It's often been said that the studio recordings of the horribly named Colorado roots-rock trio Big Head Todd and the Monsters fail to accurately capture the fluent stylistic shifts the band makes effortlessly in concert. That may be true, but it's hard to nitpick when the trade-off is the woodsy, well-crafted and smooth Americana showcased on their self-produced Riviera. Frontman Todd Park Mohr's honeyed voice falls somewhere between yearning and world weary, and when he gets harmonic assists, notably on standout tracks like the driving, poppy, soon-to-be-chestnut "Wishing Well," the results are quietly thrilling. The slow-cooking "Gary Indiana Blues" delivers just what you'd expect from a song with that title, while the melody within the pleading, propulsive album opener, "Julianna," is every bit as pretty as its protagonist, even if she's about to walk out the door on our man. Riviera isn't likely to bust open all kinds of new doors for the combo, but for their dedicated following--and anyone seeking so-honest-you-can-taste-it adult contemporary rock with shades of jazz and blues--you can't go wrong. --Kim Hughes

5 out of 5 stars BHTM RULES.......2007-01-31

This CD is wonderful!
To anyone interested in attending a Live Show but not sure who to see, I have been to plenty, and must admit that Big Head Todd and the Monsters (BHTM) is by far the BEST! The are awesome performers and they LOVE their fans! I have been to their past two live shows in Cleveland at the House of Blues, and had an experience of a life time both times. Partied hard, enjoyed great music, and even got to chat with the band, have pictures taken with them, and they were happy to autograph anything after the show! They are very down to earth, great guys..........its like hanging out with old friends!! Check them out:

4 out of 5 stars A Great Surprise!.......2004-01-14

I bought it used (for about $4) because I was in the mood to try something new and I've always liked Sister Sweetly. I was a little amprehensive at first because I've heard only average things about their work after Sister... I'm happy to report that I was very pleasantly surprised by this CD. There are several stand out tracks on the disc and still more that are very strong. This disc stands against Sister Sweetly song for song and if you are new to BHTM you would be happy starting off with either CD.

5 out of 5 stars Bustin' it-- Todd style.......2003-02-01

I've been following these guys since '93. I have every one of their albums, I'm that loyal. But I need to do something for the masses on this one, it is SO damned good. Do you want raw Telecaster guitar riffs? A voice that ranges from raspy blues to honeysweet folk? Lyrics driven by melody? And most importantly, an absolutely genius hook on almost every song? Todd writes, sings, and plays together as a package as good as anyone out there. His songs are pure energy, pure life, inspiration. This one will have you feeling good about everything, and especially the gift that is BHTM. Thanks guys.

4 out of 5 stars Yum, yum and one of the best of 2002.......2003-01-02

Big chords from a big-time guitar player make this album oh so tasty. Their blues are so rhythmic, you have to move your body. You can't help it on "Freedom Fighter." "Hysteria" is actually about watching television. "Again and Again" puts a twist on a woman wanting to leave the man: she can't. There's tension there until the chorus. You can feel her desire to leave and her inability to do so. Todd Park Mohr's guitar is just too good.

4 out of 5 stars It's a great piece of work..........2002-12-21

In a day wih bands trying to sound like each other, you still have bands that rise above it all with their own sound. To classify BHTM would be a hard thing to do. Blues, Rock, Granola-Rock, Country-Western Rock, Jam-Rock. To put it simply they are one of the best bands around right now. Riviera is a CD that harkens back to the "first" days of BHTM. They have a style and sound all their own, and it works. I like this album. While it's not their best, it is hands down one of the best albums of the year, in my humble opinion. If you get a chance to catch these guys live, it is highly recommended. It's one of the best concerts you may ever see.

5 out of 5 stars a musical time capsule.......2005-01-31

Recorded over the course of a month at the Riviera during June and July of 1971, this is a fascinating time capsule of that era, that Super Seventies where clothes looked more like costumes, and what was thought of as risque quite tame by today's standards.
Despite the rather shallow and tinny audio quality, Engelbert still sounds wonderful, and what is startling is his speaking voice; though I have all his currently available concert DVDs, hearing the spoken word without the visuals makes one aware of what a spectacular voice it is, speaking as well as singing.

