The only boxed set covering their entire 36-year career. Produced with Chicago's involvement, this massive collection gathers over 100 songs on five CDs. It features hit singles, classic album cuts, band favorites, and three previously unreleased tracks from the fan-requested Stone Of Sisyphus project. A bonus DVD contains rare 1972 concert performances and a promotional film for Chicago XIII. Extensive liner notes include two essays, detailed track-by-track analysis, and a ton of archival photos.
Walter Parazaider (sax, woodwinds), Lee Loughnane (trumpet), James Pankow (trombone), Robert Lamm (keyboards, vocals), Terry Kath (guitar, vocals), Danny Seraphine (drums), and Peter Cetera (bass, vocals) formed Chicago in the Second City in 1967. They released their debut album, Chicago Transit Authority, in 1969. The double LP sold more than two million copies on the strength of sweet pop hits and psychedelic rock explorations that appealed to traditional Top 40 fans as well as hipper listeners tuning in to the new free-form FM radio.
This was just the start of Chicago's enduring popularity, which includes five consecutive #1 albums, 21 Top 10 singles, and worldwide sales of over 120 million. Chicago continues to be a major concert draw, their lineup now including Bill Champlin (keyboards, vocals), Jason Scheff (bass, vocals), Keith Howland (guitar), and Tris Imboden (drums), along with founding members Lamm, Parazaider, Loughnane, and Pankow.

Robert Cray says that Buddy Guy's guitar solos sound like laughter from space, but they can also peal like the cries of lost souls attempting to cross the River Styx. If these 47 songs on three CDs plus a DVD boasting a new 75-minute documentary and six performances from the Montreux Jazz Festival prove anything, it's that Guy is one of the most dynamic, diverse, expressionistic, and emotional guitarists--in any genre. The set neatly examines the 70-year-old Chicago blues legend's half-century career, starting with a ragged but soulful "The Way You Been Treating Me" cut in 1957 at a radio station in Guy's native Louisiana that finds him developing his searing, exploratory style. A year later, he's in Chicago working with tunesmith Willie Dixon, and the rest is history (chronicled in Anthony DeCurtis's excellent lines notes) that leads from the glory days of Chess Records to Guy's early breakout recordings for Vanguard to his modern-day mastery. The most recent recordings often find him working with acolytes: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Keb' Mo', Jonny Lang, Bonnie Raitt, Keith Richards, and John Mayer (who duets with Guy on the unreleased "I'd Rather Be Blind, Crippled & Crazy"). B.B. King, who along with Guitar Slim was Guy's most important early influence, also joins Clapton and Guy on a stirring acoustic version of John Lee Hooker's "Crawlin' Kingsnake." This set makes the argument for Guy's ever-continuing growth as a musician--not only as a player whose frenzy, improvisational instincts, and tonal control keep stretching with age, but as a stylist who was unafraid to put aside his trademark electric approach in 2003 to make the acoustic Blues Singer (represented here by "Bad Life Blues" and the Hooker tune) and to embrace primal North Mississippi juke joint music with Sweet Tea, which lends this set a pair of Junior Kimbrough covers. Guy's sole artistic weakness is his songwriting. He's never been prolific, and even in the '60s his lyrics drew on well-established clichés. But, as these performances attest, his playing's never been less than daring--and his voice knows every nuance of heartache and joy. --Ted DrozdowskiCustomer Reviews:

This Buddy Guy DVD is a Must!.......2007-04-16
"Messin' with the Kid" and "Come On This House" are also gems from Montreux in 1978. On the first two tunes in 1974 they were essentially backing Muddy Waters (as they did in the 1950s) but here they are stars in their own right after the release of their early 1970s hit LP. It is great and features "Fast Fingers" Jimmy Dawkins on second Guitar (his only ever early video clip as far as I know! He is also featured on the recent Delmark release "Tail Dragger"). He plays a better solo on "Messin' With The Kid" than Buddy!
"Sweet Little Angel", a Robert Nighthawk hit and B.B. King tune recorded many times (B.B.'s most famous version: "Live At The Regal")has been done many times by Buddy too. This one is done at Montreux in 1992. I like his version on the "Real Deal" DVD with the SNL Band. This however, is also a strong version.
"Damn Right, I Got The Blues" is from Buddy's comeback period commencing in the early 1990s when there was a short Blues Revival period following the death of SRV. We are still at Montreux in 1998 and the band cooks for this performance. It is great.
"Drowning On Dry Land", "Tramp",and "Mustang Sally" are from Montreux again in 2002. It is important to note that these are NOT the performances issued last year with the Carlos Santana package. These are good, but in all honesty, the band on the Santana set is much better, for one thing the keyboardist from Otis Rush's band is magnificent. Buddy does the Buddy thing at the end and sings without a mike when it fails.
The final two performances are acoustic, something he has added to his shows since the middle 1990s. The performance of "What I'd Say", since Ray Charles has died, is particularly interesting. The solo acoustic "Louise McGhee" from 2004 closes the set.
The 75 minute documentary with this DVD is also a must to see. OK, most of it we have heard many times over the years on other releases, about going to Chicago (he remembers the day in September), and meeting Muddy Waters who fed him and so on. This is all well done and presented and you can watch this many times. The snippets of performances are what really shines here. "Red House" with Joe Satriani is cool and the clips of him (I think it's at Antones!!! In Dallas!) of "The Things I Used to Do" and others we wish they would release that whole set!!!!
Interesting final note: this DVD like so many Blues DVDs in the last 5 years or so (AFBF 3 Vols; Albert King in Sweden and more)was produced by Janie Hendrix and Experience Hendrix Productions. Janie Hendrix is not Jimi's daughter if you are interested. Jimi's father Al remarried and Janie was his stepdaughter from his second marriage.
BUDDY GUY DVD MUST HAVE FOR ALL FANS.......2007-04-16

The unwritten rules for doo-wop groups were deceptively simple: name your group after a bird (the Wrens, the Flamingos) or a car (the Cadillacs, the El Dorados), practice your two-, three-, or four-part harmonies on a neighborhood street corner or in the back of a candy store, and sing songs about how much you love your baby. It might have seemed like an obvious formula, but getting it just right was never easy. When it worked, that formula created some of the most joyful and unforgettable music of the 20th century. From the Orioles ("It's Too Soon to Know") to Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers ("I Want You to Be My Girl"), this four-CD collection is without a doubt the definitive introduction to the rock & roll vocal music of the 1950s and early '60s. --Percy KeeganCustomer Reviews:

the original era of rock music.......2007-01-19
Can u imagine life as a teenager before 1953? having to listen to your parents music? THe andrews sisters? Yuck. These artists contributed not only to MUSIC but the state of world culture in an unimaginable way. They are certianly unsung heros that put way more on the line than white boys from England ever did.
the booklet alone is worth the price. i paid 60 dollars originally for this. One of 3 in a series. I have all 3, the only 3 box sets I own. I do a college rock radio show in LA and these gems are fun to squeeze into the show.

Each of these performances has its own profile. The orchestra plays incisively in the First Concerto, but Ashkenazy's plush lyricism doesn't make a good match either with the orchestra or with the music, and he makes one weird ritard in the first movement. The Second Concerto is uneventful, rather bland and pleasant. The Third Concerto seems to be the best performance of the lot, with dramatic playing by soloist and orchestra, but it's sabotaged by blurry recorded sound, the only serious problem with sound quality in the entire set. The Fourth Concerto is enlivened, at least intellectually, by Solti's approach, constantly revealing interesting unfamiliar details in the orchestral score. Ashkenazy's detachment makes this a frosty but fascinating experience. The "Emperor" is a good routine performance, nothing special. The Bagatelles aren't much of a bonus, since they're rather dully played. (Why not the "Choral" Fantasy?) There's nothing actively bad about this set, and it's reasonably priced. But Beethoven deserves better, and gets it from many performers, including the fascinating Uchida-Sanderling collaborations. --Leslie GerberCustomer Reviews:

wished it was not a set.......2006-10-27
Wonderful set!.......2005-05-03
What is Ashkenazy up to?.......2004-05-16
To me, it seems as if Ashkenazy has no sense of style. His approaches to these concertos are more lyrical and romantic rather than classical. Take the first, for example. Ashkenazy treats the piano line as if he were playing Chopin. Solti, on the other hand, seems to feel that louder is better. Thus we have a very bizarre dialogue between piano and orchestra in the C major concerto. The second isn't much better. Although Ashkenazy gives a much better reading, Solti again feels that the CSO must play as forcefully as possible. The concerto is rather bland in the first place and Ashkenazy's approach is nothing special. The third concerto is wonderfully played by both Ashkenazy and the CSO. Ashkenazy treatment of the piano line is more classical while Solti's boisterous approach actually works in this powerful work. However, poor recording conditions (the evident hiss in the background) ruin the largo. The G major concerto is the most interesting in the set. Solti's treatment of the orchestra accompaniment is quite inspired - this is Solti at his most tender. However, Ashkenazy's icy interpretation is detached, it seems as if he and Solti are on two entirely different pages. Although the recording is remarkable in its beauty, Ashkenazy's lack of warmth leaves a chilling cloud over the performance. The fifth is nothing special. Solti is back to being loud and Ashkenazy gives a good, routine performance.
All in all, even at a budget price, this set is not highly recommended.
Beautiful, but not perfect.......2004-02-16
Having problems in the Fifth is almost unforgivable in a concert like this, and is the main reason to give only 3 stars instead of 5.

What Box Sets Are All About - Sit Back and Enjoy.......2006-07-06
This is the first definitive career-spanning box set by Chicago. Group Portrait would please the Kath/Guercio era fans. But I'm sure there are a number of post-Foster fans that love discs 3 - 5 but can do without #s 1 and 2.
Let's face it, folks, this is Chicago. Take it or leave it - they are a band that spans many different eras and styles. There is something for everybody, if there isn't everything for anybody.
To those one and two-star reviewers, look again. The hits from each album are included, but as much as possible Rhino has added some extra Kath in the early era, and extra Lamm in the later. This is why "We Can Stop The Hurtin'" and "Forever" were included. You have to have the hits in a box set - and Rhino has chosen wisely which extras to include.
Is it the list of songs I would have chosen? Of course not! In fact, I might have altered it by as much as 50%! But that doesn't mean I should whine and give it two or less stars! I love playing this set, and Disc 5 is dynamite, especially with the Stone of Sisyphus sampling! If there is one thing that disappoints me about the entire thing, it would be that they should have ended it on a Chicago-esque high point. The final track should have been "Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher", or a standout live track from Chicago 26, like Beginnings. As it is, it does seem to just peter out (no pun intended).
I am confident that Rhino will mine the Chicago vaults for unreleased cool stuff over time. They have only completed phase one of the Chicago remasters. Look for all of Stone of Sisyphus and other mythic tracks left on the cutting room floor to appear in future collections!

Their is alot of stuff I didn't like about disk 2. They choose not to add anything from IV carnegie hall, such as "a song for richard an his friends" they could of added a live version of "25 or 6 to 4". you can't not exclude music from one their most successful and popular records. I didn't like that excluded music from "live in a japan" they should of added "lowdown (japenese ver)" and "questions 67 & 68 (japanese version)" I would of used different songs from VII such as "aire" , "devils sweet", and "italian from NY" They sould of added "where do we go from here ?" from "chicago". They should of included the attire "travel suit". it would take another disk but it be worth it. I do like all 19 tracks from disk 2

Best known for his work as a songwriter, producer, and talent scout, singer-bassist Willie Dixon essentially built Chicago's Cobra and Chess labels with his sweat. Although this double-disc set does include five performances by the man from Vicksburg, Mississippi, himself, it's really a testament to his songwriting prowess, packed with recordings that made his tunes classics of blues and early rock & roll. There's Howlin' Wolf tearing through "Spoonful," "Little Red Rooster," "Evil," and "Back Door Man." There's Muddy Waters belting "You Shook Me," "Hoochie Coochie Man," and "I'm Ready." There's Bo Diddley delivering "You Can't Judge a Book by Its Cover" and Koko Taylor launching her career with "Wang Dang Doodle." The set features excellent liner notes, and its only disappointment is that its label-centricity excludes Dixon's work for Cobra with then-youngsters Otis Rush and Buddy Guy. --Ted DrozdowskiCustomer Reviews:
Original recordings of Willie Dixon's songs.......2007-06-22
Dixon started out as a studio bass player with Chess Records when it was a fledgling company started by the Chess brothers. The present set includes 36 songs written by Dixon, and performed by a variety of artists in addition to Dixon including Muddy Waters (Hoochie Coochie Man, etc.), Howlin Wolf (I Ain't Superstitious, etc.), Bo Diddley (Pretty Thing, and You Can't Tell a Book by its Cover), Koko Taylor (Wang Dang Doodle) and many others.
The boxed set is a must addition for your collection if you have a serious interest in blues. It also makes a good gift.
I would note that the Vicksburg Blues Society and others served as co-sponsors of the Willie Dixon Wang Dang Doodle Blues Festival held in Vicksburg in 2006. The City of Vicksburg has added a Willie Dixon mural to the murals on the Mississippi River floodwall near Catfish Row (the southern end of The Delta). The mursl, featuring the legendary Blue Room in the background, was painted by the noted mural artist Robert Dafford under the sponsorship of local blues patrons Ray and Nancy Neilsen.

