First one is great, second is sub-par.......2007-06-09
Anytime,Anyplace,Anywhere is a five star album,This Is The Way is a 3 star album.
Dale Krants' vocals are excellent, and this recording project should NEVER be compared to Skynyrd. Anytime,Anyplace,Anywhere was recorded in El Paso,Texas while the Skynyrd band members were still healing from the fateful Freebird plane crash. I take issue with the review that states Dale's vocals all sound the same. NOPE! Excellent lyrics, spot on songwriting,Southern rock guitars, and Billy Powell's famous piano make for a great bunch of tunes, and is well worth the price of the dual CD.
BUY IT!
rossington collins band.......2007-01-19
southren rock all the way. great cd and couldn't beat the price.
It's not Skynyrd but it is a nice effort.......2006-03-21
I'm not giving these guys any points for what they went through after the plane crash but the two albums in the package have high quality songs and performances.
Rossington Collins gave the world some good songs. I never owned either of these albums on vinyl so I'm glad I was able to take advantage of this double cd. Amazon had it for a good price when I ordered it a couple of years ago.
There's some very nice slide guitar work on all of the songs and the vocals are all great. No, it's not the same but it's certainly worth having in your collection.
Note: this cd is in need of remastering but I've found if you have and ipod and adjust the mix through itunes it isn't too bad. In fact the sound is pretty good.
This is not your fathers Lynyrd Skynyrd.......2005-03-27
I purchased this CD because I am a big Skynyrd fan. Thinking that a big part of LZ (Collins and Rossington) were here I took the chance (having not neard their stuff). Well, it ain't Skynyrd; more like CCR. Those unique, imaginative and powerful guitar licks we got used to with LZ just aren't there. And of course we don't have that southern soul voice of Ronnie's. Dale Krantz is not bad but just doesn't have the feel, sings every song the same way. Not a bad CD, just not Skynyrd; I guess that died in the plane crash too.
As Good/Better than Skynyrd?!.......2004-08-24
Yes, that's what I said. It's as good, maybe better. Dale Krantz (Rossington), has the pipes that were taking the rock world by storm, the next "Janis Joplin", many reporters exlaimed! Well, Allen's wife died during childbirth, and thus ended this band in yet another tragedy... But, don't miss these two great albums! They show Rossington and Collins at their finest! Workin hard! And, Dale Krantz has all the gritz required to be "front Woman". It's just a shame, that the new Skynyrd doesn't cover any of these tunes in concert, and just has Dale, as a backup singer....
These are classic, must haves for any southern rocker!

Three at best..........2007-03-04
Although Brian McKnight is one of my favorite artists, this album may have three tracks that I enjoyed at best. "Anytime" is a classic McKnight track with good rhythm and typical Brian-like lyrics. It's a nice slow jam that I can listen to for quite some time to come. Another slow jam that seems like a timeless piece to me is "Show Me The Way Back To Your Heart". Not only does the song have good lyrics and theme, the melody behind the tune is definitely one that I can enjoy. Even if the song was an intrumental, I can picture myself listening to it for a while. "The Only One For Me" is another nice ballad, in typical McKnight style of breezy, smooth sounds. As I've mentioned in other Brian McKnight ratings, he really should stick with ballads and leave the up-tempo stuff to the younger artists. Overall, I can't see myself recommending anyone strongly to obtain this album, but for a cheaper price, it could be a decent addition.
Another Winner from Mr. McKnight.......2006-12-17
On his thrid CD Mcknight decided to pursue a new, hip-hop-influenced direction. You Should Be Mine was the first single pulled from Anytime, and produced by Puff Daddy and featured a rap by Mase. The song was pretty hot and enjoyed heavy roation on BET. As always though, Mcknight showed that is his best work was in the ballad department. Anytime featured the self titled ballad and the R&B hit The Only One For Me. Although McKnight wouldn't achieve crossover sucess until his next CD, this is still a fine album.
The Best Brain Has to Offer.......2005-08-15
This is by far one of Brian's best albums ever.
