During a 1971 concert performance, a seemingly relieved Pete Townshend announced that the event would mark the last performance of the Who's landmark rock opera Tommy. To paraphrase Adam West: "Poor, deluded boy." Over the ensuing decades, the mushrooming popularity of the Who's tour de force would inspire an all-stars-meet-the-London Symphony album (1972), a star-studded Ken Russell film epic/soundtrack (1975), a Broadway show (1992)--and become an enduring millstone around Townshend and the band's collective necks. But it was over-the-top auteur Russell who would give the morality tale of the deaf, dumb, and blind boy-cum-reluctant-messiah some of its most indelible pop-cultural iconography: Eric Clapton as High Priest; Acid Queen Tina Turner; Elton John in sky-high stack soles as the Pinball Wizard. The accompanying album is dutifully sprawling, a monument to Me Decade excess studded with loopy star turns (including the, er, "operatic" charms of Ann Margaret and Jack Nicholson), swelling choirs, and blustery synth fills. As he would later do to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, executive producer Robert Stigwood manages to turn one of rock's seminal achievements into something more artistically akin to the World Wrestling Federation, and every bit as musically subtle. It's no mean feat to virtually overwhelm the Who on their own record; Stigwood makes it sound like a vendetta. Still, it's an album so ambitiously bad it's but one William Shatner performance away from being a kitsch masterpiece. --Jerry McCulley

4 out of 5 stars Solid, but lacks that speical something of concert production.......2007-07-25

I am not sure of Ann-Margaret and Oliver Reed were the best choice for Tommy, but they do bring lots of talent to the score.

Tina Turner and Jack Nicholson absolutely steal the show. If you need any reason to watch this film or listen to the soundtrack, it should be for Tina and Jack.

The film does not seem as dated as say the film version of Hair, but if it were refilmed today it would be amazing.

5 out of 5 stars Hey..What Happened ?.......2007-05-31

After having recently seen the movie again (4/07) on cable television, I caught something that is missing. On my soundtrack CD, the song, "Eyesight to the Blind", has all the verses being sung by Eric Clapton...In the film, the verse, 'She's got the power to heal you, never fear', is sung by Arthur Brown as he shows the icon of Marilyn Monroe to the people receiving communion(a Tulenol and a shot of Johnny Walker Red Label Scotch). I want my Arthur Brown ! Come On !

5 out of 5 stars Tommy Two.......2007-05-12

I forgot about Oliver Reed and Jack Nicolson singing on this (Ann Margret does have a singing voice....But not used too well here). I can only speculate that the director of the movie wanted to use those two so much that he overlooked the fact that they had musical voices that were best kept in the privacy of their own showers or such. But their singing parts are kept to a minimal so it's not too distracting....In fact it does add a bit of realism to the movie. but I'm not too sure it will be as appreciated in CD.

None the less I am about to buy this version because I just got the remastered version of the original Who album. That version has some really great music, but after seeing the movie the original vocals often come off as a flat rendition compared to the movie. Even on the songs where Daltry there is far more energy in the movie version than on the original version. This is especially true on "I'm Free" and "Listening To You." Those two songs are kicked up several notches in the movie version compared to the original....And I think both songs became number one on the charts for a while in the original version so that's quite an achievment.

For the music over all I turn to the original Who version, but for the version that really comes alive when I listen I turn to this version. After looking over the line up I am just a bit disappointed that the music doesn't appear to follow the same order as it does in the movie. I don't understand why they would do that since most of the people who buy this would want to see the movie played over in their minds while listening to the sound track. It sort of puts a damper on things if it's not in the same order....Oh well...Thanks to MP3's we can put it back in order...

5 out of 5 stars `Gotta disagree with you critics, this recording rocks!.......2007-04-06

I purchased the original movie soundtrack LP recording by Polydor in the `75/'76 time frame, before I actually saw the movie. (I still have this album.) Then, a few years ago, I purchased the CD when it was finally available. There are some differences in the two. There is more content to the CD (the Overture, some short transition songs, and some extensions of the songs, as they were presented in the movie), possibly due to the time limitations associated with vinyl recording technology.

As I recall, being a Who fan, I was initially somewhat disappointed by the fact that many of the songs are not actually performed by The Who and sung by Roger Daltrey. Guest artists and musicians (studio and band) appear frequently, w/ or w/o members of The Who. However, they do, for the most part, their own great job of interpreting the music from the Tommy rock opera. There is a lot to like here if you can get past the fact that The Who did not perform in much of this recording.

