It's good to have all of Thorogood's biggest hits in one place, but Baddest is pretty skimpy on the perennial album-radio cuts, substituting bonus tracks and second-line material. "Ride On Josephine," for example, isn't here. Neither are Chuck Berry's "No Particular Place to Go," "Night Time," and a number of other staples. More suspicious still, "Bad to the Bone" appears with a new remix. Hmm. Looks like someone's leaving some slack for a Volume 2. Since the Thorogood catalog is fairly big, it wouldn't pay to track down his highlights album-by-album, but the Live CD will set you up pretty well. --Gavin McNett

5 out of 5 stars THIS ALBUM IS GEORGE THOROGOOD AT HIS BADDEST........2007-02-05

Readers and reviewers, I will be writing a review on the legendary compilation album entitled "THE BADDEST OF GEORGE THOROGOOD AND THE DESTROYERS" by one of Rock's greatest bands and one of America's greatest sons. I give you one of Delaware's pride and joy's, MR. GEORGE THOROGOOD AND THE DESTROYERS. This compilation album was originally released in 1992 on Compact Disc on the EMI Records label which is manufactured by Capitol Records. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary compilation album or the artist, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the best informative and most accurate review possible.

GEORGE THOROGOOD AND THE DESTROYERS will forever go down in Rock n' Roll history for bringing back the true spirit of the 50's Rock n' Roll music. This legendary band actually rocks in the tradition of CHUCK BERRY, BO DIDDLEY, JOHN LEE HOOKER AND ELMORE JAMES. When THOROGOOD plays his blistering guitar, his guitar riffs and licks are taken straight out of 50's Chicago Blues and Rock n' Roll. In my opinion, this compilation album is GEORGE THOROGOOD AND THE DESTROYERS at their absolute best.

I will list and briefly review certain song tracks that are vital, relevent and of importance to this review. All of the song tracks contained on this legendary compilation album are all good. It is hard to choose one song track over the other in this compilation album. But in order to shorten this review, I will only list and briefly review the song tracks in their original exact running order as follows: (1.) "Bad To The Bone," (This is a well recorded Rocker that brings back the true spitit of the 50's Rock n' Roll music. As you all may well remember, this legendary song was played in the movies THE TERMINATOR II and CHRISTINE. THOROGOOD plays his guitar with such craft and skill that he would have made his fellow guitar heroes proud. This song really kicks a*s.) (2.) "Move It On Over," (This Rocker kicks a*s as well. I love the way THOROGOOD plays his riffs and licks in this Rocker. THOROGOOD shows no mercy in this number.) (4.) "You Talk Too Much," (This Rocker kicks a*s the way a Rocker is suppose to. THOROGOOD NEVER lets up in this Rocker. THOROGOOD plays his guitar like there's no tomorrow.) (5.) "Who Do You Love," (This is a great tribute to MR. BO DIDDLEY. This Rocker kicks a*s. THOROGOOD plays lead and rhythm guitar with such power and grace that he will leave you begging for more.) (8.) "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," (This Rocker contains almost nine minutes of some of the greatest Rock n' Roll music and guitar playing that you have ever heard. This Rockin' song, like all the other songs, kicks a*s. THOROGOOD does not let up in this Rocker. THOROGOOD plays his blistering guitar like he is taking you on a journey with him to the crossroads. THOROGOOD dares you or anybody else to try to outplay him.) (9.) "If You Don't Start Drinkin' (I'm Gonna Leave)," (This is another well recorded THOROGOOD Rocker that kicks a*s. THOROGOOD plays his guitar with such confidence that he dares to play to your face. THOROGOOD does not let up in this Rocker either.) (10.) "Treat Her Right" (This is another well recorded THOROGOOD Rocker that kicks a*s. This Rocker also brings back the true spirit of 50's Rock n' Roll music. THOROGOOD dares to give you his all with his blistering guitar playing and his breathtaking guitar solo during this number.) and (11.) "Long Gone." (This is another THOROGOOD Rocker that kicks a*s. THOROGOOD NEVER lets up and he proves it while playing his blistering guitar during this Rocker.) Believe me when I tell you that all of the song tracks contained on this legendary compilation album are nothing short of outstanding. Overall, this is one hell of an album that really truly kicks a*s.

