5 out of 5 stars Everybody should own this CD........2007-05-13

This show quickly became my second favorite musical of all time. (Phantom of the Opera is number one.) I listened to this CD three times and was then able to sing along with all of the songs. This show is all about dating and mating which makes it appropriate for all young and older adults. I highly recommend this CD to everybody!

5 out of 5 stars Great show & GREAT CD.......2007-03-27

I enjoyed the show so much I went to see it twice, I was delighted to find there was a CD. This is a great quakity item.

5 out of 5 stars I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.......2007-03-23

My wife and I had just gotten back from New York and we had seen the off-broadway play "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" and thoroughly enjoyed it. This CD is great and whenever we hear it we think of that great night at the play and we laugh as if we were at the play itself.

4 out of 5 stars Change the disc please.......2007-01-04

ILYYPNC is neither a great musical revue nor a bad revue. It is simply a very good attempt at trying to make a bad situation look good (or a good situation look bad). It isn't a CD that I will listen too very often (such as PERSONALS - London Cast or RENT) but it also isn't one that will end up in a future yard sale of long forgotten CDs either. It is a bit above a mediocre musical, a bit contrived and somewhat predictable in its presentation, but you still should give it a shot to form your own opinion. As for me, perhaps I will attempt my own production with my theatre troupe in the future as it does have some good material along with some of its shortcomings. Purchasing this CD has at least cemented this on my list of "plays to look into further".

3 out of 5 stars Funny, but Forgettable........2006-11-20

I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERCECT, NOW CHANGE is a musical revue about love, dating, and marriage. The musical is composed of short scenes that begin with the creation of Adam & Eve, then fastforwards through history to the present day where a set of people are preparing to go on a date. The trials of dating and the single scene are explored, as well as what people loose when they get married. The second half of the show deals with married relationships as well as love among the elderly.

I know that there are many people who really like this show. It is a smaller show which is a nice switch from huge-casts and big production number musicals. There really isn't a storyline either, which makes for a different and somewhat interesting experience. However, I really don't like the show. There are some things I can relate to and there are some snippets that I find funny. Overall, though I found the show to basically be a bunch of stereotypical mishmashed scenes without any purpose. I like stories with a plot. I like stories with a purpose. If something has a plot and no purpose, I can deal with it. If it has a purpose, but little plot, I can deal with it. Take away the plot and the purpose and then I have trouble dealing with it.

There are some who would refer to the show as being wholesome. That's not true. The show is somewhat harmless, but it is not wholesome. It's not a show you can take a family to see. Much of the material is in the PG-13 range, though some definitely flies in R-rated territory. There's some minor foul language and lots and lots of sexual innuendo. The scenes are built upon a secular post-modern American worldview and if you don't share this worldview, some of the material is offensive.

The only song on the soundtrack that I thoroughly enjoyed is the song "Shouldn't I Be Less In Love With You?" The song is sung by a married man singing to his wife about his wonderment at how much he still loves her after all the years they've been married and all the things they've gone through. It's a wonderful, touching song. It's the only song that is memorable.

There are a few other tunes that are enjoyable, though not as memorable. These include:

"Why? `Cause I'm a Guy"

"On the Highway of Love"

I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE is an original musical revue. The lyrics are mostly funny and the cast members have great voices. However, the lack of plot and purpose make most of the material here forgettable.

4 out of 5 stars Great compilation.......2002-05-10

I don't actually own this particular compilation, however, since I own nearly every recording represented on these discs...I think I'm qualified to comment. This is a wonderful representation of the high quality of work that DRG Records does.
The previous review is way off the mark. This is definitely not a waste of time or money. This is 25 years of preserving Broadway shows, Off-Broadway shows, studio recordings (mostly from the city center concerts), etc. So what if they "aren't as good as the original", DRG is preserving many recordings and artists that other mainstream labels don't or won't. You have wonderful recordings from Brian Stokes Mitchell, Nathan Lane, Debbie Gravitte, Tyne Daly, Anthony Perkins, Joanna Gleason, Marin Mazzie, Carol Burnett, Heather Headley, Patti LuPone, Barbara Cook, etc., and many of these are from Original Cast Recordings just as they appeared on Broadway. This is an excellent sampler of the work going on at DRG. No...I'm not an employee...just an avid listener and collector of theatre recordings.

