Product Description
The name Jerry Samuels may elude even hardcore comedy fans, but his nom de plume Napoleon XIV was inescapable in 1966, when his novelty classic, "They're Coming To Take Me Away," swept the country. The infectious ditty, warbled by a refugee from an insane asylum, benefited from ingenious effects and production that made it popular on radio stations across the nation. The record became a million-seller almost overnight and spawned several knock-off's, as well as an album that soon became a valuable collector's item. Rhino was weened on novelty records-in response to popular demand, we reissued the Napoleon XIV album on vinyl back in the '80s-so it's a natural home for The Second Coming. This CD includes the legendary LP in its entirety, plus three tracks from a lost follow-up album and recent recordings, all of which demonstrate how thin the line between genius and madness really is...plus, newly penned liner notes from novelty expert Dr. Demento!

4 out of 5 stars I agree with Shaun of the dead..........2007-06-16

I like this album too! This was my first exposure to the Stone Roses - I heard "Love Spreads" in a music store and it sounded good to me. Eventually I picked up the Complete collection which is good too, but I guess I can see why fans of their earlier stuff wouldn't like this album.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Second Offering.......2007-05-27

I did indeed like the self titled debut from The Stone Roses, but "Second Coming" is much more to my liking. John Squire's guitarwork is so much more on this offering, with his styles ranging from rock, funk, blues, and much more. Ian Brown's vocals are excellent, and provides a nice balance between music and song. A little more upfront than the debut, but with perfect range. Gary "Mani" Mounfield's bass is fantastic. One of the better bassists, who has a more faster, rhythmic rock pace, yet subtle enough when needed. Alan "Reni" Wren, in my opinion, was (and still could be if he ever surfaced again) one of the best drummers to sit behind a kit. Reni depended on shear ability, rather than the flash of monsterous sets of equipment.

I loved "Second Coming" from the first time I listened to it. Every song is a good one, and the following are some of my favorite tracks:

As many people have said, to have an 11+ minute intro is rare, but to have an 11+ minute intro like "Breaking Into Heaven" is pure genius. From the ambient jungle sounds, jungle drums, to the guitar entry, and then Ian vocals, this track is amazing. It truly shows how great this band is. And many times I just want this song to go on and on and on.
"You can have it all anytime you want it. Yeah, the kingdom's all inside"

"Driving South" comes right at you and allows John to really shine. A great piece of guitarwork for sure. So many times John's style is compared with Jimmy Page's sound and style, but being an original Page lover, I can honestly say that John's work is more crisp and sharp, with a more edgy sound, which definately sets him apart.
"I'm only here to see if I can steal your soul"

"Ten Storey Love Song" is a softer track, which melds together an eastern and western flavor, along with steady vocals, and a great melody.
"Oh well I built this thing for you and I love you true"

And then from another direction "Daybreak" kicks up the funk. John, Mani and Reni pull out the funk for sure on this one. The trio lead you on a great ride, while Ian keeps you comfortable all the way thru. And Simon Dawson's keyboards round out this song just right. This song stands out to me a one of the songs that allows The Stone Roses to really shine, showing off their true talent and ability.
"Yeah Yeah Yeah"

And then, "Begging You" comes from an even different direction, pumping you up into a psychedelic club-like frenzy. Ian really shines on this track, letting you know his true ability of vocal talent. You are truly hypnotized and treated to a musical thrill ride. Another song that sets this band apart.
"Make all the dust that you can, king bee in a frenzy ready to blow"

"How Do You Sleep" turns everything around, and gives you a taste of good ole fashion blues and soothing rock. Ian's vocal give you an almost Grateful Dead sound, while John and the guys treat you to a melody reminiscent to the Allman Brothers. Together, this makes for a wonderful song. And to me, for a UK band, this is true genius!
"When the angel of death comes knock knocking and banging at your door"

"Love Spreads" is the one song that actually got a lot of airplay here in the states, and still does on occasion. Im glad for this, as it keeps The Stone Roses alive, and may make some casual listeners check out the rest of their offerings. This track is another good example of John's true talent, with some nice bluesy slide riffs, and straight up good guitarwork. Also Reni gets in on the vocals as well.
"The messiah is my sister, ain't no king man she's my queen"

An excellent offering from The Stone Roses. I just wish this band could have done more, and allowed us to experience more of what they had to offer.

