Original Bad Girl.......2007-05-12
Before she was "Leather Tuscadarro" on happy days, before Joan Jett was a "Runaway" there was Suzi Quatro, "Bad ***, Bad Girl, Bass *******, Rock Chick". More popular in Europe than America, my brother saw her in Germany and I saw her in Bakersfield with Alice Cooper, during the "Welcome to My Nightmare" tour. I instantly fell for her bad girl anthem "Your Mamma Wont Like Me" and recently feeling nostalgic, I have listened to her greatest hits several times this year. Although you can't say that her stuff is on par with the great music of the seventies, it does have a certain appeal, especially in this overdubbed, synthesized music era.
If you don't know Suzi Quatro, be advised, she is more "Elvis", than say, "Heart" or "Hole", and more rock-a-billy, than classic rock. But she did fill her own niche.
not bad.......2006-02-08
This album contains some good music, but really, most of the songs are just filler. "Devil Gate Drive" is top notch, "Can The Can" and several others are pretty good, but your CD remote will come in handy for skipping a lot of the music.
Nostalgia at its best.......2000-09-12
Looking over the titles you instantly remember those hits which were top ten hits, starting with Suzi's distinctive raunchy, rough around the edges 'first hits'. Can the Can, and 48 Crash, Devil Gate Drive and so on. But listening to all the other tracks on this nostalgic CD you begin to realize she actually did have a 'good' singing voice. I was pleasantly surprised to suddenly start remembering (and hearing) all the other 'great' songs she performed besides the early hard rock tunes. I purchased this CD with the intent of only listening to maybe three or four tracks, and ended up being captivated by all the tracks. For me, money well spent.

Too Good!?.......2007-03-28
I have searched for a great Suzi Quatro collection, and this is it! There are all the most important hits between the years 1972 and 1979. I really love her voice. I think she is the rock queen together with Joan Jett who is also a great singer! Suzi Quatro didn't only affect by creating girl hard rock but also had a great influence on The Runaways which is the great female rock band ever! I have to say that without Suzi Quatro there wouldn't have been bands like The Runaways and Girlschool. She is the godmother of fem-rock! This collection includes 20 great hard rock songs, just like "Can the Can", "48 Crash", "Daytona Demon", "The Wild One", "If You Can't Give Me Love", and many more. I really love Suzi's singing voice. What more can I say? She's the rock lady.

Glam, bam, quality rock and roll from Suzi Quatro.......2006-03-02
Suzi Quatro was a great introduction to rock and roll when in my early teens in the 70 th`s here intense female light screaming vocal exploded in my ears . That`s fore sure. There`s no playlist listed here from this Import, but i have the first print from 1990, and Stumblin in is not included among these 20 greatest hits, but maybe EMI has included it in the 2005 print. But there are more enough goodie, goodies on the CD. It smashes directly into here megahit
Can the Can, a masterpiece from the songwriters Chinn/Chapman. Suzi "a rock and roll" scream queen, which plays bassguitar, with a heartbeat driven rythmic punch on the bass which realy set`s the standard. Track 2 48 Crash also delivers with much of the same quality as the previous one. Suzi voice has a raw scream quality, that fits perfect to this early 70 ths hit. Track 3 Daytona Demon, has a weird breathing on the vocal in the beginning, but doesn`t holds the same standard. Too much, too messy. In other words, "not to demonic" to give me a good creepy feeling.
Track 4 Devil gate drive. We are back in the simpel good rock and roll feeling. This one knows it roots, and its very well performed in every department. Track 5 Too Big, is a minor let down. It has the drive, thats for sure, but the little extra is missing. Great pianoplaying in the background, though.
Track 6 The Wild One, is not wild enough, and has nothing to do with other great songs with the same title. This is an orginal Chinn/ Chapmann production. Track 7 You mamma won`t like me. Just ok this one, funky it is anyway, Sometimes good, sometimes not. Track 8 I bit off more than i could chew. It`s Suzi doin "psychidelia" rock and roll for a change. Not for everybody taste. Track 9 I may be to young is a "honky tonky " rock and roller which swings ok. Track 10 Tear me apart, is a quality rock and roller, with good singin and a melody to follow. Track 11 Roxy Roller, has ecco, good bassdrive, but a melody which are easily forgotten.
Track 12 If you can`t give me love is a Chinn/ Chapman classic which realy delivers. It has drive, guts, and glory, and has much of the soundpicture as Stumblin in with the classic Smokie sound , where Chris Norman came from who sang duet with Suzi on Stumblin In. Track 13 The Race is on is something else for a change. It begin`s as a ballad, but suddenly changes in to a weird rythmic pop song, which is far from rock and roll. Track 14 She`s in love with you, is a song which has a refrain which goes on and on and on, and that`s it. Track 15 Mamas Boy, has much of the same problem. Track 16 I`ve never been in love is a good standard rocker with has heart and soul from the roots back from the 50 ths. Track 17 Rolling Stone, was here first singel from 1972, and has a ecco from flower power music, but sorry to say not to good. Track 18 All shock up, is an interesting take on the Presley classic, and it swing`s very well all trough. Track 19 Keep a knockin, is a classical rock and roller, where Suzi gives us an orginal interpretation off.
Track 20 Wake up a little suzi. A classic which The Everly Brothers and Ricky Nelson has done better with.
Anyway, this is glam, bam, quality rock and roll from Suzi Quatro, and a good introduction to the quality rock and roll "scream queen" from the 70 ths. If Stumblin in is included on this 2005 print, you are in for an extra gem, lucky you.
Johngy likes Suzi.......2006-02-15
Suzi Quatro was way ahead of her time. Had she arrived on the music scene 10-15 years later, she probably would have been one of the most successful female musicians. Instead, she is probably best remembered for her role as Leather Tuscadero on the tv sitcom 'Happy Days'. However, for those interested in some great rock music, Suzi provides it.
Suzi injects such passion and enthusiasm into her performances. The band is tight and keeps along with Suzi's energy.
My favorites are 'Devil Gate Drive' and 'Stumblin' In', but all of the songs on this CD are awesome. This is a great CD to play in a car with the windows rolled down on a sunny afternoon.
Suzi was a pioneer in female rock and roll history. If you ever get the chance to see Suzi perform, do not miss it. If you want the next best thing, check out this CD.
SUZI ROCKS!!!.......2005-10-24
Great music, good compilation...my only complaint is that they left off the Top 20 UK hit "Too Big"!
Underappreciated goddess in black leather.......2002-06-01
What was it about Suzi Quatro that made every pubescent boy in the mid 1970s weak at the knees? Long before Elle MacPherson and Flo-Jo stole the hearts of successive generations of teenage boys Suzi was the one who set the pulses of 14 and 15- year-olds racing. She was just as popular among young girls and people in their late teens and twenties as well. Supplied with excellent material from the Chinn/Chapman songwriting juggernaut (the Stock/Aitken/Waterman of the 1970s who also supplied material to Smokie, Mud, The Sweet and The New World among others) it is surprising that this very American lass had to secure a recording contract with a British label because the American labels considered her too raunchy for American tastes. She finally landed an acting role on the classic family sitcom Happy Days where she portrayed a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who was always in her sister's shadow. She managed to sing Devilgate Drive on the show, albeit in an amended form. Anybody who listened to radio in Australia, Europe and Japan during the 1970s couldn't have missed her songs and she still makes the occasional cabaret tour of Australia. Incredibly she has a daughter who is now almost 30! Although Suzi had few hits in the US this excellent compilation is now available Stateside as a local release. It even contains the incredibly rare 1975 single Michael (not released on any LP), but once again we are denied the slow version of The Wild One which appeared as the B side of the more familiar rock version in Australia (probably due to a tape mix-up). It has never been reissued. Suzi broke from EMI's RAK Records in 1979 and signed up with an independent label the following year releasing Rock Hard, a song which was a minor hit and which has also never been reissued. Maybe Rhino can do a compilation CD where all the classic and rare tracks are finally brought together. In the meantime this CD will do just fine.