I must admit, I do not own a copy of the original Who recording of Tommy. Though, I have heard many of the songs played on radio. With exception of possibly the live performances of Tommy (e.g. at Woodstock), in nearly all cases, the original movie soundtrack recording surpasses the original album release. As noted by others below, there is a lack of energy and a laid back approach (forgive me, mellowed out) in The Who version of Tommy and a fair amount of harmonization of vocals by the band. In contrast, in the movie soundtrack, the song arrangements have all been improved and embellished with additional instrumentation (keyboards & brass), synthesizers, energy, and emotion.

Daltrey's voice is powerful, clean, and he holds notes better than ever before. In my opinion, his vocals in this recording are some of his best work. The guest artists all add their own magic to the music. Enough so that Elton John had a major hit w/ "Pinball Wizard" and he will forever be known as the same. Although less famous, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, and Paul Nicholas also give wonderful performances. Apparently some of the other reviewers do not know that Ann-Margret was an accomplished singer long before this movie. Regardless of their comments, she gives great vocal performances in this movie soundtrack as well. Even Jack Nicholson holds his own in this recording. However, their comments w/r to Oliver Reed's singing are pretty much on the money.

There are three songs from the soundtrack that I have loved since I first heard them. They are, "Amazing Journey", "Sparks", and "Pinball Wizard". You cannot get any better than these for power and energy. With the windows up in your car (or conversely at home, use headphones), crank the stereo volume up with one of these on and you'll understand. My other favorites include, "1951/What About the Boy?", "Eyesight to the Blind" (not a Who composition, but an electrified, old, bluesy, rock song played masterfully by Clapton and the boys), "Champagne", "I'm Free", "I'm a Sensation", "Sally Simpson", "See Me, Feel Me", and "Listening to You".

The bottom line here is that if you liked The Who's work before the death of Moon and are not a Who purest, you might just like this recording a lot. After all, it is The Who's music, just remixed and jazzed up a bit by Townshend and the other artists. It is a helluva lot better than the milk-toast recording just put out by The "New" Who.

3 out of 5 stars NOT AS BAD AS YOU WOULD THINK.......2006-02-16

THIS "TOMMY" SOUNDTRACK CD IS NOT REALLY ALL THAT BAD. I GIVE IT 3 STARS BECAUSE 2 SONGS ON THIS ARE BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL VERSIONS ARE: "SALLY SIMPSON" & "SENSATION". THEY G0T MORE OF AN "EDGE" TO THEM. ALSO, KEITH MOON SINGS "FIDDLE ABOUT" WHERE JOHN SINGS IT ON THE ORIGINAL. ALL IN ALL IF YOU ARE A WHO FAN, YOU SHOULD OWN IT. TAKE CARE.

5 out of 5 stars Underated Masterpiece.......2006-01-03

Roger Daltrey is known as the singer for one of the greatest rock bands ever: The Who. When he left the band he built his reputation on, many expected another. Wrong!! This album has a more pop/ballad feel. All the songs are great, especially the title track which was written for Kieth Moon, the deceased drummer of the Who. Daltrey can sing and shows us on this album. Buy this album if you like Roger or the Who.

5 out of 5 stars An 80's Rock Masterpiece!.......2005-03-23

Roger Daltrey stepped out on his own in a big way when "Raging Moon" was released. Mostly spurred by the MTV play of "After The Fire," this album had a great combination. Daltrey in fine vocal form, a good backing band, good production and great songs.

Some have said this was like a Who album, and perhaps it was, though Daltrey has staked out territory for his voice on other recordings (witness his work on "Daltrey," doing Dave Courtney/Leo Sayer tunes).

This one just rocked from end to end--"Fire," "Move Better In The Night," and the title track are among the better tracks, while Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance contributed "Let Me Down Easy," which had a minor bit of play on MTV and radio (I think).

Roger also handled the ballads again--"The Pride You Hide" and "Love Me Like You Do" were well done.

Drummers and likewise also get a huge thrill out of the title song's use of 8 drummers, including Stewart Copeland, Mark Brzezecki (I hope I got his name right) of Big Country and others. Interesting, but I wished they'd cranked the drums a bit more.

Exceptional, one of Daltrey's best on his own.

4 out of 5 stars Daltrey's finest solo work.......2005-01-11

This woefully underappreciated album, dedicated to the memory of his late bandmate (hence the title), features some of Roger Daltrey's most inspired work outside of The Who.

