Casualties of the 1995 demise of its first record company, I.R.S., after three albums, Dada reemerges on a new label, MCA, with this eponymous effort. It's a solid effort, indeed. The Danny Kotchmar-produced album starts strong with "Information Undertow," a tongue-in-cheek Brit-pop-meets-Lou-Reed take on the media. "Playboy in Outerspace" is another standout, with its trippy Beck-like guitars and harmonies reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel. "California Gold" sports an uncanny resemblance to War's "Low Rider," but with Dada's trademark Beatlesque touches. Which leads to one complaint: Dada relies too heavily on its overpowering Beatles musical references. Still, Dada has come a long way since 1992's inexplicable hit, "Dizz Knee Land." --Lesley Holdom

I read that someone reviewed the lyrics as immature. Let me correct that by saying that it's overly misogynistic. Like over the top. And because it one-ups the likes of Little Jon, think on the level of 2livecrew and dj assault, AND the fact that each song is really smart ("Rick Rubin" is a great example of how smart the lyrics are), Spank Rock becomes straight genious.

The production is out of this world! The Baltimore club influence is strong, but with a funk and edge all its own. This album is in my top 5 all time, namely because it took me by surprise. Even those who don't generally like hiphop can appreciate this new genre that Spank Rock is creating, a electro-indie-rap-mash up. You could say that a fan of Girl Talk could easily transition to Spank Rock. Then maybe move on to Plastic Little.

I knew I would be biased from the get go since I know Naeem aka Spank Rock, but I must say that the album is truely impressive. Their style is definitely original and fills a gap of what the music scene is missing. Just listening to their music makes you want to party like a rock star.

I don't know how I missed this one in 2006. I haven't been too interested in hip hop lately, that is until i got this. I loved the stuff by APC, and Sage Francis always impressed. Clouddead's first release, as well as some stuff by Bleubird blew me away. Those guys were all taking things forward, to the next level.But unlike all those artists, Spank Rock, despite the seriously sick skills, should not be taken as seriously as those artists.

Anyhow, while falling asleep to Jimmy Kimmel one night, these guys took the stage towards the end of the program and made me jump out of my seat. By luck, this was at the local cd shop for a real nice price the next day, so i grabbed it. Honestly, the lyrics are a little juvenile for my liking, but again, I'd be foolish to take this too seriously. From the opening beats of "Backyard Betty" on to the very end, this lp doesn't let up for a second. It's a short sharp trip through some of the sweetest beats and rhymes I've heard in a long time. The minimal lo-fi style reminds me of some of Grand Buffet's best stuff, though a little better produced perhaps. Also, there are hints of UK garage and some excellent, nasty, spacey sounds going on throughout. I can see the indie crowd digging this much more than the generally narrow-minded hip-hop status quo, which is too bad, 'cause this stuff is truly fresh sounding--where hip hop should be right about now. I'm glad I took a chance on this one and look forward to more from Spank Rock and co. I give it a five for originality in a hip hop world gone stale.

It's like somebody put some Lil Jon on the stove and just left it there simmerin and simmerin. When they caught it, only the essence was left --this is it. The product is like just a bunch of neutrons and string theory an all that plus some extra funk in there. Spank will be on Da Muthaship. No question about that. Now he can just relax. You should get this record and do the same.

My favorite Doom Album.......2007-07-01

Doom puts together a fine album under one of his alias names. It's a MF Doom CD so your going to get nothing but tight beats and good rhymes from Doom and the guest apparences from M.I.C. If your a Doom fan then you should own this CD.

A True Schizo Indeed.......2007-06-17

Take Me To Your Leader is more a compilation than it is an album, but it still goes pretty hard. But I honestly have to say that I probably wouldnt give any of the other artists the time of day if they werent over DOOM's beats. This CD keeps pretty much the same comic book-like feel as the rest of Dumile's projects, so it stays entertaining from open to close. Virtually the whole CD is jammin, but I'm still havin a lil touble gettin used to the "dis-jointed rhythm" beats (Monster Zero & The Final Hour), but one track that I just can't stop listening to is 'The Fine Print', KG really killed that one, plus that beat is just plain sick. I would only recommend this one for already DOOM fans, cuz if you're just gettin into him, this one may throw you off a lil bit.

