3 out of 5 stars I agree with previous comment.......2006-10-22

I was at this festival and it was a truly amazing experience. First of all you probably do have to be there to really enjoy the music on this cd. The festival is one in which you travel from stage to stage getting a little taste of each band you see. Some of the performances were by far some of the most memorable experiences ever! The choice of songs on this cd is weak. Dave and friends blew me away, "trouble" does not represent the show. Why not put the song "Thing" where Dave goes wild and scats. I do love "One Big HOliday" from My Morning Jacket. Too much to review, but in summary if you want to experience a little piece of this festival, buy the dvd it is much better and you can see what goes on behind the scenes.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing.......2005-10-20

I had high hopes for this cd with such an ecclectic line-up. The high points are:Los Lonely Boys, The Bad Plus, David Byrne , and String Cheese Incident. Bob Dylan's tune is okay but it sounds disjointed and uninspired. The Dead is probably the biggest letdown for me on the cd. Please don't tell me that this song is a good indicator of what they are doing these days. Mickey Hart, while a fairly competent drummer, REALLY needs to stay away from the vocal mike. This is really taking the Dead's fan base for granted. The rest of the tunes never really reach anything resembling something that I'd care to listen to again more than once. I guess I had to be there. I wonder why they didn't include songs from Neko Case, Doc Watson, Los Lobos, or Galactic? When you open the cd case there is a quote from Gillian Welch that says,"A good song is unstoppable. If you write a good song, they can't do anything to you." I'd be curious to know if the artists on this compilation think that these are good songs or at the very least saying something meaningful.