There's the bit where Engelbert brings a girl from the audience on stage to sing to (this one is apparently wearing very short "hot pants"...a garment we ladies used to wear back in those days...usually with boots !), he does an imitation of Tom Jones singing "Delilah", and sings a lovely variety of songs, including many that I have only heard on this disc, like "My Prayer", "It's Impossible", the beautiful Rodgers and Hammerstein "You'll Never Walk Alone", and a number I remember as if it were yesterday on his short-lived but terrific ABC variety show in 1970, "My Wife the Dancer".

Backed by Laurie Holloway and his band, and the singing trio The Three Degrees, this is great showmanship, Las Vegas style, up there with the best of them, and will be of 5 star interest to Engelbert fans, and perhaps 4 stars for everyone else, because of the less than perfect sound. The foldout insert has a short Engelbert history for liner notes, and the total playing time is 45'59.

5 out of 5 stars An enlightening experience.......1999-01-15

I picked this recording up without any expectations. I was delightfully impressed with Englebert, who I already knew to be one of the biggest names in show business. He had a wonderful personal rapor with the audience, beginning the album by bringing an audience member on stage to serenade. His voice was full, masculine and dynamic,(not unlike my stomach) and he carried on a humorus banter with the audience throughout. I found "My wife the dancer" to be very entertaining, and his medley of hits is a great mix which shows Engy's range and talent. The recording gives the listener the audio image of truly being present, in the front row, that night. If you like the Vegas lounge singer type of music this is the best I've heard. Wayne Newton, eat your heart out!

All I can say is jesse powell is my favorite singer, and he def has not let me down with this CD. Collect the whole set.

4 out of 5 stars Strong & Amazing Singer.......2006-02-02

On his fourth CD, Mr.Powell contiunes to display his range as a singer and show his amazing talent on cover songs. Jesse is the strongest on his cover of Michael Jackson's & Debarge's, I Can't Help It & I Like It. Jesse also has a good range on the oringal ballads Keep On Loving, By The Way and Lady. I can't wait to hear his next album.

5 out of 5 stars JP Continues to deliver Great Music.......2004-06-10

Excellent CD. If you love Jesse Powell's music like I do, you will with any doubt feel this one. I love his vocals and passion on every song. "By the Way" is the most heart felt song of them all. It gives me chills when I hear Jesse spilling his heart to his LOVE. He kills on the remake of "I Like It" and "I Can't Help It". Great CD from begining to end!!! I wish he would get better promotions, because I am a long time and dedicated Jesse fan, but did not know the CD was out untill my partner surprised me with it one night.
Thanks, JP and I wish the world would stop sleeping on you and that beautiful voice.

5 out of 5 stars best classic cd from jesse.......2004-06-06

Jesse Powell is back with his best vocals on this album & he explains his talents on this album. Jesse delivers the goods & his voice is off the chain it should stay in you cd players with song's like "By The Way" the El Debarge classic "I Like It". Powell comes strong on club bangers like "Talkin' In Your Sleep" & "I Want You" he delivers with his powerful voice on "Come Back Home" & the Michael Jackson remake of "Can't Help It" & on "Keep On Loving" & "Ebony" which is my favorite song. Powell which written & produced this album & it's worth your $10.00. Jesse deserves to show off his powerful voice he needs to get on television & make some videos, the industry hold's Powell down like they did Twista before he made it big, but now it's Jesse's time to shine so good luck I got all your cd's now & you deserve the very best in this game.

I am A huge hip-hop fan and i HATE COMMERCIAL cRAP, I hate the horrible message it sends about disrecpecting our precious women. This CD Shows that you can make good music and send a great message. DEAE PSALMS is a Beautiful song I wish killah priest would have been on it.

4 out of 5 stars Great but could have been better.......2003-09-25

This is a great CD, but don't be fooled by the cameos it lists. Both RZA and Method Man only talk on skits...no rhyming from either of these MC's. Also, the track listing is somewhat different from the actual CD...for instance, LA the Darkman is on the song All We Got....which is one of my favorites by the way bc it tells a story about the group. If Killah Priest were still with them this album would have gotten 5 stars.

