Editorial Reviews

Product Description
This debut is an orchestrated, danceable tantrum. It's flamboyant and deviant, taking you to a steamy jungle filled with sounds of howling animals in heat. Stylistically, Beep Beep draws from traditional art rock elements (XTC, Klaus Nomi, Wire, Kate Bush), while simultaneously exuding present and future genres. The lyrics stand alone as titillating prose, exploring themes of office culture as well as religious, environmental, and sexual deviance.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Almost unlistenable.......2007-03-14

I bought the album based on the reviews and was very disappointed. I didn't find it to be witty, danceable, or charming. Musically, all the songs sound the same and the vocals are just unpleasantly shrill.

It's probably better suited for people who prefer energy above ingenuity.

4 out of 5 stars Demented Rock N' Roll.......2005-07-14

This is demented rock n' roll of the finest (dis)order with vocals and lyrics that practically ooze sex and sleaze. For those who have only heard "i am the secretary" and "misuse their bodies" online, the first song is a much better indication of how the rest of the album sounds. There is sometimes little to distinguish between the songs, but whilst this is often the downfall of many albums, Beep Beep use it to their advantage; at only 28 minutes long "business casual" grips the listeners attention throughout, flowing seamlessly from track to track and forcing you to reach for the repeat button again and again - this is a great fun party album and there is not a single bad track on it. However, at the same time, there is no real song that can really be singled out for excellence, but nearly all the tracks do show flashes of brilliance. All in all this is a damn fine album that doesnt take itself too seriously and shines for that very reason.

4 out of 5 stars holy crap! seizure in a box........2005-01-21

sounds like... nothing that i have ever heard before. this is the kind of music that you dance (read "shake furiously and sporadically") to in your bedroom with the volume on 10. if you like early Q and not U, you will probably like "Business Casual". it is kind of like if "No Kill, No Beep Beep" was made while on speed. oh no!, misuse their bodies, and the flourescent lights are my favorite tracks on the cd. alot of the lyrics on this cd are sexually driven. great cd but not the best that i have heard, hence the 4 stars out of 5.

4 out of 5 stars Good Cd, but not Great.......2005-01-05

I Picked this up this past weekend while I was on vacation at a local record store in michigan, when I put down the copy of Straylight Run that I was going to buy and someone else picked it up and bought it. Lucky for me it was the last copy of that cd. I'm a big fan of Saddle Creek record bands and I had heard "I Am The Secretary" and "Misuse Their Bodies" online, but I really didn't know what to expect from this cd, and I know it's quite hard to find in a store. So I picked it up, not knowing much about it. I was pleasently suprised to see that it is indeed a very good album, but not great. I would say the songs you hear online are the 2 worst songs on the album. My favorite song on the album has to be "Oh No!" and the extremely sexually provacative "Giggle Giggle". These songs give you something different from hearing the same old screamo/emo that we are force fed these days. However, My big complaint with Beep Beep is that they heavily steal from Queens of the Stone Age. This album could actually pass for a new QOTSA album if it wanted, because it sounds exactly like that band on all the songs. That's my main reasonf or giving it a 4 our of 5. Otherwise, invest in it, it's well worth your time and money.

4 out of 5 stars Like kids throwing a hissy-fit.......2004-10-04

Beep Beep just might be the most intense and sporadic album to ever come from the Saddle Creek family. The greatest thing about it is that BUSINESS CASUAL continually surprises the listener track after track. It'll make you want to dance... but not the kind of dancing you do in a club, trying to get the pretty brunette in the corner to notice you, it's the seizure-like aneurysm that shakes you from your brain to your toes. Drawing from the likes of XTC, Gang of Four, and Sparks, Beep Beep achieves a sound similar to modern bands like The Faint and The Rapture...on speed and ecstasy that is. Electrifying and perverse, it's the next album you're going to buy.
