Pretty Good, but not near as fast paced as the first book, unfortunately. Actually, the title DOES have something to do with the book, but the cover does not (not that I can find!). I still think the book is good, so I recommend it for readers 8+.

I LOVED THIS BOOK.it was the best book from R.L.Stine yet!this book is the best book in the world.I love the middle of this book.this book is about April and elleven other kids on an island with an EVIL whitch.

5 out of 5 stars Best book I ever read!.......2001-07-10

I think this book is the best book in America. I read a lot of R.L. Stine books, I read them every day. I read this whole book in less than a day. And I am not kidding, you better believe me. I especially liked the part where the danger followed April from the island back to her home. I can't wait for "No Survivors" to come out.

5 out of 5 stars Nightmare Room Craziness.......2006-09-18

April must return to the island that she has feared most... The last time April wound up on that spooky island she lost three friends who were on her team for a so called television show. Now April has returned to the island with her friend Kristen and her always wanting to be number one, cousin Pam, in hopes of finding her friends and discovering the true identity of the witch in the blue cloak who is supose to be huanting the island... April thinks that if she discovers the witch (who no one belives is real except April and Kristen) she will discover were her freinds are being kept. So will Kristen, Pam and April discover the identity of the witch or will they become traped forever in the witch's hideout like her three other friends?

      2 out of 5 stars Ehh....it was OK...I guess............2001-08-14

No Survivors once again had a lot of potential like the first two books in this Thrillogy. Overall, I didn't enjoy the Thrillogy...R.L.Stine was trying to make it like Survivor, and I am SO glad it is over, and we can return to regular books. It did have an interesting page-turning mystery to it, and for once, was not a predictable R.L.Stine book....OK, so most of it was, but I was surprised with the identity of the whole witch thing. It was OK; of course some if it is laughable it is so unrealistic. But then again, these books aren't supposed to be realistic. The action was pretty good, but Pam done got on my nerves! I'm just glad it is over. The climax was OK, not as thrilling, and it ended very abruptly. Not a whole lot of closure. 'Coulda been a lot better which is why I give No Survivors 2 stars.

5 out of 5 stars One His Best!!!!.......2001-08-08

This book was great! It was the Third and final bood in TheNightMare Room Thrillogy. When April has to go back to the island she wants to find out what happned to her friend and solve the mystery, but the evil witch is wating for her on the island because the witch thinks that April is her daughter who put her on the island. What will happen? Read it and find out. If you liked all the other NightmareRoom books you will love this one!!!

5 out of 5 stars The thrilling conclusion to the Nightmare Room Thrillogy........2001-08-07

April did not want to return to the island. So many horrible things happened there. But the evil that lurked on the island has followed her home, and so when she is asked to attend a reunion of the contestants, she reluctantly agrees, and brings along Pam, the daughter of her parents' best friends. April tries to warn the others about the evil witch that almost killed her, but they all believe it is a joke. All, that is, except for Kristin. The evil followed her home, too. April and Kristen decide to find and defeat the witch. Because if they don't, there will be no survivors. This is the final thrilling book in the Nightmare Room Thrillogy. Readers who enjoyed the first two books won't want to miss this one.

      5 out of 5 stars It doesn't have to be scary . . ........2003-06-17

Well, I've learned from the first time I read an R. L. Stine book that I wouldn't be scared by this "teen-horror" author. But, just because it doesn't scare the heck outta us doesn't mean its not a good book. Even horror-master Dean Koontz will often throw out a book just as scary as Stine's... but anyway.

This book . . . is just about like all of Stine's books... only with a hint of Survivor in it. But its far more than meats the eye. When i first got it i was soo thinking a copy-cat story line going with the Survivor TV Show (and im sure thats where Stine got the idea for this book) but it turns out to have a twist-a-plot that is rather entertaining. I suggest buying this book, but remember, its TO BE CONTINUED, so buy the whole 3some at one time.

      5 out of 5 stars Fear Games.......2002-04-06

Fear Games is a great book! It's about this girl named April Powers who gets an invitation in the mail that says she gets to go to an island where nobody lives. She and 11 other kids will get to compete in games. The kids will split up into teams and the team that wins the most games gets $100,000. When April gets to the island, she finds out she's not supposed to be there but she ends up going. For some reason, weird things start happening and everyone blames April. There are two more books in this trilogy. You'll never want to put this book down!