4 out of 5 stars hot!!!.......2002-09-17

sunz of man came nice with this one. solid lyrics and production. i was looking more for the rza to produce on this but thats aight. still a solid cd. they talk about stuff a lotta other rappers are afraid to talk about. like religion and life issues. tracks thats bangin to me are: ghettio, banksta'z, saviourz day, black or white, dear psalms, honey tree, time, all we got. but basically the whole cds tight. cameos on this one are method man, ghost, la the darkman, mc eiht, 12 o clock, rza, and some unknown kats. pick this one up, but keep in mind if you into that bling bling ish, i got hoes, my ... fly, and that other bush, you might not enjoy it. WU-TANG forever!!!!!!

1 out of 5 stars what in the world happened!.......2007-02-16

I WISH I WOULD OF CAME TO THIS PAGE AND READ ALL OF THE COMMENTS LEFT ON HERE BEFORE I WENT AND BOUGHT THIS GARBAGE, BECAUSE THIS ALBUM WAS STRAIGHT TRASH! NOTHING, AND I MEAN NOTHING, COMPARED TO HIS FIRST ALBUM!

1 out of 5 stars 1.5 stars .......2006-10-11

Sticky Fingaz was a dope MC in the 90's. Most of all the ONYX material is worth checkin out and as far as solo efforts, his first and Fredro's first were both excellent releases. This LP makes a great coaster for your studio. I was extremely let down by 85% of the material on this record. The beats were boring and average at best--The lyrical content I slept through. I just couldn't vibe w/it, for having so much respect and love for his work in the past for droppin ill tracks this was a huge let down.

3 out of 5 stars Worth a listen.......2004-11-06

With Sticky being one of my favorite emcees, due to his ability to keep you interested by what he's gonna say next, I expected alot from this album. Shut Em Down was a classic, and every Sticky verse on there was murder. Black Trash was a breath of fresh air, seeming to stand alone in a commercial world of garbage. It stands in my collection of favorite all time concept albums, alongside Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Sgt Pepper by the Beatles, and Deltron 3030 by Del and Dan the Automator. Decade, however, falls into that heap of garbage called commercial rap music. Choruses with no meaning, no inspiring verses, and Sticky just not getting nasty like he usually does.
  • There are some bright spots on the album, notably the intro where Sticky shows his love for Jam Master Jay, I Love Da Streets feat Omar Epps and a Dre-esque beat with smooth lyrics, Bad Guy, a smooth song featuring a singer who sounds like Dave Hollister, I Don't Know feat Fredro Starr, a unique song with a children's vocal sample, ala Get Out by Busta Rhymes, Just Like Us, a great beat with dope verses by Sticky, if only not for the chorus. The last track is hands-down the best, with some dancehall-style rap beat that works to perfection. Reminds me of Ghetto Starz with Mr Cheeks from Shut Em Down. Basically, skip songs 3-5, and 8-13 if (a) you want to retain respect for an ill emcee (b) you want to hear a good Sticky Fingaz with 8 tracks. If these songs (1-2, 6-7, 14-17) were released as an EP, this CD would be classic.

    1 out of 5 stars garbage.......2004-03-30

blacktrash was dope as hell and i was waiting forever for this album. of course, it sucks. I dunno what sticky was thinking, but he shoulda kept the same beats as the first instead of going the club-commercial-ass hip hop crap beats that are playing on the radio. w/e, dissapointment. check kirk jones, that ones dope. leave this where it belongs, in its original packaging box, taped and sealed..

4 out of 5 stars Dissapointing compared to debut.......2004-03-20

    3 out of 5 stars Mo' Thuggstress.......2004-12-08

I think the only person who is keeping the Mo Thugs Family
alive is Felecia Lindsey-Howse. Felecia Brings the vibe to
all of the songs she is featured on. She should of made
"Do Your Thang" Into a music video Like thay did "All Life Long".
She also brings the vibe to - The Movement, Can U Dig It, and
Who You Gonna Run Too. But anyways; without Felecia Mo' Thugs
wouldn't have made it to where they are now.

