5 out of 5 stars Quite possibly the best thing to come out in years.......2005-09-13

Okay, just from my title you can tell i enjoy the pillows...a lot....Reason why? They were something new from the same thing you hear all the time on the radio and mtv and trl...all that crap today is too linear. Thier unqie sound and feeling make it worth the cd alone. You never hear quality like this lately. Many people are turned off by them just because of thier name....now seriosuly if a bands name matters why call yourself Green Day? And if the language barrior is a problem to ya, don't let it be. The first time i heard these guys i had no idea what they were saying but i fell in love with the new sound they brought to the for the most part now dying music department. Personally my favorite pillows song ever is CARNIVAL, and i have no idea why either. It starts out slow and turns into this great jarring rock* while keeping the slow cool pace that it takes*(just like one of thier other songs..forgot the name). *kinda like the beatles..as people say...though i never liked those guys...* The opening is simply beautiful from what you hear today, and the guitar riffs are simply a work of art. The Pillows bring new life to music, and should be more respected more then they are now. Show you support, thank a chance with The Pillows! You're missing out if ya don't!
Adn if you're looking for a great way to start listening to the pillows, I recommend buying the flcl soundtracks first. Very good cds and have tons of songs from thier old cds *and each one is very good...there is not a single one i wouldn't skip....ever....i can listen to these guys all day and i would never get tired of it*

5 out of 5 stars "Music with no borders.".......2005-03-20

I saw The Pillows perform live in a club venue, and they sound just as incredible 15 feet in front of you as they do on a CD. Their hooks are phenomenal, and every note, every song, has a sense of purpose.

The Pillows create nothing throwaway or forgettable, and their songs range from anthem-like chants celebrating youth (Little Busters) to grinding noise-fests (Nightmare), to thumping, yet fizzy pop (Blues Drive Monster). Even my young daughter loves The Pillows, no matter that most of their songs are in Japanese.

During the concert, Sawao told the crowd that music should be free of borders, that good music should be timeless. "Music should make people happy, " he said. "We want to make people happy." How cool is it that one group's success, dreams, and immense talent can, in effect, be a gift for so many?

I can't recommend The Pillows highly enough, and I'd encourage anyone to buy any of their albums.

5 out of 5 stars THE PILLOWS ARE JUST AMAZING.......2004-12-02

HAPPY BIVOUAC is the only CD with all english track titles that has no Japanese title counter part (EX: BABYLON VERSES OF ANGEL being also known as BABIRON tenshi no uta; Everday Songs also known as Hibi no uta). All of the songs on this CD are great and will have you listening for hours at a time. Anyting by the Pillows is pure great. I have NEVER seen ANY BAD reviews for the Pillows, and I looked for some. That's how good they are.

(8/10)HAPPY BIVOUAC: Good song, not too different
(9/10)RUSH: Has a tough beat, kind of sticks out from the rest
(7/10)LAST DINOSAUR: good song, not the best, not the worst
(8.5/10)CARNIVAL: Good song, starts out kind of quite, goes to normal
(7/10)Our love and peace: A simple song with a good feeling
(9.5/10)Crazy Sunshine: An energetic song, good beat
(10/10)Back seat dog: A really good song with some girls singing in the back round that ads happiness to the song.
(9.5/10)Kim deal: An energetic song, good beat, fun to listen too
(7.5/10)Funny Bunny: A soft song, but good beat
(10/10)Beautiful morning with you: Starts out nice and slow, gets to normal rock, well song
(9/10)Advice: The heaviest song ever by the Pillows, in english and sung funnily
All songs in average: 9.5/10

My final word: EVERYTHING BY THE PILLOWS IS BEYOND ALL TALENT, PURE AMAZING, AND WORTH GETTING!!!

5 out of 5 stars worth it.......2004-11-26

Its like a MacDonalds happymeal with a Mrs.Fields cookie instead of a toy.

All too often, The Pillows are hailed as this amazing resurgence of "the 90's sound". Why is this wrong? Because The Pillows are a 90's band (first release in 1990, actually) that's just been sorely neglected. So, does that make this '99 release any less worthy of its truckloads of praise? Goddess, no. This is absolutely top notch stuff to give you the same feeling those kids you're envious of for getting to hear all those 90's gems you've got anew, are feeling. If you've seen kids' eyes light up by Hum, My Bloody Valentine, Pavement, and yes, The Pixies lately and want that same "Crap, how was something this amazing around and I didn't hear it???" feeling, this album (and the rest of The Pillows' stuff) should be right up your alley.