      5 out of 5 stars Fantabulous.......2002-03-05

I love this book. I use to get bored reading these other books recommeded by my high school English teacher. Now, because of this book I have come to love all books written by R.L Srtine.

1 out of 5 stars R.L. Stine, the master of horror?!?!.......2001-12-16

Dont make me laugh. If this (...) scares you, then you must be scared by Barney and Mr. Rogers! Stephen King is the TRUE master of horror, and unlike Stine, can write more than Horror.

      5 out of 5 stars Awesome Book!!!.......2001-10-10

I loved R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series and I was thrilled when he came out with this new series. This book is about a girl named April. She is thrilled when she learns that she was specially selected from a place called "The Academy" along with eleven other teens to compete in a competition called Life Games. The winners will split a $100,000 prize. When she arrives, the staff has a role call. Somehow there are thirteen teens there. One of them is not supposed to be there. That's when weird stuff starts to happen. When they have their first group competition April messes it up and loses the competition. Her team becomes mad at her. Staff members and team groups begin to leave mysteriously. What will happen next? You won't be able to put this book down once you read it.

      3 out of 5 stars I Bet Ya You'll Be Scared!.......2006-12-25

This is the fifth book in the Nightmare Room Series by R.L. Stein and in this volume we meet Alex Smith, student, son, friend and most importantly a boy who likes things to be exciting...and of course he likes to bet, he'll be five bucks on just about anything. The problem is that he LOVES to bet how something is going to turn out but he's rarely EVER right, in fact, he's constantly losing to Tessa Wayne (his nemesis) despite his best friends Chip and Shawn warning him to stop before he goes too far.

As we join the story, Alex bets Tessa that his diary for extra credit in English class will be more exciting than hers (and get a better grade). She's the better student and ALWAYS wins the bets...so the contest is on. He rushes home and finds that his mother has gotten him an old desk...just what he needs; even better he discovers there's an old blank diary in one of the drawers. He sets it aside...but when he comes back to it later, there is an entry! It's in HIS handwriting and it tells him the winner of the next day's basketball game and other details that he just KNOWS he can win bets with...and he does. This diary is a dream come true...or is it? Initially he rushes upstairs each night after dinner to find out what's going to happen and what he can bet on or use to his advantage...but pretty soon the diary is giving out cryptic details like him getting hit by a car and other dangerous and outrageous things...and even more frightening, they start to come true!

Will he live to read another entry? You'll have to read to find out what special terror the Nightmare Room has in store for Alex and I bet he's not going to like it! As with others in this series, there is a twist at the end which has a Twilight Zone/Outer Limits for kids feel to it that is just about perfect for this type of story! Of the five I've read so far, this is probably the best especially if the reader is able to suspend belief adequately and really imagine what it would feel like if this were happening to them. The events themselves, as written seem a bit hokey, but when taken at face value would be genuinely frightening and bewildering. The twist at the end is the kind that makes you kind of do a double take and it strikes me as the type of ending for a book where you'd like to have a bunch of your friends reading the same book so you could talk about and speculate on what the ending REALLY meant.

Overall, this book like most of Stine's writing is short on the character development...all of them are pretty much caricatures of personality types and the plot moves forward a very quick pace which sometimes leaves the reader wanting for more details than are there. In the end, they are entertaining above anything else and Dear Diary, I'm Dead leaves the reader with much to discuss if he or she is reading this with friends or for a class discussion. Additionally, like most of the other books it has a moral...it's twisted around and morbid, but it's there and gives the story an additional layer for the reader to enjoy. I give it three stars; it's entertaining, engaging and genuinely creepy but not great literature.

3 out of 5 stars It Was... Okay.......2006-05-22

This book is about a kid named Alex Smith who finds a diary in an old desk. Later Alex finds that all of the entries were for the next day. They are also in his handwriting but he didn't do it. Soon Alex realizes that the diary is never wrong. And it doesn't always predict good things.
I think the theme is do not trust what everyone tells you. If Alex would not have trusted the diary, the bad things would not have happened. I like hat Alex likes to bet, but I don't think he should take it so far. My only question is why it started all over again at the end. I think that horror fans would like this book because of the semi-scary events. The ending was not well written, and it wasn't very good.