Let Me Give Respect To A Childhood Heroine.......2003-07-22
I had looked up Suzi Quatro's name to see, if Amazon[.com] had her music and I was delighted to see that they do. This is the best compliation to get. 12 years ago a friend of mine gave me an import for my birthday. This is really worth the money especially since her music is hard to find.
As far as a child hood heroine,I was a big Happy Days fan. I loved the Fonz,Pinky Tuscadero and she had a baby sister named Leather. Suzi Quatro was in a few story lines and I remembered her performing a few songs. As much As I love and still do (Pat Benatar) Suzi was my first introduction, Girls can rock too.
So as a kid through television I (Stumbing In) to something.
ROCK-POP WITH A STING.......2003-05-20
Suzi Quatro had several musical incarnations during the 1970s, from leather-clad proto-punk to more mature pop chanteuse. Her early hits were aggressive three-chord ditties like Can The Can, 48 Crash, Daytona Demon and Devil Gate Drive, all done in her shouting vocal style. Later she actually started singing and had hits with beautiful ballads like If You Can't Give Me Love and She's In Love With You. Her duet with Chris Norman of Smokie, Stumblin' In, is included here, as are interesting covers of classics such as Fever, All Shook Up and Steve Harley's Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me). In retrospect, Quattro was quite original for her time and very successfully mined a pop-rock vein. Her contribution to the UK music scene in the 1970s was considereable and this album reveals her as a sensitive interpreter of intelligent compositions, in addition to the disposable pop.
Suzi was born to run..........2003-01-13
...and rock-n-roll! This is the only CD I know of featuring Quatro's version of Springsteen's "Born to Run", and it's worth a few bucks for this song alone. Most of the other selections, good ones mind you, can be found on the proper albums, but at least if you find this cheap you've got one solid rarity. "Make Me Smile" is a super-smooth come-on, "Mama's Boy" shows off Suzi's sassy side, "Daytona Demon" sounds like a cross between Joan Jett and T.Rex, and "Stumblin' In" is her buttery duet with Chris Norman(and her only big US single). It's a worthy package despite absolutely no pictures(aside fom the cover)or liner notes. B+
Quatro Rocks!.......2003-01-06
Just goes to show what North American record producers know. Along with Joan Jett, she became a world wide phenom in another country. Oh Suzi Q, you rock!
great cd.......2000-03-18
There is no doubt that Suzi Quatro would of been the artist to have the most greatest hits compliations released of any artist except maybe Elvis Presley.
This compliation stands out with its packaging, and, there is a 1977 version of Springsteen's born to run on it. But i think its time that EMI got off their buts and did a Box Set of Suzi's material, Its defenately overdue, if not that then a double great hits cd, Digitally Remastered.
