this group did not realy exist but started as the flowerpot men two of there songs where credited to both in a moment of madness and young birds fly both excellant songs produced and mostley written by the very underated roger cook greenaway. the best song is by far is i/ve got you on my mind this song reminds me of a 1970 holiday to pontins near southport lancishire england of course the best part is the very underated tony burrows lead singer with many other songs at the same time a golden era of pop music vocal harmony like the beach boys all i can say is buy it!

When You Are a King.......2000-04-27

The White plains is a little-known British group (Robin Box,Robin Shaw, Pete Nelson, Ricky Wolff and Roger Hills) that created andperformed music in 1969-1974.

This CD's best track, and the one I got the CD for is definitely "When You Are a King" (track 16). This masterpiece was released in May 1971, and was given a cold reception at the time (reaching only the 13th place in the U.K. charts, and never entering the U.S. charts). Only now is this song getting the attention it deserved, including even a cover version just released here in Israel by a popular singer.

The rest of songs on the CD (and this is a very long CD: over 71 minutes of music) are nice, in the best tradition of the end of the sixties, but not more than that; "Dad You Saved the World" was quite exciting to hear for the first time, but the other songs were not. None of the other songs on this CD are popular today (at least to my knowledge).

I could give this CD 5 stars for the one great masterpiece "When You Are a King", ... the CD was made in Germany, and imported from there.