      2 out of 5 stars Hmm.......2004-02-19

Well, first of all, I love books by R.L.Stine. But this one was one of the worst. The book title gives a lot away; the ending was confusing and disappointing. There are lots of "predictions" in there that makes readers dread if the main character is going to die or not, but well, I thought it was rather forced in. The characters were not involving. I especially disliked the very first part about "camping." You should skip this one if you're reading all of the Nightmare Room series. Not enthralling or involving.

      3 out of 5 stars Evil...Sorta!.......2006-09-17

This is the third in R.L Stein's Nightmare Room series, which is a fine series of what I'll dub horror-lite, I believe the author is giving a tip of the hat to The Twilight Zone TV series, as each story begins with a very Twilight Zone-esque opening...which you can find in the publisher description on this same page. I rather like this about the series, and all three I have read thus far take a stab at recreating some of the startling, strange and just plain bizarre happenings (so Twilight Zone-ish...also like The Outer Limits, of more recent times) in the lives of the unfortunate soul who happens to be unlucky enough to enter the Nightmare Room.

This volume we encounter Maggie, a shy girl celebrating her 13th birthday with her three best friends in the whole world (the three J's) whom she has known since she was 4 years old. Maggie is just like any other 13 year old; she's trying on her newly minted teenage identity and just trying to have a good time. Her friends take her to the carnival to celebrate and there she encounters the boy she has a crush on (and who one of her friends played a vicious prank on last year) and then is told by a fortune teller that he is evil. The girls laugh it off, but as the story progresses, something terrible is starting to happen and just about everything Maggie touches turns out all wrong. We follow her through a rather bizarre series of "accidents" which lead more and more of Maggie's friends to really believe that she is EVIL! The story, like the others before it, always has a surprise waiting at the end...is Maggie truly evil and out to destroy her friend? Will Maggie survive her trip into the Nightmare Room?

This, for me, was the least subtle of the three I have read so far. It's pretty straight forward in the telling, the reader will find themselves unable to put the book down...each turn of events leaves us asking...it couldn't get WORSE, could it? But yes, it can...and does! The events just keep escalating in a series of accidents that keep us reading to see what's going to happen next. Aside from not being subtle at all, it's also got the least twisted ending...it does have what I think is turning into a "signature twist" at the end, but it's not all that surprising and it's certainly not subtle, you'd have to be pretty thick not to see this one coming, but still...it does have creep factor and the main character is more sympathetic than in the previous books...that is to say that I felt her pain at losing her friends more keenly than I felt the emotions of the main character in either of the other two, so that was a definite bonus! The first book remains my favorite...this one get a B+ from me, simply because it was a bit heavy handed in the building up to the climax and the ending wasn't all that much of a surprise to me. Looking forward to reading more of this series!

Everyone who likes to read books at night, this is a must! It's about a girl who's really nice then suddenly bad things start happening to her friends. Ok I won't spoil the surprise but it's really good. But then All R.L stine's books are!!!!!!!!

Haha, i really did not enjoy this book. I didn't really like the characters, and the plot was so scatterbrained and confusing I didn't really understand what exactly what was going on. I just wanted it to be over.

5 out of 5 stars Maggie is turning evil..........2001-04-10

Fans of R.L. Stine's popular Goosebumps series -- probably older now -- will like his brand new NIGHTMARE ROOM series, still sticking with the familiar scares (and laughs) type of style. Though I think his 'scares' are quite funny, this book reflects the writing of the Goosebumps series on perhaps just a notch above the old level. My Name Is Evil is the third installment in this series. Maggie was just an ordinary girl trying to have fun on her thirteenth birthday with her friends. She never really thought she had any evil or darkness in her heart. But that was until she met Miss Elizabeth, the Fortune Teller at the local carnival. From then on, her evil began to get worse, though she can't stop it. The friends she always had are turning against her because of her strange evil powers. Maggie doesn't know what's happening to her, or why she suddenly has evil powers on her thirteenth birthday. Nothing will prepare her for the big surprise in store for her. Before anything else happens, Maggie must do something to stop her evil -- before her world falls apart in front of her eyes.