Dozens of aliases, but only one DOOM.......2006-10-10

DOOM took up another mask for this release, this time a Godzilla-inspired guise known as King Geedorah. The Three-Headed Monster delivered an album with epic production, and stupendous rhymes from the Metal Faced Villain. Though DOOM, the emcee wasn't on enough of this album's cuts(it'd have been in Vaudeville Villain/Operation: Doomsday territory if it was), he is behind the boards on the entire product. Some the emcees he collects for the product range from dope, to average, but none compare to Villain himself. When DOOM does flow over his own beats on this album, it's easily five stars; however, for the times we have to listen to an emcee like Gigan rhyme over a beat which should've been used for a Geedorah solo cut, I just can't feel comfortable giving this a five star rating. If it were anyone else, then it'd be five stars; however, this album taunts you, and in some cases, frustrates you by showing just how exsquisite it'd be if DOOM got more microphone time, instead of his vastly inferior guests.

Still, if you're a fan of DOOM, or any of his alter-egos, this is a must-have for your collection. If you're a fan of good, abstract hip-hop then you'll also appreciate this release. A wonderful album, which, unfortunately, could've been much better.

Absolute Classic..........2006-05-12

King Geedorah aka MF DOOM's second album, Take Me To Your Leader, is not as good as Operation: Doomsday, but not far from it. DOOM's use of old '50 B-movies and samples makes this more of a concept album than Op: D. The first song, "Fazers", is a timeless classic, and may be the best DOOM verse at that point. "Fastlane", ft. Kurious Jorge, is a very good one as well. Kurious, or Biolante, as he's named here, rides the track not very well until the 1st "chorus" comes in, and from then on, fuggedaboutit...

The next track, "Krazy World", with Gigan, is pretty good but gets a little annoying...but I had no idea of the magnitude the next song would bring..."The Final Hour", only 49 sec., is CLASSIC ALL THE WAY THROUGH...they even slow the beat down like in "Tick, Tick..." from Op: D. Whoo.

The first skit, "Monster Zero", is good, but you probably won't feel like listening to it all the time. It's just cut samples from Godzilla movies. "Next Levels", with only ID 4 Winds, Lil Sci, and Stahhr (noticed that DOOM's only been on 2 songs at this point?) is very, very good indeed. After that, it's the timeless classic "No Snakes Alive", featuring MF DOOM, MF Grimm, and Rodan, from MF DOOM and MF Grimm's EP, but revised, and a little more rapping from DOOM. "Anti-Matter", featuring Mr. Fantastik, may not be the best song on here (still "Fazers" at this point), but it certainly is the best song featuring an MC. DOOM and Fantastik are SO good together, it's crazy!

The next track, ANOTHER skit, "Take Me To Your Leader", the title track, is very monotonous, and slow. Shouldn't have put this skit on here.

And here we are with "Lockjaw", the next classic after "Anti-Matter", with only Trunks rapping. This song starts off SO damn GOOD, the intro w/ the bass bumping is..whoo-hoo! And then Trunks goes..

"Before I rock raps, I drink a keg of Listerine, then I spit the freshest rhymes never heard for centuries..." and gets better after that!

Next, we have "I Wonder", the 2nd least played track of mine (Take Me To Your Leader is #1) with only Hassan Chops rapping (DOOM's only been on 4 songs so far). He's all right, this one I give an OK.

UHHHH!!! Another skit!!! AAHH!!! "One Smart N*****", the next skit, is better than "TMTYL", but not as good as "Monster Zero". This one's about child illiteracy, and racial profiling. Real deep.

Uh oh! Here we go! The last song had to be a classic! And it is! "The Fine Print" is the ONLY song on the album (MAYBE "No Snakes Alive", "Fastlane", and "Anti-Matter", MAYBE.) that rivals "Fazers" as the best song. "Fazers" easily wins, but this song got damn close. First second of the song is CRAZY and it doesn't let up until the last second...

So anyway, some Pros of the album...

MF Doom doesn't get much better than this.......2005-09-27

The Metal Fingered Villain (aka Zev Love X, Viktor Vaughn, [born] Daniel Dumile) returns to the scene as King Geedorah with one of his greatest albums yet. Although Doom demolishes his peers on the two tracks he's featured on, this is more of a production feat for him. He spends most of the time behind the boards cleverly boasting samples from old Godzilla movies (among others), fused together with a enthralling production. The production has a lo-fi feel to it (since many of the samples are recorded straight from a VCR), but it certainly doesn't suck any life out of the songs. The production is often times inspiring, dark, creepy and uplifting. At first glance, I thought I wouldn't like this album that much because of the massive amount of guest rappers (which include Biolante, Gigan, Lil'Sci, ID 4 Winds & Stahhr, Jet-Jaguar & Rodan, Mr. Fantastik, Trunks, Hassan Chop), all of which I have never heard of. I was simply amazed at the unity of the album upon my first listen. And to my amazement, all the guest rappers are excellent, which isn't always the case with Doom releases. My favorites would include "Fastlane" featuring Biolante, "Krazy World" featuring Gigan, "The Final Hour" featuring MF Doom, "Monster Zero", "Anti-Matter" featuring MF Doom & Mr Fantastik, and "The Fine Print".

