RPWL was originally formed in Germany in 1997 as a Pink Floyd Tribute band and though they have held on to many of the "Floydian" qualities that helped them to shape their sound they have also managed to seamlessly blend in their own ideas and personalities. They made their U.S. debut through Inside Out Music America in 2002 with Trying To Kiss The Sun which garnered critical acclaim throughout the US progressive rock community. Now with the release of World Through My Eyes, their second release for IOMA, RPWL hopes to firmly establish themselves as an original voice. This album is really the number two album from this trio. It is very good and well worth the investment. The five star album by The Irish Tenors would have to be Heritage. Both albums rate high in my book.

This is my first CD of the Irish Tenors. And what a joy! I played it as soon as it arrived. I like the blend of their voices,the passion and enthusiasm they bring to this CD. What I find is a real treat is the words to all the songs are in the booklet.I love this CD.

The Very Best of the Irish Tenors is just that!.......2005-01-22

This recording is wonderful. Ronan's "last Rose of summer" is unique, the Percy French medley shows all three in great voice, Finbar's Maggie is wonderful and the laurels have to go to Anthony for his magnificent rendition of "She moved through the fair", wow!!!!

Well worth buying.

A Good Catch.......2007-07-02

RPWL, a German progressive rock band, starts to break out into the musical world with their fourth album "World Through My Eyes." I really disagree with some of the reviewers saying that this band is like a Pink Floyd clone. It seems obvious to me that RPWL have their own sound, there's no denying the Pink Floyd influence, but it in no way overshadows their own sound.

One thing I find hard to do is label a specific genre to this band, I dislike labels anyway, I only see it as being good music. However, for the sake of categorizing what it sounds like, I guess there is a big psychedelic vibe accompanied by pop and progressive rock with a touch of blues. Either way, the stuff is brilliant.

I know this album is not a concept album, but the songs seem to flow very well. "World Through My Eyes" is definitely an album that you will find yourself listening to all the way through. That being said, some songs stood out to me more than others.

The opening track "Sleep" is a very psychedelic tune that combines elements of rock with that of Middle-Eastern sounding melodies. This is a great song to just sit down and listen to, and as its name suggests, you could just fall asleep to it. The next song, "Start the Fire," kicks off with a very melodic guitar melody and is a great psychedelic rock song. The track "Roses" features Ray Wilson from Stiltskin as the lead vocalist and he really has a great voice, this song showcases just how great his voice is. Like others have mentioned, this is just a great pop song.

Then there's my personal favorite song "3 Lights" which is another brilliant mellow rock song. This is Yogi Lang's finest vocal performance and keyboard performance on the whole album in my opinion. When he starts singing in all the harmonies I just feel so at peace. The keyboards are also phenomenal, especially the synthesizer solo about half-way through the song. I think this track is the best on the album. My last favorite would be the last song "Wasted Land" the song is just so catchy and the instrumentation is wonderful.

Well that's about it for RPWL I am certainly happy that I stumbled across this band and hearing this album has now given me the urge to explore the rest of their discography.

Excellent CD!.......2007-04-06

I was turned on to this band by the Roger Waters (of Pink Floyd) International fan club (REG). I am so glad I bought it! It is a fantastic CD. Every song is good. Some are just amazing. The more you hear it the more you like it. At first it sounded so much like Gilmour's newer Pink Floyd (Division Bell, Momentary Lapse) that it was hard for me to hear it on it's own merits however after a few times I began to see they have their own style which blends Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, with elements of Beatles and more. Now that I have heard it over and over I feel this record is better than any of the new Pink Floyd stuff, better than Gilmour's solo record which came out last year (which I like). As a real Waters fan I can't say it is better than Roger's solo work but it is up there with some of my favorite CD's of all time. The title song "World through my Eyes" is my favorite and sounds the least Floydian of all the songs on the CD. It has elements of Gabriel and maybe NIN in it and when I play it while riding my bike and the beat comes in I feel like I can ride faster and harder than ever. It just rips! You will not regret buying this CD! Get it now!

A wonderful world.......2006-07-16

I would highly recommend this release to fans of Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd or Riverside. The production is great and the songwriting top-notch. Very rich melodies, excellent instrumentation and smooth, calming vocals abound. Much has been said of comparisons to Floyd, but I find the vocals and the use of organ on some tracks the only real similarities. To me, the guitar sound is more similar to U2 (which isn't a bad thing!) The albums starts off very nicely with "Sleep" (which isn't a sleeper at all,) and continues very nicely with some other great melodies. My favorites are "Sleep," Everything Was Not Enough," and "Roses," although none of the tracks are weak. More accessible than Pink Floyd, but still complex enough to entertain any prog fan.