My name is evil is the 3rd book in the series of the nightmare room. The series starts going down hill after the excellent locker 13. But it is a very good book with a lot of chills and creepy stuff. The end is dissapointing and the beggining is a little slow. i give it a "B"

I BARELY made it through this book without sleeping.....IT was very tiring, and not in one bit scary. It was actually pretty STUPID. I don't think R.L. Stine put any thought process while writing this one.........I recommend this book for people who want to get bored out of their mind. For a summary, read the book description.

The cover looks really cool. And that's the best part. It was frustrating. I was expecting a lot more; it was a good idea. But it turned out terribly. And the ending was ridiculous. They never even explained what powers Shadow Girl had. I don't recommend this one.

This and Camp Nowhere are definitely the best books in the Nightmare Room series thus far. This book is a movie in itself, and R.L. saves it from being a ridiculous idea into a somewhat heartfelt and scary horror adventure. I highly recommend it - great reading and a classic.

5 out of 5 stars Spencer is about to learn the hard way about ghosts..........2001-05-08

The Nightamre Room #7: The Howler is probably R.L. Stine's best book yet in his newest creepy Goosebumps type series, with a unique twist and excellent story that distinguishes this book from past books. Probably one of his scariest books he's written, and with a story that is sure to keep eyes glued, I loved this story more then any of the others in THE NIGHTMARE ROOM series. Spencer Turner was devastated at the shocking death of his cousin Ian last winter when they were skating on the ice with some friends. Even as Ian fell through the ice, Spencer had tried his best to save him -- but he almost got killed himself trying to do so. Spencer survived, but his cousion Ian did not. Ever since, Spencer wants to contact Ian's ghost and tell him how much he had tried to save him, and how sorry he is of Ian's tragic death. He becomes so desperate that he eventually purchases an item called the Howler from a ghost supplies shop. The Howler is able to make Spencer hear the howls of ghosts -- and even though Spencer is terrified, he'll do all it takes to reach Ian...somehow. But maybe he gets more then he bargained for. The terror that ensues will make Spencer wish he'd never even dream of buying the terrifying Howler. This was a spine-tingling, scary, and page turning book in R.L. Stine's terrifying new series, The Nightmare Room.

Camp Nowhere by:R.l Stine is a very good and scary book. I will give you a short summary of this book to show you how scary and good it is. The book Camp Nowhere is about a boy named Russell who goes to summer camp. During the summer camp, the campers talk about different legends. One of the legends was about a river called "Forbidden Falls" which was close to the summer camp. This legend will scare you to death. Well you see, several years ago, 5 kids went in a canoe to the forbidden falls and they all vanished in thin air.

If you want to find out why did the kids disappear?, What happend to the river?, Was the river haunted? and etc, I suggest you to read the book. I say that this Nightmare room book is the best that R.l Stine has written, but who knows there might be a better one coming up. READ IT!!

      5 out of 5 stars Classic R.L.Stine greatness.......2001-07-05

I really loved this book. R.L.Stine tried something new with the whole camp idea, and he is definitely at his best here. It is the best Nightmare Room book written so far. I highly recommend it.

      5 out of 5 stars Camp Review.......2001-05-09

The book no.9 in the Nightmare Room Series is by far the best I have ever read. It has lots of chills and scares, it is very eerie, freaky and has a great plot and great charachters and great descriptions. It should be a bestseller. And it doesn't matter the age because this book is gonna make you sleep with the lights on for a very long time. Russel, David, Charlotte, Marty and Erin are the most important charachters in the book. They are senior campers in Camp Hawkwood, and senior campers in Camp Hawkwood go over forbidden falls. Counselors tell a story about five kids who went over the falls and were never seen again. The senior campers take the risk and go over forbidden falls and when they realize that it was all a joke they decide to play a joke on the counselor, Ramon. The joke works but it messes up the kids plans because they lose ramon and the canoes. Looking for their camp they find another camp called Camp Evergreen. But there is something wrong with that camp and that kid Drew what was he talking about when he said that he was going to tell the kids the truth about the camp?

This is one of the best books that I have ever bought and I encourage you to buy them too.
