Stellar Piece of Work!!.......2004-08-24
Gregg Karukas just keeps getting better with each release. Outstanding smooth jazz! "Blue Touch" is perfect for a breezy day on the boat or at the beach. The sounds are fresh and roll along with ease, as the music seems to flow from his fingertips. Not a bad tune on the entire disk. Azure Dreaming is the ultimate stress reducer. I now own every Gregg Karukas CD, and never tire of hearing them. They hold up amazingly well. Smooth jazz at its absolute finest. I highly recommend!!!
The best smooth jazz from 1998.......2004-05-27
Gregg Karukas is one the major keyboards in smooth jazz at this time and probably Blue touch may be one of his greatest achievements.. This album has no holes.
Blue touch is a solid work, with many interesting tracks. My favorite one is Fly away. However you'll be widely reward with this buy. Every track is carefully played, with a sense of rhytm and harmony as a few.
Karukas belongs to a selected dinasty of keyboard players that never let you down , because he renews in every work he throws.
Undobtly a musician with a huge foture, because his skillness, wide sense of the form and over all he never lets you dissapointed.
He and Brian Culbertson are from now the great white hope in smooth jazz keyboard.
One of the best smooth jazz albums!.......2003-07-01
This album Blue Touch is one of the best albums from Gregg Karukas. He plays with smooth jazz stars such like Peter White, Boney James, Erick Marienthal and he's one of the best keybordists in jazz. He began as one of the original Rippingtons, and he has a successful career as solist. This CD should not be missing in a collection of good smooth jazz lovers!
Love it.......2002-09-11
This CD is the bomb-diggity! I'm telling you...every husband and wife needs a copy of this CD. Ok, I won't go there. Gregg is definitely as smooth as they come. His piano playing is top notch and so are the collaborations. This is definitely a must have for musicians.
First Rate Smooth Jazz.......2001-03-25
A tender and gentle recording by Gregg who shows us what good smooth jazz is all about. Gentle on the ear and very melodolic this is a good all round album perfect for sharing with that special someone in your life. Of course I'm somewhat biased being a dedicated Rippingtons fan and also being very fond of Peter White but they do say you can tell a lot about a person from the company they keep. A good solid all round performance - I particularly enjoy track 7 - Road Back To Love.

Album Description
John Nemeth is an outstanding new vocal talent who's creating quite a buzz with his amazing singing ability as well as his skills as a harmonica player. John's uncanny blend of retro-modern blues and soul music will delight purists and young hipsters alike. Magic Touch, produced by Anson Funderburgh and featuring guest Junior Watson on guitar, introduces a virtuoso of rare depth and power and amply demonstrates that, whether he's tackling blues, deep soul, or rock, John Nemeth does indeed have the magic touch.
Customer Reviews:
Really first rate effort by strong singer and harp-player.......2007-03-26
John Németh
One of the real pleasures I have is hearing a new voice that just blows me away being rooted deep in the blues tradition, yet singing and playing with an authority that would have been at home on a blues recording 40 years ago. Born in Idaho, John Németh has been growing a body of followers including guitarist Junior Watson and Steady Rollin' Bob Margolin and after a couple of CDs has signed with Blind Pig and has a new CD, "Magic Touch," that is a stunning release. He is simply a wonderful singer that to this listener suggests Junior Parker mixed with Bobby Radcliffe and an equally superb harp player. This CD is produced by Anson Funderburgh (who plays on 1 track) with Németh backed by a terrific band that includes great Junior Watson on guitar and Kaz Kazanoff and the Texas Horns. Németh blasts off with a strong reworking of Junior Wells' "Blues Hit Big Town" (great harp along with the vocal) before followed by the funky originals Blue Broadway and the title track, both sporting strong crying vocals and terrific playing from Watson (who gets into a rock and roll vein on the title track). Willie Dixon's "Sit and Cry the Blues", was one of Buddy Guy's earliest recordings and the version here with Watson's evocation of Ike Turner's trebly playing on Guy's original as Németh's convincingly the lyrics in his natural soulful style. "She Did Not Show" sports some harp in a Rice Miller vein on a blues set to the "Sittin' on Top of the World/ Some Cold Rainy Day" melody, while Up to "No Good" evokes Sam Cooke's "Bring It On Home," with more exquisite harp playing. "Come On," a polka-blues (yes you read that correctly) closes this album on a fresh, delightful note. Blind Pig in their publicity for this suggests that "Magic Touch" "is destined to be one of the most remarked upon releases of 2007." Well it is January as I write this, but they are likely right, as this is simply terrific.
If I could I would give this an additional half/star but the fact this does not get five stars does not reflect any shortcoming on this disc, but rather my being conservative in my rating.

