A prediction: "Torpedoes" will soon feature prominently on goth-industrial play lists around the world. It's got a good beat and, boy, can you dance to it. The demise of KMFDM appears to have been good for former members Tim Skold and Sascha Konietzko, who with the addition of former Drill singer Lucia Cifarelli have acquired a new lease on musical life.
MDFMK is less techno, more noise, fewer politics, more emotion, and sounds more like a collaborative effort, as opposed to an assemblage of pieces that fit together really well but never quite jell. It is, in short, really good stuff and incredibly addictive, especially the aforementioned "Torpedoes." Other notable tracks include "Rabble Rouser," which often shifts rhythmic gears; the thoughtful "Stare at the Sun"; and the aptly titled "Witch Hunt," which seems to refer to the unfortunate correlation between the release date of KMFDM's final album and the Columbine High School shootings. Turn on the strobe lights and bring on the noise.

Delicious but Deceptive.......2007-07-04
The Naive (or the better known Naive/Hell to Go) release of yore has been out-of-print for a little while now and the reissue with "5 bonus tracks" comes with a tide of old KMFDM friends. It has been 23 years since KMFDM dropped their first album, after all, and their old albums have been hard to get sometimes - depending on the title. Still, this new marketing campaign is a bit deceptive because 5 tracks indicates new songs and this isn't really the case. New songs wouldn't be that good, either, considering the KMFDM from the late 80's/ early 90's is not the KMFDM of today and the tracks you would be getting wouldn't be anything like the band then. Instead of that awkward thing happening, you get readditions of old songs, a little more "tastes great" while never really being less filling, but that doesn't really give anyone save a collector or someone needing the album something "new" to obtain. So, don't buy it just because you think you are missing out.
That said, Naive/Hell to Go is a good release because it has a rich history (if you want detailed description you can look up the intense drama that happened because of En Esch's creation) and because it has both an En Esch creation AND a Sasha creation built in. En Esch made half the album, had it rejected, and then had it bulked up by a secondary wing of tracks. Maybe it was a fear of a repeat on En Esch's part because he put out the album Cheesy then and it wasn't acclaimed (it was entertaining but was not anything like his new releases with Slick Idiot), or maybe it was a plethora of other cited reasons. Regardless, the additions did strengthen the album and I was actually surprised by the relative aging of the album and how good some of the songs still are.
I'm not going to say that you should or shouldn't buy the album, because this is a matter of taste. Instead, I'll say that this is a good buy IF you like KMFDM of that day AND if you don't have it already. In my opinion it shows KMFDM in their most beautiful days, not really addressing the best releases that were about to come but still showing KMFDM at their finest. You might want to keep to look at the old one if possible because of the old drama AND because you have a song missing from the fray, too, and because the old flow was the intended one. If you want to see if you need it and preview the entire rerelease selection/ hear samples of the album you can go to Metropolis ( website is Metropolis-Records; I would put it all in here BUT it would be edited out of this review so you can add in the rest) and see what you like for yourself.
Regardless, it is great to see the old catalog hitting the virtual shelves again and I recommend it to people who enjoyed the old days of Wax Trax and the refinement of the electronic frontier.
It's About Time..........2007-06-27
When KMFDM first released the album Naive,it was only in availability for a very short while. Due to copyright issues on the song "Liebeslied", KMFDM used a sample from "O Fortuna" that they, apparently, did not have the right to use. The album was quickly recalled and regurgitated a few years later with approximately 50% remixes and "Hell to Go" added to the title. It's nice to see this disc back in its (almost) original form. "Lieseslied" is still missing the samples from "O Fortuna", but the disc loses no power because of it. It's a solid representation of KMFDM's work in the very middle of their career (to date) before they signed their long-term contracts in '92. You can almost say this represents the Beginning of KMFDM's Wax Trax! era.
GODLIKE.......2007-03-12
KMFDM is rereleasing all their back catalog... with bonus tracks. This has 5 extra tracks compared to the original Naive, and they are the remixes from the Naive/Hell to Go album. I like that in this album, the continuity and flow of the tracks is incredible, same as the old one. The sample on Liebeslied isn't there, and it's a shame, because I think the sample added so much. It can probably be found on eBay or something... just look around!