All The Time.......2005-05-28
It seems every year soloist, Brian McKnight, drops a chart topping single to prepare us for an album and the title track, "Anytime" leads off well with the Me'shell N'degeocello sample piano. Anytime contains the complete involvement of a relationship and he doesn't forget to give a little more with the almost spiritual "When The Chariot Comes" to conclude this lp. Because Brian does most of the writing and producing it's almost as if you like one, you'll like them all and the impressive drums and sample was a good addition for "Jam Knock". The easy listening of "You Got The Bomb" and "I Belong To You" adds some substance to the smooth vocals of Brian McKnight. Anytime after dark let this soothe you.

Over a recording career that spans three decades, Canada's Bruce Cockburn has established himself as a passionate social advocate, a deft guitarist, and an adventurous musical spirit. Though nobody would characterize him as a singles artist, this collection of tracks originally earmarked for (and often ignored by) radio presents his often earnest, occasionally elliptical song craft at its most accessible. Cockburn's rhythmic insistence and airy arrangements--punctuated by jazzy violin and saxophone--redeem "If I Had a Rocket Launcher" and "A Dream Like Mine" as more than sloganeering, though the stridency of "Call It Democracy" belabors the message at the expense of the music. Bookended by two new cuts, this anthology anticipates a reissue series of Cockburn's catalog through his new association with Rounder Records. --Don McLeese
Customer Reviews:
Very Best of Cockburn.......2007-02-22
I am just newly acquainted with the powerful lyrics, melodies, and beat of Bruce Cockburn. I now own 6 CD's, but this one, my first, is my favorite. All strong winning songs and 16 in total. I feel guilty enjoying his social commentary songs like "When A Tree Falls," as much as I do, for they relate to our failures in dealing with the environment and other peoples as things to abuse for our benefit. I guarantee you will not be sorry you bought this CD.
All the Good Stuff on One Disc.......2006-07-18
Anything Anytime Anywhere: Singles 1979-2002 puts some of the best Bruce Cockburn songs all in one place. From early favorites like "Wondering Where the Lions Are" to more recent gems like "Pacing the Cage" and "Last Night of the World," this album features a great mix of songs that are fairly well-known. The only song that I miss in this collection is "One of the Best Ones." Bruce's beautifully crafted lyrics and melodies make him an inspiration for burgeoning singer/songwriters like myself.
Bruce is amazing.......2006-05-21
This is a nice compilation of tunes, old and new. My Beat is great, and so is Tokyo. They are all terrific, really. I highly recommend this album!!!!!
Poetic Lyrics and Captivating Music.......2005-08-17
This is an excellent collection. Bruce has a knack for getting to the heart of world political matters through song. He does it with love and care and the soul of a poet.
I highly recommend this CD. I am enjoying it very much.
Not the Best Introduction.......2005-07-04
I love anything from Bruce, anytime, anywhere, but you could do better than start here. The new cut, "My Beat," is a waste of bandwith, and I hate it when they add one song to get you to buy an album. No wonder everybody is downloading. This is a best-of from Stealing Fire on (ca. 1984). From that period you'd be better getting Nothing But A Burning Light (which contains the excellent "A Dream Like Mine"), The Charity of Night ("The Coming Rains") or Breakfast In New Orleans, Dinner in Timbuktu. Or better yet, go back to 1979's Dancing In The Dragon's Jaws or 1980's Humans. Everybody has their beef about a pet song that's left off a compilation. I've got about 20, but I'm keep them to myself. Bottom line is: you owe it to yourself to stock up on this excellent songwriter's backlog.

