A sexologist cum poet....I don't think so.......2002-06-10

Having always liked limericks, and especially the more uninhibited kind, i bought this book as the title seemed to match that genre. I was, however, quite disappointed with most of them. There are a few good ones but most are just embarrassing. Reading the author's credentials made me realize a probable cause. He is a sexologist with "30 years of clinical experience". Hey, we're not makling a patient study here....

Anyway, I highly recommend this curious art form, but get something from a writer, and not from someone who, in his effort to approach this juicy subject matter in a direct way, makes you wish he had written around it instead of straight in it.

Lots of chuckles and a few good belly laughs. Not a book that you want to read all at once, but if you pick it up once in a while and read a few, you'll find most of the limericks are fun and most quite bawdy. I'm buying a couple copies to give as gifts.

Bob's verses take a good-natured poke at the numerous situations, tales, and observations he has created, mostly based on various elements and aspects of human sexuality. I recommend it to any adult who can appreciate this type of humor.

Still more of the same here as in "More Improper Limericks: Thirty Dirty Ditties" These poems are graphic and devoid of playfulness. This book does not do justice to the limerick form. There is no cleverness, no entendre, let alone double entendre contained in these lines. Save your money.

In this book, Mr. Birch offers his third limericks collection, which contains various tales, observations, and situations, mostly dealing with various aspects of human sexuality. I recommend this (and his other two limerick books) to any adult who appreciates the bawdy, whimsical, and sometimes absurd style and content of the traditional limerick.

These "limericks" live up to the Webster definition of Bawdy : they are often obscene, indecent, and salacious. Not a single chuckle nor the slightest mental stimulation is contained in these poems. The words are not suggestive and the limericks are not playful, they are simply graphic. Save your money.