The invigoratingly vibrant opener, 'After The Fire', and the ferociously rocking closer, 'Under A Raging Moon', are alone worth the price of admission.

The latter, which tries to capture the essence of Keith Moon's raging spirit, climaxes with terrific solos by a veritable who's who of rock drummers -- Martin Chambers, Roger Taylor, Cozy Powell, Stewart Copeland, Zak Starkey, Carl Palmer and Mark Brzezicki.

Too bad about the sound, though. The mastering's one of the worst I've ever heard on a major-label production. It takes away the thunder from that magnificent title track which could've blazed away brilliantly in the hands of a more capable engineer.

5 out of 5 stars One of the solo projects he got right.......2004-09-10

Even though I currently only have a handful of his solo albums, I tend to believe what most people say, that Roger's solo records are hit and miss. Sometimes you get a really cheesy or lame one, and sometimes you end up with a great album like this one. He even co-wrote four of the songs on here, and it reached #42 on the charts. I think it works so well because it sounds so much like a Who album (Pete even wrote the famous first track, "After the Fire," which reached #48), though unlike 'McVicar' it's not a de facto Who album because the other bandmembers don't play anywhere on it. These are the types of songs he should have been recording in his solo career all along, songs that really match his vocal abilities and personality well, where he can showcase primal screams (like at the end of "Rebel"), gruffness, and the equal ability to sound angel-sweet besides just gruff or raunchy. The songs are also very introspective; though I didn't realise this till it was pointed out, it also reads very much like a midlife-crisis album, a guy who's getting older going back to his old town and realising that he can never go back, that times and people have moved on, he's no longer as young and vital as he used to be, and dealing with the pain of lost love. The opening track of "After the Fire" brilliantly and poignantly sets the mood of the other songs to follow, and though I can't say if this really is true or not, not having all of his solo albums, it's said that this is his last album where he screams from start to finish, a last hurrah of fading youth, glory, vibrancy, and vitality. He made fantastic choices about songwriters, backing musicians, and songs, and it proves that not all of his solo albums were jokes or a waste of his incredible vocal prowess.

5 out of 5 stars Roger Daltrey's Best Solo Album.......2004-05-06

UNDER A RAGING MOON is Roger Daltrey's best solo album ever. It sounds like it could have been another Who album, which shows that Daltrey's solo work, by this point, no longer needed to stand totally apart from his work with the Who. The opening song, "After The Fire", is one of the most trenchant pieces of rock ever to grace a CD; many of the songs, including- especially- that one, speak of the dangers of too many good times, a theme reflected in my decision to hang up pictures of gorgeous actresses as a deterrent to such behavior, and the last two, "Rebel" (a Bryan Adams cover) and the title song, express the conflict between past, present, and future that ultimately led to me not going back to my old school for special meals in the hope that I might actually be able to look good for these beauties someday. In between, there are some great cuts, some not so great, but the whole album is a treatise on getting older, moving on, giving up bad habits, and knowing that you can neither escape nor return to the past.

3 out of 5 stars Too short.......2007-02-01

Pricey for about 10 minutes of music. Some of the songs were alright, not quite the same as hearing it live.

4 out of 5 stars New title should be "Who's Left?".......2006-12-07

Saw The Who in Chicago in September and they were SOOOO good. I have so much respect for this band, Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey performed with energy that I could not muster at my age. Pete Townsend - so talented - the first Rock Opera. Roger Daltrey can still belt it out! I learned afterwards that Townsend's bro did the vocals AND Ringo Starr's son was the drummer! Lots of fathers and sons in the audience. Teenagers behind us. A mixed crowd indeed! My favorite Who song is Eminence Front. I'm the only one WHO likes that song! My favorite song of the evening was Man in the Purple Dress.

3 out of 5 stars WHO's BACK!.......2006-11-11

Being a big Who fan I awaited this release with great anticipation and rest assured that while this isn't quite in the same league as Tommy, Quadrophenia or Who's Next, it is several steps in the right direction!
The only real downside to this EP (and the subsequent album) is that it feels and sounds a bit fragmented, as if some of the material is little more than snippets of a bigger idea or concept. Just when you begin to get into some of the tracks, its on to something else..Perhaps in this day and age when everyone is force-fed soundbytes and the average attention span is measured in seconds this isn't a bad thing..(?) regardless, If you are a Who fan, there is enough here to warrent the purchase..Better yet, buy the ALBUM and pad the nest eggs of two old Sheppard's Bush Geezers who continue to stir the hearts of rock fans around the world! 'Oo, 'Oo, 'Oo!!