While the sales of Sarah Brightman's ambitious, Middle Eastern-themed 2003 album Harem may have fallen short of its predecessor, the veteran UK chanteuse's popularity as a live performer has only mushroomed. This live recording of her ambitious, sold-out Harem World Tour engagement at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Arena is testament to that appeal, begging the question: Will Brightman become the Grateful Dead of classical crossover? Indeed, abetted by the rich sonic textures of longtime producer/collaborator Frank Peterson, the worldbeat conceits of her recent studio recordings are folded into a larger, even more expansive live vision here. Brightman's overt dramatic instincts and oft-chaemeleonic vocal abilities drive a slate of material that stretches from the Arabian Nights/Madame Butterflypastiche of Harem's seductive "It's A Beautiful Day" through surprisingly effective classical/rock reinventions of Kansas' "Dust in the Wind" and
The Moody Blues' chestnut "Nights in White Satin" to expected classical bowings "Nessun Dorma" and the obligatory nod to
"Phantom of the Opera"

AMAZING! She is so much better live!.......2006-12-02
This CD rocks! This is Sarah Brightman on her Harem World Tour, and this performance was recorded at her stop in Las Vegas. The first two tracks, "Kama Surta" and "Harem Overture" debut from her newest album, entitled HAREM. The two tracks are connected, but in the actual Harem Tour, the full piece "Harem" is sung. If you go to www.youtube.com and type in "Harem Tour" in the Search Bar, you can see live videos. I would prefer that the album has placed "Harem" instead of these other two tracks. The third track, "It's A Beautiful Day", is from Madame Butterfly, written by Puccini. This version is Brightman's twist, which some more pop and some English. It's pretty cool. The fourth track on the album, "Dust in the Wind" is from EDEN, an amazing album. Track 5 is, "Who Wants to Live Forever", and it seems as though Brightman never creates a tour without putting this piece in it. It's a beautiful tribute to Queen's rendition. Track Six is "Anytime, Anywhere", also from EDEN. I'm not really into the Foreign Language - English songs, but this works very well, especially because she ends the song with the classical foreign language. The seventh track is Brightman's rendition of Dvorak's "Song to the Moon", or "La Luna". The track is beautiful! The eighth track is Puccini's "Nessun Dorma", and Sarah masters this beautifully! There is no other soprano I know that can sing this piece one octave up and can hold the ending note for ever!!! Track 9 is "The War is Over", which is followed by "Free", both from HAREM. Track 11 is "A Whiter Shade of Pale", from LA LUNA. It's beautiful to listen to. Sarah's version is very gentle, but has a lot of energy in the chorus. The twelfth track on this album is "Twisted Every Way", followed by an instrumental version of "The Phantom of the Opera" Theme. The next track is "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again", which is extended at the end, in which you hear some men cry out "WE LOVE YOU SARAH!", and she responds cutely with an, "I love you, too." The audience laughs! Track 14 is "Time to Say Goodbye", the duet that made Andrea Bocelli famous, and skyrocketed as the number one single sold in German history! The last live track on the album is "A Question of Honour", from "Fly", which is awesome! The last track on the album is a bonus track, which I don't really prefer. However, the whole album is simply amazing. I much prefer Sarah when she is live. She has a more magical quality! If you love Sarah Brightman, then you will love this album.
ALSO RECOMMENDED : Since there is so much Sarah Brightman to choose from, I also recommend EDEN, TIME TO SAY GOODBYE, LA LUNA, CLASSICS, and DIVA.

What an album, absolutly beautiful!
We, the fans of this great artist finelly have in our hands a live album, and it's amazing:
-The voice is totaly live, she sang about 24 complete songs in the show, but the album only contains 15.
-Snow In The Sahara is a lovely song.
If you have the chase of get this alubum, don't doubt and get it; It wond disapoint you!
astounding performance.......2005-06-07
an impeccable concert experience that successfully elevates the album to majestic heights. I had long been a fan of Dead Can Dance and the unparalleled work of Lisa Gerrard. When Sarah Brightman ventured into these Middle Eastern sounds on the Harem disc, I thought it was too derivative of the Dead Can Dance sounds (there is even a sample used on one of SB's songs that had previously been used within DCD).
However, experiencing this epic and intensely mystical concert compelled me to realize the individual and unique glory of Sarah Brightman. Also, this concert is so phenomenally entertaining at many levels that I couldn't help but fall absolutely in love with the special magic of Sarah Brightman. Obviously, the expansive Middle Eastern milieu can accommodate more than one angelic vocalist!
I now consider Lisa Gerrard and Sarah Brightman to be geniuses who both warrant goddess status in the pantheon of lyrical greats. To see either one of them perform live is surely one of the most powerful and memorable sensory experiences one could ever have!