Worth A Look For All Prog Fans.......2006-06-23

RPWL is a German-born group that started out as a Pink Floyd tribute act. While the Floyd influence is clear, this band should not be dismissed as a knock-off. "Roses" has a melodic beauty that the Pink rarely aimed for, while "Start the Fire" and "Wasted Land" show a distinctive knack for hooks. This is definitely progressive rock, but in more traditional bytes (not 20-minute forays). There are moments when they sound as much like the Moody Blues or Saga as Floyd but, in any case, any fan of prog should definitely give a listen.

Best Progressive Rock Band Since Porcupine Tree.......2006-04-13

This band is awesome, they sound like a mix between all the great progressive rock bands especially early Genesis and King Crimson and in some ways they sound better because they don't sound dated at all and they have such an original sound. When I first started listining to this album I didn't really like it because I wasn't expecting much and I didn't give it the amount of attention it deserved. After a couple listens I was completly blown away by such songs as Sleep, Everything Was Not Enough, 3 Lights, and Day On My Pillow, every song on it is amazing.I think that this is a concept album about religion and I really hope that you buy this album because it is truly life changing and this band deserves to be heard.

If the second half of the 20th Century has musical signs, they must include that phenomenal German singer Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau who dominated the recital and concert halls, the opera stages and the recording studios in a way no other artist has done it, except maybe Leonard Bernstein. In celebration of this great artist's 75th birthday we have here a set which includes the gems of his lieder repertoire, starting with those great Schubert cycles in their most vivid performances. Just listen to those early renditions of the Schone Mullerin or with Jorg Demus, or to Schuman's Dichterliebe cycle (with the same pianist). And you shall not miss the artistry of this most sensitive voice in full volume of Mahler lieder with piano and orchestral songs. And what about the Morike lieder by Hugo Wolf? Well, you shall probably wonder at that special cooperation between the singer and the Russian pianist Svitoslav Richter. It is a performance of lifetime, and so it is with the Wintereise of Schubert with Barnboim at the piano. Those who know the artistry of Fischer-Dieskau and even those who have already other recordings of those great works will not regret having this special set. For the newcomers to this great artist there will be a lot to discover, The music itself, sure, but mainly the art of interpratation. In this alone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau shine high and above all other singers.

Gathering lilacs and rarer flowers........2002-08-22

Justice is done to Welsh-born composer, pianist, actor and man of the theatre Ivor Novello in this Naxos CD. The artists who first performed them are heard in 18 items, recorded between 1917 and 1950. Ivor Novello himself is heard in two of them, providing some spoken repartee as he accompanies Edna Best at the piano. Most were recorded in the 1930s. The sound quality is good enough for the lyrics to be clearly heard. They bespeak a long-vanished era, but the music still has charm.

IS IT AMAZON OR HUNTER?.......2005-08-19

I've listened to all the clips and I don't know if its just the way the clips sound or if the cd really sounds like that. If that's how the cd sounds - like sung through a tin can and a sound of jibberish. . . I wouldn't buy it for anything. I couldn't make out a single identifiable word on even the english songs. . .

I personally listen to hunter every day (during the week) and I have got to tell you, HE IS GREAT. I may be biased because i personally know him and all, but he is a great kid.

Fun in Cajun country!.......2002-05-09

This was another fun recording from Hunter. The first one I heard at Bayou Boudin and Cracklins, a bed and breakfast in Breau Bridge, LA, when he was about 3, was a tape called "Hunter Hayes and Friends" and I was hooked. He is an amazing young man, and not just a cute face! He was an accomplished musician at 3, and continues to touch hearts. I anxiously await more!

Young, But "Oh My".......2001-05-21

Hunter has a winner with this CD. His choice of songs shows he's well rounded in his music. Hunter shows remarkable talent for his age and a maturity with his music that doesn't let on he was 7 when he recorded this. If you were listening to this CD and didn't know the artist you'd swear the artist was a lot older than 7. The 2 songs he wrote are very good, and show a very promising writing career. Let's hope he continues. This young man is not only a great talent but a very down to earth young man.

His band H.O.T. is also very good and they only complement this young man in his music. Hunter's enthusiasm with his music really shows especially in the faster tunes. As he gets older his playing, singing, and writing will only make him a greater presence to be reckoned with in the music field. He has a great future. Look what he's accomplished so far, and he's only 8.

Ok, i bought this cd expecting somthing great. I though he would be a good musician. he is only cute. If you are looking for young kids playing cajun music, that can really play, look for a cd from La Bande Feu-follet. I saw them in Rhode Island at the Rythym and Roots Festival. Not only do they put on a great show, but they give Steve Riley alot of compitition. This is a great group that will go somewhere. I wasted my money on this!