Here are all of the songs she appears on - Mo Thugs Intro, Mighty Mighty Warriors, All Good, Ghetto Cowboy, Ride With A Playa, Otherside, Armageddon, Its Too Late, This Ain't Living,
2 The Playaz, If I Can Go Back, Hey Young World, Its Your World,
Get Up and Get It, Midwest Invasion, Last Dayz, The Movement, Do Your Thang, All Life Long, Can U Dig It, Who You Gonna Run Too.

Give it Up To Dayzie Bone!!!!!!

    1 out of 5 stars Boring Cd.......2004-05-01

Man what happened to Mo Thugs. All I gotta say is this cd is pretty lame like some reviewers said. And to the others that gave this cd over 1 star u must have been smokin crack when u were listening to this cd. There are only 3 decent tracks on this album. But if you like Bone its worth a listen. I'd download it not buy it.

1 out of 5 stars Bone thugs are dead.......2004-04-10

First I'd like to mention that the CD has some kind of copy protection that will only allow you to play it with windows media player on a computer. So if you use your computer to listen to your music and don't use Windows Media player, you cannot play this CD.

Second, it doesn't sound anything like classic bone thugs/mo thugs. Noisy music that sounds like it was recorded with a $15 microphone. Don't expect the classic smooth sounding Bone Thugs in this CD, it's more like a mix of NAS and Twista (if you could imagine?) with the muffled sound you would find on the latest Metallica CD.

Play an instrumental of the song "Smokin" by Nas. Then your treble up, all the way up.. turn your bass down as far as you can. Put on the song "Twista - Mob Ni**az Don't Die" while playing the song "Smokin". This is what the whole CD sounds like.

There are a few decent tracks, but none are good enough to justify a purchase. I bought the CD for $6 and could take it back if I would.

They're not the same group any more.

One plus, the CD includes a music video of one of the better songs.

5 out of 5 stars IF you don't like this.......2006-07-07

Then listen to something else. I read some of these reviews and wonder how many fans ICP actually has. You write one album that doesn't preach evil (not that any of their other albums did) and the whole world turns on you. This is a great album. Hell's Pit is better, in my opinion, because I think Psychopathic is getting better with age, but it is still great. Better than the other garbage you could listen to.

    1 out of 5 stars Totally unbelievable............2006-02-03

This is the single biggest piece of crap ever put onto a cd. The sixth joker's card was suppossed to be the single biggest musical event in the life of a juggalo, and ICP let them down with this crap. Their first mistake was getting rid of Mike E. Clark and getting this idiot named Mike P. All of the beats are so whack, and ICP doesn't even rap, they try to sing on this album. Oh well, thats why ICP doesn't sell half of what they use to and can't even get signed to a major label anymore, so they are getting what they deserve. I'm ashamed that I even use to be a juggalo, and believe me, only the brainwashed juggasheep will like this crap, so no matter what they say, don't buy this!!

4 out of 5 stars Not exactly what I expected..........2005-10-10

Now I'm a hella down juggalo, but in my opinion this album was a huge change in ICP's style, and maybe not for the better. Quite honestly, I was expecting more out of the 6th joker's card, since almost all the others were instant classics. I give this CD a 4 out of 5 simply because it's not what I call ICP. ICP was originally good ghetto music for ghetto folks such as myself. Now all they rap about is how much everybody hates em and how ultimately powerful they have become. I'm not trying to be a hater, I just miss the old school ICP flows, before the rock influence. I mean, I didn't start listening to ICP because they made rock about God. I started listening to ICP because they made dark raps about killing rednecks and representing their hood! I don't think ICP will ever be the same again...

    5 out of 5 stars Don't Diss it Unless U Understand It.......2005-10-09

It started like this....i had heard of icp from buddies but never was that interested. I heard them all talking about this song by the group and reciting the lyrics. It sounded hella funny so i asked, man could u burn me one of their CDs.
The next day, he brought to school a copy of the Amazing Jeckel Bros and i brought it home with me and listened to it all that weekend nonstop until i had memorized every beat and every lyric on the thing. It was like a religion to me. I studied it and analyzed them. When i came to school on monday, i told the kid how much i liked it. He said that you should buy a copy to support them. I went on amazon and ordered a copy of that CD and then Bizaar. I collected everything. Then Wraith came out.
I got home with the cd in my hands. I had been reading everything about this online. I sat down and listened to all one hour and five minutes of it. I had already heard one song, Blam!! and the rest were new. I said to myself when i was done with the thing, "What a strange CD!" The next day i listened to it again and it started to make sense. It was the greatest thing ever. I watched the Seminar thats included as a bonus DVD. I loved every thing on this. I read some of the other reviews and some say this is whack. Those are the people that dont understand the meaning of this. The are explaining everything, you idiots. They arent just out there for the money, this is for the true fans.

