HIM's Best Album.......2007-01-25

'Razorblade Romance' was the album that introduced me to HIM. It is bar none their best album. Song after song I cannot stop listening to this CD; it's intoxicating. Ville Vallo's lyric writing was at its best for this CD. My favourite song is 'Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart'. There is a cover of Chris Isaak's 'Wicked Game'. 'Razorblade Romance' is definitely an album every HIM fan has to own, and the album I would recommend to anyone who wants to be introduced to HIM.

This is the cd that first introduced me to HIM. Although that was before it came out in the US. With this cd you get a great blend of the Love Metal HIM is known for also with slower ballads. Join Me is a great song of love and questioning what you would do for it. In my opinion Razorblade Romance is a cd any HIM fan should have in there collection.

Hopeless Romantics, HIM is for you........2005-09-08

I am not a goth. I like myself. I love HIM. Why? Because his songs are about love and the depth of our hearts when we are in love, wanting love, missing the one we love, etc. Of course if you just casually glance over the songs lyrics then you'll miss the point of them. Case in point, the song "Join Me". Most will probably see this as some morbid song about suicide and how we want to die with people we love. however the song is about a couple, where one persona has AIDS. So in order for the couple to fulfill their love physically, the other person will have to metaphorically "die" hence the chorus line "Join me in death". I have to admit that it took me to see HIM live to understand that, but it goes to show not to take the lyrics at face value.

For all you hopeless romantics out there, HIM is for you. Every song is about love, and who doesn't want to be love?

this is an amazing album. this is actually my first HIM album (...) and i was impressed. the guitar work on the songs are awesome and the piano bits are beautiful they really suck u into the cd. of course, if all u care about in music is lyrics, than u might end up disappointed like some of the idiots who reviewed early altho i do admit some of the lyrics can be quite ridiculous. "Join me in death"? yeah, you get the point. but besides that, awesome cd

A truly pathetic CD. The only good song was "Right Here In My Arms". Of course, you might like all of it if you're a suicidal goth, but.. it's not for those who enjoy any part of life or who even tend to avoid stupid lyrics like, "My sweet 666!" and "Join me in death!" Come ON.

One of the few perfect albums........2007-03-18

This album is an essential one, but it also is a decisive one. If you are someone who had been eyeing HIM shyly, this is the album that will decide whether you like the band or despise it. The definitive HIM/romantic gothic rock album is this one right here.

I will cut to the chase. The lyrics are entirely amazing, dealing with Love and Death, but intertwines the concepts and uses them as if they were always served side-by-side or were accomplices or were interchangeable. The atmosphere of the album never wavers and always verges on tragedy, sometimes avoiding it narrowly to switch to despair. Valo's vocals is at their top form; you can't help but think he is barely holding on, and will go to cry in a bathroom somewhere after the recording is done. The solos are incredible, and some of them, such as the one in "Right Here In My Arms" make you wonder if that's a guitar or somehow-plugged vines. The fat guitar sound aids this album. It has a couple of nice ballads, such as "Heaven Tonight", the classic "Gone With the Sin" and "Resurrection"; atmospheric pieces such as "Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart", "I Love You", "Razorblade Kiss", "Right Here In My Arms"; custom designed for yer needs.

There's only a downside, and it is in THIS particular version of the album. The version that starts with "I Love You (Prelude to Tragedy)" instead of a remixed "Your Sweet Six Six Six" is better, because the remixed Chris Isaac cover "Wicked Game" disturbs the atmosphere of the album greatly, and launches into a bar song amidst the teary-eyed songs. I recommend you to acquire the aforementioned version instead of that, simply because it is a perfect album. No loose ends, no disturbances, nothing. Just great flow of music that will keep you hooked. Razorblade Romance is a classic.

This personally to me is HIMs' best album ever. The pacing/vocals/music. Everything is so right on this album.
I like all the HIM music, but I literally listen to this one everyday.

H.i.M Have Produced a Masterpiece.......2005-04-05

This band H.i.M, i have actually only just gotten into. I've heard about them for years now, mostly in Metal magazines, and never thought to check them out until now. I actually thought they were over-hyped, and like most over-hyped bands..I thought they wouldn't be able to live up to the hype surrounding them, and especially this Album "Razorblade Romance", when it came out. ..I was totally wrong. And now i know what all those Metal magazines were raving about..

This Album blew me away. Not one single song is "filler". Pretty much every song could be released as a single. It's that good. Songs like "I Love You (Prelude to Tragedy)", "Poison Girl", "Join Me In Death", "Right Here In My Arms", "Gone With The Sin", "Razorblade Kiss", "Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart", "Heaven Tonight"..I mean, i just realized i'm naming them all. This Album is just..classic really. For this genre at least. H.i.M have produced a masterpiece.