Clocking in at a tight 42 minutes, the album feels very complete, and completely stripped of filler. Anyone interested in hearing an alternate side of MF Doom (the production side) will find more than they were expecting. Definitely one of the best hip-hop records of 2003.

Super solid debut.......2007-03-28

Puzzle is the debut album from Dada, one of the best and most underrated bands to come out of the 90's. It's too bad that most people wrote Dada off after "Dizz Knee Land" saturated most radio stations to the point that it drove listeners to despise the band. If you only know Dada from "Dizz Knee Land", you are really missing out on one of the best bands to come from a decade of not-so-great music (with a few exceptions, of course...) Dada was the first concert I saw right after American Highway Flower was released. My friend and I were already huge fans, and seeing them at a local Junior College was a great first concert experience. There weren't many people there, so it made for an intimate concert, and we even got to meet the guys afterwards, which was excellent. OK, so I had been made a permanent Dada fan afer that point.
Mike Gurley is a phenomenal guitarist who has only improved drastically with every release. I could watch him play for hours and hours and still be amazed at the sounds he can produce with a guitar. The man knows how to rock, plain and simple, though it never shows as well in the studio. I would strongly recommend seeing Dada live for the full effect on Mike Gurley's awesomeness. The way Gurley and Joie Calio mesh with the vocal harmonies is really something to hear. Calio's bass work is tight, and he's a great singer also when he takes the reigns on vocals. Dada is one of the only TRUE rock bands to come out of the 90's.
The tracks on Puzzle:

1) Dorina-great lead off track, starts out mellow with some excellent solo work. 5/5
2) Mary Sunshine Rain-more of a straight up rock song with some nice acoustic guitar and pretty harmonies. 4/5
3) Dog-Another rock song, which I consider one of the weaker tracks. Has a good verse melody and kind of a 60's vibe. 3/5
4) Dizz Knee Land-We all know this one. I still love this song, it was the first song I heard by Dada. 4/5
5) Surround-A quieter but quick paced acoustic rock song with more of that 60's feel. Very pleasant. 4/5
6) Here Today, Gone Tomorrow- Good stoner rock. The spoken verse works well for me. Heavy on the flanger. 4/5
7) Posters-The Dada drum solo song. A fast paced rocker that Dada does so, so well. Awesome! 5/5
8) Timothy- A ballad complete with strings and some interesting lyrics. One of my favorites. 5/5
9) Dim- I believe this song was fleetingly popular also. Quick straight up rock song with a typical 90's sound. 5/5
10) Who You Are- A solid Joie Calio/Mike Gurley song with some awesome guitar licks and rockin' bass. 4/5
11) Puzzle- The title track; a slow spacy trip with swirling guitars. Kind of a 70's lo-fi sound and a great sing along chorus. 4/5
12) Moon- My favorite song on Puzzle. The Joie Calio ballad which builds to the end and finishes with a nice guitar solo. 5/5

Overall, I give it a 4/5. Very solid and competent debut album, nowhere nearly as good as El Subliminoso, but worth checking out. Definately see Dada live if you get the chance, it will be well worth it!

Unexpected gem.......2007-01-21

Heard "Dizz Knee Land" online (Pandora) and thought it sounded a little like Jellyfish - early '90s hooks. Disc is great, virtually every song a good one.

Incredible depth of talent.......2005-10-10

I never bother writing reviews but this band is so amazing, and this CD so incredible, I had to chime in. I agree with previous posts that it's surprising this group never got the credit it deserves. Each song has a depth and a display of musical talent I rarely find anywhere else. Each song is rich and powerful, and the lyrics vary between witty, powerful, and hilarious. I've listened to this CD (and their others as well) a thousand times and have never tired of it. You will not be disappointed.

Great Road Music.......2005-05-25

One of my favorite road trip CDs. I just don't know why this band is not bigger. Whenever I lend this CD to someone, they always come back and say it is great. Not sure if they remind me of the Almond Bros, Outlaws, Tom Petty or what, but they are great and the hard rock plus excellent vocals make this CD a gem.