This CD had such great songs that really help you understand who iCP is. Each song has a great meaning and for that subject, a great beat with good lyrics.

    1. Walk into the Light (8/10) --This song is the intro and a whole nother song. It's a great lead-in. After about a minute and a half, the intro stops and the song starts. It's a rock and roll song with rap in it. Shaggy shines really bright on this one. It explains everything they've been talking about in their last albums since Bassment Cuts.

    2. Welcome to the Show (9/10) --The beat is exceptional. It's the happiest song of the album. It's very funny and the group does great arranging the lyrics. This explains all about the dark carnival is going to be like when u die.

    3. Get Ya Wicked On (10/10) --Even though this is a happy album, they still show that they are the most wicked in this song. It is very funny. It resembles an older song from Bizaar called Whut. Shaggy is hogging the mic but thats alright. Even though its very short it's a great song to open the album with.

    4. Murder Rap (8/10) -- It starts right out of track 3 and goes from there. It has the same kinda feel as Get ya Wicked On. The reasaon it isnt 10/10 is because the lyrics on shaggy's part werent that great and the chorus was kinda weak. It still is a classic song, but i have to say, they got a little lazy with it.

    5. Birthday B*t*hes (10/10) -- This is an Icp song that has a plot. Shaggy is a birthday clown that doesnt want to work. He is hilarious and this is one of the best rhyming songs ever. The chorus is hella catchy. it end with Violent J saying It Ain't Mine Mothafaku! It's short but it's definitely worthwile

    6. Blam!! (10/10) --ICP goes completely Heavy Metal on this song. It's still a great song and one of their best but its a lot different. The plot is that Violent J gets a magic lamp and his genie gives him everything he wants. It has funny. This is the song that shows ICP isnt all about money

    7. It Rains DiamondS (10/10) --ICP hides a track in this song. After It Rains Diamonds is over, 2 minutes into the track, another song starts called B*tch Slappas (featuring Blaze Ya Dead Homie) It rains diamonds is an okay song that is metal and then B*Tch Slappas is a hilarious song with a tight old school beat. The track is worth a mil

    8. The Staleness (7/10) -- This track was just alittle lame in the beginning. Some queer was doing the voices with Shaggy. I liked it by the end but it was dumb at Shaggy's part. U can tell in the track that shaggy wasnt even feelin it so its all good. Violent J was a great rapper in this song. He tells a tale of when he almost escaped from an asylum.

    9. Hell's Forecast (10/10) --In the midst of all this happy, funny and wicked sh*t comes a forecast of what Hell's Pit is going to be like. J does a great job to portray the depths of Hell and the Wickedness.

    10. Juggalo Homies (7/10) -- This is featuring Twiztid & ABK. It's a good song, but the lyrics drift off at Twiztid's part. Juggalo Homies represents that all ICps homeys will be up in Shangrila chillin.

    11. Ain't Yo Bidness (10/10) -- This is my favorite song off the whole album. It shows the ICP that everyone knows in just the way u'd think. "It ain't yo bidness how we act. Ain't yo bidness, gonna get slapped. Ain't yo concern what we do, unless u want ur face slapped too" It contains another bonus track called Soopa Villains. It's a tight track with Esham

    12. We Belong (10/10) --Instant classic. This song is all about the way ICP is. They don't belong anywhere but the carnival.

    13. Cotton Candy & Popsicles (5/10) --Nothing great but it's okay i guess. Zug ISland is featured and they are great here but it's still not a great beat. Violent J is good and so is J, there's just something bad about it. If u have heard it u know what i mean.

    14. Crossing the Bridge (10/10) --Another classic and the second most meaningful song. It's all about how they have never had a normal life. It's a great song because its like nothing they've ever done. It's a rock ballad and its hella hard

    15. Ravens Mirror (9/10) -- Great song. Shaggy is the sun of this sh*t. It has an okay chorus, great beat and funny a*s lyrics.

