Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Flex Your Ears.......2006-03-29

This would be the second most experimental album by Sponge. It comes in second only to Wax Ecstatic, which went way out there with slow introductions, strange endings, longe bridges preceeding choruses, and additional instruments like the piano and the saxaphone. On this one though, it was more the pace of the songs that varied. "Treat Me Wrong" is infectous and slightly vulgar. "28 Days" is edgy and raw and sounds even more so in concert. "Unpopular Girl" and "Suicide Away" are more slow and melodic.

One thing you will find on this record is lyrics that are captivating, circle around the point, and explain things in backward ways (just like I like it--the truth is not that easy to take in head on). Some things you will not find on this record are too many instruments, too much backup vocals, and extra noises.

4 out of 5 stars Soak This One Up.......2006-03-12

I only recently purchased and listened to this cd. Like a review previous to mine, I totally let this Sponge cd pass me by and had no idea they even released it until I did a search here on Amazon. The songs are great and remind me a lot of Rotting Pinata - my favorite Sponge cd. Unpopular Girl, Dandelions Roar and Suicide Away take the cake on this one. If you like Sponge this one wont dissapoint you. I wish these guys would come to California a little more often. I only recall one trip through in the past 8 years and wasn't able to catch any shows. I really like these guys.

1 out of 5 stars havent heard this album yet, thats why i gave it 1 star.......2004-11-23

i dig sponge, i have liked them since they released "rotting pinata", i have all their albums and have always wondered what happened to these guys....so i was on AMAZON.COM and i figured "what the hell" so i checked to see if anything new came out and couldnt believe they have one slip past me i knew nothing about. i havent heard this album yet and i have never had the chance to see them live but would love to. so i guess since they have gotten great reviews on AMAZON.COM, i bette go get it or order it. SPONGE ROCKS!!

5 out of 5 stars Kiss them goodbye..........2004-05-09

Although the end of the best lineup in this band is over, this record is still completely AMAZING, and has moments that sound like the very best of all their albumns. However, Joey Mazzola has departed, leaving just one original member Vin left. I think it's time for a solo career Vin. As far as I'm concerned JOEY is SPONGE.
This albumn is top to bottom...Great songs. Own it, love it, this is it from this fantastic band.

4 out of 5 stars The half I heard is great.......2004-04-04

I bought what I thought at the time was this full album at one of their shows, but it only had 28 Days, Dandelions, Roar, Leave this World, Love & Roses, Punch in the Nose, and Treat Me Wrong. Still, I thought it was great for a band that hasn't released an album since 1996. And I got it autographed by Vinnie and Joey! I will buy this one of these days, in hopes that the other songs are as good as the ones I heard. 4/5 stars since I haven't heard it all.
