Demonophonic
The sound of demons, of something thats been possessed. Never heard the phrase before? Wont matter; the first time you hear Tony C, youll know. Youll just know.
This guys possessed all right, though the spirits were talking about could just as easily be the stuff stirred up by his favorite bartender at the local pub -- demonophonic tonic, with more than a splash of the good stuff. Any and every instrument fits in his hands like it was born there.
Maybe youve been to upstate New York. Probably took at least a dip through the deep South. Thats Tonys path; his story. A whiff of the Mississippi Delta, cold-filtered by way of the sticks north of NYC. Tonys been there, lived there, of there. Twenty seven years of good, hard life, with an approving nod from the spirits of those who came before, who went to the crossroads and shook the devil to his very soul. As Tony puts it in his song "Who I Are," "Disembodied voice, disenfranchised mind laying down rhymes transcending time. Cause I fought the demons and I wear the scars and who I am is who I are." Ask about his influences and hell tell you that his father gave him G, C, and D chords at 9 and bought him an Elvis book at 10. Ask him why he has not quit smoking (Lucky Strikes, unfiltered) and hell tell you that his grandfather taught him that, "quitters never win."
Demonophonic Blues
Thirteen songs, ranging from the funk & rock driven single "Little Bit More" to the old school ballad "No Pain," complete with the kind of guitar licks that B.B. Kings main squeeze Lucille might have spit out at you. But the real kicker is the cover of the Beastie Boys anthem, "Fight For Your Right". After hearing the Truths live version, complete with harmonica breakdown, you realize there aint nothing left to do with that number except retire it. Every track was recorded entirely at Tonys "compound:" a couple of trailers and an old barn that now, thanks to Lava, houses some of the most sophisticated recording equipment known to man. And yet Tony held back on the studio tricks in favor a more live-sounding set that runs the gamut from rock and funk to hip-hop and dirty blues -- all tied together by that signature, husky, jaw-dropping voice.
"The Truth?" They may follow Tonys name on the album, but theyre far from an afterthought; theyre the antennae that channel Tony C.s demonophonic soul into this world. Roll call goes something like this: Patrick Halley on rhythm guitar, Jason Moscartolo on lead guitar, John Harvey on bass, Tobias Ralph on drums, and, mixing it all up on the boards is the alias otherwise known as DJ Prestige.
That about does it. So pull up a stool, knock back a shot and settle in for the stripped-down lowdown, the real deal. The Truth.

incredible sound.......2007-07-09
Fresh, exhilarating blues-rock. Wow!.......2006-03-30
Great blooze-rock mixed with interesting electronic touches including samples, intermitant rap-like mantras, accelerated and amplified blooze choogles.
This is a fun cd, at it's heart is the spirit of, say, 'The J. Geils Band'(frm the 70's)...but this is the 21st century and the powerhouse performance has a hard-core edge that blows that 'ol comparison away.
Tony C has a voice that is very deep and "warm" like Isaac Hayes, however when you couple that with some blistering power chord rave-ups of guitar driven blues-rock; add throughout inventive wordplay as well as some shout-outs and sing-a-long lyrics...well, you got a party groove that is streetwise and razor sharp.
When the cd fully kicks in about mid-way you realize that Tony C & the Truth have got their fist around a sound that really works. A terrific cd. Recommended!
Tony C & the Truth ROCKS!.......2005-08-02
One of the best new rock acts out there........2005-04-15
This guy Tony is a much needed shot of good surly charisma that rock music has been long overdue for. His uber-rasp vocals, delivered with the street-wisdom and finesse of some the greatest in blues, coat the endless barrage of infectious hooks that are this debut album. The DJing that I would normally have found irritating is perfectly in place, the ballads aren't wussy, and the rockers are just plain ol' dirty fun.
If you still like good rock n' roll with a hefty helping of blues, funk, and urban grit this is a very sound purchase.

Tony C. & the Truth the Real Deal!.......2006-05-20
My Favorite album of 2004!.......2004-06-07
The entire band is laid-back and down to earth. Tony and the guys signed numerous autographs (and body parts) and maintained their sense of humor.
Tony's voice is enough to make women melt, his lyrics are great, and the music amazing. A bit of blues, lots of rock, some great tracks laid down by DJ Prestige and you have an album that has stayed in my CD player for a week straight. I've been recommending it to everyone!