I would like to highly recommend that everybody buy this legendary compilation album for everyone to own as a valuable and important part of their own personal music collection. This legendary compilation album will stand the test of time and will always be around to be enjoyed, appreciated and cherished for many years to come, NOW AND FOREVER.

In closing, GEORGE THOROGOOD AND THE DESTROYERS are here to stay. This legendary band will always bring back the true spirit of the 50's Rock n' Roll music and I feel confident that as long as THOROGOOD is still around performing, the 50's music will live on forever and will never be forgotten. So Here's to you GEORGE and your band THE DESTROYERS. Keep Persevering. Keep The Faith. Keep On Rockin'. And as the saying goes, "AND THE REST IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY," am I wrong? Thanks for reading my review and I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also hope that you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. GEORGE THOROGOOD RULES. Long Live Rock n' Roll. Rock out always and take it easy. Forever in Rock, John L.

5 out of 5 stars No scuzzy dive would be complete.......2006-05-07

To this day, every time I hear "One Bourbon...", I remember the time at a honky-tonk in Lubbock, TX I simultaneously saw: 1) a guy throwing up in the corner, 2) a guy breaking a beer bottle over another guy's head, and 3) George howling away on the juke.

Good times.

4 out of 5 stars BAD FOR GOOD!.......2005-10-26

Wild Bill, a good party-hearty buddy of mine used to keep only three CDs in his Corvette for cruisin' to: THE BEST OF THE BLUES BROTHERS, JIMMY BUFFET'S GREATEST HITS, and this anthology of Delaware's best known Destroyer of boogie n' blooze. "What else do you need?", he'd grin. What else indeed? For straight ahead, pedal to the metal, sweaty, ready-steady-go rock n' roll meant to be cranked to ozone shattering volumes, George is the man. Equal parts cocky gravel-pit vocalist, slippery slide grrr-tar mangler, and overgrown frat boy, Thorogood's musical approach is, to quote a Dave Edmunds album, "Subtle as a Flying Mallet". His rip off the knob takes on Hank Williams' MOVE IT ON OVER and John Lee Hooker's barstool classic ONE BOURBON, ONE SCOTCH, ONE BEER groove grandly alongside dyed in the wool originals BAD TO THE BONE and I DRINK ALONE, making THE BADDEST OF GEORGE THOROGOOD one of the goodest party excuses on record. Just ask my pal Wild Bill, if you can find 'im. RATING: FOUR BREWSKIS

5 out of 5 stars Dirty Electric Blues!.......2005-07-08

What I like about George Thorogood is his attitude. It is what I always liked about early Rolling Stones. It is how blues should be played. Black and dirty.
I always liked One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer of John Lee Hooker, but I prefer George Thorogood cover more. Move It On Over is Hank Williams' cover, but it sounds like his original, just like Who Do You Love, originally written and recorded by Bo Diddley.
About songs like Bad To The Bone, I Drink Alone and If You Don't Start Drinkin' (I'm Gonna Leave) I think I don't need to write. They are already standards.
If you're new to electric blues or George Thorogood and The Destroyers you must buy this album.

5 out of 5 stars Hes bad to the bone, but his guitar playings ****ing awesome.......2004-11-08

Ive seen people try and compare him to the likes of Jimmy page. But thats not what George Thorogood is all about. Hes about women, beer, baseball, music, and more than anything, just plain fun.
And thats exactly how he comes across. When he described himself as a burger bar, he meant it. He doesnt asked to be compared to any one else. Because the only reason he plays, is because HE LOVES IT.
If you like damn good blues, and you just want to chill, this is the one for you. Any time.
He riffs like anything, and the brilliant copies of 'one Bourbon, one Scotch, one Beer' and 'who do you love' will have you playing air guitar all night.