3 out of 5 stars Should have waited..........2006-11-10

I understand the full scale Who album that was just released far eclipses the "Wire & Glass"...

Overall very good. Sounds like old Who (Tommy era). The whole CD came out on 10/31/06. Very Good CD. If you are a true Who fan you will like it.

5 out of 5 stars You Better You Bet.......2006-12-09

Roger Daltrey has never been able to escape his legacy in The Who to have what many fans would have predicted to be a highly successful solo career.

But it stalled over the years due to poor choices in material, his political stance - during a promo tour he refused to cross a picket line of striking workers in the TV industry, knowing the cancellations would limit publicity and hurt LP sales - and playing the band's music without the moniker - he had to fund one tour literally out-of-pocket due to weak ticket sales.

But through these uneven times came a 1980 gem, the soundtrack to McVicar. The movie, in which Daltrey starred and co-produced, was about bank robber John McVicar, who co-wrote the screenplay.

And with The Who performing, along with tour keyboardist John Bundrick, it has a musical punch often lacking in Daltrey's material, though the songs were written by Billy Nicholls and Russ Ballard.

Free Me is one of the finest performances by Daltrey, with Bitter and Twisted & McVicar of equally outstanding quality. Two surprising tracks are the instrumentals - Escape 1 and Escape 2 - that fit into the flow of the CD, which oftentimes doesn't happen in soundtracks.

Maybe because Daltrey had a huge artistic investment in the project or due to the work of his bandmates without the music being written by Pete Townshend - and probably a combination of both - McVicar is his finest solo effort and an absolutely fantastic soundtrack.

5 out of 5 stars Roger Daltrey's best solo album ever.......2005-02-18

I have worn out 2 copy's of this album on vinyl. Now it's finally out on CD.This is one of Roger Daltrey's best solo albums out there.Although I liked the movie of it.And Roger Daltrey does a good job playing the Bank Robber John McVicar. The soundtrack is amazing. My favorite songs are 'Free Me','My Time Is Gonna Come', and many others too.I've been a Who fan for a long time. And 'McVicar' is one of the best Who albums I've listened to.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Absolute Best.......2004-11-05

I've listened to this recording on a cassette made from vinyl in 1985. McVicar is one of the classic Daltry albums that has more of a "WHO" flavor than any his albums that proceeded it. Anyone who has any type of WHO collection should add this IMMEDIATELY.

5 out of 5 stars A de facto Who album.......2004-09-12

Along with UARM, I consider this Roger's greatest solo album, and it works so well because it's a de facto Who album. Though there are other musicians present on the album, the fact remains that all three of the other bandmembers played on these tracks, even contributing backing vocals on a couple of tracks (such as "My Time Is Gonna Come"). Even his biggest solo hit, "Free Me," came from this album; it reached #20. It's sad how most of Roger's solo career was a joke, since he made horrible decisions about which material to record and with whom to work, coupled with how he didn't seem to be able to find a unique voice for himself as a solo artist. He needed the other guys in the band to be worth anything musically, and here it shines through brilliantly. Consequently, this is the soundtrack to the movie of the same name; it's said that Roger's performance as John McVicar is also his greatest acting role. The songs are great, the music is loud, hard, and rocking, Roger's vocals are top-notch, it features his famous primal screams, along with softer songs like "Without Your Love," it tells the real-life story of bank robber John McVicar very well (McVicar himself co-wrote the screenplay), and there is not a dull moment or throwaway song to be found anywhere. Right from the angry nasty energy of "Bitter and Twisted" all of the way through to the final crescendos of "McVicar," it majorly cooks.

5 out of 5 stars The Who- Live from Toronto- '82.......2007-05-07

Fantastic CD for any Who devotee. The additions of Kenney Jones on the drums (although short-lived) & John "Rabbit" Bundrick from Texas (kind of replaced the explosive drum work of Keith Moon), proved to make this one of the best Who concerts I've ever heard. I highly recommend you purchase the DVD as well, so you can see Roger & Pete at their best.

