If you have Joe Satriani & Steve Vai albums in your collection you are not complete if you don't have this. He has a interesting choice of covers but is off the chain rock guitar.

Gary Hoey at his best as the title states--outstanding job by the man

That's what you might be saying. If your a fan of instrumental
guitar work like Joe Satriani this is must have! Gary's a great
guitarist. Not only that he's a better songwriter than most
instrumental guitarist. Gary's been putting out great
music since the late 80's. This is a great place to get a taste of
Gary's work. His style and songwriting go in many different
directions. From rock to blues to surfin'. Gary's great at putting
a good spin on a cover tune as well. Check out his renditions
of "Low Rider" and "Linus and Lucy". If you like this then check
out his newest release "Wake Up Call". It's one of his best!

One of the few unapologetic technical guitar wizards to come out of the '90's rock scene, Gary Hoey at first glance seemed to have more in common with Yngwie Malmsteen than Chet Atkins. His three Christmas albums, however--the best of which are distilled here--gave Hoey a chance to demonstrate his chops. Comprised entirely of holiday standards, this album shows Hoey can definitely play those Eddie Van Halen-style riffs, but he also explores surf, country, jazz, proto-metal, folk, pop and old-school rock & roll. "God Rest" opens with an acoustic classical motif before bursting into a thunderous metal riff worthy of Black Sabbath. --Bill Holdship

If you are looking for a non-traditional Christmas cd, this one might be for you. Each track is very memorable and the band is definitely putting out a cool vibe for the mostly traditional holiday songs. Guitar players might enjoy the arrangements with no vocals. I look forward to listening to this cd every Christmas and I listen to it more than once over the holiday season.

This is an awesome compilation of Gary Hoey's three Christmas releases. I highly recommend this set for the guitar fan out there. Gary has the feel and technique to make each track shine.