A Rare Gem!.......2004-11-06

Dada showed up near my house for a concert in a smallish venue. A friend said they were good so I went. I was blown away. I didn't know any of their songs before that concert, but it was still great. Since that time I have become another dada fanatic. They are the greatest unknown band. It's too bad Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Rap took over the alternative scene, seriously. Give me back dada, Jellyfish, and Matthew Sweet any day. They also remind me of Oasis, but infinitely better. Dada also reminds me a little of Foo Fighters in way they don't take themselves too seriously (I don't dislike Nirvana, but like Foo Fighters and dada much better). Dada always has great guitar work and rocking songs, and they also have ballads that will either totally blow you away or make you cringe, they are just so good that they belong back in the days of Beatles, before the world was so cynical. Most people aren't embarrassed to sing Temptations "My Girl" or Beatles "Something," but for some reason they don't want to go there with a "new" song. Dada can take you there. They are behind the times and ahead of their time and that's part of their appeal, just damn good music. Like some of the other reviews have mentioned, you need to listen to a dada album a couple of times before it hits you. They have the best and most interesting harmonies out there today, excellent instrumentation, and unique lyrics. Puzzle has some of the most interesting songs I have ever heard, and if you haven't heard dada before, start there.

Let Me Explain..........2007-06-12

Getting a new Dada record is like going back in time and getting a new Beatles album- life changing, confusing, entertaining, a logical development you could never have predicted.
First and foremost, they ROCK here. Real rock. The stuff that makes your feet move, makes babies, creates an impressionistic splash of words and notes that somehow captures a moment, or an emotion, or a person, or is just so freaking COOL that you join in because it feels **SO** good!

Far and away my favorite song here is "What's Happening To Steven", though my second favorite is about a 6 way tie. ("Crumble", "Nothing Like You", "Guitar Girl", "Any Day the Wind Blows", "Reason", "Love Is A Wierd Thing") How good is it? My 10 year old son loved it from the first time he heard it and we sing along with it, (just like we do with "Who You Are" from Puzzle) over and over in the car.

I am in awe of the way Dada construct and then play their songs. Great melodies, Solid drum/bass/guitar sound, a range of tempos, the interplay of the three as they sing together and, usually, a stand-out guitar solo. And they repeat this fetching combination 10-13 times on each album.

Of course, "What's Happening To Steven" NEVER DOES explain what's happening to Steven- but that's part of the charm of it isn't it?

Another helping of the good stuff!

What's Left To Be Said?.......2005-04-30

After reading all of the superlative reviews of DADA'S latest release: "How To Be Found"; I find it incredible that these guys are still so relevent musically.I've found myself listening to this CD over, and over and each time finding something in the songs that I had'nt heard before. The last song "Love Is A Weird Thing" is by itself, an example of why I never get tired of listening to these guys. It starts out slow, and then builds to an emotionally charged dynamic ending. All the other reviews are right: DADA are back, and better than ever!

Not their best album, but still great.......2005-03-27

I've seen Dada twice, once back in 94, after the release of American Highway Flower, and again about a year ago. There is no way you can possibly conceive how incredible a guitarist Mike Gurley is simply by listening to their recordings alone. He is phenomenal, and it is beyond me why they have gotten no air play whatsoever, besides Dizz Knee Land and Dim. Gurley is one of the most interesting musicians to listen to--his guitar work will captivate you, and you will be astounded by the sounds he can make with his instrument. If I had to say, "gee, I sure wish I could play guitar like him", I would say it about Gurley, he is by far one of the best. As far as How To Be Found goes, it's very good. Lots of nice rockers, "No one Like You" is an incredible song and "Love is a Weird Thing" is also very good, two of my favorite songs by Dada, and the two standout tracks on this CD. I think this follows nicely along the path Dada has started on since they began recording, and though it's not their best album, take into consideration what they've done before--how could you top albums like American Highway Flower or El Subliminoso?? Those are landmarks in modern rock. All in all, fans should not be disappointed by this album, I wasn't whatsoever. If ever Dada comes to your town, you better go see them--they put on one of the most incredible shows, and I guarantee if you like Dada now, you'll like them ten times more after you experience them live!!!

A fan's disappointment.......2005-01-02

I've been a fan & have listened to their music since the early 90's. I got all copies of their studio releases but this is the worst to crash in to my collection. It seems the magic's gone...the vocal harmony & catchy guitar lines(how i wish i could play the axe that way!). For starters, I'd recommend "Puzzle" first because for me that's where my addiction to their music started.
To the "greatest roady trio", you got yourself a filipino fan...but my heart just sank on this latest release you had but still...more power to you guys!!!