Definitely a must have for any KMFDM fan, with great tracks like "Naive" "Go to Hell" "Virus" "Godlike" and "Liebeslied".
If you even like indusrial music period, buy this. You won't be disappointed.
A welcome reissue, minus the Orff sample..........2006-12-25
The original version of 'Naive' had to be yanked from the shelves due to an uncleared sample of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" being used in "Liebeslied." A subsequent "cleaned" version, 'Naive - Hell to Go,' was released, and both eventually went out of print. Now, we have a compilation of sorts - the entirety of the original 'Naive' MINUS the Orff sample (ergo the "edit" designation on "Liebeslied") and the unique tracks from the 'Naive - Hell to Go' album. Still, this reissue sounds great, although I'm still holding onto my previous version of 'Naive,' if only to give the Orff people a middle-finger salute.
You'd have to be naive not to own this........2006-12-19
I own the original pressing of this cd and to preserve it, I'll most definitely purchase this one. Sascha and En Esch hold true and create probably one of their best albums to date. I've been a fan of them for years and own several of their albums, but this one is up on my top faves by them. Industrial roots come together and shine through this album and is worth the purchase. Liebeslied, Godlike and Go to Hell are intense tracks to listen to.

Not Classic but still Brilliant.......2007-05-31
This is really what I expected: KMFDM a little bit progressed.
The album sounds fantastic, the known KMFDM sound, a little bit more polished, but still wild and powerful. That is nearly perfect in other words. Some of the songs have also great ideas. There are some tracks that I like more (eg "Torpedoes", "Hydro-Electric", "Witch Hunt"), but I do listen to the whole album very often.
It may never be a "classic" album, but it is still a brilliant album.
I really cannot understand people that complain about KMFDM have changed. Everything I have liked in KMFDM sound is also present in their latest albums, and in their "transformation" to MDFMK, too. Fans,... proceed!
abnormally catchy and good.......2006-06-12
I acually really liked this album. While it doesnt really sound much like KMFDM it does have a few things that it takes away from it. Essentially many components of KMFDM found their way into MDFMK. It is much more grungy, catch, and dancey, per say. But its hard to compare the two. They almost sound like 2 totaly different bands
Cha-Ching.......2006-06-08
KMFDM was never there to make money, after the demise of KMFDM it seems as if everyone's favorite Kapt'n needed some coin. This is to put it simply Sascha and Tim-Tim's attempt at mainstream music. Not that that is a bad thing, it's just that if you were here expecting KMFDM you will be dissapointed. This isn't a bad album, but it's nothing fantastic. There is A LOT of synth on this album, more than anything by KMFDM. I'm not a big fan of the electronic parts, but occasionally when the guitar kicks in I'm all over it. If you are a casual music fan buy it, if you're a KMFDM fan buy it soley for a komplete kollektion. Who knows maybe you'll enjoy it...
awesome.......2006-06-07
first let me say this..i love tim skold's contribution to kmfdm/mdfmk...he is a great vocalist for the dark hard techno-ish music..and a much needed break from grunters like sascha, en esch, and raymond watts....and i do infact hate marilyn manson with a passion as well! sorry tim, no doubt that you are cool, but joining manson was a nasty move to me.
anyways, what a great follow-up to adios...this is also good because you arent really expecting kmfdm...i mean sascha was really the only member of true kmfdm blood in this project..so basically they covered their arses from those nit-picking fans who would have called this "the worst kmfdm album" or said "this isnt kmfdm."...i personally think they should have continued with this direction...maybe change things up a little bit, but enough to sound fresh and excellent...dare i say mdfmk should have been kmfdm of the new millenia?...i mean really, the worst part of this album is definately the cover and linear note design...where is the brute when you need him?..well now kmfdm has been back a while and they arent what they used to be...if they were still MDFMK, they could have been excused easily.
the japanese version is VERY tempting, but yet that cd is still incomplete because it still lacks "missing time." so i would say stick with the US release simply because 30 extra bucks isn't worth it for 2 extra tracks...if it were 4-9 extra tracks, i could understand...i mean unless you live, eat, sleep and breath mdfmk....where is the accompanying 4 track EP when you need it?