Great, of course.......2005-03-18
Sarah's voice and style are terrific, as usual. However, I have to say that her version of Anggun's "Snow on the Sahara" is fairly bland, especially compared to the original Anggun version. Sarah has the chops but lacks soul on this great song. Everything els here is very nice.

Customer Reviews:
Henry Paul Band- Anytime.......2005-02-20
I was introduced to Henry Paul Band through my college radio station at Western Carolina University. Back in 81, "Keeping Our Love Alive" was being played quite often. I didn't know the Henry Paul bio at that time or his impressive Outlaws history. All I knew was I liked that song and wanted to hear more. After years of only finding a worn out album in a used bin, I am now happy to own the CD.
Another reviewer stated it correct when he said that this is not quite the same as the country-rock style of the Outlaws, but the voice is a dead give away. Later in his career, Henry went on to front Blackhawk, and that voice drew me to those tunes as well.
Living Without Your Love, Anytime, and even the remade over 1 billion times, Brown Eyed Girl, are choice tracks.
I would say take the chance if you like the voice, because it definitely makes an impact on the tunes. Henry had a hand in the songwriting on all of the tunes except BYG. It makes for good music.
Song credits list Bill Champlin, Richard Paige and Tom Kelly as background vocalists. That is an "A" team if there ever was one. I would have love to have been in the studio watching those sessions happen. Add to that the fact that contributing co-song writers include Jim Peterick, Don Barnes and Jeff Carlisi, the CD has a strong supporting cast.
Leave it to Wounded Bird to make this CD available.
The Best From the Henry Paul Band.......2003-09-05
I've been a long time fan of the Henry Paul Band, and in my opinion, this CD is their best effort. It seems to me they hit the perfect combination of Pop and Southern Rock on this release. While not as country influenced at "Grey Ghost" nor as Southern-rockish as "Feel The Heat", this CD combines all the elements of what had gone before in the Henry Paul Band and it works perfectly. My personal favorites are "Hollywood Paradise" and "766-2623(ROMANCE)". These are hard driving rockers. The CD also contains a few nice uptempo love songs, "Living Without Your Love" and "Keeping Our Love Alive". "Anytime" is a bit slower, and it is also good. This is a GREAT CD.
The Former Outlaw Does Great On His Own.......2003-07-02
ANYTIME is a great solo album from former Outlaws guitarist Henry Paul. It feature a mix of Allmans/Skynyrd Southern rock with the AOR of bands like Axe and Sammy Hagar. There are many great songs here, so get it if you can.

What's happened to Debbie?.......2005-04-15
I am not a staunch Gibson fan like most of the drooling 5-star reviews here. But I loved her in the 80's and think her to be a talented singer-songwriter who puts modern pop moppets to shame. I thought it was awesome when she broke into Broadway and made a steady career of it.
Then I heard 'Colored Lights'.
I ask, Debbie!(sorry, DEBORAH), what has happened to you??
Like others here, I applaud her choice to include lesser-known songs. But in doing so, it really behoves her to SELL them as great songs, not rework them for her own interpretation. I felt like I was listening not to the pure-toned, crystal voice of our favourite teen idol, but someone doing a bad impersonation of her. There is hardly a single line she sings which isn't punctured by bad ennunciation, poor phrasing or a lack of respect for the intent of the composers.
There were no gravelly growls(meant to sound sexy, no doubt, but too overdone to succeed), breathy sighs, uneven tone, lacklustre dynamics, excessive scooping, wavery pitch and lack of top range in the Debbie Gibson I remember. But her voice on this album is such a mere shadow of its youthful self that she resorts to these irritating vocal bandaids to get through the song. Any track that had a 'big finish' invariably caused her to run out of steam long before she got there. A belter, Deb is not.
(and I know what I'm talking about, I'm a trained singer myself. If Deborah has a singing teacher, he/she should be shot).
This album was a huge disappointment for me. I love Broadway, but Deb fails terribly to give these songs the great renditions they deserve.
I should add, I have never had the fortune to see Deb sing live, so for all I know, maybe she COULD have done these songs justice had she avoided the pop slant. But this album shows neither the songs nor any talent she still has to advantage at all.
Listen to some Idina Menzel if you want a pop-feel voice that can also out-Belt them all.