4 out of 5 stars What Can You Say?.......2007-05-26

There is a great temptation as an artist who has just had a lage commercial break through to turn in a bloated over produced sophmore effort, and the temptation is just as strong for reviewers to call these albums master piece. Look no further then The Killers Sam's Town or Oasis' Be Here Now for evidence. This album on the other hand was never headed as a masterpiece rather, well a drug fueled ecclectic mess worthy of the garbage bin.

In truth it is no question that this album is neither a masterpiece or garbage material but rather the remarkable efforts of a band who were well and truly on their last legs and whose main songwriters were torn apart by a bitter rivalvry over control of the band and Ian Brown's drug use, which occording to John Squire "Left him useless in the studio".

John Squire pushed The Stone Roses in a slightly heavier direction this time around, his riffs wind their way around overly confused medolies which, on certain tracks, work brilliantly. The problem however is that the album has no direction, no meaning, nothing to keep listeners coming back.

Of course this album was always going to be dissapointment, quite simply because the first album was one of the greatest albums of all time, and nothing was going to top it.

5 out of 5 stars great riffin & drummmin...........2007-02-28

I read the following from Andy Grubb in a recommend disk list:
"Just put it on repeat and go about your life."

one of the best disks in the last 40 yrs of rock. I like it as much if nt more than their first great CD.

cover is perverse unless it means to say soemthing.

the music however, is excellent. Variety of great songs and rock and music styles. If you like the Raconteurs, Wolfmother, or Led Zepp or even the Beatles you should enjoy this very much. A little psychedelia, a little pop, a little raver, a whole lot of riffin and drummin that ties everything together.

imho these guys were years ahead of their time.

oh well, only time will tell.

4 out of 5 stars It's Like the Evolution of the 60s.......2006-11-14

Think about it: Imagine the first Stone Roses album as The Yardbirds. After a few years of gestation, what pops up? Led Zeppelin.

Similarly, "Second Coming" sees a band stepping out of its psychedelic haze and plunging into hard, blues-inflected rock. Those expecting to see 1967 rehashed again will be sorely disappointed. This is more like watching Zeppelin circa '69. Indeed, Driving South and Love Spread come straight out of the blues rock playbook that Zeppelin and others wrote. I think that John Squire's attempt to be Page just irked those who weren't prepared for the sound's natural evolutionary course.

I reckon that other factors also fed into some people's disdain for this album. The CD itself is more of a mixed bag than the first album. Breaking into Heaven has a patience-depleting intro that consists of ambient jungle sounds. Its only when the funky guitar and Ian Brown pop up that one is truly roused. Tracks like Straight to the Man and Begging You, although sequenced right next to each other, expose constrating elements of this band's abilities. The distinction is quite apparent, but captivating. Other songs, however, just lack the "it" factor embodied in the first album's compositions.

The album's production might have something to do with it. While the first album boasted a hazy, psychedelic production that emphasized an aloof character, their album is much more down to earth. As such, things are brought to the fore and part of the mystery and ambiance just dissipates. It also makes the album harder to digest.

This album isn't perfect. However, it's not a carbon copy of its predecessor. If anything, the saga of the two Stone Roses albums echo the course of psychedelic music. Alas, many tracks don't stand up as well as they should, and the production removes some of the allure associated with the debut.

Still, if you liked the original and if you like early Zeppelin, this is worth checking out.

What fun!

3 out of 5 stars A Crazy Genius.......2005-04-15

Napoleaon XIV (I forget his real name) played piano in a little bar in town in 1969. He could pound out just about anything that was rewquested, and would make up complex lyrics and music for any requested subject. When I found out that he was also a recording engineer, (one of my interests at the time) I approached him and he was kind enough to invite me to a few sessions in NYC. I observed two nights of laying down tracks for a band named "The Fort Mudge Memorial Dump." Boring! After the second night the subject of "Psychedelics to heighten the creative process" came up. That's when I decided this was not the career for me! The man was a songwriting, recording and creative genius, though!

5 out of 5 stars Five Stars.........2003-12-14

For those with a sharp sense of humor, and fine tastes in music. Unlike the previous statement, I haven't found one poorly made set in the bunch. Definitely a product for your your most moody pals.

1 out of 5 stars tripe.......2003-11-28

if this 'music' were written today, it would
be too inconsequential to record--only 'split
level head' rises above the din--however, one
decent track out of twenty just doesn't cut it.