Lucia Cifarelli's Debut With KMFDM.....I mean MDFMK.......2005-08-11
Some put this album down for various reasons including the members involved(Sascha,Tim,Lucia) the production or lack of direction. Or maybe because of KMFDM being inverted to MDFMK.....I don't know. I can tell you this, KMFDM are embarking on a different sound for the 21st century and how awesome of a sound it is. With the exception of Transmutation, this album is quite good. The songwriting and vocal stylings are incredible. And Lucia fits into the fold quite well and continuing to improve on future albums 'Attak,WWIII' There are a few slight limitations here and there(some guitar tracks are a bit thin) but overall this album does kick ass. Most were upset over the disbanding of KMFDM and state that they are going down hill since this was released...........I totally disagree and really enjoy this album!

A Very Good Single.......2005-08-01
This is one of KMFDM's best singles out there, it also has my favorite remix, track 5; Anarchy remix by Tim Skold. It should be one of the first singles you should get from KMFDM.
The best!.......2004-02-26
I bought this CD back in 1998, and I figure it's about time to give it a review. This CD is absolutley incredible. If nothing else, buy it for the anarchy mixes. They are incredibly origional, and I tell ya... I misplaced this CD about four years ago and just found it... popped it in, and it sounds better every second. It's the best few bucks you could spend
MDFMK doing it well........2002-05-06
I love all the remixes on this CD. If you love Symbols by KMFDM then you will definitely love these remixes. This CD is hard to find, I never see it anywhere else but here at Amazon.com.
great single.......2002-02-03
This is a great single to megalomatic. The two remixes of the songs are great as are the remixes of unfit and anarchy. This is the only KMFDM single I have, and I have to say that I feel like buying more now based on this one because it shows that KMFDM adds a lot to songs when the remix them.
KMFDM's best single.......2001-08-29
Some nice mixes of "Megalomaniac" and "Unfit." Tim Skold's mix of "Anarchy" is good as well.

Customer Reviews:
Kindel's Amazing Debut.......2005-07-19
Kindel's creation 'Liquefaction' is the new powerhouse in the industrial electronica scene with the powerful debut of 'Chrysalis' that was followed up earlier this year by the beautiful unmatched sophmore album 'Emerge'. I have corresponded with Kindel the artist and can only say that she is a wonderful person who is very helpful to answer queries. I am now a fully-fledged fan of Liquefaction and this debut album has 13 wonderfully captivating tracks. The music ranges from brooding electronica pieces to an ethereal dance rhythm. Kindel's vocals add to the strength and complexity of the lyrics and the sound of the songs. She has such a wonderfully powerful voice that can take hold of the listener and move them with the enticing elixir of her sounds. There are some very notable songs like 'Solipsystic' that is more of a dance beat song. Then you have the vocal amazement of 'Are You My Enemy' an almost entrancing song. 'Breath' is a cross between dark melodies mixed with ambient synths. Then the 3 remixes of Solipsystic, Dollhouse, Heaven From Here are also highlights. The weakest song in this tight album was 'Knotted Wire' which was a battered industrial theme that just didn't seem to come together.
Kindel's debut album is superb and I recommend this piece of mastery to any industrial or ambient music fan.
Liquefaction:Chrysalis...Alien, Inc. Review.......2004-05-26
Liquefaction's "Chrysalis" Album took my quite by surprise. As a long-time fan of Kindel's music, I really appreciated the growth from her last album to the creation of Liquefaction. And such passion from a young woman shows that she's got what it takes to keep on making good records for millenia to come. I'd recommend this album to anyone looking to find the answer to their question, "What is THE album I need to buy?"
eclectic.......2004-05-07
It's an eclectic mix of unique sounds, rhythm, and vocals hat harmonize in a beautiful melodic mix. It is well worth buying and is great listen.
Amazing.......2004-05-04
I 've heard a lot of people in this industry do this kind of music wrong. Liquifaction is one of the few that does it right which is only topped by the fact that the front person, Kindel, is shattering the gender ceiling set up in this male driven genre. She doing what few women out there can and she's doing it as well as the big boy's. I would completely recommend this to anyone. She also works with a ton of other great artists on this project, which only adds to the incredible mix. I'm also a huge fan of Diverje, who she seems to have worked pretty closely with on this project. So here's my two cents worth. If you get a chance, Pick it up. You won't be disappointed.