A terriffic addition to your blues collection.......2003-04-22
There are bound to be some tracks, especially by Waters and the Wolf, that overlap with what most blues lovers already own, but the "Chess Blues" compilers have done a very fine job assembling dozens of rarer tracks by artists like Robert Nighthawk, Sunnyland Slim, Otis Rush, Memphis Minnie McCoy, Lowell Fulson, Willie Mabon, Elmore James, Jimmy Oden and many others. And these high quality tracks, which make up the vast majority of the 101 cuts, make "Chess Blues" a very welcome supplement to the many available compilations featuring Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson II and Little Walter Jacobs.

Toe Tapping music - but disappointing DVD!.......2007-02-08
CD1 is the same as the Cast Recording that I purchased before.
CD2 was a bit of "fun". It was interesting to hear the songs that were cut from the "new" show and it's not a great leap of the imagination to see why they probably were. It was also interesting to hear other peoples renditions of various songs from the show. Especially people like Liza Minelli, Melanie Griffith and even Linda Carter (yes, our very own "Wonder Woman").......
While I love the show and the music of "Chicago", I have to say I was disappointed by the DVD in this set. The feature about the re-opening of Chicago, was informative, but would have been better if intersperced with clips from the show(s) or even rehersals. The section that I was most excited about, the stage numbers of "All That Jazz", "All I Care About" and "When You're Good To Mama", were not the entire numbers recorded from a stage production......nor were they in English! There were clips from various productions (Japan, Germany...and a few others) all edited together to give the viewer a brief "taste" of the song in different languages.
I would have been much happier with the 3 songs, recorded from the stage production, sung in their entirity, in English.
That is the only bad thing I have to say about this set.
Definitely a buy for huge "Chicago" fans only. For the more casual admirer, go and buy the original cast recording album.....you'll be just as happy!

This is probably the best Wolf compilation there is in terms of comprehensiveness and digestibility. The problem with collecting the works of prolific artists is that there's so much material; fortunately, Chess made some good selections. Chronicling Howlin' Wolf's career from Memphis, through Chicago, and on into his later years. There are snippets of interviews, as well as the classic tracks you'd expect: "All Night Boogie", "Howlin' For My Darling", "Evil", "Forty Four", "Spoonful", and "I'd Better Go Now." This box set is a bit much to swallow if you're not already a fan of the Wolf, but if you are, this is a great way to get his best work in one place. --Genevieve WilliamsCustomer Reviews:

