Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Playing it over and over again..........2006-05-22

I love the approachability of this band (my family just saw them perform, and the kids had such a blast!), and this particular album is really great.

Sometimes they remind me a little of They Might Be Giants. Most of their songs are not quite so ridiculous, but there is an element of humor in many of the tracks.

I was a little concerned about all the parental advisory warnings on the cd, but really bad stuff is too obscure for the kids to get anyway. There are definitely some instances of foul language, but the music is not hateful, and not overly sexual, either. The bad language is mostly used as expressions of frustrations with life, and as a parent, I don't really have a problem with it in that context.

I don't normally review music, but I wanted to give a vote on this one, because we have really enjoyed it - the CD has been playing almost non-stop in our house since we bought it, and we all really like it.

2 out of 5 stars Not nearly as good as the other albums.......2005-11-19

So to begin, I have to say that Wheatus is a band Ive always thought was underrated and they have consistently been in my music rotation for CD, mp3 player, computer whatever. I liked them enough even to order from England "Hand Over Your Loved Ones" Yet, I am not some dyed-in-the-wool fan or a hater, just a music lover.

Now for the review: this album leaves much to be desired. Frankly, I am disappointed. It is not nearly as good as the other two. While the first release was overall the best album, IMHO, I listen to the second album more as my favorite two songs from wheatus (lemonade and anyway) are on that album to counteract the 4-5 second-rate songs that were included. Unfortunately, the current release doesn't have enough great tunes to coverup the overall lack of quality songs on the album.

At first listen, the first song (something good) is, well, something good. It takes a different directtion from previous Wheatus fare, being heavier and rockin out more, but it works and is the best song on the album and probably in the top ten wheatus songs overall. Unfortunately, it is down hill from there. The second song (in the melody) is good and still rocks out. The next two are ok with London Sun being the better of the two. Listenable, but nothing to write home about. After these songs, Wheatus starts taking a different direction with disastrous results. Not a one is memorable and I found myself skipping the tracks to relisten to the first two songs.

If you like "classic" wheatus, this is probably not for you. Frankly, I will probably trade this album in for something else

5 out of 5 stars Wheatus Kicks Ass! .......2005-11-11

I'm giving this 5 stars because I am a Wheatus fan & I am what I is, so there you have it. I think it would be impossible for Wheatus to top "Hand Over Your Loved Ones" Their sophomore effort. If you like this album run as fast as you can somewhere, to wherever they have it & buy it immediatly! I guarantee you will not take it out of your stereo for months! It's a great album & just for the record I'm not some little punk that doesn't know anything about music. I'm 28 & I have my degree in Commercial Music & Jazz Studies & I've been playing guitar since I was 13. I went thru the same program Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge went through & even had private lessons from him. So, I'm qualified! On an individual instrument talent level, I can't give Wheatus that much, but on a level of putting out fun, great, don't give a crap, funny & catchy party tunes, I give these guy's all the credit in the world & I'd love to see them live, but they NEVER COME TO THE NORTHWEST!! damn it. But, anyway.. I'd tell you to purchase "Hand Over Your Loved Ones" before you purchase this & if you love it, then buy their first album "Wheatus" & love both of them! & then after you love both of them, buy this one & you'll love all 3! Cheers. Oh, I forgot.. actually! Don't buy "Hand Over Your Loved Ones" Buy "Suck Fony" it's the same exact album but it has 2 additional tunes on it. They re-released it after parting ways with Sony. Hense the title.. Love it!

5 out of 5 stars Another great offering!.......2005-11-01

Don't let the lo-fi production quality steer you away from this great album. At first I was a bit cynical, having only known the "slick produced" Wheatus, but these songs are too good to let that hold back some perfect pop songs. If anything, the production adds to the realness of the songs offered. Another great album from the most underrated band of the new millennium.