Liquefaction's Chrysalis.......2004-05-04
Liquefaction's Chrysalis is full of amazing energy, powerful vocal's, and sounds. Kindel, the lead vocalist has a seductive yet soothing voice that captivates the listener. Each track contains something unique and different that shows you Liquefaction is destined for so much more in the future. I highly recommend this to EVERYONE! This album is a refreshing journey that introduced me to a whole new world of music! There is a versitility of beats, sounds, and surpirses packed in this fantastic album! I love each track and cannot say ANYTHING disappointing about it. I guarantee if you purchase this CD, it will quickly become one of your favorites!

Product Description
Hear samples on CDBaby @ www.cdbaby.com/liquefaction2. Liquefaction is a female solo project that is electronically charged with diverse contrasts of surreal, dream-like emotion and intense industrial styles. The birth of Liquefaction began with the release of Chrysalis in 2003. This was the first of the planned, conceptual 5 disc series which uses a metaphorical story of the life and times of an angel born into an apocalyptic world to relate to reality and the personal journey that everyone must face. Liquefactions Emerge is Kindel's 2nd album on the DSBP label. Its a nice progression from "Chrysalis" and will carve her own identity into the electronic scene. This album is very diverse, richly textured and well produced. She mixes a cohesive set of electronic, industrial, rock, ethereal, string sounds and plenty of interesting samples with beautifully harmonic female vocals and true emotion. The tracks are very catchy and memorable and will have you singing along. You can hear influences from the past mixing in a futuristic style overall. Emerge is a thematic album with a lot of details and dancey tracks as well as melodic instrumental music. It contains two remixes from E.S. R, and TECNOMAN S.F., as well as incredible cover version of "Don't Fear the Reaper"(BLUE OYSTER CULT.)
Customer Reviews:
Move Over Enigma! The successor is here - Kindel.......2005-06-14
I purchased this album 'Emerge' straight from the seller who actually was Kindel, the creator of this wonderous, beautiful, hauntingly enchanting and magnificient vocals. It feels like God sent his most cherished angelette down to Earth to sing for us, Kindel has a wonderful voice, sends me into joyous shivers one minute and into a epiphany where I want to sing along with her. This CD has 14 tracks and the 14 songs are truly breathtaking in sound and in her vocals. I loved the song 'Lifeless, Emerge and Elf' from the beginnings of this album her second in what I believe will be 5 albums all together and I know already that I will get all 5.
The music blends a number of styles and genres together from rock, ambience, industrial to a bit of lite trance and electronica. They are all mixed and it comes out sound very beautiful and listenable. The remixes on this album also do the original songs justice and add to the overall CD experience. Any fan of Era, Enigma, Delerium and Lesiem will love this artist and her beauty that shows in this fabulous CD.
Also the last song is a favourite of mine, 'Cascade'. It ends the CD in a great note.

Customer Reviews:
Extra tracks? Why not?.......2005-08-18
The Japanese edition of MDFMK comes with two extra tracks: American Dream and Action/Reaction. They are not availible anywhere else! These are very good tracks, and the cd is worth picking up for a resonable price. Me I had to have it so I bought it. A must ahve for any KMFDM fan. Possible the last CD of the greatness of KMFDM, who, in my opinion, hasn't made anything great since.
Rebellion and The Electronic MouthPiece.......2003-02-06
With the MDFMK moniker well in hand, the new-crafted circle of members of the band formerly known as KMFDM decided to traverse roads previously unknown to them, taking their version of "Rip the System" aggression into a more synth-friendly sound. The result is an MDFMK that, in some ways, reflected some of the KMFDM angst of the past but, with a lineup composed of Sasha, Tim Skold, and Lucia, still echoed something of a void without the additional components known as Gunther and En Esch. They were still immensely enjoyable and they still forged ahead with something that worked well and is worthy of five-stars plus, but there was something missing in that one-two punch that had culminated within those members from once before. Perhaps its something akin to nostalgia, but listening to it and feeling my pulse quicken still reminds me that there is something gone from the ranks that had been there forever up until now - something I can only listen to when buying En Esch's "DickNity".