The ultimate Wolf collection.......2003-08-24
Just under 3 1/2 hours of music, opening with Wolf's eerie, wordless "throat singing" on 1951's "Moaning At Midnight", and ending with the opening track, "Moving", off his final studio album.
A lot of people have covered Wolf's songs, but none have come close to matching his ferocious sandpaper voice, and Howlin' Wolf in his prime was without a doubt the most electrifying performer the Chicago blues clubs had even experienced. Standing 6'4" and weighing 275 lbs, Wolf towered over everybody, literally as well as figuratively.
Starting off as a strict Charley Patton-imitator, Chester Arthur Burnett showed up in the juke joints of Mississippi in the late 30s with one of the first electric guitars anyone had ever seen, and when he finally started recording (for Sam Phillips' Sun Records in 1951), he was 41 years old and had been performing for two decades down in the cotton belt.
He suddenly had two hits on the R&B list at the same time ("Moanin' At Midnight" and the clanging, piano-driven "How Many More Years"), and in the winter of 1953, Wolf headed out of the South (in his own brand new $4,000 car), settling in Chicago, Illinois, where he would record for Chess Records right up until his death from kidney failure in January, 1976:
"-I'm the onliest one", he said, "-drove out of the South like a gentleman!"
"The Chess Box" collects every hit the Wolf ever had, as well as B-sides, album tracks, rare acoustic solo performances, and a few short interview snippets. The only thing that could have made this collection any better would have been a fourth CD of live tracks.
The first CD collects Wolf's singles from 1951-1955, including the up-tempo, R&B-styled "Mr Highway Man" (excellent piano playing by Albert Williams), the Charley Patton-classic "Saddle My Pony", a remake of John Lee 'Sonny Boy' Williamson's "Bluebird" (oddly credited to John Lee Hooker), the classics "Evil" and "Forty-Four", and the harp-driven "Just My Kind".
The first fifteen songs feature Wolf's original lead guitarist Willie Johnson, after which Lee Cooper takes over.
Johnson's aggressive, fiery guitar playing suited Wolf's songs perfectly, and he was surrounded by a slew of excellent blues pianists, from Ike Turner to L.C. Hubert, but around 1955 a more fixed band constellation started to take form, featuring bassist, arranger and composer Willie Dixon, and a fabulous young guitar player, Hubert Sumlin, who would stay with the Wolf right up until his death, and who became an idol for guitar players like Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page.
Disc 2 is even better, mixing Wolf's originals with Willie Dixon's more contemporary compositions. Highlights include the all-time blues classic "Smokestack Lightnin'", composed by the Wolf himself, and featuring some of his best harp playing, as well as axe-men Hubert Sumlin and Willie Johnson playing side by side (one of only two sides where they appear together).
And then there's Wolf's take on Tommy Johnson's awesome "I Asked Her For Water (she brought me gasoline)", Dixon's "I Ain't Superstitious", "Shake For Me", "The Red Rooster", "Howlin' For My Darling" and "Down In The Bottom", and the classic "Sitting On Top Of The World". The supremely catchy "(Meet Me) Down In The Bottom" features Johnny Johnson on piano and Jimmy Rogers on guitar, but it's Wolf himself playing the fills and the main slide guitar riff heard during the intro and the instrumental break, and he plays as well on "The Red Rooster", "You'll Be Mine" and several other tracks.
Disc 3 opens with one of Willie Dixon's best compositions for Wolf, the up-tempo, almost rock n' roll-like "Hidden Charms". Backed by two sax players, Donald Hankins and Elmore James' saxist J.T. Brown, Hubert Sumlin lays down what has been called the best guitar solo ever recorded.
Dixon's other contributions, the silly "Three Hundred Pounds Of Joy" and "Built For Comfort", are almost novelty songs, but the superb arrangement makes them work.
And the rest of the disc features mainly Wolf's own songs, plus a powerful rendition of "Dust My Broom", and a 1970 recording of "The Red Rooster" featuring Eric Clapton, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts and Stevie Winwood.
The sax-augumented "Love Me Darlin'" rolls along like a steam train, creating a magnificent groove, and Wolf's gravelly vocals on "I Walked From Dallas" and the awesome "New Crawling King Snake" must be heard to be believed.
CD 3 also includes two interesting acoustic solo performances, as well as the funky "My Mind Is Ramblin'" and "My Country Sugar Mama" (fine harp playing by the Wolf), and the menacing "Commit A Crime".
But the best song on the disc (and probably the best song of Wolf's career) is without a doubt the magnificent "Killing Floor", Howlin' Wolf's own composition and one of the defining classics of electric Chicago blues.
It opens with a supremely catchy guitar riff from Hubert Sumlin (Buddy Guy is playing the acoustic slap-back rhythm guitar), and the two-sax horn section of Arnold Rogers and Donald Hankins plays soul-revue stabs. And when the mighty Wolf finally opens his mouth it becomes clear that though Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix may have nicked the riff, the song itself belongs forever to the Howlin' Wolf, and those who dare try to cover it do so at their peril.
An essential addition to any serious collection of electric blues.