Album Description
As an arranger, composer, pianist, and producer, Duke Pearson was Blue Note's secret weapon for more than a decade. This 1967 all-star octet session features 6 great Pearson tunes and arrangements. Freddie Hubbard, James Spaulding, and Stanley Turrentine are the primary soloists. This music pops with vitality. An alternate take of "Los Malo Hombres" has been added to the original LP.
Customer Reviews:
No doubt about it! .......2007-02-23
It's a honor to be the first one to review this excellent recording. I just purchased this re-release by Mr. RVG and all I gotta say is thanks a million, because this one is superb beyond belief. From the moment I became a jazz fan I also became almost immediately a big fan of Duke Pearson. Yet, I had only one album of his as a leader 'Sweet Honey Bee' (which by the way I give a 4.5!)and I still had some doubts about just how good this one could possibly be. Apparently, according to many jazz experts I've read, RVG has already remastered all the classics and most of these newest re-releases are sub-great. Well, I can tell you that statement is a terrible generalization on top of just plain arrogance. I love this recording and it already is becoming one of my personal favorites. Duke is an amazing composer as well as being one of the greatest jazz pianists of all-time . And that line-up of his with Freddie Hubbard (trumpet), Stanley Turrentine (tenor sax), James Spaulding (alto sax) ... do I need to go on or are you kind of getting the picture. Stanley T. and Freddie were at the top of their game in 67! It's just an A+ performance by the whole octet.
By the way, their bossa nova love ballad "My Love Awaits (O' Meu Amor Espero)" has to be one of the most beautiful pieces of music my ears have ever had the pleasure of listening to. I play it over and over again, each time seeming to love it more than the last. As Nat Hentoff wrote in his original liner notes "...it's as close to a flawless performance as one can find..."
If you are a fan of any of these cats, then definitely purchase this album. I can't recommend this enough! These guys give great performances with not one of them stealing or hogging the spotlight from the others. That's one thing I really love about Duke P. is that he loves to share the love - he gives each member of the band their equal time to shine with their solos. And do they ever shine and deliver the goods!!!

Still great after all these years........2005-12-05
I used to see SJ on the Tonight Show way back in the mid-80s and I have the original LP from 1985. He absolutely blew me away back then and now I'm pleased to see that it's available on CD - which I'm giving my 25yo son for Christmas. Music created by legends like SJ will last forever. Check out his website at [...] for an interesting bio. Did you know he graduated from Princeton?
THE TRU PIONEER OF MUSIC 2DAY.......2005-01-11
Stanley Jordan's Vibe Guitar playing is such powerful and more unique. Love how he did his thing on the Michael Jackson piece THE LADY OF MY LIFE which is one of my favorite. I first bought this last year and it didn't disappoint me at all. I thought it was kinda wack and a lil soggy in between but now it's good tho even tho it's recommendarily a jazz classic to date. He 'specially does good on other songs I like are Round Midnight and Freddie Freeloader to name a few I believe. He's such a great spirit and a wonderful. Hope he'll put out more in the future.
Best!.......2004-12-16
This album is a timeless piece of music. I somewhat agree with the reviewers in regards to the marketing efforts of Stanley, etc... He had not been given an appropriate exposure by publicity...It's a shame, since this guitarist is definately one of the best (if not the best) of all time.
I know a lot of people say he plays "too clean" almoast with no human touch. It somewhat is true, since the guitar he plays is different from all other guitars out there, giving a specific "synthezised" sound, or very clean sound.
However, the phrases of his playing are simply incredible! And how about playing 2 guitarists at once! Just think about what he achieved for this instrument...
Simply, buy his album - you will see it by yourself.