4 out of 5 stars Still crazy after all these years.......2003-11-20

Back in 1966, Napoleon XIV (Jerry Samuels) had a hit with one of the greatest novelty songs of all time, "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!". This CD includes all the material from the subsequent "They're Coming To Take Me Away" album, plus three tracks from his unreleased second album, the 1990 sequel to his hit, and four newly recorded songs. Although Samuels has dismissed the "They're Coming" album as a quick cash in product, most of the material is actually quite funny. You wouldn't think a whole album of novelty songs about mental illness would work, but somehow it does. The three tracks from his second album are very ambitious and well produced, but they aren't actually all that funny. Samuels apparently feels that "The Explorer" from that album is the greatest thing he ever recorded, but I have to respectfully disagree. "They're Coming To Get Me Again, Ha-Haaa!" is a worthy sequel to his hit. As for the four new songs, only one of them, "I Owe a Lot To Iowa Pot", is actually a full length song. The others are brief, rather silly, song fragment jokes. The hidden bonus track is the original b-side of "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!", "!aaaH-aH ,yawA eM ekaT oT gnimoC er'yehT", which is the a-side played backwards. This CD is a worthwhile purchase for all fans of novelty records.

5 out of 5 stars THERE IS JUST SOMETHIN' ABOUT ADINA...........2005-12-05

I LOVE THIS WOMAN. She is awesome and I do not feel she is in the same category of the other "sex kittens". Adina has a certain class about her. She's raw, but she's not triflin'! She's just real. The woman is sexy, she can't help it! I was first introduced to Adina Howard when she opened for a Boys II Men concert with I was in 7th grade - I've been in love ever since... When I left the concert I was like, Boys II Who??????? I loved the 1st CD, it's actually one of my top 10 favorite CD's of all time. This one was no disappointment. I love her voice and did I mention she's sexy? lol, for real tho - I'm Sold. Signed, Sealed, Delivered. (In response to one of the other reviews that said she needs Jesus, lol, WE ALL DO!)

5 out of 5 stars Adina IS BACK!!!!.......2005-08-25

I love this cd and I could not wait until it came out! It really irks me that people are hating on her she is not the only one singing about sex and I could see if it was uncouth the way she does it but it is not. And even though T-shirt and panties is old it still be cranking I was so siced they put it on this album because I can not recall ever seeing a single for this so that was a plus for me and besides anything Jamie Foxx writes is the bomb to me. I think she also needs to be promoted better. It makes me laugh when people says that all she talks about is sex but these same haters will scream like little girls if they met her in person!!!

3 out of 5 stars Well To Short.......2005-03-31

This album falls well to short of her first album, which I had for 10 years. She's talking more and singing less. "Missing You" and "The Man" are great songs. However, Adina has an excellent voice with a lot of good singing qualities. Unfortunetly she doesn't have the likes of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Quincy Jones, or George Duke to help guide her in her choice of songs. I like Adina. And she's still young. There is still room for improvement for her in the long term.

5 out of 5 stars MASTERPIECE!.......2005-01-11

This is Adina at her best. Hooking up with Missy and a few other folk, Adina brings the meaning of true baby makin' jams.

My personal favorites:
OUTSIDE THE CLUB (10/10) - A hip-hop beat with strings. Very good.

WANNABE (10/10) - Funny! Funny! Funny! Adina brings the raw truth about some dudes with a "La-La-La" beat.

CRANK ME UP (10/10) - Missy gets on the track with A.H. about gettin' high and feelin' this dude.

T-SHIRT & PANTIES (9/10) - This track was originally on "Welcome To Fantasy Island" but never made it's way to the states, only this song. one of the good F**kin' songs.

NASTY GRIND (10/10) - The 1st and last single of this album. Adina vibes to a guitar strummed song about nobody doing it like her. Another good baby makin' song.

BUTTNAKED (10/10) - WITH A CHIRP LIKE SOUND AND PIANO NOTES, ADINA IS BLUNT AND HONEST IN THIS TRACK. "YOUR BODY'S SO BANGIN' WE DON'T NEED NO PROTECTION TONIGHT." THE ULTIMATE BABY MAKIN' SONG.

The whole album is good, but those are the top tracks. If you want some kids, get this c.d.

5 out of 5 stars She's flat out good and underappreciated.......2005-01-11

5 out of 5 stars FUNK'D OVER WITH PLEASURE!.......2006-05-18

This CD came out in 2000.Man I sure slept through this one! Here it is 2006 and I'm just hearing this. Roger,Jr. definitly delivers the same funky music that his Dad played. To me, every song on this CD is outstanding. From the opening cut Beautiful Lady featuring The Legendary Uncle Charlie Wilson from The Gap Band all the way through to the last cut Can You Deal With This, this CD is way off the charts. For all you people out there who like FUNK, GET THIS CD! It's a guarantee.

