5 out of 5 stars buy it. Now. no, im serious, BUY IT!!!!.......2005-10-29

when i first felt the need for some against me!, i downloaded all the songs off of Reinventing Axl Rose. without knowing there were different versions, it turned out i downloaded all these ones (acoustic tracks) in place of the electic versions for these songs. well bassically Reinventing Axl Rose is one of my favorite albums of all, and due almost completely to the acoustic versions i stumbled upon. those tracks are simply fantastic. they're filled with raw pasion and energy, and without them, my musical tastes would have gone starved for something truely honest and fun.

5 out of 5 stars hahah patricia.......2005-10-10

hahahahah...patricia, that's awesome! to each his own. to AM! fans who wanna mellow out, this album is very nice.

1 out of 5 stars Dont Buy This CD.......2005-09-21

I got this cd because the reviews looked great and i wanted a nice acoustic cd to just mellow out to. When i got the cd, i was shocked! The actual music is fine, however the singer is terrible. His voice is extremely raspy, and i cant stand to listen to him. I just thought i'd put my two sense in. I dont know if there this band's regular music is good, but ill say pass on their acoustic stuff.

5 out of 5 stars goodness........2005-07-06

its so good. soooo good.

so good it made me speechless, which doesnt happen offen.

5 out of 5 stars You won't be able to stop listening to this.......2005-05-23

you need to get this beautiful cd, get the lyrics down, and then go sing your passionate heart out at a show. in today's world, few bands have such rockin music and thoughtful lyrics too. i am partial to bands with radical politics, but with this band, it's not just their politics that make them so great, but their energy and love of playing.

Album Description

With her instinct for melody, lyrics and deep-sinking emotional hooks, and having already opened for the likes of David Gray and Ed Harcourt, Rachael Yamagata has started a ground swell of anticipation for her debut 'ep'. Produced by Malcolm Burn (of EmmyLou Harris, Bob Dylan, and Patti Smith fame), the 'ep' reveals an emotional vulnerability that has drawn comparisons to the likes of Fiona Apple, Norah Jones and Sarah McLachlan - yet Rachael Yamagata is truly an artist in her own right.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars PDA (Pretty D@mn Awful).......2007-02-18

Only 1 good song. Rest were not worth it. Plus, only a few songs for the cost. Better off downloading or buying singles

1 out of 5 stars Terrible.......2007-02-03

I'm not sure what makes the other reviewers say good things about this album, making me buy it. This CD is terrible, boring, and depressing. Voice is ok, but the songs are not worth listening to. Check out Karla Bonoff instead.

5 out of 5 stars A great EP.......2006-07-24

This EP - unlike most EPs out therr - is actually worth buying. There is an extremelt intimate quality to this recording that really shows how captivating she is live. I've seen her a few times, and her seductive vocal qualities only get better as her career has progressed. Though there is a seriously sub-pop/jazz female vocal trend going around, Rachael definitely stands out. If you like her studio and live stuff, you should check out Gretchen Lieberum's new release "Siren Songs," who has the same kind of seductive voice with lyrics that are actually worth reading more into - just like Rachael's.

4 out of 5 stars Great for an EP.......2006-03-15

I felt that this EP really laid the ground work for her full length album. Buying this CD is a must before buying her full length album, "Happenstance." She has a very eclectic styles. The only downer is the fact that there are only 6 tracks.

5 out of 5 stars Teriffic!.......2006-02-15

I bought this after pretty much wearing out the RCA LP and was surprised to realize that I liked this disc even better. There are great versions of "Worn Me Down" and "The Reason Why" on it, as well as a few stellar tracks not on the LP. I especially like the first song, "Collision." Overall, there is a more ethereal, sparer, purer sound to this music, in my opinion, than on the LP, with some cool production touches. In any event, they are both terrific records, but if you liked the LP at all I wouldn't hesitate at all to buy this one.

5 out of 5 stars These guys are on fire.......2005-10-07

I have been following these guys for about a year now and they keep getting better and better each show. They opened for Dwight Yoakum a few months ago in LA and got more audience response then Dwight did. Buy this EP, it is top notch, you can't go wrong. See them in concert you will be amazed for sure. You can find DDB on Myspace too.