The Greatest Unknown Band Returns to Top Form!.......2004-11-21

There was another review here that was quite negative, but it was because she thought she was buying something completely different! Dada has been around since the early nineties, and after a hiatus of sorts, they reformed to produce "How To Be Found". I'll echo what many other reviews and comments here and across the Internet say: dada is the most under-rated power trio of the nineties and now. These guys are musician's musicians! And HTBF is as good as their first album, "Puzzle". If you're new to dada, pick either or both of these albums, then dive into their other releases for more goodness. And if you EVER get a chance to see them live, you MUST go! You will not be disappointed ;-)

The album that started it all.......2005-01-07

this is the album that started it all. Now, scores of dedicated Sonia Dadaites exist, and pack concert halls whenever they perform. This band has something different. They are different kinds of people. They are truly gifted musicians and singers, and as nice of people as you'd ever want to meet. They'll stop and talk, sign autographs, whatever for their fans. They're as beautiful as their music. And there music is something to behold. It gets inside your head, your heart and your soul, and leaves you with the feeling that music should. If you've not heard Sonia Dada, do yourself a favor and give it a listen. You'll never be the same again.

I was looking for the new Sonia Dada record and noticed this CD had not been reviewed. To briefly sum up, Sonia Dada plays a mix of jazz, gospel, rock, and rhythm and blues. Although I typically steer away from adult oriented music this is one of my favorite CD's. The song writing is very good and the vocalists are amazing. Their first two CD's (this and A Day at the Beach) are my favorites.

Excellent, but...........2003-03-06

The songs here are great, the singers are great, and the musicians are great. So why only 4 stars?

The band here sounds rooted in the early-90s...with all of the nasty baggage that goes along with it. For every amazing guitar lick or fat bass line (sadly, the bass is a little hard to hear at points), there is an incredibly grating synth noise. It's too bad this happened, because this is otherwise an amazing album.

It's still worth buying, but one would be best advised to buy the album along with "Lay Down and Love It Live" - in which they really start to dig into these songs and play the hell out of them.

Music for the soul.......2002-02-23

The fact that these guys can pull off acapella live is incredible. I had the great fortune of hearing this cd when it was released and seeing them live 3 weeks later made me a lifelong fan. The harmonies are rich, the music original, the feeling of performance is deep from the soul.

This is a cd you share with your very best friends and rave about...maybe even loan it out...or not. I have been without for several years and just refound it online.

After you listen to and soak in the experiance of listening to this self titled disc, if you really want to blow your mind, realize one thing..... these guys can do it all live, and do it incredibly. It's almost overwhelming. You won't be disappointed.

Great, Old, Dancehall Album.......2004-06-17

If you are into Dancehall/Reggae and you don't have this album already -- go out and buy it.
Considered a classic by most.

This album has many great tracks: from "Ghetto Red Hot" to the bouncing bass of "Yush Talk".

Don Dada is also special b/c it talks about history, philosophy, and life.

It is albums like Don Dada that have helped shape the sounds that are found in dancehall today.

There also is contributions made by rapper Heavy D,who was popular at the time of this album.

The only thing I wished was on this album is the "Ghetto Reh Hot" remix that was made into a music video and can be found on vinyl.

Super Cat is the man aka Wild Apache. If your a fan of Dance Hall. This is a must have in your collection. All tracks on this CD are great. An Album classic.

Been a huge Dada fan since Puzzle & Dizz Knee Land (which was originally titled Disneyland on the pressing. Disney sued due to the "violent" nature of the subject matter, and subsequent issuances were re-spelled to pacify Disney (now a promoter of some far,far worse content in thier media). IMHO this is the best trio, if not the best band to come out of the 90's. It is very sad that they did not meet with more financial success. But they have put out music that is unequalled in it's muscianship, and complexity & simplicity at the same time.
I saw them live 1 time, at Ziggy's in Winston-Salem NC in 2004. It was an amazing night I'll never forget. Michael Gurley was there playing with the flu, no less, what dedication! They sounded flawless.
This CD is a great capture of thier in concert ability.
Joie Calio's performance of "Moon" is alone worth more than the price of the CD.
I find myself at a loss for words to describe the talent this trio exhibits......

This CD aptly captures the live vibe of this talented band. As the band's first live album, the clarity of sound does justice to the complex musicianship and strong songwriting. The song selection is well balanced and shows off dada's considerable range and talent. A great live album from a brilliant live band.

