About the Artist
He is a musician whose career bears little resemblance to the rock-n-roll lifestyles of other artists. He belongs to that rare breed of artist who goes their own way. Not concerned with enhancing his own image, Carey focuses instead on keeping up with his own high standards. His enduring success including numerous hits on the American and German charts, guest appearances with top acts such as Rainbow, and many impressive film soundtracks, proves that he is on the right path.

Product Description
This is a comprehensive collection of Carey's biggest hits, along with alternate versions of some of his favorites and three previously unreleased songs, 'Run With The Lions', I Don't Want To Be In Love' & 'Man Camera'. Also included are demo versions of 'Heard It On The Radio', 'Cold War Kids', '20Days' & 'Dust'. 16 tracks. Standard jewel case. 2000 release.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Poor Sound Quality.......2004-11-16

I bought this cd a while ago to replace Some Tough City because the sound output on that cd was so low and muffled. Just the opposite on this cd. It makes your ears bleed. I like my music pretty loud, but with fidelity. None here, It's just plain screechingly loud and shrill. When I get headaches and my ears ring I know it's of poor sound quality. I can't even enjoy listening to it. Also, what's with the terrible cd cover.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty good cd.......2002-09-18

I bought this cd not to long ago and found it be a good cd. It has all the stuff from the 80's which was played on the air except for west coast summer nights. The material afterward is good too especially tramopline and 20 days.

5 out of 5 stars Definitely better than story so far.......2002-09-16

This cd has all the hits plus some other stuff and some new material. It is a notch above the story so far wich is still around so get this one instead or perhaps both.

4 out of 5 stars Good collection.......2002-09-16

This is a good collection of songs from tony carey. It has all of his U.S hits on it..I won't be home tonight, fine, fine day, first day of summer, and why me. It then continues on with other material from cd's not ever released in USA songs like Room with a view, trampoline, and then some new material which is prety good..i.e run with the lions and I dont wanna be in love. It has more variety than the story so far. I sure wish it had at least one track from pink world on it, but it does a good job of covering the songs that got a lotof air play in the U.S. ever so many years ago. Just think another retospective cold be made that could be as good as this if not even better from material that never got to the radio back in the 80's. Still if you are looking for some of his stuff that isn't out of print this cd is a good place to start

2 out of 5 stars He Said We Win Again, and All Is Lost, and The Fans Lose Out.......2002-09-02

This cd must have been a costly venture to put together, love the sound. Did I say I loved the sound. A hits cd for all Tony Carey fans, and darn it I am one of the biggest two. Blue Highway, now thats a rockin cd, get your hands on that you got a real party hopper. Another good one for partys is I Wont Be Home Tonight, really get it hoppin, two of the many fabulous cds that Tony Carey has put out. He is an artist in the field of music, can play every instrument out there, well it seems anyway. I bought retro because of the lineup of the first few songs, wow, knocked me off my feet, I wont be home tonight kicks in like a bronco, other good songs on disc too, but too many demos and the unreleased, well pardon me for saying Mr. Carey you should have left unreleased. Tony lives over in Spain somewhere now, and I doubt he had much to say about the album or whatever, put this this this and this on and whoever-you choose the rest. But I do honestly say that some of the songs really are kickers. So Tony if you put out another soon, give us a true to the heart Carey album like, Cold War Kids, great piece of work. I fell off the train on this one, because the tunes are jumbled and that reference to the old hogans heros show in man camera just knocked me over, "I Know Nothing, I See Nothin" . To the best of kinda people, which I am not one of, enjoy Tony Retrospective.
