1 out of 5 stars Are you Kidding? I think he stole this song from Dr Suess........2006-11-04

With such haunting, provocative lyrics as: "you don't give a damn about goo what do you do?"...
"makes you disappear like glue, how do you do?"...
"I don't interefere with you, leave me to stew"
(I wish I was making this stuff up but these are acutual lyrics) it's a shame he's not writing speaches for George Bush. Ugh...

4 out of 5 stars John Taylor is Awesome!.......2006-03-04

I've always followed Duran Duran's career. Both John and Andy Taylor are amazing guitarists, especially with their Power Station album. This solo effort by John is tremendous. Beware though, if you're looking for the Duran Duran sound, you will not get it here. It's better than that!

5 out of 5 stars a powerful masterpiece from Duran Duran's bass player!.......2004-03-28

John Taylor never disappoints. He became a critically acclaimed bass player in Duran Duran; showed his "rock" side in the awesome Power Station, and then he went solo on this amazing classic "Feelings Are Good." Well, this whole album is "good!" He sings, writes, and produces everything on this album! I'm so amazed by his talent, I'm overwhelmed with emotion. John Taylor is the best and you should really get this album now!

John Taylor never disappoints. He became a critically acclaimed bass player in Duran Duran; showed his "rock" side in the awesome Power Station, and then he went solo on this amazing classic "Feelings Are Good." Well, this whole album is "good!" Critics everywhere from New York to London to Tokyo are raving up and down about this disc. He sings, writes, and produces everything on this album! I'm so amazed by his talent, I'm overwhelmed with emotion. John Taylor is the best and you should really get this album now!

5 out of 5 stars A long cry from Duran Duran.......2001-04-06

The first time I listened to this album I wasn't really sure what to think or even whether or not I liked it, it was so unexpected to hear something as gritty and raw as this. I had grown up a diehard Duran Duran fan, and John was always my favourite so when he made his first album I was pretty excited to say the least.

I was used to the more upbeat pop beats that Duran Duran is famous for, not this sort of punky rhythm and rough singing that I heard on this album. But the more I listened to it, the more I began to like it. The edginess and unpracticed sound of John's voice really lent to the entire feeling of the album. The songs on FAGAOL are extremely personal, much more so than anything that Duran Duran had ever come out with.

Two of the songs that really impressed me on this CD were:

FEELINGS R GOOD: A very personal song about learning that while life is painful it's all a learning experience. Everyone hurts sometimes, and although we might not realise it at the time, it helps make us stronger and to teach us something. This is also a song about dealing with the responsibilities of life and being accountable for your actions. Has a really raw quality to the singing that makes it all the more personal sounding and not like it was something that came out of a posh studio somewhere.

TRUST THE PROCESS: Another very personal song. This time about John's struggle with drug abuse and alcoholism and about getting his life back. This song is about putting all your faith in yourself, and knowing that you can defeat your own weaknesses. It's a song about finally hitting rock bottom and being strong enough to fight to get your life back. It's also a song about putting away your pride and putting your trust in others, instead of never heeding anyone's advice.

I highly recommend this CD although the full effect may not hit you until the third or fourth time you listen to it. It's an album that needs to be examined from all angles before you can get the full effect. Very few people have the strength to write about their personal experiences in such a brutally honest fashion, and I have to admire John for being strong enough to do it.

5 out of 5 stars John Taylor Feelings Are Good!.......2007-05-19

This is fantastic. John shows more of the punk, hard edge side of his music. This is a big departure from Duran Duran....and is sometimes very raw....but all John Taylor. Very cool!

1 out of 5 stars Feelings can't be good if this is called music.......2000-05-30

In a nutshell, this cd leaves alot to be desired. You'd think if John left Duran Duran,he may offer something better.NOT! If you are looking for former band members who are truly talented, this is the wrong Taylor. Andy is your man for that. This is catterwaulling at it's absolute worst. John is making a miserable and embarassing(for us and himself) attempt to prove he's 2 things he's not.....David Bowie and talented. In short, he's no Simon LeBon and if you want an experience with unforgettably BAD music...buy this cd. I'd recommend early Duran Duran or Andy Taylor for more savvy listeners

5 out of 5 stars Undoubtly Fantastic!.......2000-03-29

I really love this Album, and just as Much as all of Duran Duran's albums. It may seem rough or hard to listeners who haven't been or aren't at the moment Duran Duran fans. Duranies, have appercation for John's work, we know him and have faith in all of his work. As for the people out there critising John's lyrics, if you ever heard any of Duran duran's songs, you know they have their moments too. But That doesn't matter to me, I still love everything about John Taylor's album and Duran Duran's Albums. Never loose faith, Keep it up, John

5 out of 5 stars Great performance by John.......2000-02-27

This is the first time that I have listened to JT sings, and he is a great performer. I also have brought his subsequently released two albums in Japanese version. I wish that he continue to be a dominating rock star for this decade as he and his Duran Duran did for the last twenty years.

3 out of 5 stars ...But it's *JOHN*.......1999-10-16

I must admit that I gave this cd away immediately after listening to it. The music is good, but the vocals are really rough, and the lyrics... But it is John, so I give him an extra star just for the effort.