Modern Sanatanaesque.......2005-02-04

I saw dada in concert a year ago and have been a dada fanatic ever since. This is the first album I bought (at the concert). I love this album, but didn't become a dada fanatic until I bought their 5 studio albums. You can get most of their albums here, but should check out their store at dadatheband.com since some are cheaper there (several of their albums are sold out there so you need to get them here). This album is best for someone who loves dada already or loves to watch Santana in concert, for example. With this album you get a nine minute version of Ask The Dust, a drum solo that moves into their song Posters and audience participation with their two anthem songs - Feel Me, Don't You #$@ and Here Today, Gone Tomorrow. You also get a wonderful live versions of Dizz Knee Land and A Trip With My Dad. These three musicians are phenomenal. If you don't own any dada music, start with Puzzle. You can get the used IRS version cheap, but they have a new release with bonus tracks that you'll want to pick up later (so you may want to start with those anyway). All of their albums, including their solo albums are fantastic. If you like 60s psychedelic music, then pick up How To Be Found. I think their albums dada and El Subliminoso have more of a Alternative/Modern Rock feel, and American Highway Flower has a slight southern rock feel. All of them are 90s alternative with superior musicianship and harmonies.

My Friend Joey C.......2004-06-17

Hello, I became a fan in 92 when a stereo store clerk demoed the new "DADA - Puzzle" CD for me. I went to see them open for STING in SEATTLE the following year and met the Band at a bar where they played again that night. They were even better in that dark, crappy little club! They were very approachable and signed autos & CDs. 5 years later my friend calls and says she just got hired as a nanny for this bass player from LA that just moved to Seattle. NO WAY! I got to come over and hang out with Joey Calio @ his house and we started Mountain Biking 5-6 times a mo. Well it's been 5 years since then and I am still a huge fan! I just went to see my friend in another dark, crappy Seattle Club. And I bought This CD plus the New Joey Calio & New DADA studio CDs, and Joey & the band signed them all! I play them all the time. GREAT guyz & Great Musicians! Buy all thier music! ;-)

Perfectly captured.......2004-06-16

This is a band that was sorely overlooked in part because of their record company's demise. They truly have it all.. songwritting, great vocals and excellent musicianship. Unfortunately I've never seen them live however this cd does a great job of capturing them fleshing out some of their best songs. It is a good introduction to this trio.

This is one fantastic cd, more people should know about it! Sonia Dada plays a wide range of styles and sounds on this one. The vocals and bass lines are simply some of the best, along with inovative rythms from the percussions. Buy it, live it and love it (just don't go giving your love away).

Well, it seems Sonia Dada has managed once again to rip out my heart while making me smile the whole time. Lines like, "Fat Jack had a heart attack, he was slumped over dead behind the wheel of his cadillac" and "She don't wanna talk about it anymore, lost the battle, baby, lost the war," make this an unforgettable ride through the strange, surreal land of Dada. And the rythym, that funky, bluesy, spiritual trademark of S.D. has never been richer than it is in "My Secret Life."

One that I give away..........2000-04-21

It is almost impossible to know if others will like a tune when they hear it for the first time. Consequently, choosing music to give as a gift is often a waste of time and money to both parties. This is one of the CD's which I believe should be given anyway. Aside from a variety of styles making this CD a delight to listen to, the stories , though sometimes a bit dark, are intruiging as well.

A Day at the Beach.......2000-04-12

I can listen to these guys forever. Every tune is either happy and upbeat or smooth and pensive. They are all excellent. Some of Sonia Dada's stuff reminds me of Little Feat, but they have a greater range of sound and content --imagine a rock, gospel, R&B and folk melange. I want to hear them all over the radio. And no, I'm not sleeping with a band member. I just really love their music.

Having seen Sonia DaDa at Nashville's Dancin in the District, ( the biggest draw of the entire 15 week season )music fans and retailers alike have to get ready for business when S.D. comes to town. ITS GONNA BE 10,000 plus @ this show..A Day @ the Beach is exactly what it feels like.. when the music is over you realize its just the damn Cumberland River after all.

The Best of Their Studio Albums.......2000-03-17

This CD is a gem. Their eclectic blend of rock, rhythm and blues, jazz, gospel, and funk will knock your socks off. No two tracks are alike and show the wide ranging talent of this band. I would single out individual tracks, but all of them are excellent. Having listened to this album for 5 years, I still enjoy "jamming" to it and never tire of hearing this band get into a groove. Sonia Dada is the real deal. Check them out!
