As a childhood Foreigner fan I would say with little debate that Lou Gramm has one of the best rock voices of our time and Foreigner was truly one of the greatest bands. In his solo project however he's still got the voice but the majic is gone. Don't get me wrong this is still a very good album w/ a couple of really good tunes but with out the rest of the band there to provide the perfect balance of voice, band, and lyrics it just doesn't reach the bar that was set so high. Very close but not quite the same.

Solid solo outing from Foreigner frontman.......2005-09-26

There are very few rock vocalists who can compete with Lou Gramm in full flight. If you need any proof of this, check out this second solo album by Gramm, recorded during a hiatus from Foreigner.

Sure its a little too slickly produced, but then that's a problem with most rock albums produced in the US during the late 1980s and early 1990s before grunge kicked in.

But on the plus side, it has great hook-laden tracks like the hit single "Just Between You and Me", "Angel with a Dirty Face", "True Blue Love" and "Day One".

Gramm is helped out on guitar by Nils Lofgren and the album is rounded out by a fine cover of the Small Faces' "Tin Soldier". Despite its production excesses, "Long Hard Look" stands the test of time and is a worthy addition to the collections of all Foreigner/Lou Gramm fans.

Great album by the phenomenal (former) frontman of Foreigner!.......2005-08-03

It's great to see this album re-released on a new label! It had been out of print on the original Atlantic Records label since the early 1990s. This re-release coincides with the re-formation of the Lou Gramm Band, which has been touring since 2003 after a hiatus of more than 10 years. Apparently Lou and Mick Jones (co-founder of Foreigner) have officially parted ways again (Lou also left Foreigner in the late 1980s, only to reunite with Mick in 1992).

In any event, many of the songs on this album are very good, showcasing Lou's solid songwriting skills and truly phenomenal voice. Highlights include "Just Between You and Me" (a major hit single in 1989-1990), "Angel With a Dirty Face", "True Blue Love", "Hanging On My Hip", and "Tin Soldier".

I would recommend this album to any fan of Foreigner, Lou Gramm, or just good solid rock in general. I also recommend going to hear Lou's re-formed band on tour. He's been dealing with very serious health problems over the past eight years, but he continues to regain his old form. Lou Gramm is a testament to the power of the human spirit to face and handle adversity.

Strong Vocalist.......2007-04-26

A real fighter with-gut vocalist. Angelic. I enjoy every song on this album. This is year 2007, Lou Gramm, come on back and deliver!

Just Love The CD.......2004-02-13

"Just Between You And Me" and "True Blue Love," the 2 hit singles from this are the best. Full of passion, emotion, and great rhythm. Better than "Midnight Blue!" My cassette is worn out, and I am hoping someone may want to sell me the CD, even if used. Just a brilliant recording artist!

A few unbelievable songs, a few not so great........2003-10-05

Like Lou Gramm's previous solo album ('Ready Or Not') this has some great songs surrounded by some horrendous filler. The one hit is the very 80s sounding light arena rock of the uptempo 'Just Between You and Me'. It's similar to Foreigner hits like 'Say You Will'. This was like my favorite song when I was about 7 and it was new. Very exciting and passion filled. Why does half of the crap that comes out today have to sound so UNlike this?

Aside from that, the slightly bluesy 'I'll Come Running' takes awhile to pick up, but it's a pretty good rocker. 'Hangin On My Hip' is the hardest song here, not real deep, and a little noisy, but good. 'I'll Know When it's Over' is another pretty good melodic semi ballad. The gem here which I can't recommend enough is the love trouble based opener 'Angel With A Dirty Face'. This semi hard rock pop song is BETTER than anything on Foreigner's own 'Inside Information' album. Take one listen and tell me it's not the coolest non hit 80s song you've never heard!

The pop/rocker 'Day One' and the heavier 'Tin Soldier are also fair but not great. The missteps are with 'Warmest Rising Sun' which just seems bloodless and uninteresting. The same for the slight boogie in the mid tempo 'Broken Dreams' and the long ballad 'True Blue Love.'