A Taste of Broadway.......2004-10-13
I've been a fan of her since God only knows. I know she's not just talented but she is very passionate of (her) music. Knowing that she moved herself into broadways, it's rather of a challenge for me to listen to the songs especially when I'm too familiar with her pop genre. But after a while, I'm used to it coz Debbie is still Debbie to me. She's not afraid of re-arranging the original song to her style, at least she knows what she's doing and again she's proven it. My most favourite track is "Colored Lights", it's light, cheerful, somewhat witty and, in a way, brings up my imagination of seeing her (and the casts) on stage performing the song. All in all, Debbie still has a class and style for us to share.
OUCH!.......2004-08-23
Deborah Gibson is a talented rock star. With a good musical director, she has proved herself to be a wonderful musical theatre performer. This album, however, is a very uneasy marriage of the two genres. She sings every showtune on the album as if it's a pop tune with horrendous bubble gum arrangements. I have seen Miss Gibson in two musicals and have heard her sing showtunes live on other occasions- she knows how to sing showtunes. On this album, however, she's trying to pander to her pop audience and in the process, she created an album that fails as a pop album and as a showtune album. I can only hope that Miss Gibson finds a better musical director the next time she decides to record showtunes.
(Deborah Gibson ) AT HER BEST!!!!.......2004-04-23
Deborah really sing's her heart out on this cd
and it is a must for all of Deborah's Fan's.
Please take the time out and listen to some clip's
of some of the song's from the album. Thank's.
Love You Deborah!!!!
You are the Best!!!!
Deborah delivers deliciously.......2004-02-13
After more than 15 years in the business, Deborah Gibson has learned many lessons and fulfilled many dreams. After 2001's horrifyingly misguided "M.Y.O.B.," she returns to the adult contemporary sound that landed her two number one hits on the Billboard charts, and turns that up a couple of notches. By selecting 13 showtunes from varying Broadway musicals, Gibson satisfies immensely, and delivers a unique compilation worthy of at least one full listen.
"Colored Lights" is not meant to be a showcase of hit tunes; many of the songs on this opus aren't radio hits. Instead, Gibson puts together a delicious smorgasbord of rhythmic melodies and heartfelt ballads that complement her voice (that, strangely enough, hasn't seemed to change that much after more than a decade in the industry).
What is also important to consider in one's evaluation of "Colored Lights" is that, while comparison with the original works/performers is inevitable, we should also take the time to consider that Gibson's pop sensibilities will always shine through. Perhaps it is for that reason, that Gibson has had the best of both pop stardom and Broadway success, that she gives new dimension to these melodies.
The standouts on this collection include "I'd Rather Leave While I'm in Love," which radio would do well to pick up, as the soothing melody and heartfelt delivery will find AC audiences easily; "On My Own," off "Les Miserables," where Gibson as Eponine sounds both heartbroken yet hopeful; the playful title track, from "The Rink," which features some of the most whimsical lyrics I've heard off Broadway thus far; "Raise the Roof," which is truly enjoyable in its pseudo-Latino reincarnation in Gibson's hands (yes, it does beg for a house remix; Gibson's gay audience will see to its success), and "Anytime (I Am There)," which is heartbreaking in its stark delivery, and is easily one of my top five Gibson tracks of all time.
Admittedly, Gibson can't overcome comparisons to the definitive versions of some of the songs. Let's face it: Debbie ain't no Barbra. Her versions of "I'm the Greatest Star" and "Who Are You Now?," while stellar on their own, just fall flat when compare to Streisand's. "Let Me Entertain You," off "Gypsy," ironically, isn't very entertaining, and "Blame It On The Summer Night" drags on.
All in all, "Colored Lights" puts together a collection of songs that are quite distinct and classy, and is easily one of the more worthy albums in Ms. Gibson's discography. She would do well to continue producing albums along this line instead of trying to fight the Britney's and Christina's, because those fads fade, and only the classics remain. Trust in "Colored Lights" to earn a well-deserved place in that section of your record collection.

