Product Description
Here's the original wild woman of rock 'n' roll! She signed with RCA two months after Elvis and cut unvarnished rockabilly and rock 'n' roll for the next two years. RCA wasn't kidding when they dubbed her 'The Female Elvis'. Backed by the crack Nashville and New York session men, she cut 26 stellar cuts like Drugstore Rock 'n' Roll, Will You Willyum, My Boy Elvis, Bang Bang, Love Me To Pieces, Ooby Dooby, and Let's Elope Baby. All 26 RCA cuts are here together with a 1960 Palette session that included Teen Street and the honky tonk classic Cry Guitar. One of our very first CDs--and still one of the best!

5 out of 5 stars Willyou Janis?.......2007-06-07

This is a wonderful CD. I've always thought that Janis had an incredibly sexy voice and intonation. One of the great rockers (male or female) of them all. The instrumentation backing her is fantastic. And when I say a sexy voice, just listen to songs like "One More Year to Go" or "Blues,Blues,Blues". And when it comes to really raw rockabilly, "Let's Elope Baby" can't be beat. I'd say grab this CD while it's still available. Just a great collection of songs.

5 out of 5 stars This is one rockin' gal.......2000-09-08

This is one of the best rockabilly cds that I have bought all year. Her songs are amazingly fun, upbeat and although easily arranged, full of many complicated rhythms. Martin's voice is powerful and often times full of the heart and soul that rockabilly is all about. If you like your rockabilly straight forward and full of that "get up and go" this CD is a certain MUST HAVE!!!

5 out of 5 stars Some nice overlooked material.......2000-04-20

Janis Martin had a great voice, worked with the same Nashville musicians as The Everly Brothers and Elvis and cut simmilar material. The Female Elvis tag is really misleading as her records sound fresher and more inspired than a lot of the stuff Elvis was recording at the time. A well produced and good sounding CD.
