Stephen Collins Foster is sometimes called America's first great songwriter, but you could make the case that he was also the country's first real pop star. Writing songs such as "Camptown Races" and "Oh! Susanna," Foster, a college dropout, was self-destructive, couldn't keep a marriage together, and ended tragically. Living on the Bowery, he gashed his throat in a fatal fall in 1864 at age 37, dying with only 38 cents in his pocket. The idea of a Foster tribute record may seem staid and archaic, particularly as his lesser known tunes are parlor and stylized minstrel songs. But minstrelsy was a lot like rock & roll, and the Pittsburgh native left behind an impressive body of work that draws upon the diverse branches of music brought to America by settlers and slaves from Europe and Africa. Beautiful Dreamer, on which 22 artists celebrate 18 of his compositions, surprises with its breadth of subject matter, tempo, and interpretation, including the use of the glass armonica and santour. Most of all, the album is uncommonly soulful--Mavis Staples's dignified but heartbreaking performance of "Hard Times Come Again No More," David Ball's elegiac "Old Folks at Home (Swanee River)," and the feathery rendition of "Slumber, My Darling" by Alison Krauss, Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, and Mark O'Connor resonate in both the heart and the head. If Foster, the pop star, were alive today, he'd likely sit at the piano in shades and gelled-up hair. But he'd be playing these same songs, timeless and achingly poignant. --Alanna Nash

Album Description

Although America's first great songwriter, Stephen Collins Foster, died 140 years ago, his legacy lives on in the hundreds of songs he left behind. Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster was recorded to celebrate his enormous gift to American culture. Foster's compositions (including "Oh! Susanna," "My Old Kentucky Home," "Camptown Races," "Jeanie With The Light Brown Hair" and "Hard Times Come Again No More") are woven into the fabric of our national identity, yet most music fans today know little about him. Foster has been unjustifiably overlooked in recent decades. No collection of his music recorded by contemporary artists has existed until now. Although tribute albums have become much too common, this project's historical significance distingusihes it from a crowded field.

Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs Of Stephen Foster is a collection of Foster's most beloved compositions - and lesser-known exquisite parlor songs of his day - sung by some of today's most respected musical artists. The album includes songs by: Raul Malo, Alison Krauss with Yo Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer and Mark O'Connor, BR549, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Judith Edelman, The Duhks, John Prine, Henry Kaiser, Beth Nielsen Chapman, David Ball, Michelle Shocked & Pete Anderson, Grey De Lisle, Mavis Staples, Ollabelle, Roger McGuinn, Suzy Bogguss, Will Barrow and Ron Sexsmith.

All of the proceeds from Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster will benefit American Roots Publishing, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving American regional culture through literature and art. Goals are accomplished by supporting artists who honor regional culture through their work and by linking them with communities in focused educational programs.

5 out of 5 stars Moving Modern Update to Classic American Songs.......2007-05-11

This collection is a thrilling and moving presentation of the core of American music, uniquely updated with new rhythms and insturments. The "Hard Times Come Again No More", by Mavis Staples, alone is worth the price. The rest of the songs are free.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful Album.......2007-04-05

This is a beautiful piece of work, obviously a labor of love for all involved. You can hear for yourself that Stephen Foster practically invented the modern song. How incredibly far ahead of his time he was. What other 19th century songwriter has received this kind of reverent modern tribute in the past 50 years??

My favorite track is No One to Love, which will break your heart.

5 out of 5 stars One hundered sixty years melted away........2007-03-20

The songs of Stephen Foster are as pertinent today as they were when he originally wrote them. "Beautiful Dreamer" and "I Dream of Jeannie with the light brown hair" float you away on a cloud of delight. In most instances, the powerful melodies and charming lyrics are not dated at all. The perfomers are some of the best around from our national treasure and keeper of the folk art, Roger McGuinn to the lesser known Raul Malo everyone brings to the CD the best of their wonderful abilities. The Duhks version of "Camptown Races is great and belies its Civil War era origins and Michelle Shocked and Pete Anderson's "Oh, Suzanna" makes you think it was just written. Buy this one for your collection or just to listen. J.Micheal Lelis

5 out of 5 stars Missing one song.......2007-01-17

This is a very easy album to hear. I do wish "Old Black Joe" had been included. It is such a mournful song.