    16. The Wraith (9/10) --Good song. This represents what death is. Not in a wicked way, but who death is.

    17. The Unveiling (10/10) --The most meaningful song throughout the album. It's the meaning of every joker card. It is so deep. This is the one that they end everything with. it's great. It's a raprock. "May the juggalo's find us."

The Trials and Tribulations of Russell Jones, Ol' Dirty Bastard's third album, was largely recorded while he was evading the authorities and finished just before he was arrested in a McDonald's in Philadelphia. Suffice it to say, this is not his best work. Despite the title (Russell Jones is ODB's real name), this is not a confessional record in which the Wu-Tang Clan man returns to sanity. Insanity is, in fact, a key part of his act and personality; the man who raps about "stinking like doo-doo" has a song entitled "I Wanna F**k" and is now spending two to four years in a New York prison.

If ODB's excellent Nigga Please explored his party side, then Tribulations delves into his dark depths, confirming his position as the Screamin' Jay Hawkins of hip-hop. The record brightens occasionally on tracks like "Caught Up," which takes off from where ODB left Kelis on "Got Ya Money," but while ODB's creative mania remains intact, the album's production feels rushed, with many of the beats sounding cheap and flat. Clan members such as the Rza and Raekwon are noticeably absent, wisely deciding to skip this one until their Shaolin colleague is free again. You best do the same. --Jake Barnes

    Album Description

Long hailed as the most unpredictable and eccentric member of the Wu Tang Clan ODB (Ol' Dirty Bastard) can also be called unstoppable. Incarcerated since July of this year, ODB has not ceased to continue his illustrious career. Shortly after his sentencing, he signed a record deal with the Los Angeles based independent label D3 Entertainment. The album THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS OF RUSSELL JONES will be released March 19th.

While ODB's antics offstage have, in recent times, drawn more publicity than his musical output, he has enjoyed astounding success with the Wu-Tang Clan as well as with his solo efforts. It was almost ten years ago that ODB, along with cousins RZA and the Genius, formed the Staten Island-based hip-hop supergroup Wu-Tang Clan. Along with several other core rappers, they hit the underground with their debut release, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) to critical acclaim and worldwide success. ODB's solo effort Return of the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version was released in 1995, and showcased his unique, maniacal, left of center style. N**** Please, was released in 1999 and achieved him legendary status.

    2 out of 5 stars Poorly made remix album. 2 1/2 stars.......2005-01-24

I am a huge ODB fan that had to have all of his CDs, even this old thing. If you don't own this CD you're not missing much. For starters ODB and Wu-Tang had no input on this record. Dirty didn't even know it was being made. The whole album except for like three tracks are made from semi-rare B sides, MTV skits and awful unused studio cuts. Now, lets break the tracks down:

    1. Intro -Funny as all hell

    2. Caught Up -ODB only raps on this track for 20 seconds and it has one of the worse hooks in music history. **stars

    3. Dirty & Stinkin' -Some O.K production, but what kills it is the guests Insane Clown Posse. Fourth remake of the song that I know of so far. **stars

    4. Dogged Out -Sad remake of the song "Dog Shxt". The beat sounds Arabic and Too $hort sucks on his verse. **stars

    5. Free With Money -Boring and thankfully short skit

    6. Anybody -This is kinda good and C-Murder steals the show! *** stars

    7. Waitress #13 - Skit, Dirty showing off his manners in a Diner.

    8. Reunited -O.K remake of "Reunited" B side. *** stars

    9. Here Comes the Judge -Wack as hell beat! Sounds like rejected carnival music! ODB goes crazy on this stinker. * 1/2 stars

    10. Cute Devils -Skit, ODB showing love to some random fans.

    11. I Wanna Fxck -Worse track yet! Who ever is singing that hook needs to stick to his day job. ODBs verse is recycled form "Don't You Know pt 2" and strange enough it seems censored. * star

