Boston Represents!.......2006-02-23
This Ed OG cd bangs from start to fininsh. The beats by Pete Rock and Diamond D are bananas. It is good to know that there are still some solid hip hop artist out who have real skills. They just do it as a art. You do not have to conform to Mtv or
BET. Thanks to Pete Rock and Ed OG for putting together a classic masterpiece.
Tries Hard To Be A Classic.......2005-08-08
I Heard this from one of my friends, and i just had to have it. Coming straight from Boston, this rapper puts in a very good effort, and for as short as this album is, its surprisingly good. The Album features production from none other then Pete Rock. You can tell he has a very good style from the opening track "Boston".
1. Boston - 5/5 - Very good production, and good lyrics.
2. Just Call My Name - 2/5 - this is one the weakest song on the whole album. not very good production, but Edo.G Knows how to spit.
3. Voices - 5/5 - I Love songs like this. Very good production again. Hook is strong.
4. School Em' - 2/5 - You can tell this song is Inspired by DJ Premier. sounds very similiar to one of the many classic joints produced by DJ Premier, but it honestly cant touch them.
5. Streets Is Callin' - 1/5 - This is not my cup of tea, aweful beat, but good lyrics as usual.
6. Pay The Price - 4/5 - Catchy Tune, followed by great lyrics and great guest appearance.
7. Wishing - 4/5 - Very similar to Twista's "Hope" A song about a better life.
8. Right Now - 5/5 - Probebly another DJ Premier inspired track. Very good production this time though, and probebly the best song on the album.
9. Stop Dat - 4/5 - Again, seems inspired by DJ Premier. Decent beat, and lyrical fire as we already expect.
10. Revolution - 3/5 - Listenable, but not the most enjoyable. Good lyrics like always.
Overall: 35/50
Average: 3.5/5
A very Good effort, with a little work im sure Edo.G Can put out a classic.
Decent Hip-Hop Album.......2005-07-27
I remembered this album as I was prepping my Guru review. On My Own Worst Enemy is Ed O G's sixth studio album. The album is a straight up hardcore hip-hop album, no fluff, no strong attempts to be radio friendly. The album has instant street credibility and EDO.G doesn't shy away from the fact that he thinks that he is still on top of his game. As for EDO.G himself, he sounds pretty angry on some of the tracks, perhaps that is just his lyrical style. The production on the album is tight, the beats are crazy. Seven of the ten tracks on the album were produced by Pete Rock. Artists featured on the album include Diamon D, Jaysaun, Masta Ace, and Krumb Snatcha. The album is being released by Fat Beats Records.
ED & Pete.......2005-06-12
I was very pleased to hear that Edo g had put out an album within recent times. Although the album is short (10 songs) each track is thorough. Even the tracks feat. artists are tight work. Ed's lyrics are nice and Pete Rock's beats sound really good as well. This cd is real Hip Hop. It is refreshing to hear something like this.
The most slept-on emcee ever.......2005-03-07
Considered to be one of the most slept-on emcees of our era (and even the "Golden Era"), EdO.G makes a classic attempt in his 6th studio album, My Own Worst Enemy. The album, instead of filling up disk space, goes the route of quality as EdO.G enlists the talent of Pete Rock for most of the beats on this 10-track banger. Other soundscapes come from DJ Revolution, DJ Supreme One, and D.I.T.C. beatsmith Diamond D, with vocalism from Jaysaun, Masta Ace, and Krumb Snatcha. EdO.G himself says that this "one will remind us of the days when hip-hop was in its prime." Yes, yes ya'll, to the beat ya'll. Newjack education or purist nostalgia on this here Fatbeats Records' release.

