HIGH WIRE LIVE.......2007-01-11
WILLIE PORTER AT HIS BEST, IN FRONT OF A LIVE AUDIENCE. A SUPERB GUITAR PLAYER AND SINGER.
Sneakin' Up on Everybody.......2006-01-18
I had gone to the theater to hear Eric Johnson. But first, there was some guy on stage named Willy Porter. "Never heard of him," I thought. And then I heard him perform "Breathe."
Now I own Mr. Porter's complete catalog. And, in a couple of weeks, I'll be privileged to hear him again.
A year ago Willy snuck up on me. Now he's sneakin' up on everybody.
Superb.......2005-07-30
This is simply a superb CD. Willy has it all, great voice, great talent on the guitar, great sound and mastery of the technology to achive great sound. Great tune writing. Great feeling. I saw him play last fall on the joint tour he did with Martin Barre. The two of them joined forces to support each others solo album efforts- AND they were supported by Doanne Perry, Andy Giddings and Johnathan Nooyce of Jethro Tull. I saw the show in a cosy comfortable small venue here in Madison Wi. I was floored. The musicianship and chemistry that eminated from that stage was huge. This CD only has one cut that has any other players "You Stay Here" in which Martin Barre compliments Willy with own huge talent. I love this Cd so much I have played it for all my friends and every one of them loved it regardless of their musical tastes. It trancends it all. Just superb. Now all I wish for is for a live CD to be released of the 2004 Willy Porter / Martin Barre tour. That would be a great follow up to this most excellent CD. Just buy it.
Porter live, in top notch form! .......2005-03-18
Recorded in England and America between December 2001 and June 2003, every track on "High Wire Live" is an intimate selection between man, guitar, and audience. Willy Porter carries on a tradition that reminds one of the late Dave "Snaker" Ray in a contemporary rock format. His rhythm guitar uses accelerating minor chords and string-slapping punctuation while he sings the observant melodies. Influences of Indian ragas can be heard selectively in his rhythm work, carrying on E-string drones between chorus breaks. Guitarist Martin Barre of Jethro Tull fame guests in as the only other musician on the record, providing an interesting counterpoint response on both acoustic and electric guitars. Porter is finally gaining some much-deserved respect as a solo musician, carrying his audiences with his unique blend of classical, jazz and rock influences. A Brand New Fan Who Is Blown Away By Willy!.......2005-01-22
Well, I just saw Willy Porter open for Eric Johnson last night in Anaheim. I saw a guy get up onstage with an acoustic guitar, and since I didn't want to lose my spot near the stage, I figured I'd stay and watch. I don't usually watch the opening act. All I can say is THANK GOD I STAYED!! Willy Porter blew us all away with some of the most Phenominal Musicianship anyone there had ever seen. It's like the guy is Genetically Programmed to do what he does. Music just comes pouring out of the guy. And, he just may be the greatest acoustic guitar player you have ever seen. On top of that, he's very funny and a nice guy, too. I have no idea how I would catagorize his music, except to say that it is of Extremely High Caliber, and Extremely Inventive. I've run out of words, and I only just heard of Willy Porter yesterday. I haven't bought the CDs yet, but I'm going to when I finish writing this. I suggest you do the same, because Willy Porter is Phenominal.

Album Description
When Aftertaste was first formed in the summer of '96, they never anticipated their high-energy brand of happy punk rock music would ever leave their living room, much less come this far. After all, they were just three bored buddies looking for a fun way to kill time. But now, after two hilariously awful tapes ("Aftertaste" & "Revenge of the Nerds"), three lucky compilations ("Jet Set 1 & 2" & "Nuwanda's Trip"), and an underachieving little E.P. called "Circus Monkeys," it has come to this: "The Threat of Gravity." Encompassing 16 of their very best, The Threat of Gravity has been described as a culmination of energetic pop-edged punk, and includes a varied blend of song styles, each one distinctly Aftertaste, yet original in it's presentation. From their energetic songs "Geek Out" and "Better You" to the more embellishing climatic tunes of "Precious," their staple encore song at live shows, each song has a flare for exhibiting the camaraderie Aftertaste shares as a band. Ideally, they hope after many years (and, wishfully, many more records), that they can reflect back and say that these are sixteen of the worst songs they have ever written. But, for now, they are content to let them encapsulate where they have been, hint at where they are heading, and stand for what they are: sixteen of their very best - a makeshift anthology further proving that the whole can be greater than the sum of its parts. They would like to extend their deepest thanks and gratitude to everyone who has supported them over the last five years, from the hard-core Tastebuds to the well-wishing bystanders; you have made it all ridiculously fun and worthwhile. A famous frog once said, "Life is like a movie, write your own ending..." Well, as long as you keep listening, we'll keep making it up as we go along, for they are very glad and truly grateful that you enjoy their raucous brand of music.

sun and cold beer.......2004-03-12
just finished listening to threat of gravity about same time i finished a cold 6 pack and am not sure which i enjoyed more (and i ALWAYS enjoy my cold beer)consistent music and the lyrics have to be heard....ill open a few more sixes to this cd and am sure ill find more hidden treasures..maybe play from last track to first to see from different angles of alcohol....(will probably listen to sober as well)...when driving of course..buy this sit back and enjoy.
Great CD!!!.......2002-08-13
I originally heard one of this group's songs on the Jet Set CD from [URL] years ago. Circus Monkeys was the best song on the disk, but I lost it. I finally found the Riffage CD a couple weeks ago, found out the name of the group, and got this CD. I was not disappointed.
The songs on this CD range from good to great. There are usually a few tracks on any CD that really annoy me, but with this one I could listen to any of them. There are a few tracks that I don't think I'll listen to as often, but the others are pure gold.
This CD is a great value for the price and the amount of music you get alone. There is almost an hour of music, you are bound to find several favorites amoung the tracks.
"The Threat of Gravity" is a must have!
I wasn't disappointed........2002-08-08
This CD won't disappoint. I liked the songs in a range of "LOVED IT!" to "It was OK". Considering it's got 16 songs on the CD, that's an achievement. There wasn't that one track (or 8 tracks on some CDs) that really annoys you. The CD is definitely worth the price.
These guys rock!.......2002-04-04
Just writin' to let you know you won't be sorry with this CD and if you ever get to the Northwest and get a chance to see these guys play you MUST make it to the show. Three guys with enough sound to fill any venue and make it sound like 10. Enjoy the music and tell your friends!!!
Music worth listening to!.......2002-03-04
This CD is one song after another of GREAT MUSIC! There is something for everyone here. This is the sound you're looking for.
Aftertaste has come out strong with the release of "The Threat of Gravity" This music has lyrics people can connect with and a beat that keeps them going. Breaking up, living beyond your means, and childhood memories are all put to music that keeps you pumped up.
These guys are making themselves known. This CD is definitely worth checking out!

A Warm, Inviting Album.......2006-10-13
I really like this CD. It's a live recording, and it not only sounds intimate but also feels intimate. Noah Peterson's sax sounds so warm, so smooth...it just puts me right in the crowd. A better-sounding sax I haven't heard in a long time. I highly recommend this album.