All of the songs provided within this work spin an industrial/electronic web that helped move a nation of KMFDM's listeners with many of its songs, plus the additions of Lucia (Get Out of My Head) was well-received as well. In fact, after listening to many of their songs and seeing them tour for a while, could only be described as infectious, making the listener want to hear them over and over again. They were still driven heavily by pounding sounds, driven guitars, and the incorporation of Sasha's programming skills, rounding out the work in some of the best ways possible. Still, there are many that say that this isn't the KMFDM of yore, and that is true in some respects as well. The sounds are different but the messages, some lashing out at the sociopolitical arena (Gasoline, RabbleRouser) and some commenting on the need to burn something at the stake (Witch Hunt). All, however, point to the fact that "The Revolution Will Be Synthesized!" - a fact that, until now, has never been quite so evident.
Provided on the import album are two tracks that I actually longed for and find myself quite glad I have. Contrary to the popular opinion's expressed by so many, I found these tracks quite delectable and, after hearing them live, a driving force that made me re-obtain the album in this more expensive form. Why? Because the message within the heartbeat of Amerikan Nightmare, commenting on the future of the mentality of what amounts to a nightmare for so many, is a pure form of social commentary that KMFDM was founded on and what I strive to own. Also, the incorporation of Acton/Reaction, a track that is something of a combination of Tim Skold's former solo work and KMFDM, is a nice compliment to the set.
For those that wish to own the entirety of the album, I would actually suggest forgoing the US release and picking up the Japanese version for the two extra track. Still, if you find this an impossible step, I'd still suggest you introduce the MDFMK release into your listening mindset because your wanton subconscious deserves it!
For fans of KMFDM, Industrial, or good music in general..........2000-10-02
MDFMK have their work cut out for them, that's for sure. After over a decade of creating legendary music, KMFDM decided that a change was needed. For Sascha Konietzko, Tim Skold, and Lucia Cifarelli, that change is MDFMK. MDFMK is an incredible mix of guitars, electronics, vocals that go from harsh to hypnotic, and general noise. This time around, the lyrics are light on the politics, heavy on the emotions, and this is a good thing. While you won't be hearing RIP THE SYSTEM! anywhere on this disk, you won't mind one bit, because you'll be too distracted by the audio roller coaster ride that you can't get enough of. The two bonus tracks, Amerikan Dream and Action Reaction are both excellent, and a nice finish to an overall classic album. MDFMK will suck you in, and won't let you go for a long time. Buy the disk and crank the volume!
Amerikan Dream!.......2000-09-26
That is the main reason to by this album - "Amerikan Dream" (spelled with a 'k' because it was written in Japanese katakana, because it was a Japanese import). It has all the elements of cool music - computers, Sascha Konietzko, Tim Skold, and Lucia Cifarelli. The other bonus track, "Action/Reaction", is OK, but it lacks a hook or any stand-out musical part. It sort of reminds me of track 7 and 11.
Other than those two bonus tracks, there's no other reason to buy this album, hence the 4 stars. I really love MDFMK (and of course, KMFDM) but if your not a hard-core fan, there is no real point in buying this album, unless you've got tons of extra cash.
The US release of this CD was great, and I really suggest you get that. The highlights were: "Now", "Get out of my head", "Control", and "Witch Hunt". The two stinkers were "Be like me" and "Hydroelectric". They lack the pizazz of the other songs - but the lyrics are acceptable. Maybe they'll do some remixing?
Bottom line: Got the cash? Buy it now! Want to hear what MDFMK is all about before shelling it all out, buy the original US release, now!
Amerikan Dream!.......2000-09-24
The main reason I bought this import album was because of the song "Amerikan Dream", which has great loops, programming, and keyboards. It's a fast paced song and has great thought-provoking lyrics - which sort of reminds of the "Glory" single from KMFDM.
I bought it in Japan at a Japanese record store, so I got it for 2500 yen, which is 25 dollars. I don't know why it is so expensive on Amazon. But it IS worth it. Especially if you were a big fan of KMFDM and/or are a big fan of MDFMK.
All the other tracks are great, too. Especially "Now", "Torpedoes", "Get out of my Head", "Control?" and "Witch Hunt".
Bottom line: You don't have the 30 sum-odd dollars for this CD, go and buy the normal US release of the MDFMK CD (which is self-titled). I can't wait for their new releases!