Best ever!.......2004-07-23
Stanley Jordan is the best ever guitar player of our time. He doesn't get the recognition he so richly deserves! He is truly a genius. To have a Stanley Jordan CD in your possession is to truly have a precious gem. Well worth the money to listen to him. He will take you to a dreamland and beyond.
Best Guitarist That Ever Lived With Failed Recognition!.......2004-06-14
Every couple of nights I listen to his music that is spiritual. The influence of Stanley Jordan will be remembered for hundred of years to come. He will be remember as one of the best jazz players of all time. The problem is most Jazz folks have to die while this cat is alive and he could make a million people stand up with a tear in their eyes now. He is humble. He is kind. Yes, there maybe a few guitarists that try to get the most of the guitar, but put them against Mr. Jordan and find out what will happen. Mr. Jordan will wipe out any guitarist. The problem is he is starting to hide in obscurity and if you love his work, find out ways to bring him into popularity again. Write the newspapers to run an article, write music or guitar magazines, write, e-mails, faxes....let us show the world that if there is one better guitarist out there in the world that they need to prove it. Buy his stuff...but promote him. I swear in 35 years, there has never been a more graceful, peaceful, hardworking guitarist in the world. He came to the cross-road...walked right past it and said I am already too great for all this nonesense....now it is up to us to prove him right. TAKE ACTION

Here's a disc of 19 familiar and unfamiliar Kurt Weill songs arranged for dance band and played by an expert group of specialists in Roaring Twenties band music. They're led by singer-conductor-composer H.K. Gruber, whose previous recordings include Weill's Die Dreigroschenoper. The result is a start-to-finish delight. From the first notes, you're beamed back in time to one of those sleek transatlantic passenger liners, sitting in an art deco ballroom watching elegant couples in tuxedos and ball-gowns swirl by while the band plays hits from Weill's German and Broadway triumphs. Sure, the venom is leached from the originals, but who needs agitprop when you're on a dance floor? The arrangements are by a variety of hands, hired by Weill's European and American publishers with his approval to get more mileage from his musical theater works. They're delightfully square rhythmically and formulaic in transferring Weill's music to conventional dance bands, but the music still holds up and is fun to hear in its new clothes. A special treat is the eight tracks with Max Raabe, whose light tenor and falsetto singing preserve the spirit of Weill's songs, as well as perfectly mimic the boy band singers of times gone by. --Dan Davis
Customer Reviews:
SAIL ON, KURT!.......2006-04-23
I wouldn't take offence here oh, Weill purists! These reconstructions are charming and harmonically reverent to their originals, more than could be said for many versions of the Weill Songbook through the decades, including Lou Reed's friendly `adaptation' of the September Song's chord progression and melodic line!
Shoenberg and Webern expressed their disdain of Weill's music; curiously, Arnold had also disclosed a secret wish of having his own audiences walk back home "whistling his tunes", oh, don't ask why... You can certainly whistle, hum and sway your partner now, as the transatlantic's bouncy dancehall sails on just as Kurt, Lotte and the lot of them did when escaping the lethal hounds of early 30s Berlin.... the-next-little-dollar bound.
Not at All Vile Weill.......2001-08-13
The ever versatile HK Gruber has done it again digging up these gorgeous dance arrangements for Weill's music--proving, if anything, Weill's versatility. Anyone familiar with the Capriccio historical Weill recordings will be aware of the long tradition of dance bands taking Weill's music as the lead for dance music or pop music incarnations (all the way up through the more obvious appropriations familiar to Americans: Mack the Knife and September Song). Hardly MUZAK arrangements (listen to the delicate violin in track 17's "What Good Would the Moon Be" to hear what I mean), this generous helping of 19 songs offers a chance to see Weill through a delightfully different but entirely compatible lens. Max Raabe provides the ideal vocal compliment on 8 of the tracks, his tenor floating effortlessly into his head voice suggesting a "period" sound reminiscent of Bing Crosby. The import title for this disc is "Charming Weill," and that modest adjective expresses the least of its virtues.
ELEVATOR MUSIC.......2001-05-23
This is a very strange CD: why would anyone want to take the quirky rhythms and melodies of the great Kurt Weill and "tame" them into dance arrangements? Certainly one has listened to (& even perhaps admired) dance arrangements of composers from Victor Herbert to Cole Porter to Jerry Herman, but these are all, if you will, main stream composers-- men whose music sounds good in original Broadway or Hollywood arrangements and just as good (or almost as good) as played by a dance band...think "Begin The Beguine" as done by Fred Astaire on film or "Begin The Beguine" done by Jo Stafford with the Paul Weston Orchestra.
But Weill was an innovator: a man who can still be listened to experiencing the thrill of something fresh and new. One immediately thinks of his collaborations with Bertolt Brecht in Germany: "Threepenny Opera" and "The Rise & Fall Of The City of Mahagonny" or "The Seven Deadly Sins", etc. his American opera, "Street Scene" with Langston Hughes or his American musical plays: "One Touch of Venus" with Ogden Nash or "Love Life" with Alan Jay Lerner, etc. The songs on this CD all deserve great recordings from the "Alabama Song" to "September Song" but they turn into a kind of flattened elevator music instead of having fresh interpretations or even more traditional ones. What happens is that the longing in "What Good Would the Moon Be" and the romance of "Speak Low" and the raucousness of "Bilbao Song" are all much too similar and much too easy.
It's a little weird to think of husbands whispering to their wives," Listen, honey, they're playing 'As You Make Your Bed' from "Mahagonny".........let's fox trot!"