5 out of 5 stars We love you Roger!.......2005-05-03

Roger Lynch Troutman! What can I say? He was a master just like his father was on the Talkbox and with his incredible vocals. If you loved Roger Troutman Sr., you'll love Roger Troutman Jr. The first song "Beautiful lady," features a guest appearance by "Charlie Wilson" from "The Gap band." There are also other tracks that I love. I love, "Right now, When we kick it, Come with me, and Being alone." I also love the tribute that he does to his Father, the late Roger Troutman. Roger Jr.,s talkbox sounds different then his father's but, he is a Troutman no doubt. The last track, "Can you deal with this," appears on this album and, C-bo's album. On Roger Troutman's album, it appears as an instrumental. I also do love the fact that he remade his father's songs. "So ruff, so tuff, and Dance floor."

4 out of 5 stars Like Father, Like Son 4.5 stars.......2005-03-10

Roger Troutman II came onto the scene in 2000 with his debut CD titled "Second Coming". This CD did not really make a lot of noise because of a lot of r&b/hip hop were really beginning to start to get caught up in the mainstream while this anticpated CD was up on billboards across St. Louis at the time. The first track a great song called "Beautiful Lady" with the Gap Band lead singer Charlie Wilson adding the vocals as Roger II laces up the vocoder which brings back so many memories of his daddy. The next song "I Wanna Take You Home" is a more up-tempo track with my homie Big Lurch from the Cosmic Slop Shop crew adding his lyrics. To me the CD from tracks 3-5 took a lot to grow on but it is still above average. Tracks 6-8 are very good especially track 8 with an unknown singer Brent Luv that gives his vocals on "Being Alone". Track 9 "We Love You Roger" with the great songstress Jewel who I think can really go and did not get a chance to showcase her skills after the descension of Death Row at that time. Then we go to the tracks I really brings back the memories with the freakin' ATL(Above The Law) adding the additional production to the classics "So Ruff, So Tuff, & my favorite song and remake "Dance Floor" where Roger II just gets busy on the vocoder on both tracks while on "Dance Floor" Big Hutch & Cold 187 rips it up representing Pomona, CA to the fullest. The next and last track is "Can U Deal With This" in which this is an instrumental not the original with I believe Big Lurch, C-Bo, & others(correct me if I am wrong) but still good to roll around in. Overall, this is an above average CD if you still love some funk with "So Ruff, So Tuff" & "Dance Floor" and I mean some gangsta funk. From news I heard of Roger II's passing really shocked me when I found out about it. I tell you I hope someone like DJ Quik could just do a CD with nothing but the talkbox(vocoder), it is still a great instrument that has really faded away due to this crazy movie & tv show samples and wack board play. RIP Roger Troutman & Roger Troutman II.

4 out of 5 stars Roger Troutman Jr.......2004-07-29

Well, I ran across this CD by accident. Actually I heard about Roger Troutman Jr's Cousin Rufus Troutman first so I bought both CD's. I personally like Rufus Troutman CD a little better but I can't take anything away from Roger Jr. Jr is Jamming. My favorite song on the CD is " I Wanna Take You home" I like the remakes that he did of his Father songs. "Dance Floor" & "So Ruff, So Tuff". If you an Old School Playa and like that Old School Funk with that Talk-Box flava. Roger Troutman Jr is a MUST! and on a sad note just like his Dad, Roger Troutman Jr is no longer with us. R.I.P.

Musical trends change at the speed of light. Hence, Second Coming's heavy grunge rock comes off as almost retro. Of course, that brooding Zeppelin-and-Sabbath-influenced sound was a bit retro from the start, really. And while this Seattle-based quartet does pray to the god of Alice in Chains and Soundgarden on tunes such as "Tonight," it also ably beefs up the testosterone with the thug boogie of "Soft" and moodily waxes atmospheric on "Vintage Eyes." The turgid sense of foreboding on "Free" also hammers home. In spite of occasional pretension and high dramatics on "The War" and "The Song" (in addition to an obvious affection for generic song titles), Second Coming still manage, through pure muscle, to bring grunge up to date. --Janiss Garza

Album Description

A modern heavy rock sound with melodic vocal hooks and plenty of angst.

5 out of 5 stars I Love It.......2007-01-21

This Item came promptly, it was in great condition. I love the band, I love the CD, and I couldn't be more pleased with how fast it was shipped to me. Kudos!!

