I tip my hat to Ken Andrews. This is nothing like Failure, another great band with Ken, and that is a good thing. Year of the Rabbit has all these hooks that just keep you wanting to hear more. It's a very addictive album. It's poetic and honest.

I liked the first third of the album, but after a certain point it all started to sound the same to me. Reminded me of some of the more average moments of Failure. I listened to it strait through this morning, so perhaps it works best in small doses. Make sure you give it a listen before you buy.

I'm a huge fan of failure and I was glad to hear about Ken Andrew's new band Year of The Rabbit! I bought this album back in 2003 but I thought I would post my thoughts about this album finally. I was not dissapointed with this cd at all, there are like 2 songs I skip over but the rest are amazing and well written! My favorite song on the album would probably be "Lie Down". I wish they would've put "Burn" on this but all in all it's a good listen! The band has since broken up but you can catch The Joy Circuit, which is the YOTR members minus Ken Andrews. They have an EP on CDBABY worth checking out.

Disappointing release from Ken Andrews.......2005-04-25

I should start off by saying that this record really isn't that bad on it's own, but when you consider the source that it's coming from, it loses major points. Ken Andrews. Ken Andrews was an incredible song writer for the band Failure that existed throughout the 90's and released an absolute gem of a record "Fantastic Planet". So why does it feel like he lost something here with Year of the Rabbit? I know that he's still a good writer because this record does have it's occasional moments where he shines through and seems to be onto something, only to kill it a second later with something plain and boring and more "typical rock" that we've all heard before. This isn't Ken Andrews at his best. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but he seems to be taking the easy way out with this new band. The songs feel sort of lazy to me. "Absent Stars" and "Hunted" are good tunes though.