I read somewhere the short lifetime of Steven Foster's earned him about $15,000.00 for his song writing!

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful eclectic collection.......2007-01-11

I am thoroughly enjoying this CD. Some of the songs are Stephen Foster classics, but others I had never heard before. The artists are quite diverse--again, some are well known (e.g. Allison Kraus) but most are new to me. Many of the arrangements are interesting and original. I especially recommend Mavis Stapleton's rendition of "Hard Times" which is very moving. I bought the CD because I heard this track on the radio.

5 out of 5 stars Better than Klonopin.......2007-01-16

I read a transcript of an NPR review that said Beth Nielsen Chapman meditated each day at the studio while she was recording this album. It shows. It calms and centers me within 30 seconds. Highly recommended

3 out of 5 stars Good voice, but the venerable texts deserve better pronunciation.......2006-11-12

Beth Chapman has a beautiful voice which is well suited to the hymns she chose for this record, but her pronunciation of Latin is only beginner's-level, and it shows that this isn't her usual genre of music. Several of the hymns contain pronunciation mistakes which will be off-putting to people who know these songs well; they all bear the sound of Latin as sung with a very American accent.

The singers on this recording could have benefited from some pronunciation coaching: classical singers need to learn to pronounce Latin well, but Chapman didn't seem to realize they needed it too.

5 out of 5 stars Spiritual oxygen........2006-10-17

Mother Teresa of Calcutta said, "Make something beautiful for God." Beth Chapman must have been listening when she produced this collection of hymns. Because of B.N.C.'s experience of personal heart-ache that preceded this recording, there's a touching dose of holy sobriety in her delivery. After listening to some snippets on-line, I first bought this for my Mom who is in her 70s. Since I finally bought another copy for myself a few weeks ago, it has dominated my car CD player. My 28 year old son, who doesn't know this pre-Vatican II repertoire, absolutely loves it. This is timeless, edifying stuff -- no artificial ingredients. Thank you, Beth. I'm so glad I found your Hymns project.

5 out of 5 stars Breathtaking renditions of sacred music.......2006-07-05

Chapman takes some of the Christendom's most beautiful music and lends a simple reverence to it that works wonderfully well. She's also written a very sweet new hymn to Mary. I buy virtually no music - my collection is already sufficient. But I only had to hear a bit of one song - Panis Angelicus - to get me onto iTunes for this album.

Every single song is perfectly lovely: quiet and rousing, simple and complex, altogether reverent.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Progressive Instrumental Masterpiece.......2007-03-05

Gordian Knot is a sort of prog supergroup, the brainchild of bassist Sean Malone, but including such progressive luminaries as Bill Bruford, Jim Matheos and fomer members of Cynic and Aghora. Epic, surreal, textural, innovative, and completely uncommercial in it's approach-any fan of exploratory boundary-pushing music should own this album.

Emergent is an instrumental album full of music that comes across as new-age one minute, jazz fusion the next, followed by heavy post-metal crescendos and meditative guitar flourishes. Very unusual, avant-garde and almost resembling a cinematic landscape at times, this is not a "shred" or show-off instrumental album, but a cohesive statement where all of it's parts are incorporated into a seamless sonic whole. Sure, there are some amazing guitar (and bass) solos, but they are folded almost casusally into the music. Fantastic and inspirational music. Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2006-08-22

A fresh breath of air in the stagnant instrumental rock scenario. Brilliant work, Sean Malone is a blessing for the genre.

4 out of 5 stars Good Instrumental that is highly recommended.......2005-12-30

The title says it all. I put this CD aside for the longest time, but after some replays, it really surprised me. Of course anything with Bruford is worth listening too, for the most part.

3 out of 5 stars IS EVERYONE HERE DEAF??????????.......2005-05-06

I'll make this short and sweet. Awesome musianship and arrangement, horrible production. It may well have been a 4 or 5 star effort if the mix didnt sound like absolute crap!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars I couldn't ask for anything more.......2005-03-12