4 out of 5 stars Excellent album that was highly overlooked!!! .......2006-12-13

Now is never a better time to buy this album. Going for as low as a quarter, this album has at least two tracks that most metal fans should know "Vintage Eyes" and "Soft". These were two tracks from this Seattle outfit that were very popular at the time of their relase at the trailing end of the grung era, right before "nu metal" came to the forefront. Reminiscent of sounds of Alice in Chains, Brother Caine, and pre-Godsmack, this band continues to record and make music even to this day because their music is really good. Other noteworthy tracks include Travisty and Unkown Rider. Pick this up, you will like it!!!

4 out of 5 stars There's More to Grunge than the Nirvana era.......2006-03-06

I picked this CD up from the bargain rack, knowing nothing about the band. I was rather nonplussed to hear such a clear Grunge sound from a ... 1998 ... album!

Not that I'm dissing that. I listened to my fair share in the early 90's, and I have "Dirt".

Although well rooted in Grunge, there are other "sounds" layerd in -- hints of The Wallflowers, or Faith No More, or Ozzy, or Guns N Roses. Check out as well the sentimental "Vintage Eyes" and lounge-y track #6, which create a calming center to the CD... before it rocks out again. (And believe me, there is plenty here to pull out that air guitar!)

In my mind though, it's the wailing, Billy Idol-like vocals, that really carry the album. "Electric Head" exemplifies this... a chaotic, clashing, song with both a driving beat and a languid, mournful sections.

This was a 3 star review at first. But I've come back and upped to 4. Grunge lives on!

3 out of 5 stars 1998 remembers this.......2005-10-24

Remember this group kiddies? There two popular songs( "Soft" and "Vintage eyes" make this worth buying used and only used. The rest of the cd kind fades so dont waist a lot of time on it listen to it once and add it to the collection.

5 out of 5 stars Rockin'.......2005-08-13

Anyone already familiar with Second Coming (remember the songs Soft and Vintage Eyes from 1998?) will enjoy this record. The first song off the album is worth asking price alone. I feel that this is a strong follow up record similar sound and all around enjoyable listen. They have evolved abit since their first record but they did not take a departure from their sound on the first record. For those who don't know about this band they come from the grunge/post grunge genre and are some good well written and executed rock. Thier sound is akin to the grunge era think alice in chains-esque music. I usually do not write reviews but this band is something I find myself listening to often. I think this band is for you if you have taken the time to read this review.

5 out of 5 stars Nunsensical!.......2002-04-27

Nunsense indeed is habit-forming, and it indeed is the magic word! I foud myself singing "I've Got Pizzazz" for the entire day after I listened to that CD. It's a great musical. I had the pleasure of seeing it on stage before buying the CD, so while I was listening to it, I could almost see the cast in my mind, dancing around and all. Highlights include "The Sister Prima Ballerina", "I've Got Pizzazz", "The Classic Queens", and "Angeline". Not that I don't love all of the songs, but those are the first four to come to mind. "Angeline" is very dramatic to a sense . . . the entire CD is wonderful. My favorite nun, however, I must say is Sister Robert-Anne... she's the funniest one. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to bring a bit of nunsense into their life.

4 out of 5 stars Fun showtunes for the family.......2001-09-14

This was a wonderful show and the music is tons of fun. It's great because the music is for everyone, but there are lyrics set up so that only adults understand some parts. It's just fabulous!

5 out of 5 stars THE BEST 'UNKNOWN' HARD ROCK/METAL CD.......2007-06-09

When I first discovered this CD a few years ago, I was totally blown away by how impressive it sounds from start to finish. I wasn't expecting a lot, but I had heard some good things about the song Heartbreak Blvd so I wanted to check it out. I am very glad I did! Heartbreak Blvd is truly a hard rock gem that should have become huge. I can listen to it over and over again (definitely worthy of being cranked at high volume from the car stereo)! Nobody's Home is probably my second favorite song. Living Without You, Ride the Storm, and Free are GREAT ballads, but they definitely don't come off as being sappy. They all have a harder edge to them and I hesitate to call "Free" a ballad. The rest of the songs are all good in various ways. None of them are are absolute killers, but I don't find much filler here at all either. Every song rocks pretty hard with plenty of great guitar action and drum pounding to satisfy any hard rock fan.

I own over 600 CDs from the hard rock/metal genre (mainly late 80's/early 90's material) and this CD ranks up there with the best of them. If you already own the material from the mainstream acts from that era (Poison, Ratt, Skid Row, Dokken, Scorpions, Ozzy, etc.) and you are looking for something new to listen to, this should top your list. I have been exploring a lot of relatively unknown acts like this lately, I will say that this is THE BEST overall CD I have come across in the dozens I have reviewed.