2 out of 5 stars This one's for completists only.......2007-04-15

Contrary to some other opinions, the Who is so not at their best here. They sound incredibly ordinary, and it's easy to see why they'd want to close up shop after this one if it's the best they could do. Their best live record, of course, is Live at Leeds, and I'd recommend finding an original release without the bonus material. The extra tracks are often extraordinary, but the original is a perfect disc. The Isle of Wight live disc was recorded just months later, and has a stronger set list but inferior sound. The best live disc without Moon is Live at the Royal Albert Hall. Some of it tops Leeds. Completists and Entwistle fetishists will enjoy Toronto for the Ox songs, Sister Disco, Drowned (full band version, Pete singing) and Eminence Front. REO Speedwagon fans will enjoy all the rest.

4 out of 5 stars I was at this show.. It was soooo fun........2007-01-23

I was 13 years old and I was at this show in December 17, 1982. It was in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens and it was strangely warm that day. (I remember only wearing a jean jacket). What a day! This is the show that was simulcast across North America, in the US it was called Schlitz Rocks America.

The only song missing on this CD (which was missing from the simulcast) is Cry if Want (they put commercials in the middle).

The sound wuality of this disc is great although the bass is very muddy. It would be great to have cleaner up.

Great purchase for those of you unfamilar with The Who live. This is The Who at the top of their post Moon days.

5 out of 5 stars Finally, a classic Who show gets a release on CD.......2006-11-02

The Who's 2-CD set Live from Toronto is a must for all Who fans.
The album was previously released on VHS as "The Who Rocks America 1982" and was recorded at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in December of 1982 and was initially their farewell concert (they eventually came back).
This performance was the last performance of The Who's 1982 lineup which consisted of original members lead singer Roger Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend and bass player John Entwistle (R.I.P. Ox) plus former Small Faces and Rod Stewart's Faces drummer Kenney Jones (who replaced the late Keith Moon in 1979) and keyboardist Tim Gorman (who only appeared with The Who for the It's Hard album and tour).
We begin with a spirited version of My Generation which was a great version. I Can't Explain is next and is a stellar version. Next is The Ox penned Dangerous (which also appears on the 1997 remastered It's Hard CD). Next is an awesome version of Sister Disco which is a killer version of this rocker from Who Are You. Next, The Ox (Entwistle) sings his great rocker The Quiet One. Next is a spirited version of the title cut to It's Hard (which also appears on the 1997 remastered It's Hard CD). We follow it with an excellent live version of Eminence Front (which also appears on the 1997 remastered It's Hard CD). Next is Baba O' Riley and what a version. Next is Entwistle's classic Boris The Spider which is a stellar version and has Townshend's demolition of Boris at the end. Next is a long version of the Quadrophenia track Drowned and has Pete on lead vocals and some extra verses at the end and stellar lead work from Pete and harmonica work from Daltrey. We end the first CD with a nice version of Love Ain't For Keeping.
Disc two begins with a spirited Pinball Wizard and we then segue into an excellent version of See Me Feel Me. Next is an excellent version of Who Are You. We follow it with an excellent version of 5:15. Next is possibly the best version of Love Reign O'er Me and gives me goosebumps each time I hear it. Long Live Rock follows and is a nice rocked up version of the classic. Next is the best version of Won't Get Fooled Again from the Jones era. We follow with the best version of Naked Eye I ever heard as it is slowed somewhat and just amazing. We follow with Squeeze Box and is a great version. We follow with a stellar Young Man Blues which was an awesome version though it's hard to rival the Isle of Wight or Kids Are Alright versions. We then end with a version of Twist and Shout which mirrored The Beatles' version before ending majestically.
There were three songs performed not on this album which were Behind Blue Eyes, Dr Jimmy and Cry If You Want (which also appears on the 1997 remastered It's Hard CD).
There is a three disc version of this available (which I found at Wal-Mart) and packaged in a digi-pack. The DVD is slipped in between the booklet and a cardboard slot, so pull out the DVD and put it safely in a DVD or CD jewel case for protection. The DVD is a transfer of "The Who Rocks America 1982" VHS video.
Excellent show and this is recommended!

rger daltrey out of the confines of the who as just being the fist bearin' singer he made an abosulte classic when he made "one of the boys" very track smacks of beauty and thought
and people said that members from a famous band can't make solo album well listen to this album and pepare to be amazed...
i first bought this on vinyl about three years ago and i played it regularly but as everyone knows vinyls wear out so i decide the other day to buy it on cd and i saw on the back you get a couple of bonus tracks not just the usual remxies this time
you get singles out-takes etc that are superb
the rest of daltrey's solo albums are un-even but are worth a listen
but if you want to get the full impact pick this up turn it up
and listen to some hard edged tracks and blissful ballads
yeah daltrey maybe the singer with the who and that's where his heart is but he was a fine solo artist
this album features two of the best songs ever written
    "leon" and "parade"

well done daltrey hopefully the new who album will be a success!