Outstanding!!.......2006-03-27
Picked up this CD after hearing Go Betty Go on the Burnout video game soundtrack, and I can't stop listening to it. Only problem is there are only 5 songs in the disk! The next album is good too.
They Rock out loud!.......2005-08-18
When I was at warped tour, I walked by them performing. They weren't on the "shira girl" stage where I thought almost all girl bands played. I was intrigued. I started to watch them, and was sucked into their great rhythms, riff's, and vocals. I had to buy this EP. IT WAS AWESOME! I listen to it every day now. I love the blend of Pop and Punk they have. It's punk enough that they can play at warped tour, but pop enough that everyone can enjoy their infectious, i-wanna-turn-this-up-all-of-the-way-and-dance-like-a-crazy-person, sound. Can't wait for their album, NOTHING'S MORE to come out.
I highly reccomend this album. It's worth the 7 dollars...or even more!
Short and to the Point: All-Girl Rockers Rock!.......2004-09-27
I found out about the all-girl band Go Betty Go through my 14 yr old daughter, and just loved what I heard. This is the initial EP release of the band.
"Worst Enemy" (5 tracks, 16 min.) start off with a charging "You're Your Worst Enemy", and doesn't let up up from there. There will inevitably be comparisons to its SoCal neighbors The Donnas, but for what it's worth the quality of this EP is miles ahead of the Donnas' first album. The best songs are "Son Mis Locuras" (sung partially in Spanish), and the closer "C'mon" (not to be confused with the Von Bondies' "C'mon C'mon"), a perfect ending to 16 min. of all out rock-and-fun. (Incidentally, "C'mon" also appears on the 2004 Vans Warped 2CD compilation). "Worst Enemy" is highly recommended!
go betty go is freaking amazing... and so is this ep..........2004-07-25
my friend saw them, and told me to see them, so i saw them, and they put on an amazing show that just gets everyone into it, and thier cd does too... it is worth every penny... hell its worth more than they sell it for. this cd is now one of my top favorite cds in my collection. i just saw them at warped tour and they are coming here again next week and im gonna see them again. but i love this ep and i think if u are looking at this then u should buy it. i think my favorite song is "it's too bad" but they are all good and i think that u will love this ep if u get it. so do ur self a favor and get it...
Great Grrl Rock.......2004-06-22
Go Betty Go is an awesome all girl group. They rock both lyrically and musically. As a chick, I find it empowering to see that girls know how to rock the guitar, drums and microphone too. The lyrics are self righteous, empowering, and just plain fun. The group just got a record deal, so go buy this so you can brag to your friends about how you discovered them before everyone else!

WOW you can't find a better single.......2002-03-16
I first heard this song on the radio when it first came out my jaw dropped, wow - it was the song I had been waiting all my life to hear. A powerfull riff combined with lyrics that everybody can relate to mad this the number one rock song of '99. After I heard this song I was hooked on Lit and I've been a huge fan ever since. You can listen to this over and over and it will never get old. If you like music- any type of music you will like this.
I listen to all Lit songs including this one.......2000-08-11
I think that in my circle area they don't play enough Lit. I like all of their songs, and this is my favorite song of the year 1999. I was waiting for "Miserable" to come out too and it did. They have really good guitar riffs in all of their songs and gets kind of medolic. It is really an enjoyable song to listen to.
THIS IS A LOVELY SONG.......2000-06-11
The song starts off a little hard and heavy at the beginning and in parts of the song but most of it is a melodic rock song. If you like this song but don't like Lit buy this cd single.
I can't get enough of this song.......2000-04-27
I don't know what it is about "My Own Worst Enemy."When its on the radio,I almost reck my car.If you ever see this Video on MTV,you'll laugh your behind off. I think we've all done the same thing these guys are singing about, getting drunk and saying things you regret the morning after.I love the line,"Kick the living Sh-- out of me."I think this band has a great future.I going to buy there album tommorro.
Something to Smile About.......2000-03-03
I think that My Own Worst Enemy is a great song. I love the tones of their voices throughout the whole song. Also, Miserable great track, the surprised look on everyone's face when they hear it for the first time. Very real. Sorry to say NYC radio stations don't play enough of them. Keep up the good work!

"...raw, punk-fueled, high-energy rock with great hooks and excellent musicianship...".......2006-03-25
"My Own Worst Enemy is a Boston trio that loathes pretension. There's no wandering experimentation on these tracks, no demanding political views. Just raw, punk-fueled, high-energy rock with great hooks and excellent musicianship. It feels basic and solid, wild and fun. The perfect music to shake off life's complications to and just flat-out enjoy...Susan Minichiello, who sings lead on most of these tracks, has a gritty Patti Smith edge to her voice...Not a single filler track on this CD. Very impressive work." (Re-posted from original review by Jennifer Layton, www.indie-music.com)
"No Guarantees" review by Joe Harrington, KAPITAL INK:.......2005-12-27
Best Boston debut in a long time--in many ways evokes the golden age of classic co-ed indie rock bands: Love Child, Yo La Tengo, Eric's Trip, etc--the boy sings a song, the girl sings the next one, and they always sing together. It's the pinnacle of rock band equality--but also codependency and this album makes love sound like one long drink of gin...partly thanks to Sue Minichiello's Jersey Queen vocals (one of the nicer things to happen to female vocalizing in the name o' rock since Denise James). Lack of bass player gives them a skeletal Sleater-Kinney clank. This album evokes a harsh 70's reality...mainly of my parents telling me to go play in the traffic while they did the "jungle boogie" on the couch. (Joe S. Harrington)