For the completist, this three-CD, 72-song box remains the definitive collection of one of the leading lights of Chicago blues. The collection spans 25 years, beginning with rare early recordings with pianist Sunnyland Slim and moving through Waters's peak '50s period, which offered the legendary support of Jimmy Rogers, Little Walter, and Otis Spann. Luminaries including Pat Hare, James Cotton, Earl Hooker, Buddy Guy, and Pinetop Perkins all make valuable contributions to his '60s work. Along with his original hits and his noteworthy Willie Dixon interpretations, Chess wisely includes his lesser-known covers of Big Bill Broonzy, Howlin' Wolf, Guitar Slim, Jimmy Reed, John Lee Hooker, and Sonny Boy Williamson. --Marc GreilsamerCustomer Reviews:
I want my blues to be blue.......2006-10-04
Muddy Waters had a great band behind him/with him - I read on Wikipedia that they were known as the Headhunters, because they would go to a club where someone else was playing, ask to sit in, then "cut the heads off" the locals with their musicianship. You hear a tight band, a group of guys that knows how to play together, on songs like "I Feel So Good" and "Bird Nest on the Ground." But the musician who really stands out is Little Walter, on the harmonica. That guy can howl, and make you feel it. He's especially hot on "Sugar Sweet."
Best ever.......2006-01-07
The most complete overview of Muddy Waters' Chess sides.......2004-04-03
It is not the final word on Muddy Waters - his excellent latter-day recordings with Johnny Winter as producer aren't here, and you'll need some of his live stuff as well - but these 72 tracks do include the vast majority of his best songs from 1947 and twenty-five years on.
Disc one spans 1947-1954, and most of the 24 tracks feature just Muddy Waters on slide guitar and bassist Ernest "Big" Crawford backing him, although the great Sunnyland Slim rolls the ivories on a few songs, like the delightful 1947 single "Gypsy Woman".
Muddy's arsenal of slide guitar riffs may seem limited, but his playing on the 1948 hit "I Can't Be Satisfied" and the mellow "Train Fare Home" is really great, demonstrating what a fine guitarist he actually was.
Percussion doesn't show up until two-thirds of the way through the disc, when the "classic" Muddy Waters band begins to take shape: Little Walter Jacobs on harmonica, Jimmy Rogers on second guitar, drummer Elgin Evans, and Otis Spann playing the piano.
Along with the songs already mentioned, the lean, mean "I Feel Like Going Home" and "Rollin' And Tumblin'" are among the highlights on disc 1, which ends with the tough, swinging "Blow Wind Blow" and the classic "Hoochie Coochie Man". Big Walter Horton plays superb harmonica on "Blow Wind Blow".
Disc 2 includes the majority of Muddy's classic 50s singles, from "I'm Ready" and the thumping "I Just Want To Make Love To You" to "Got My Mojo Working", the Bo Diddley-ripoff "Mannish Boy", and the superbly swinging "I Love The Life I Live, I Live The Life I Love". Harpist James Cotton appears for the first time on "I Love The Life I Live", blowing a truly inspired harmonica riff.
And there are several lesser-known songs here as well, including previously unreleased takes and singles which make their LP/CD debut on this album. Most of them are good, although not quite great, with the exception of a very fine rendition of Jimmy Oden's "Take The Bitter With The Sweet".
Disc 3 covers 1960-1972, and includes a few live recordings, as well as two alternates from the sublime "Fathers And Sons" sessions. Opening with the great live "I Feel So Good" from the Newport album, it is highlighted by Muddy's version of Eddie Boyd's "Twenty-Four Hours", the mid-60s hit singles "The Same Thing" and "You Can't Lose What You Ain't Never Had", and a hornless version of "Who's Gonna Be Your Sweet Man When I'm Gone", one of the few good cuts from the otherwise forgettable "London Sessions" album.
There is nothing here from the misguided and completely superflous "Electric Mud", or from Muddy's last Chess-effort, "The Woodstock Album", but that detracts little or nothing from the greatness of this compilation, the finest overview of Muddy Waters' Chess sides available.
Great place to start....................2004-01-04

IT SIMPLY CANNOT BE DONE.
Muddy Waters displays his command of the Blues in songs such as "I Can't Be Satisfied" and "Long Distance Call". Rarities like "Mean Red Spider" are pleasing to find.
Overall, the collection is a good start for someone who just wants to hear his laments and joys in one fell swoop. Die-hard fans should avoid this and stick to the released LP/CD.