The first review I read of this album was in a guitar player's magazine-I think it was "Guitar World", or something like that, but I knew it had to be good, since the reviewer gave it a high mark. I picked it up not long after and it quickly became one of my most listened-to discs. This album manages to fuse together so many different sounds and elements that you begin to wonder how they fit them all onto one disc. From the screaming dissonance that opens "Muttersprache" to the slow burn of "Fischer's Gambit" to the sensory-stretching noise of "grace" to the beautiful melodies of "Singing Deep Mountain" this takes the listener on a highly rewarding musical journey. Some of the pieces border on the metallic, with crunchy riffs and dizzying solos, but it seems like every track has some sort of break or change of pace in it to keep from becoming to monotonous. There are plenty of jazz elements interwoven into the framework of guitar-rock, and the drums are crisp and and have a "nearness" to them.
"Muttersprache" opens with a burst of heavy-metal riffing that is quickly peppered with jazzy undercurrents and alternatly accelerates through peaks and valleys of emotional impact. "Fischer's Gambit" conjures images of being in a smoke-filled jazz lounge as the musicians do their thing, creating a sultry, immersive atmosphere. "Grace" starts off sparsley, but slowly adds new layers of sound that build up into a wash of harmonious noise that approaches hypnotic qualities. However, my favorite track on this disc is "Singing Deep Mountain", an appropriately-named piece that combines soaring guitars and perfectly-placed pianos to create a stirring track that takes about two-thirds of its running time to build up to an astonishingly piercing guitar solo that leads into the track's outro, mellow passage that quickly decelerates the piece from the shrieking notes just moments before and leaves the listener gasping for air and wanting for more. This is a truly progressive album that combines the talents of several highly skilled players and melds it into an organic medley of disparate sounds that compliment each other perfectly. This record is truly unique - I can think of nothing to compare it to. If your musical tastes run off the beaten path, then this record will not disappoint you.

2 out of 5 stars GREAT GUITAR, TERRIBLE SINGING........2006-09-02

Rich Robinson may be a great guitar player (though i always thought Marc Ford better) but as a lead singer he sinks! His vocals are flat and so irritatinly weak that what could of been a great rock album grates on your nerves by mid way through. Great riffs, a little too much overkill (three minutes per track would of been preferable) abound, but by the end you get the feeling that with brother Chris on vocals this would had made a great Black Crowes album. Shame!

5 out of 5 stars Rich Opens A New Door.......2005-09-30

If you like the Black Crowes, you don't know what you're missing until you hear Rich's solo album 'Paper'. Complete with amazing guitar licks and a mellow sound, Rich brings a hint of delicate genius to the music scene that I haven't seen since Nick Drake. Rich mixes it up a bit, using mostly electric guitar on the first half and acoustic on the second half. His song writing is excellent and is poignantly accented by each and every note on the album.
Three tracks I really suggest a good listening to are: #2- Enemy, #3 Leave it Alone and #5- Forgiven Song.

4 out of 5 stars Familiar and Brilliant.......2005-07-31

So you were disappointed by Chris Robinson's solo albums? They seemed interesting, but not ... complete? Like Chris needed a band that understood him? Well friends I have the antidote and the cure and the acorn did not fall far from the tree...

From the first stuttering riffs of 'Yesterday I Saw You' on Rich Robinson's PAPER it's as clear who is the soul of the Black Crowes. As clear as the difference in the Mick Jagger and Keith Richards solo records.

What can you expect? Well the first three cuts are walls of swirling guitars; 'Yesterday I Saw You','Eneny' and 'Leave It Alone' picking up where the Crowes LIONS left off. 'Know Me' and it's slide and lower production value harken back earlier days sounding like a lost late era Zeppelin track. 'Forgiven Song' and it's slow funeral speed, pedal steel and fiddles play like Jerry Jeff Walker's Lost Gonzo Band doing the Stones 'Moonlight Mile.' 'Veil' is a cousin to the Crowes 'Evil Eye,' and 'When You Will' to 'Non Fiction.'

But with 'Places' Rich explores an evil feedback drenched overdriven riff unlike anything ever heard on his other band's records. Not Black Sabbath heavy, not CCR swampy, it's just a plodding and insistant groove that just drags you under with it. The mood is lightened by 'Begin' and it's pre-'Joker' Steve Miller sound with nice keyboards by Crowes mainstay Eddie Hawrsch. 'Falling Away' is a great slow acoustic ballad over which Rich lays some of his signature blues bending. The keyboard driven 'Baby' and 'Oh No' allow Rich some open tuning slide time. 'Answers' with a string quartet in the background and 'It's Over' are rhythym driven tracks,'Answers' being a bouncing rhythym and 'It's Over' following a turnaround waltz.