1 out of 5 stars A disappointment.......2001-12-15

There's a reason you've probably never heard of most of the songs and shows on this album, not to mention most of the artists. This is a second-rate collection of second-rate numbers performed by mostly second-rate artists. In the case of the shows that were revivals, the performances on the original cast recordings were better. Don't waste your money.

4 out of 5 stars Worth every penny.......2006-05-13

If you ever wondered what it would sound like if Semisonic, U2, Delirious?, Better than Ezra and Third Eye Blind formed one band, it would sound something like this. Dakona's not a perfect band. Perfect Change is not a perfect cd. In fact, this disc is far from original (but original is often overrated). Perfect Change is, however, a well-written, well-produced and more importantly, filler-free effort.

There are 13 tracks on this disc that are worth listening to over and over again. Some may take a few spins to appreciate, but my experience with most cds has been this: those songs that take a few spins to appreciate are usually the ones I end up liking the most. No better example of this than the 11th track, "Revolving." At first I wasn't crazy about this song at all, but a few spins later and WOW! Now, I would go as far to say that this cd is worth buying for Revolving alone.

While the entire disc is solid, I recommend Revolving, Trust, Beautiful Thing, Trampoline, Revelation, Richest Man, Untouchable.

5 out of 5 stars Read only this one!.......2005-07-16

This cd has depth! Most cd's take time to "grow on you" but I gurantee that if you like rock with strong melodies and are filled with deep emotion, you will fall in love with this album after one listening. I had never heard of them and they quickly became my favorite. I think I've been ruined since, cause every rock band I've listened to after just doesn't compare. I may be too loyal...

4 out of 5 stars Really good rock album.......2005-02-09

For some reason I never actually bothered to listen to these guys, althoug I was told they would match my taste in music. But one day I bought the album, just for fun. And I must say I was pleasantly suprised by its quality and it has spent some time in my CD-player the last couple of weeks.
Perfect change contains 13 really good rock songs, and quite a few of them are very powerful. Just listen to opening track "Waiting" or "Soul for sale". Ryan Mcallister has a strong voice which he dosn't misuse, like i.e.that guy in Creed. Dakona also avoids making their music to pompous, their sinserity shines through. This is definitely one of the best debut albums I have heard!
So who should buy Perfect change? Well, if you like Radford's lates effort, that you ought to give this record a try. Or if you like Our lady peace's Gravity. In other words, this i a good rock album, nothing more, nothing less!

5 out of 5 stars From my home town..........2005-02-07

The drummer is from my home town and is a friend of my uncle. The rest of the band used to frequent my chruch too. I've loved these guys since there 'labelless' years. They sing honestly about what they believe in and make it a pleasure with Ryans' sincerity. Hopefully they can step out of the travesty that are lesser bands' shadows. I know I will always be a fan as long as they make music.

5 out of 5 stars Over a year and still spinning.......2004-05-26

I first saw Dakona in the Spring of 2003 as they were opening for Tonic. Their show totally caught me off guard and hooked me... right from the very first song ("Untouchable"). Perfect Change is the first CD that I can honestly say has been in my CD changer now for almost a full year and I have no intention of it leaving. I have never been able to say this about another CD in my collection.
This band is the total package..music, lyrics and incredible talent from each and every member. Their live show is incredible and after seeing them several times I can say I am looking forward to the next live show. I am also looking forward to their next CD. My personal favs include the title track, "Trampoline","Center of The World" and "In God's Name".
