Nice power pop.......2004-08-22

Very good debut. A little inconsistent at the end, but hummable tunes for the most part. Their new cd (Hi-Tech Lowlife) is even better; look for it. I have many cd's of this ilk, and this one is in the top 20 percentile.

Who are the Davenports?.......2000-07-28

The Davenports are a band who have just released this little beauty of a record,that's who!I came to this record via a review in "Bucketful of Brains",which had recommended it wholeheartedly.This record succeeds on many different levels,at times it rocks and at others it bowls you over with its beauty,subtlety and restraint.It is full of imagination musically and I would unreservedly recommend you buy it!

this band is awesome--totally fun, smart lyrics, very new york, very accessible and upbeat without being cheesy or sappy. they sound like they're having a blast when playing and can rock out hard or mellow down with equal ease. girls night out and dog run are two favorites. the guys in the band are all adorable and obviously very talented.

Dadgum your soul.......2004-09-15

This is a fine collection of songs by country brother acts from the 1930s. Practically all of the acts feature just two brothers playing and singing together (the exception is the Lone Star Cowboys, who have a third guy playing guitar). The CD feature three songs each by six different teams. Many of the songs here are classics that became better known when covered by later performers. The best known act here would be the Monroe Brothers, featuring Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass. There is a lot of good music here. Fans of old time country music should really enjoy it.

A great sampling of early blue grass music.......2004-01-02

This is a great look at music from the 30s with unique sounds. My favorite track is " Here to Get My Baby Out Of Jail" which has almost all of the elements of a perfectcountry song.

The Nelson Brothers go country. Yee haw!

While this isn't one of their best music endeavors, I really like this CD. After their hard rocking CDs, this is a more gentle CD.

I give them credit for venturing into a new type of music - it's a bold move and one that wasn't guaranteed to "sell."

Some of the songs on the CD are a bit too country with a lot of twang and fiddles, several of the songs are really great: Just Once More, She Loves Me, With this Kiss (soo soo nice!), What's In a Name, Forever Isn't Long Enough for Me and You Call That a Mountain. With some of the acoustic songs, the music plays quietly in the background and Matthew's and Gunnar's vocal really come through. They have exceptional voices and these songs showcase them nicely.

It's a fun little CD for any Nelson fan. Make it a part of your collection.

Great Country Sound .......2006-05-24

Nelson continues to amaze me with their effortless and smooth transition into yet another genre of music. This time it is country and it is great. These guys harmonize beautifully and in some tracks I am reminded of Pure Prairie League from the 70's and 80's. Songs like "Just Once More", "From the Word Go" are incredible with nice lyrics and tight harmonies. This is a must have CD if you are a fan of country/pop music and of course the underrated talents of Matthew and Gunnar. Their late father would be so proud of his twins.

Excellent CD. I probably wouldn't have bought this cd except for the fact it was by the Nelsons. I'm not a country music fan, but Gunnar's description of extreme country is more like it.
The Nelson's have heart and it shows in their songwriting. "With This Kiss" is the most romantic song I've heard yet. Songs vary from more mellow and reflective "What About Me?" to the fun and upbeat "She's Way Too Cute For Him". Glad to see "Just Once More" on here also. It made me cry the 1st time I heard it and remains my favorite song. I wish this world would wake up and give these men the recognition they deserve. They are extremely talented, which is more than I can say about a lot of other performers today.
What's my favorite style of music now? Has always been and always will be, whatever The Nelsons are playing!

They Rock.......2005-08-03

I loved this CD from the first moment I played it. The boys sure grew up from their first CD "After the Rain" which I love. This CD shows their range of music. My three favorite songs from this CD is "One of the Things About You", "She Loves Me", and "She's Way too Cute for Him". All the songs are good but those three are the best. And the tribute to their father "Just Once More" is a very moving and touching tribute.