David Cassidy's voice is better than ever!.......2007-02-04
This is one of my favorite CDs! David Cassidy's voice is better than ever. The song selections on this CD are relaxing and very bluesy! I listen to this CD after a hard day or whenever I need to unwind. Can't go wrong with this one!
David's voice is amazing.......2007-01-10
The Touch of Blue CD is wonderful. David has such an amazing voice and this CD has a wide range of different songs that David normally doesn't sing or perform at his shows. My mother even enjoyed listening to it and was singing to some of the older songs she reconginezed. I was not at all disappointed that it had a jazzy beat to it.
David Cassidy's Vocals are Like A Fine Wine.......2005-03-16
This tasty import is just a repackaging of the Universal U.S. version with a bonus disk of songs taken from David's "Then & Now" pevious release. The bonus disks contain the remakes of "Could It Be Forever", "Cherish","How Can I Be Sure", Daydreamer", "Some Kind Of Summer","I Write The Songs","If I Didn't Care","Looking Throuh The Eyes Of Love", "It's One Of Those Nights (Yes Love)", and "I Think I Love You". If you have "Then And Now" just buy the US version. Now, having said that, this is another great David Cassidy CD inspired one would think by his stage performances in "EFX" and "At The Copa". It has a very mature, bluesy aspect to it that is like a fine, mellow wine. David's vocals are still beautiful after all these years and he still sounds good in his mid-fifties as he did in the late seventies! Awesome remakes abound here and David embraces them and makes them his own. A smokey vocal version of the popular 60s song "Spooky" starts the disk off then segues into a bluesy "New York City Life". Silky smooth vocals follow on Paul McCartney's "Blackbird" and the beautiful "Since I Fell For You" The fifth cut is the wildly popular 60s remake of "Walk Away Renee" smoothly executed and brings the tempo up a beat. Next is the slower version of his Partridge hit "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" which he has done often in concert as well as the following "Hollywood Nights" yes, the Bob Seger song which takes the pace up even more. I love the way he does this here as much as he does it in concert. He sings the song with soul and a breathy sexuality. A wonderful rendition. "A Song For you" brings him back into the dark stage witha single spotlight. These are the ballad tunes David does so well. He still has it. The mood quickly changes to a mellower slower version of "Mother and Child Reunion". Great version. The background vocalists are clear and the ooh-oohs are reminiscent of the Partridge years. Rounding out the set is a mellow version of Extremes megahit love song "Mor Than Words". Nice harmonies that are reminiscent of his later RCA years. A great blues CD that proves that David just keeps maturing and getting better! Worth a spin!! But get the US version and save the high import costs if you already have "Then & Now" and forego the wasted extra disk of repeated material.
bluer than blue.......2004-04-26
this is a great album done by Mr. Cassidy . there are songs on this one that make me want to close my eyes to imagine him singing these songs. Cherish is so good it makes me want to cry.... Mr. Cassidy definitely took his time with this one. which is a great thing for his fans like me.
Great album sounds like the old big band music.......2004-03-30
This is definitly a good album i love the first disc with all the new tracks. like that person said it would be nice if david would not keep re realesing partridge family tunes. they are ok but his solo stuff is way better. Very good cover tunes on this one plus new york city life is great. thanks

