This Dave Edmunds-produced album took Austin's best-known band and introduced them to the world in 1986. The two big hits, Kim Wilson's own "Tuff Enuff" and Sam and Dave's "Wrap It Up," move the band in a new R&B-flavored direction. This album encompasses the many influences that make up the T-Birds: zydeco on "Tell Me," soul music on "Two Time My Lovin' "(with Los Lobos), and a blues tribute to their home base, "Down at Antone's." Fab T-Birds are Tuff Enuff.......2006-03-19

I originally bought the cd when it came out back in the eighties but lost it when my mustang got stolen. I have been looking for the cd ever since. If you like blues rock & roll you will love the thunderbirds tuff enuff. Excellent buy any time. Long live blues and rock & roll.

An Excellent Blues-Rock record, music for the working man.......2003-06-21

One of the best blues based rock albums ever made. Jimmie Vaughan's guitar matched with Kim Wilson's vocal and blues harp makes one hell of a cd, I own this one on vinyl as well.

An Excellent Bar Band - A Mediocre Recording.......2000-09-21

With the release of the single `Tuff Enuff' in 1986, the Fabulous Thunderbirds earned the public's attention. The song is a high energy bass-thumping R&B number with an unforgettable shimmering rhythm guitar - great Texas roadhouse blues. The album `Tuff Enuff' is a collection of blues, rock & roll, and R&B - excellent bar music. Unfortunately, in this case, the fervor of a live act (especially after two of three beers) doesn't translate well during the recording session. The Fabulous Thunderbirds are a legitimate blues band, but nothing here matches the vigor of the title song. Producer Dave Edmunds attempts to cover the band's shortcomings with "speed playing." `Amnesia,' `True Love,' `I Don't Care' and `Down At Antones' are played at what seems like 100 MPH. What's the purpose in playing 8 and 12-bar blues at breakneck speed? Fast may get the crowd on the dance floor in front of the band "live," but the muscle and exhilaration just isn't here.

A great Cd.......2000-07-07

I first listened to this CD when is was 17 years old and I was blown away. This is a good way to get introduced to the blues. The title track is rockin and a songs such as "Look at That, Look at That", "Wrap it Up", and Two Time My Loving, can stand up against any other songs to come out during the 80's. In an era where hair bands were everywhere this no nonsense band struck gold with this release. Some people know the T-Birds as the band with Stevie Ray Vaughns brother in it but they were much more than that. They are still together minus Jimmie but this is the one where everything clicked

Westside records sifts through the vaults of Johnny Vincent's Ace Records and come up with this classic. Of perhaps most interest to collectors are both the Jerry McCain numbers; She's Tough (later covered by the Fabulous T-Birds) and Steady a blues harp tour de force. And the sides by Sammy Myers (of late with Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets) including Sleeping in the Ground perhaps best known by Blind Faith. The real surprise are the truly obscure artists on this set, Al Collins and his Orchestra in particular are outstanding. Everyone (I think there are four now) of the Ace Records collections by Westside are fantastic and should be a part of every blues fans collection

Born Maureen Jackson in Gary, Indiana in 1950, Rebbie was taught clarinet and piano by her mother. It wasn't until 1976, after the Jackson 5 had left Motown and signed with CBS, that Rebbie began a professional After her brother Michael's success with the mega-selling Thriller, he was given the chance to write and produce. His first project was Rebbie's first single "Centipede," which hit number four R&B in fall 1984. The Centipede LP, released in October 1984, featured tracks produced by former Crusaders member Wayne Henderson. Her next album Reaction was issued October 1986 and included tracks produced by David "Pic" Conley and David Townsend of the group Surface, plus Rebbie's brother Tito Jackson. The title track single hit number 16 on the R&B charts in summer 1986. The follow-up was "You Send the Rain Away," a duet ballad with Cheap Trick lead singer Robin Zander that made it to number 50 R&B in late 1986. Another fine duet ballad, "Tonight I'm Yours" with Isaac Hayes, received substantial airplay as an album track but curiously was never released as a single. R U Tuff Enuff was the title of her third Columbia album, issued in February 1988, featuring one single ("Plaything") that reached the R&B Top Ten. Her popularity with devotees of Britain's rare groove scene prompted the release of The Rebbie Jackson Collection by Expansion in 1996. After a hiatus from show business in which she moved to Virginia, Rebbie signed with Michael Jackson's MJJ label in the late '90s. Her label debut Yours Faithfully was released in March 1998.

RU Tuff Enuff For Rebbie?.......2005-12-06

This is a strong set from Rebbie Jackson, the production was great, mid tempo R&B ('Perfect Combination','Read Between The Lines') and jazzy ballads,('This Love Is Forever' which is fantastic!, 'Sweetest Dreams')with great background vocals from the late Gwen Guthrie, 'Plaything' the first single got some good airplay, 'Distant Conversation' contains a sample of 'Reaction', 'Friendship Song' is a nice duet ballad with Bernard Jackson(lead singer of the 80's group Surface).
RU TUFF ENUFF was Rebbie's third lp and with better promotion it should've sold more.
