4 out of 5 stars A weird proposition.......2007-07-25

How do you choose tracks for a 'best-of' compilation for a band that never had more than a handful of proper singles? So many of TKK's album tracks sound like singles anyway, it's hard to pick which ones should go on a compilation. Not to mention that the band has such a dual personality (B-movie Satanism and electro-disco).

Since this is a single-disc set, stuff is left off of it. Strangely, some of the actual singles are missing here, most noticeably "Blue Buddha". There's also no "Sexplosion!" either. But there are interesting choices, like the lead-off track "13 Above the Night". There are three tracks from "Reincarnation of Luna", but only one from "Crime For All Seasons"--surely they could have put on "Blue Buddha" instead of one of the "Luna" tracks?

On the plus side, there are some excellent edit versions here that cut down on the runtime of the tracks and make them tighter. The biggest difference is in "Cuz It's Hot", which originally ran for over ten minutes. "Devil Bunnies" runs better too, a nice clean edit.

I also notice a problem with "Kooler Than Jesus" on this comp. It's as if there was a compression problem, the beats sound slightly erratic to me, like a record on a turntable that's not exactly centered. Maybe that's just me, but I can't even listen to it. Finally, I dislike the artwork, which seems rushed through production.

5 out of 5 stars "Here, at the sign of the peacock, we find the Club C'est Sable...".......2006-11-03

I do not have this album but I have to point out to the below reviewer (who I mostly agree with) that the name of the album is Confessions of a KNIFE, not night. And, I recommend it as well, along with SEXPLOSION, my personal fav.

I have to give it 5 stars on TKK's merit alone because they are the crown jewel of sleaze-techno. No band out there can touch them. Lords of Acid is close, but not as funky. If you really want to embrace TKK, buy all the albums in cronological order and decide which of their phases touches you in the right places. You won't regret the ride...

4 out of 5 stars Cuz it's hot........2005-09-12

I agree with the reviewer who questioned the absence of Blue Buddha! 13 Above The Night is my favorite TKK album. I know that makes me sort of an oddball as Confession of a Night is probably more in line with what TKK sound like. I wish Final Blindess was included in this collection. It was my favorite song from 13 Above the night. Otherwise I have no complaints. This is a great collection. I'm glad to see 'Cuz it's Hot!!!

4 out of 5 stars The beAst of the Thrill Kill Kult?.......2005-03-09

I can imagine it was difficult to put this collection together, seeing that some of their albums are quite different from each other. But whether their songs are sexy, satanic, or just fun to dance to, alot of the good stuff is here. With a best of, you can really only complain about what's missing, though everything included here is at least good. So where is "X-communication", "Sexplosion", "Blue Buddha", and "Glamour Is A Rocky Road"? I know it may just be my opinion, but come on. Anyway, look at this disc as a sampling of the band, and then get the album that would then be most to your liking. "I See Good Spirits and I See Bad Spirits" is the most evil, "Confessions Of A Knife" is the most industrial sounding, "Sexplosion" is the sexiest (duh), "13 Above The Night" is a good mix, and "Hit and Run Holiday" is just fun. Whatever you do, join The Kult.

5 out of 5 stars The Best of My Life with The Thrill Kill Cult.......2004-12-05