5 out of 5 stars Great Album.......2005-03-30

I picked up this album today and i cannot get enough of it. Rich does not have the strong vocal presence as his brother Chris but the guitar work is incredible. This album is worth the money and is one i will forever.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderfully different than the Crowes..........2005-03-22

I'm a huge fan of the Black Crowes. This is most certainly not the Crowes, and that's not at all a bad thing. Chris and Rich are complimentary (musically) and added to what we knew as the Black Crowes. Their hiatus may have been the best thing for the band. It certainly gave each of them the freedom to grow in the ways they felt constrained by their former band and this album really shows that growth on Rich's part, no, he does not have nearly the vocal presence as his brother, but give the man credit for exploring what he is capable of! He's done a wonderful job with this album, and I'd definately reccomend it to guitar lovers and anyone seeking contemporary music WORTH listening to... just don't expect the Crowes, or you'll be disappointed, it's a whole new show.

4 out of 5 stars going downhill.......2005-06-12

this is not a bad cd to buy. its still miles ahead of nashville country, and lifetime stand is an outstanding song. The biggest problem with this cd has to do with steel guitarist jimmy not being a part of cooder g on this cd. the result of this is that this cd has much more of a rock sound, this album lacks the country sound that previous albums had, on many tracks. the lyrics are still pretty tight. buy this cd but make sure you get shifting gears, live at billy bobs or golden light or the self title before you get this one, they are all superior 5-star efforts. sadly another texas country band is turning towards rock. for artists still playing texas country check out jason allen, cody widner, or front porch texas.

5 out of 5 stars Five more stars...........2005-02-12

Good reliable stuff from a band that hits it out of the park every time. For my money, the raw energy of Segundo (live at the Golden Light in Amarillo) makes it a better pick for someone who's thinking of getting their first Cooder Graw disk but if you like your alt-country like I do, any of them will do. Just another five star effort from Cooder Graw....

5 out of 5 stars Cooder Craw Has Come Full Circle.......2004-12-24

I've heard several of Cooder's previous CD's and they are all excellent...but this one tops them all. Country music? Well, it's much more than that! There's some of the best songwriting that this reviewer's heard in many a year. Sure, there's a few good ol' boy, get-down stompers, but take a listen to a tune like "Dirty and Sober" (for example). That's real gut wrenching, soul searching music!
In short...get this CD and find out that "Country Music" is more than what's being played on the radio these days. This is the REAL thing!

5 out of 5 stars Cooder Graw's "Wake Up" .......2004-11-02

Cooder Graw has been making music together for about 7 years, and I dare say that "Wake Up" has to be their finest collaboration yet. From the expertly executed drum licks to the oh-so sweet guitar riffs, this band has got their finger on the pulse when it comes to the smooth blend of country and rock. The lead singer, Matt Martindale, croons some of the most thoughtful, intricately woven lyrics written from his own pen. To put it simply, pick up a copy of Cooder Graw's "Wake Up" today and you'll never nod off to country music again...

5 out of 5 stars not a country fan per se, but..........2006-04-13

Sometimes one has just got to give things a chance.i had met him and wouldn't have thought him a songwriter really. Very self-effacing fellow really, but lots of fun. Then, during SXSW in austin, I heard him sing. The pure emotive quality of his voice caught me first. Then i heard the songs for what they were. Yes, he is quite a story teller- heck of a way with words actually.

After another trip to see him, I walked away hooked. i can't quite pull up what it is, but something about the words and he music just sticks with me. Maybe it's the poet in me that hears the one in him. I just know I can't seem to get certain phrases from this CD out of my head, so I play it over and over.
it will have to suffice too, 'cos I think the fellow can go somewhere with this. Take a listen, and be prepared to be swept up in it. It can haunt your dreams.

5 out of 5 stars love his whiney voice and lyrics.......2005-09-27

this cd has been a pleasure to listen to. my husband called mando a "dylan wannabe" but i've really enjoyed it.

