I got this CD as a gift for my brother. He had heard the group before and really liked them. I recommend Amazon to find the older albums from this group.

A incredible CD. Its really refreshing to hear a new band actually produce something worthwhile to buy. "Leave a Whisper" demonstrates Shinedown's ability to mix up song styles and not deviate from a good niche. The bonus tracks are worth while to listen to as well.

My only complaint about this CD is that the "Enhanced CD" style often skips on my stereo in my Room. I'd wish they would have just delivered a straightforward, Audio only cd. This can be easily fixed though by just ripping the songs to your computer and then making a audio cd of just the songs.

That said, I highly recommend this CD and this band. Theres very few "filler" songs on here, and if you are half as happy as I am with this CD, then you'll be glad you forked over the 15 bucks or so for this album!

Brilliant album.......2007-05-12

This is how music is ment to be. From the day I first heard about Shinedown I became a big fan of them. Nobody knows them in Holland, so it took me a little while to get to know them.
This album has many goods songs. Fly from the inside, Burning Bright, In memory and 45 are my favorites.

The 4 man group from Jacksonville, FL, Shinedown, came correct with this album, this is about my 720th review and over 600 of them are rap album reviews but I do like some alternative music and this is one of the better albums I have heard. I'd have like to get the re-release of this with the remake of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man" but oh well. Back tho the album, with 12 songs it's not the longest but it delivers. It has a classic, 3 ok songs, and the other 8 are good or real good songs, no weak spots on the whole album. For fans of alternative music I'd say this is a must have.

I ACTUALLY GOT INTRODUCED TO SHINEDOWN FROM A GUY,TANNER, THAT MY GRANDPA HIRED AND I SORTA LIVED W/ WHILE WE WERE VISITING MY GRANDPA.WHEN TANNER WOULD PLAY BASKETBALL W/ ME HE WOULD TURN UP HIS TRUCK AND CRANK THESE GUYS.WHEN I FIRST HEARD "SIMPLE MAN" I GOT A NEW FAVORITE SONG.THESE GUYS HAVE GREAT BEATS, SONGS, VOICES...I MEAN THEY DONT SCREAM, U DONT HAVE TO STRAIN TO HEAR WHAT THEIR SAYING AND THATS ALWAYS A PLUS.IF U PARENTS HAVE A KID WHOSE INTO ROCK HAVE THEM LISTEN TO THESE SAMPLES ITS A GREAT GIFT.AND FOR U COACHES AND ATHLETES OUT THERE THESES R GREAT SONGS TO WARM UP TO BEFORE A GAME.THEY JUST GET U PUMPED.THEY R FAST AND FUN TO WARM UP TO BEFORE A VOLLEYBALL OR BASKETBALL GAME(OR WHATEVER)I REALLY HOPE U GUYS BUY THIS C-D, I LOVED IT AND EVERYONE THAT I HAD LISTEN TO IT WANTS IT.BUY IT ULL LOVE IT!!!!

generally i am a fan of heavier stuff, but this was a nice change from my usual listening (metallica, megadeth, pantera). it's got great lyrics and some pretty awesome riffs. easily one of the best album i got in the year it came out (decided to review it now). the lead singer is great, singing and songwriting. the guitar work is great also. these guys have some good things ahead of them.

How to form a modern post-grunge band like Shinedown (or Tantric, or Breaking Benjamin, or 3 Doors Down, or Nickelback, etc):

1. Find a greasy, long brown haired vocalist, basically one who looks like Eddie Vedder, but make sure he can attempt to sing like him too.
2. Get a guitarist who can play power chords. If you want two guitarists, that's fine, but just make sure they play the exact same thing the entire time.
3. Get a bassist. But make sure you don't turn his amp up too loud; you're not supposed to hear him!
4. Get a drummer a K-Mart drum skit, maybe a tom, two toms at most, and make sure he can play only the most standard rock beats.

Cracka out!

Shinedown could be one of the best.......2005-06-03

In my opinion, Shinedown could become one of the best hard rock bands around today. If you are a fan of this type of music at all, then its almost a certainty that you will really like "Leave a Whisper". I purchased this CD having only heard their excellent accoustic remake of Lynard Skynard's "Simple Man" (I later realized that I had also heard "Fly from the Inside" as well but didn't know who the band was). On 1st listen I was surprised at how many songs on this CD are really good, and for at least 2 weeks after buying it I couldn't get them out of my head. To me the real highlight of the album are the vocals of Brent Smith, but the songwriting as a whole is very good. As many people have said, the best song is probably "Crying Out" -- if you like this album, you will listen to this song over and over. However, there are a lot of other strong songs; my other favorites are "Fly from the Inside", "Left Out", "Burning Bright", "In Memories", and "45". If you get this CD be sure to get the bonus version with the "Simple Man" track.