The songs, most of, if not all, do have lyrics that are pretty self-explanitory and have everything to do with Love. But that definitely shouldn't be an immediate turn-off to open-minded Metal/Rock fans. And you don't have to be "Goth" to like this. People over 40, who are into Led Zeppelin, could get something out of this. People who write-off a band just because of the lyrical content, really don't listen hard enough to the music being played. H.i.M are talented for what they do, and yeah, they can write very good, catchy, anthemic Love songs. I can just imagine them playing Live and having the entire crowd singing along..

In saying that they'd appeal to fans of any age, and to Led Zeppelin..i would also add that they'd appeal strongly to fans of Type O Negative. Although not as 'depressing' and 'dark humoured', there are alot of similarities in both bands music. H.i.M would probably also appeal to fans of other bands like The Cure, New Order, The Sisters of Mercy, Nine Inch Nails even.. ..And pretty much any hard rock/metal/80's rock bands.

If you enjoy this CD, i strongly recommend their other Albums too.

Best cd out by any band! I would give this CD 6 stars if I could. The best song on there, by far, is "Join Me". Number 1 is cool "Your Sweet Six Six Six". I would definetly get this album as soon as possible. The heartogram looks awesume to.

That's all I've been hearing for months from a friend. I'd ask, "What are you talking about?!" And he'd say, "This really cool Finnish rock band." Ok, sure... Then I found one of the songs, Join Me In Death, at a really cheap download site and I listened to it... And laughed... for about 15 seconds before realizing how great the song was. And now all I talk about is HIM, HIM, HIM... and my friend tells me to shut up because he already knows, so I'm telling you.

I did find this album here in America for $8.99, so I seriously wouldn't buy the import.

My favorites were Bury Me in Your Heart, Join Me in Death, the cover of Wicked Games, Poison Girl, and Your Sweet 666... just listen to one song and you'll only be talking about HIM, HIM, HIM! and... maybe you'll be talking about the cute lead singer Ville Valo... b/c you just have to respect a guy that can pull off wearing that much eye liner and still look tough... but either way, you'll be a fan.

This cd is brilliant, as is all of HIM's cds, bu thte bonus track is somehting new, and very difficult to find on the other cds, including singles. I recommend this one as opposed to the others as this one includes the bands favorite songs as well.

Great CD and the best band ever.......2005-01-08

The first CD i got of HIM was Razorblade Romance and because i listend to that CD i bought all the HIM CDs i could get my hands on. I got turned on to HIM watching a music video by accident on yahoo launch and i liked it but i wansent into it much. Then later that night i watched Viva la Bam for the first time because i was waiting for jackass to be on then i herd even more music by HIM. So the next day i went straight to the CD store and bought the CD Razorblade Romance.

For a little over a year now I have been hearing many good things about the group known as H.I.M. After listening to Razorblade Romance a couple of times I can agree upon the praise. H.I.M., which stands for His Infernal Majesty have referred to their music as 'Lovemetal'. This acclaim is duly given as I am enjoying this CD immensely. New bands tend to grow on me after a few listens. This was not to be the case with this while this one took no time at all. I feel the music of H.I.M. owes more to the likes of Billy Idol and Depeche Mode than to some of the heavy metal bands that might have led to their forming.

The disk starts off with the rousing "Your Sweet 666". It's a catchy number that brings you quickly into the world of H.I.M. "Poison Girl" and then "Join Me (In Death)" which is a personal favorite of mine follow it. "Join Me" also has a very stylish video which can be viewed at www.Launch.com so that is a recommendation of mine. A number that surprised me most was the cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game". I got a kick out of this one since I love the tune already. Hearing it from a little more metal side was interesting.

There are some slow numbers such as "Gone With The Sin" and "Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart". The number "I Love You Prelude To Tragedy" to me combined Billy Idol and Peter Steele vocals which made it for an interesting tune.

Numbers that did not intrigue me all that much were "Heaven Tonight" and "One Last Time". They are decent numbers, but just did not do it for me. I find the production on this CD excellent, and every song is accessible enough to merit a few listens. This review is of the import release that includes a couple of bonus tracks. Ville Vallo is a presence that draws the audience into his world of somber lovelorn laden tunes. Joining Ville in the group is Burton, Gas, Linde and Mille on guitars, bass and drums.

The group has recently announced some New York tour dates so I will be trying to attend in order to bring the details to you readers. Also I wanted to bring up that this group is very popular among female fans so guys might want to look into it.

Just another example of a record lable trying to exploit the band before they lose them. From what I know, the band was not involved with this, and wonder why it came out, considering it somewhat hurt the sales of their greatest hits compliation, ''And Love Said No.'' Horrible cover art, and lazy packaging, this is a joke. Your better off buying the albums seperatly, and for Amazon's price, your better off buying The Single Collection.

Only cool thing about this box is that it contains the original Finnish release of Razorblade Romance, which is something you don't see too often anymore. But other versions have up to 15 tracks, this one only has 11. Get the US version, the tracks may not be orgnized as well, but there's more of them.