5 out of 5 stars Hard to Pigeonhole.......2005-05-29

I was drawn tho this artist by the genre I perceived -- "alt country." I enjoy Lucinda Williams, Whiskeytown, the Gourds. Mando has all the deep emotions of a Lucinda Williams, but generally a much subtler way of expression. As such, the songs don't instantly bowl you over like Williams' "Metal Firecracker" but instead their understated warmth seeps in. I found myself humming these tunes the rest of the day after a few listens. There is a touch (just a touch!) of Lyle Lovett in his vocal style; he has a world-weary voice for such a young fellow. If I had to come up with some analogy to describe him for you, I'd say he is the male equivalent of Laura Cantrell - uncluttered musicality. 5 out of 5 stars Mando Saenz has a unique flair of poetic storytelling.......2005-05-25

Playing Time - 38:34 -- The key to a successful album of all-original singer/songwriter music is simply to have something worthwhile to say and to present it with fervent emotion and quality musicianship. Mando Saenz is building quite a following for his unique flair of poetic storytelling. Born in Mexico, this Army doctor's son moved a great deal as a child. The title cut, "Watertown," is a nostalgic story of going back to a place that the family lived with its seagulls and humid air. His dad's plan was to get to Texas when he figured out how, and they eventually did make it to Corpus Christi, TX. Despite earning an MBA at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Mando Saenz decided to follow his muse and to sing about such things as the "insolence of man" (Egg Song) and a heavy heart that "bleeds the soul" and "frees the mind" (Noble Kings). Fortunately, the CD's jacket includes lyrics so we can further ponder Mando's evocative messages and music that largely avoids typical antics and stereotypes.

Despite his eccentricity, Saenz's songs are very engaging and tastefully rendered. Guitars, bass, drums, fiddle, accordion, mandolin, steel, dobro and harmonica complement his emotional vocal delivery. Some songs are arranged with minimal instrumentation while others have a fuller sound provided by Tommy Detamore, Bobby Flores, Dan Dreeben, David Carroll, and Joel Guzman.

For the most part, Mando Saenz's songs are leisurely, soulful and spiritually-tinged. Upon first listen, my favorites were the more up-tempo tunes with more of a bluegrass beat like "Egg Song" and "Engine Roll." With subsequent listens, I found myself focusing even closer on the lyrics of Mando's slower songs like "Julia" and "Rusty Steeple." "Watertown" has a distinctive folksy feeling, and this helps it to build a good rapport with its audience. It's delightfully new Texas music that is exhilarating and authentic. I commend Mando Saenz for trading his MBA for a guitar, harmonica and music career. I wish him luck in a tough business, and I hope to see him on Austin City Limits soon. (Joe Ross, Roseburg OR.)

5 out of 5 stars Great documentation of a master musician's artistry.......2004-10-12

With expert musical intensity, Pat Flynn sings (in a cover of The Band's "Shape I'm In") that he's got nine lives although he's spent seven. We doubt that but totally agree that his first solo album release, "reQuest," is long overdue. Flynn's made a name for himself with many earlier adventurous pursuits, such as his sojourn with New Grass Revival in the 1980s. His latest inquiring act in search of musical challenge takes us into well-arranged country rock territory. His four originals (Sundown, Lila, In the Middle of the Night, All on a Rising Day) are all very radio-friendly tracks that will earn them plenty of airplay. "In the Middle of the Night" was a hit for New Grass Revival, and the latter song was co-written with Peter Rowan. Flynn sings with emotive voice, and he even entertains us with interesting renditions of folk faves "If I Had a Hammer" and "Michael Row the Boat Ashore." I fully support these great songs being resuscitated by the likes of Pat and friends. "Michael ..." is grounded with a mellow reggae beat.

Flynn provides some tasty acoustic guitar, mandolin and bouzouki on the project, although the real showcase of his exceptional talent doesn't really take the forefront until the last bluegrassy track, "Mother Lode." His instrumental collaborators include stellar musical luminaries Steve Bryant (bass), Rob Ickes (dobro), Bela Fleck (banjo), Stuart Duncan (fiddle, mandolin), Jim Hoke (accordion, harmonica), Kevin Lawson (keyboards), Russ Pahl (steel, electric guitar, banjo on one track), Dennis Wage (organ). The drumming and percussion are provided by Tom Harden or Kenny Malone. Six others, including John Cowan and Buddy Greene, sing vocal harmonies.