5 out of 5 stars This Album will never get old.......2005-06-18

It is a shame that Tim Skold is backing Marilyn Manson on bass. This is one of my all time favorate albums. This has been a staple in my collection for nearly 15 years. From beginning to end, this is glam metal done better. Harry Cody shines and shows us what a shredder can do and does it better. "Heartbreak BLVD" is a guitar driven gem with great hooks and fun to listen to. "Living Without You" is a power ballad that should have been an anthem for the broken hearted. Do yourself a favor and buy this now.

4 out of 5 stars Zinny Sounds Bitter (AKA. Johnny Angel).......2005-06-15

Well if you can't find what is spectacular about this record you don't like hard rock music. I have to say that it took me a few listens to get past Tims voice. He isn't the greatest singer! But there is no denying the songs. The song writing from the first album to the second are leaps and bounds better. Tim and Harry are at the top of their game. Honestly the worst part of the debut record was Zinny's over the top shrieking. It was a good album with a singer who didn't really know what he was doing.
The albums highlights are "Heartbreak Blvd.", "Living Without You" & "Can't Fool Me". With Tim's vocals on the second album it is a much easier listen. As the debut becomes annoying after a few songs in a row. I only wish Nirvana didn't completely kill hard rock because by now Shotgun Messiah would have been a household name. Harry was supposed to have recorded with Matt Kramer who sang on the first two Saigon Kick records. If it really exists let me know I am interested.

5 out of 5 stars Song for Song, one of the best albums.......2005-04-02

As a big fan of rock and metal I have to say that this was one of the greatest albums I have ever listened to. Song for song it refuses to let me down, just the epic sound enough is something I wish I had more of. I know little of the band at this point, but there must have been some serious issues that caused them not to become a mega rock band. Very glad I was recommended to this album and plan on soon picking up their self-titled album. An amazing sound and unique style, wow.

5 out of 5 stars great hard rock album, shut up johnny, I mean zinny.......2005-03-06

with the exception of the reviewer Johnny Angel who I think is the old singer for shotgun, Zinny j. Zan, I believe most hard rock fans will find this album indespensable. It is true SM changed and evolved on each successive release. The first cd was glam, decent but not great. This cd, straight ahead hard rock, delivered better than most of thier competition. The third cd, violent new breed(my personal favorite) was industrial metal. The true test of any band is the quality of the songs. This band passes with flying colors! Second Coming Starts out strong and caries you on a journey through many different styles of rock, each one delivered with power and grace. Not a bad song in the bunch. Looking back so many years later, all that matters is the music, not labels and this is great music. When a band can change styles and still be better at those styles than the bands that stick with their formula, that just proves their veratility and incredible talent.

TQ...the second coming, this CD is probably one of the best CD's I have purchased in a long time..probably since his last one to be exact. For those fans that really enjoy his music, this CD is one that will not let you down. I've introduced his CD to everyone I can and they all love it. It's addicting, his technique and style is one of it's own. He has really matured this album, his last one was great, but times and people change and on this album it's obvious he has, I love it. His many collabo's make it an excellent choice, E-40..he's always hot on collaborations, Ja Rule, and Warren G. This CD was worth every penny, I never get tired of it and since it's not available in the U.S. yet, I'm going to keep playing it loud. I've picked up lots of other CD's recently, I always go back to TQ's. No other album out there can match this, I promise that. With so many ... albums being put out these days, TQ is under-rated and highly skilled, can't wait for another.....JDB

5 out of 5 stars Máximo Respeto Gondwana!.......2007-03-04

5 out of 5 stars Gotta dig to find gold!.......2006-04-12

There are several ways to describe great roots reggae. Gondwana's "Second Coming", demands these types of descriptions. As we continue to separate the roots from the dancehall, it is becoming more and more difficult to find good roots, especially those that come with the original, evolutionary sounds. Well, Gondwana has placed itself in this particular category. With dynamic sounds, and positive vibes, Gondwana's bi-lingual approach to making music is nothing short of phenomenal. "Second Coming" drops the reggae beats that many bands we hear today can only attempt to duplicate. Smooth vibes, heaven sent horns, and beautiful lyrics saturate this album in every song. Please give it a listen with love and apprecication. You will quickly see that it is difficult these days to find a group that upholds the integrity, and quality that is only found in true roots reggae. Big ups to everyone out there that truly enjoys only the best!