Album Description
Faith Assembly has become known as the modern "new romantic" band, playing a lush style that many people associate with the some of the memoral artists from the 80's like Japan (David Sylvian), The Smiths, Simple Minds, Tears for Fears, or Depeche Mode. The moods and sounds of the album are especially memorable in modern classics like "Redemption" and "Denial".

Shades of Blue.......2007-04-14
Faith Assembly's first album and I was totally impressed by this c.d.I love the music and the songs on this disc. There is no bad songs on this and you can't go wrong with it.I can't really compare them with any other band and believe me: i have alot of music in my collection. This album has a nice blend of guitar, programming, and well crafted melodies in the songs. If you like songs with a meaning then you can't go wrong with Faith Assembly and checkout Windmills another Excellent!c.d.Definately 5 stars.
Beautifal.......2005-04-22
Faith Assembly's "Shades of Blue" has to be their best CD to date. Using an extremely beautifal blend of male and female vocals, soft synths, samples from old films and big echoey 80s style drum sounds, "Shades of Blue" takes you right back 20 years ago. The lyrics deep and meaningful, this is an under-rated gem in the synthpop genre. Alot of Synthpop you can tell has just been churned out in a few weeks, but with this CD you can tell so much effort has been put into it. Buss' vocals are simply amazing as well, which blend perfectly with the enchanting tones of the female vocals.
Although all the tracks on the album are A* quality stuff, there are a few that stand out to me. In order of most favorite track first, they are "Denial", "Captive", "Pool of Tears" and "Darkness".
This CD is definatly worth getting your hands on if you like emotional synthpop at it's finest... and as an added bonus, there's a music video for "Denial" found on the CD.
Absolutely Brilliant!!!!.......2004-11-08
WOW!!! What an album!! There IS NOT one bad song on this album. As far as I'm concerned it is a masterpiece in synthpop. I HIGHLY recommend this album.
My favorite synthpop group !!!.......2002-07-06
If you haven't picked up this album, you don't know what you're missing !! It's not just your ordinary synthpop solution; it's a high class synthpop with rich synthesizers, layered instruments, and well-blended vocals (male & female vocals combination -- which is kinda rare in synthpop genre nowadays). Plenty of great songs, as a matter of fact ALL tracks are GEMS. Don't wait no more, pick up this album; and other 'Faith Assembly' albums too. It's my favorite synthpop group at the moment !!
One of the best Pop music CD's I ever heard!.......1999-12-12
If you like 80's and 90's electronic/pop music, this one is for you. 'Redemption' is the best, it's a 10 stars song! Hear the Pop-Remix near the end of the CD, IT'S SIMPLY AWESOME!. Compared to other pop bands like Depeche Mode, Alphaville, Pet Shop Boys, this ones have their own sofisticated style: a mixture of mystery, elegancy, hapiness and excelent rytms. GET IT!

Album Description
This top-notch British synthpop act has been a part of the synthpop underground since the mid 90's, contributing melodic, romantic, catchy, unforgettable songs. This single throws out an enticing taste of the album "One Day Silver, One Day Gold". The original version of "Free" starts off with the Erasure-esque use of acoustic guitar, then brings in those dreamy vocals and synths for an uplifting pop song. The "Liberation Mix" then kicks the song into high gear for a trance-infused club mix, while the "Wideband Network" mix brings a clubby dance groove into the track. There's also a danceable remix of another album track "Supanova" as mixed by Love|less, and an exclusive bleepy b-side track "Fireclad (Phosphorus Party Mix)".