An experienced veteran and producer, Pat Flynn has an impressive resume. The influential music of New Grass Revival continues to be reissued today on remastered CDs. A five-time winner of Frets magazine's readers poll for "Best Acoustic Guitarist," Flynn is a member of their Gallery of the Greats. As a session guitarist, Pat's contributed to over 300 album projects, including 26 that have gone gold, platinum or won other big awards (like Randy Travis' "Rise and Shine," or Lee Anne Womack's "I Hope You Dance").

Released in May, 2004, "reQuest" is great documentation of a master musician's artistry. Let's hope we don't have to wait very long for a sequel. In the meantime, look for Pat on jamgrass, Americana and country stages with some of his first-rate picking pals. (Joe Ross, staff writer, Bluegrass Now)

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic.......2004-10-05

This CD shows the real talent of Pat. I bought the CD directly from him at a show in OKC. Popped it in the player and kept it there for days!! If you appreciated his songs with the New Grass Revival you'll love what's here. The CD features two which were penned during the NGR days "Lila" and "In the Middle fo the Night". Buy it and love it!!

5 out of 5 stars Nice country groove, esp. of the classic variety I like.......2005-05-25

Playing Time - 38:32 -- An older style of classic country grooves permeates this well-produced analog project that is a great introduction to Texan Craig Dillingham. He's a solid vocalist, a defining voice of his time who also has a nostalgic yearning for yesteryear. The twin fiddles of Joe Spivey and Hank Singer, as well as Steve Henson's pedal steel, establish a powerful musical mood for Craig's expressive messages. The rest of his elite country band include Joe Manuel (guitar, vocals), Glenn Worf (bass), and Chad Cromwell (drums).

As a child, Craig sang in a band with his two older sisters. As a teenager, he was mentored and supported by Ray Price, and one can hear the influence of The Cherokee Cowboy's pure, honky-tonk country in this music. After playing Texas clubs and the Louisiana Hayride, Craig found his way to Nashville where he's certainly demonstrated the talent to keep the stylistic music of Hank Williams and Ray Price alive. Dillingham also has an individualistic side that is influenced by western swing, pop and blues music. He sings from his heart, and the music is very moving and enjoyable.

With the exception of George Jones' 1956 hit "Just One More" and Jack Clement's "Not Exactly What I Had in Mind," Dillingham's songs are self-penned, some in collaboration with excellent songwriters like Sony Throckmorton or Hank Cochran. With varying tempos from waltzes to shuffles, he hits on common themes of rambling, heartache, drinking, and a longing for home. Listen to the song, "Magic in the Band," to discover their secrets to their succcess .... they clearly love what they do, and they always put their music first. They've got the country groove, especially of the variety that I like. (Joe Ross, Roseburg, OR.)

1 out of 5 stars What the hell is this?.......2007-02-17

What the hell is Allie Daniel...a man or a woman? From the picture and the name it's hard to tell. The name sounds like a girl but the picture looks like a boy. Putting all that aside, this album sounds awful. What is happening to country music these days...a bunch of people who can't sing a damn thing selling albums to make a fast buck. Get a life and get a real job...don't go suckering hard working rednecks (like me) out of their money.

    4 out of 5 stars a fine album.......2006-02-23

Well now I have a look at the cover and think to myself : Gee ! What's that? She looks like a teenager from the French TV program "Star Academy". But let's not be biased : I played the CD and : heavy sound, great voice in the tradition of Martina Mc Bride, Chalee Tennisson, etc. A look at the musicians around : the matchless Shannon Forest on the drums, Lisa Cochran for the background vocals, Jonathan Yudkin on the banjo and the fiddle (in addition to orchestrating the music of the greatest singers). She sometimes sounds like Jessica Andrews : a troubling similarity. Beautiful melodies ("No"), very good riffs ("The Next Big Thing"), nice ballads ("A Little at a Time"). A lively album, very pleasant, full of rhythm : in a word, a real achievement. We'll be waiting for the next album now, hoping for a little more personality, just something to distinguish her by, to give her a genuine identity.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best country voices in Texas.......2005-03-23

Ms Danielle has one of the best voices in the Lone Star State. The ballad Inexpressible is one of the best I have heard. Her ballads and upbeat songs are good country music.

5 out of 5 stars Heard her at my workplace.......2004-11-11

WOW !!!! is all I can say. If her album is as good as her performance here at work she will be a smash someday. Over the years our company brings in different talent once a month over our lunch hour. I don't know how they got her - she is the best we have ever had. If you love county don't miss this one.