5 out of 5 stars One of the best of the boys..........2005-07-01

While I've always thought that "Ride A Rock Horse" was a stonger solo effort and "Daltrey" had better cover art (come on--half the fun is SEEING Roger!), this album was an enjoyable outing with one of the master voices of rock. So strong were some of these performances that they'd stayed with me without having actually heard them for over 25 years. Over those years I've found myself singing his version of "Avenging Annie," finding it a more dramatic reading than Andy Fairweather-Low's version, or humming "Giddy"---even more amazing because I normally can't stand the pinky-do side of Paul McCartney but can take it funneled through Daltrey's enthralling pipes. Other faves: "One Of The Boys," a solid rocker I haven't been able to get out of my head this week, and Lonesome Cowboy Roger's low-key yet yee-haw rendition of "A Single Man's Dilemma." Lovely, lasting work by an amazingly versatile and talented artist.

    4 out of 5 stars Roger Daltery---Solo Artist--Do It Again.......2005-03-20

It seems that Roger Daltery's strong voice seems to stand out more in his solo songs then with The Who. I noticed that when he sings Avenging Annie. Just wish CDNow has some samples that people could listen too. That might even help to sell some more CDs!

5 out of 5 stars Best Daltrey Solo Work.......2003-05-26

Good selection of songs, they fit perfect with Daltreys voice, which is brilliant on this recording.

4 out of 5 stars Strong Daltry on his own.......2001-12-20

"One of the Boys" is filled with strong material, well performed by Roger Daltry. Standout tracks are the dramatic "Leon", an enthusiastic "Avenging Annie", the brief but haunting "Doing it All Again", Paul McCartney's playful and interesting "Giddy", and the album highlight, an absolutely mind-sticking "Say It Ain't So, Joe". The other cuts are good, and grow on the listener with repeated plays. Well worth your time.

there's a handful of great songs, but they are all either on the first album (worth owning on it's own) or on the soundtrack with "free me" or the "under a raging moon" album. problem is this comp doesn't include many of the keepers off the first album or raging moon. at least the list price is pretty low.

3 out of 5 stars Not Quite Complete.......2007-01-15

The previous review from Joanne Chisholm does a nice job covering anything I could possibly say about what is included on the cd. I agree with all she says. This is a nice collection of Daltrey's song, but I only give it three stars because it does leave out a couple great songs and does not include anything from Daltrey's last album, Rocks in the Head. The subsequent Moonlighting collection is much more complete and diverse, and I do admit that my rating for this cd is partly based on a comparison to that compilation.

4 out of 5 stars Who fans unite!.......2004-12-31

Roger Daltry, one of rock history's quintessential voices, released a handful of solo albums (as did bandmate, Pete Townshend), and all of them created a different style of rock that was practically cut as classics by just the mere vocal talents of Mr. Daltry.

You are presented here with a fantastic look into what Roger Daltry would have been if the Who never happened and there is nothing to let you down. Roger rock's hard, in a Who vein, with "Free Me" from the McVicar soundtrack. And then is just as peaceful and easy going as any great ballader with his biggest solo Top 40 hit, "Without Your Love" (also from McVicar).

And then we see a different approach with the long lost track, "Walking In My Sleep", which is possibly one of the better songs written back in the mid-80's.

And the album closes with the Bryan Adams assisted cuts from Rog's Under A Raging Moon. And when Bryan Adams rocks he rocks well and gave Roger Daltry a great out-tro to an amazing rock career. Take note of the cut, "Let Me Down Easy", (possibly written for Adam's own Reckless set in 1984).

And the best was saved for last. "Giving It All Away" sounds like a Townshend masterpiece taken from the Lifehouse (or even Quadrophenia) sessions. "Giving It All Away" could very well be that long lost Who track many are desperately in search for and it's findings here on this collection is worth the entire price of the album.

Approprietly this collection needs a 5 star rating, the exclusion of his Elton / Taupin tribute, "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" was for all practical purposes, greatly missed here. But even Roger cannot release the perfect album or collection. Save that for The Who.