    12. Highjack -Sort of funny skit

    13. Lintballs -Very good track even though Dirty has only one short verse. *** 1/2 stars

    14. Zoo Two -Remake of "Brooklyn Zoo 2 (Tiger Crane)". Plain slow beats. ** 1/2 stars

    15. Anybody (Remix) -Same lyrics crapier beat. ** 1/2 stars

    16. Taking a Shxt -Very funny skit

    17. C'mon -Remake of "Baby C'mon". Weak beats. ** stars

    18. Dirty & Stinkin' (Remix) -Again, same lyrics crapier beat. Fifth remake of the song that I know of so far. * 1/2 stars

1 out of 5 stars THIS IS THE MOST WACKEST CD IVE EVER HEARD.......2004-01-28

FOR ANYONE WHO LIKES THIS CD THEY ARE NOT A TRUE WU FAN CAUSE THIS CD IS GARBAGE. MOST OF THE MUSIC IS TAKEN OUT OF THE RETURN TO THE 36 CHAMBERS AND PUT OVER NEW BEAT WACK BEATS AT THAT, WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING WHEN THEY PUT ICP,CMURDER,MACK10 ON THIS ALBUM. THIS IS JUST A WAY THE GREEDY INDUSTRY D3 RECORDZ WANTED TO MAKE MONEY OFF THIS MAN. WHEN THIS CD WAS COMING OUT ODB WAS IN JAIL AND HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT WAS COMING OUT. I GAVE THIS CD 1 STAR BECAUSE IT ONLY HAD ONE GOOD ORIGINAL SONG ON THERE AND THAT WAS LINTBALLZ WITH BROOKLYN ZOO AND SUNZ OF MAN,TO ANY TRUE WU FAN OUT THERE I ADVISE YOU TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS CD.

1 out of 5 stars Review of ODB's third solo effort.......2003-07-22

I have always been a fan of Ol' Dirty Bastard. His first two albums were both highly enjoyable. His vocal talent, which is so awful that it's brilliant (i.e. Biz Markie) and his drugged-out flow are truly one of a kind. That being said, D3 has done his fans wrong.

Despite what any album summary might tell you, ODB did not record this album while on the run from the law. In fact, none of these songs were even recorded by him. Almost half of the tracks on the album are skits taken from MTV interviews. Of the remaining, more than half are old vocals over awful beats. They actually take a well-known track from his first solo album and put another beat behind it. Even the lead single featuring cult rap group, Insane Clown Posse has recycled ODB lyrics. There are only about three tracks that have unreleased vocals on them and none of them are worth it.

This album contains no production or guest appearances from any member of the Wu-Tang Clan and in fact would be better served to call itself a "remix" album than try to pawn itself off as a brand new ODB album, which it is not.

1 out of 5 stars My first listen was my last..........2002-12-07

First song has the worst group ever, ICP, that automatically makes this CD horrible from the beginning. The majority of ODB's lyrics are just cut out of old Wu-Tang songs. The production is horrible. Stay away from this CD, I don't even consider it a Wu CD.

    3 out of 5 stars o.k. 3rd solo album.......2005-02-09

Big Syke returns less than a year since his last album and to me it shows. This is my least favorite of his 4 solo albums, and 3 of them came out in a time span of less than 18 months (Not to mention a compilation he put out during that time as well). He should have took more time and spread the releases out more and the quality more than likely would be better. It has 16 songs, of these I'd say 7 are good, 5 are o.k., and 4 I skip. Guests are not too many. Big Syke produced 12 of the 16 songs, Khayree did 1, and Vachik Aghaniantz did 3, and the production isn't as good as his other albums. A good album to have for his fans, but I 'd check his others out for more higher Syke quality.

Influenced by 60's French pop, Bossa Nova and Stereo Lab this is one of the finest CDs in the electronic music world I listened to.
I liked very much the arrangement of Henry Mancini's Nothing to lose that is in fact part of The Party soundtrack.
I am quite sure that Hrundi V Bakshi would have recommended this CD too

    4 out of 5 stars Soothing CD........2005-07-31

This is a great lounging cd. Easy listening for dinner and sitting around with friends.
I really enjoyed Tous Les Jours and Gone with the wind. These types of lounge CDs are many but few are good to listen over and over, this one really fits into the listening to over and over.
    Hope you enjoy.