A solid funk CD.......2002-04-10
I picked this CD up because I am a huge Buckethead fan. First off let me state that Buckethead's guitar were a big disapointment on this CD. He really didn't do much playing at all and there wasn't one rift on the whole CD, but some of the songs were pretty good. I am into Bill Laswell and his ambient style music so I enjoyed the last five or six tracks of the CD alot. The songs that had lyrics acompanying them were a let down. I had hoped for some interesting vocals like you usually get from a Bucket side project, I.E. Praxis or Corn Bugs, but this was just a host of assorted vocals and nothing that I would consider to be good vocals. The CD seemed to be split in half, one part was pretty folkish with a little sampling, and then BOOM they pull a 180 and go ambient dub/funk. It was interesting but made listening to the CD a little bit weird because the whole attitude of the CD changes half way through. All in all this CD was a fun listen, but it will probably go onto my shelf and won't come down for a while. Only get this CD if you are a Buckethead completist or if you are a big fan of Bill Laswell and his ambient music because you'll like the last half of the CD.
Definitely Check This Out.......2002-03-22
I am listening to this album as I write this. Unbelievable. Banyan is headed up by Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins. Yes, the drumming is great. In addition, all the instrumentation is great, and this involves all kinds of percussive sounds, trumpet, clarinet, piano, bass, guitar, synthesizers, sound effects, singing, birdsong, watersplashes. The music evolves and slips around and grooves, and there is not one phrase that is not well orchestrated. These are first-rate musicians that create synergy. A couple of the tunes have vocals - fun ones at that, one featuring a really sexy voice (Cindy Juarez) in "Keep the Change." I can easily play this whole album without skipping around for favorites. Recently, I've realized that great music has been created within the past few years. Sometimes I just don't get to hear it on the radio. Once again, this album is unbelievable. I am certainly looking forward to hearing Banyan's first album.
Outstanding alternative music.......1999-03-30
A great album, I also couldn't get it locally but did from Amazon. Steve's rhythm makes this alternative music outstanding.
"A great album, you must listen!".......1999-03-26
Banyan's new album Anytime At All is great. After hearing "La Sirena" on my local radio station, I was drawn to buy it. However, when going to my local music store, I couldn't find it. In any case, it's a great album.

Country Music for non-Country Music Fans.......2007-05-16
This album is fantastic! I picked it up after hearing it on a listening station at Music Millennium. Elisabeth's voice is not overly twangly like the pop-country I've stumbled upon scanning the radio dial. More importantly, her songwriting is interesting and feels real - it clearly has not been churned out of the Nashville country music song-o-matic. Her backing band, the Countrypolitans, make listening to this record a real treat. This group of musicians know their history and their instruments. They are as adept at 40's/50's era country as they are teetering on the edge of rock. This disc has been in heavy rotation since picking it up 2 months ago. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Jim Jenkins, Trial Attorney, Pensacola, FL.......2006-01-31
I listened to Michaels's music almost continuously the weeks before a recent murder trial, in my car, at my office and at home while preparing alone. This is the period of time when intense preparation is an absolute must and when the stress and anxiety associated with doubts of my own inadequacies and self doubts abound. His music soothed, comforted and reduced my fears and took me to a place where I felt less stress and more creativity. I look forward to him creating another great album. I am buying The River for several of my trial lawyer friends across the country. I would recommend it highly for anyone who has stress in their lives or with their work. I would recommend it for anyone.
Healing Music for People and the Planet.......2004-03-30
Michael's connection to the essence of nature is sublime and beautifully aligned with the lyrical rhythm of one day with the river spirit where the world just floats away. Listening to his CD during my morning meditation and in the evening after work, it instantly soothes me, centering my soul. His musical artistry and diversity are apparent with his multi-level solo use of many instruments and moods. Recently, the ultimate knowing showed how clearly Michael understands and resonates the Earth's voices. When "The River" is playing while working in my garden there are two magnificent Cooper's hawks that always come to sit in the Southern magnolia and call along to his music. Now I have realized other birds also begin singing that are silent before he plays for them. We are all very blessed to have Michael's extraordinary music flowing now, as well as his incredible books, to help our souls sing and for healing all creatures and our precious Earth. We look forward to much more from Dr. Michael DeMaria.