5 out of 5 stars This is a must for all Toad fans!.......1999-12-17

This is not a well known CD but one that should be in every true Toad fan's music library. Great acoustic performances in both studio and live settings. Also a must for anyone who has seen them live in concert. Too bad these guys broke up, they put on a great show. This CD is one way to experience that forever.

4 out of 5 stars Great Acoustic Set.......1999-10-25

This is a GREAT CD. Of course, anything Toad is automatic greatness, and when you add acoustic and live to the equation you have a sure-fire win on your hands. It's well worth buying, especially if you like the songs "Something's Always Wrong" (Great studio acoustic version) and "Walk On The Ocean" (Randy Guss calls it one of two possible quintessential Toad songs--and just listen to that chorus live!!) I just wish there weren't those dang breaks in mid-conversation.....

4 out of 5 stars Miss Them When They're Gone.......1999-07-24

Glen's clear voice and humanness PLUS the band's chemistry made for awesome live shows -- and a fine acoustic EP. On the anniversary of the breakup, missing them a good deal!

5 out of 5 stars Best acoustic set I have ever heard.......1999-07-24

This is by far the best acoustic set out there, all five songs are just right on the money. If your a Toad fan then this is a must buy. The recording of "Somethings Always Wrong" is the best mix yet of that particular recording.

5 out of 5 stars A fabulous set of great songs live........1998-08-24

This is a must have for toad fans. Hearing a band live brings you closer to the music, and the four live tracks on this cd are really great. It's also got an acoustic version of 'Somethings Always Wrong' which they recorded right after someone broke into their studio. Ironic? Altough it contains only five songs, it's well worth the buy.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful Album.......2006-01-01

These guys are so incredible! Real talent bleeding through their fingers as they play sans amps. If you ever listened to their older stuff, you'll hear a vast maturity in their sound comparatively.

"Ever So Sweet" "I Want to Hear You Sad" "Come Back" Wow! I can't express it enough how good they are. Imagine Dashboard injected with talent and a bit of realistic emotion (is it just me, or does Chris of DC sing about RANDOM stuff ... see also, "Remember to Breathe"). Do yourself a favor and buy this cd. But you can't buy mine. I'm not getting rid of it.

4 out of 5 stars fun for everyone.......2005-11-09

okay, this is a very good album. it's their best work to date in my opinion, infact, they should throw away the amps and just go acoustic for the rest of their lives!

i heard a track off their forthcoming (2006 triple disc ) album and it sounds like these boys are growing up. good stuff. if you're looking to get into these guys, start here.

4 out of 5 stars I like it........2007-03-01

I think this guy has some talent. I really like Bottle of Wine. Its a light song that is just fun to listen to it. I gave it a thumbs up on Pandora and I will give it a thumbs up here.

2 out of 5 stars Wine-y Guy.......2007-01-05

This kid could use some help. He has talent (he can play a guitar and sing fairly well), but he thinks singing about stupid stuff is cool. He seems to think that because he lives by the beach he is automatically cool and no matter what he writes or sings will have appeal. He should work harder at writing or cover good writers or keep busing at Chili's. His voice is a bit whiney and annoying that way, but I think he could break from that and actually do some pleasant stuff. Tommy...stay acoustic and work harder.

I have heard many artists who try to write simple, straight from the heart pop songs in the vein of Paul Westerberg and Tom Petty, but few can pull it off like WAZ. These songs have hooks that will be stuck in your head for days. It's catchy rock n roll with no BS! Buying this CD will only make your life better.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Fabulous.......2006-09-15

Wil Seabrook is, without contradiction, the most honest, genuine singer-songwriter of today's generation. His past music has dealt with social issues and topics that other artists avoid, and he's never been afraid to give voice to the voiceless, whether acoustically or rocking out with a band. On "New," Wil is back to playing solo and turns that same honest integrity inward with deeply personal lyrics and "organic," stripped down music. From the dark and edgy "All Always" to the lilting love song "Violets," "New" is simply an amazing piece of work. This is music that will find its way onto everyone of your playlists. Wil at his best.

"Stop Whispering" was a highlight of the Radiohead's debut album, Pablo Honey. If you don't already own that album, you should pick it up before considering investing in this CD single. If you already own that album, though, and really enjoy Radiohead's earlier material, this is well worth picking up for the bonus tracks. "Pop Is Dead," especially, is one of the finest things from this period in their career; more conventional than their later music, but fine in its own right, and hinting at new directions they would begin pursuing on their next album, The Bends.
