Probably the most important "unknown" band in the history of punk rock, this unfailingly offensive, undeniably brilliant gaggle of rock critics and hooligans went out of its way to offend 99% of society while inspiring the remaining 1% to paroxysms of joy. This early-'80s collection ranks with the band's finest, highlighted by sonic joyrides like "They Saved Hitler's Cock" and "My Old Man's a Fatso." The Samoan influence extends through to 1997, with their songs popping up regularly in sets by bands such as the Foo Fighters (who often open with "Gas Chamber," included here) and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones (known to pop off a cover of Back From Samoa's "Lights Out"). File under: how to win friends and alienate people. --David Sprague

5 out of 5 stars Whew........2006-03-21

I'm a sensitive middle-aged guy, with gay friends and a positive
loving attitude. This album still rocks. If Wagner gets great
reviews then Metal Mike should have a statue somewhere - we will
all know the Apocalypse is at hand when the R&R Hall of Fame votes
these guys in. BTW a one-eyed woman I knew loved "Lights Out,"
proving that cool people come in all varieties.

4 out of 5 stars Politically incorrect punk classic.......2005-08-08

Sure, these guys sound mighty tame compared to G.G. Allin or The Dwarves, but they're still very offensive to anyone only familiar with lame pop-punk (Green Day, Blink 182). Despite how offensive the subject matter can be, its so over the top you can't help but find it hilarious. Regardless of how serious they are (and they sound pretty convicted on tracks like "Homosexual"), its still a laugh out loud punk rock classic. And like all great punk rock, the riff ares simplistic yet catchy as hell. I dare you not to dance or hum along to "Haizman's Brain Is Calling" or "Not of This Earth". Its cheaper and more conveniant to pick up "The Unboxed Set", even though only 50% of the material on that compilation is great. The first two albums by the Samoans are classic, the second two are, well, safe and boring (I don't even considor "The '90s Suck & So Do You" to be a Samoans album, even though its fun and catchy). This is by far the best album from the Samoans. I mean how can you beat the lyrics to "They Saved Hitler's C^ck"?

5 out of 5 stars Great, great band.......2004-06-06

The Angry Samoans have to be one of the most offensive, hilarious, and underrated bands of all time. I just saw them last night for the third time to a crowd of about 40 people, before that they played to about 200 people but they put on the same exact show and I have more fun seeing them than I do any other band. They are true punk rock originals and it's to bad that not many people know about them. God bless the Angry Samoans.

5 out of 5 stars Time has come today.......2004-05-18

This is probably one of the greatest punk albums ever made. It's definately up there with The Ramones debut, Never Mind The Bollocks, and Damaged. My favorite songs have to be Gas Chamber, Tuna Taco, Steak Knife, and Time Has Come Today (Ramones do a pretty good version of this song too). Forget all about Simple Plan and New Found Glory, you can't go wrong with the Angry Samoans.

5 out of 5 stars the todd killings..........2003-08-29

this has got to be a top 10 punk album. it has it all; offensive, fast, humorous and short (15 minute cd) a must for any fan of early 80's so. cal punk...
