Album Description

The first single & hit from 'Just No Other Way', the 2000 debut U.S. album by Asian superstar Coco Lee. Airplay on 'Do You Want My Love?' is kicking in, especially on Honolulu's KIKI, Albuquerque's KKSS and San Diego/ Tijuana station XHTZ where the song is in medium rotation. Though Americans may not have heard of the 23-year-old songstress who was born in Hong Kong but grew up in San Francisco prior to 'Just No Other Way', her name might ring a bell to Jackie Chan fans, as she's been in several of his films. Also, she performed the theme song 'Reflection' on the Mandarin-language version of Disney's hit 1998 animated film 'Mulan', which she also provided the voice of the main character to. For those familiar with 'Mulan' in the U.S., they know that teenpop sensation Christina Aguilera sang the song. The fact that Lee was chosen to do it in Asia is probably no coincedence then, as her voice & musical style have been compared to Aguilera (as well as Mariah Carey). Lee has already released 12 albums since her 1994 debut, some in English & some in Mandarin. No U.S. single exists for 'Do You Want My Love?' (which features a cameo from rapper A-Butter of Natural Elements) & this import single contains five mixes of the hit (W/O Rap, Album Version, Kenny Diaz Radio Edit, Hex Hector Mix & Alternate Lyric Without Rap), plus the CD-ROM video to it! 1999release. "Do You Want My Love" is fabulous.......2005-12-07

I recently discovered her music and I have to say it is very pleasant. "Do You Want My Love" is a warm sensual Urban/Dance-Pop song with warm vocals. The backing music is a nearly equal cross between En Vogue's 1997 hit, "Whatever" and Jeniffer Lopez's hit, "If You Had My Love." Coco vocals are similar in range and timber to Urban/Dance-Pop artist, Mya. I was surprised how good this song was when I first heard it! I was like, "How come I didn't heard this before?" The remixes are fabulous. I hope Coco finds her niche in the North American market. It would be an intelligent move to continue releasing remix singles, and hopefully more dance-oriented, Kylie-esque Dance-Pop albums instead of attempting to create Mariah's more Hip-Hop based works. Very club friendly Dance-Pop like Kylie's music is more like to break Coco Lee into the North American market.

Geez...how DARE you be so offensive to CoCo? I was born and grew up in America BUT I happen to purchase CDs from artists NOT in my country, inclusive of her, Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Emma Shapplin, Mika Nakashima...I can go on forever. People can market ANYWHERE they like. Of course J. Lo, Mariah, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, etc. made waves more.

And for crying out loud, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO WRITE ABOUT THE ARTIST HERSELF! You're supposed to review this CD. I know I'm not one to do so, either, so will just say goodbye.

The Best Singer I have ever heard, "Trillion Stars" not 5..........2004-02-22

The first time I heard her song, I was truely blown away by her textured voice. I mean the BEST!!!! No other singer can compare to COCO LEE!!!!!! Even if I don't understand her cantonese music, I still love her voice!!!. So many "!" means COCO is the BEST.

This should have been a HUGE hit in the US.. sadly it got lost in the teeny bopper stampede of 1999. A blend of smart lyrics and danceable beat,, Do You Want My Love is one of those songs you have to play over and over. Dont let the fact that this one got lost along the way stop you from buying it. The remixes are right on, and the delivery is incredible. The Hex Hector remix in particular takes the song to an entirely different level. Get it before its too late!

Why bother buy this CD if you're here in America? JLo, Mariah, etc are making waves. Do we really need Coco? Nah, i don't think so. If this is the kind of music she's selling then she's marketing the wrong place.

Album title says it all.......2003-06-24

This is a great CD set to own whether you're a CoCo lover or a newcomer to her music. Her singing is captivating and her style is all her own. Her voice is clear and controlled, but CoCo's greatest asset as a singer is the versatility of her voice and style. She can be an angel one minute ("Sad Angel") and a temptress ("Love You If I Want") the next. Or she can be wistful ("Longing to See You") or coy ("You Are My Superman"). This CD set has the best of everything.

Tracks 1-12 comprise the first disc, which features her slower-tempo songs. Here is where her pure singing itself is best showcased. "After Winter's Gone" especially stands out. Tracks 13-22 as listed on amazon are actually the second disc, which features almost exclusively faster-paced songs. "Love Me a Little Longer" is smooth as silk with an air of seduction. "Di Da Di" is a famous track in many parts of Asia, and it's one of CoCo's biggest hits to date. It'll leave you singing along, or at least humming the chorus in your mind. "Longing to See You" features a relaxed groove and sweet lyrics; "Love You in 2090" has a similar velvety feeling to the opening track; and the final track, "Sad Angel," (not "angle") really will make your heart feel a little heavier. That's not a bad thing, as it speaks of CoCo's ability to convey honest emotions. One of the highlights of the second CD, and another one of CoCo's biggest hits, "Feelin' Good" ("Hao Xing Qing" in Mandarin), has an addicting, driving beat topped with sweet lyrics. It's borderline sugary, but the tongue-in-cheek feeling and CoCo's honest delivery keep it from being too much.

I have to agree with the other reviewer that it's one of the best CD compilations I own. The second disc hasn't left my changer since I bought the set. One final note: not all the tracks are Mandarin; "Sad Angel" is Cantonese.

what awesome CD!!.......2001-04-13

I love this album because it includes so many of my favorites on there, such as Stay with me, and also after winter's gone. There is just so much on this CD I like, I think it is the best compilation CD that I own. Way to go CoCo !!

I'm only writing this review to say that the "In The Walls" video is not on this CD. The only video included is "My Coco". Even if the "In The Walls" video was here, an inquisitive fan can easily find these videos online (so it's not much of a selling point). The price is a bit high for the content you're getting: 2 previously unreleased audio tracks and 1 video.

Here's a little summary of the track list:
