This Buffalo, NY group is best known for their countless hooks, pop sensibility, and witty lyrics. Their debut was produced by Matt Squire (Panic! At The Disco, Thrice, Northstar). Their online presence is unlike anything Fueled By Ramen has ever experienced. They've consistently been in the top ten on purevolume.com for over six months, racking up over 1.6 million plays. Alternative Press named them one of the 100 Bands You Need To Know In 2006.Customer Reviews:

Customer Reviews:
Not for fans of the music in the movie ... .......2007-07-21
If you like the darker, richer, exotic music of the film, pick up albums by Taha and Tabatabai.
If you like mediocre compilations of absolutely horrifying covers of once great songs (I actually got physically ill hearing the versions of Venus in Furs and Killing Moon) then maybe pick this up.
The one or two decent tracks (ok, one) like Collide's just aren't worth the buy in.
The art of soundtracking and film scoring has reached an all time low here.
This album is way better than the film..........2007-02-03
Tre Lux is Tina Root of Switchblade Symphony, one of the biggest Dark Wave bands of the 90's.
Shiny Toy Guns are huge right now, just played Leno a month ago.
Collide are one of the bigger bands of the goth/electro scene.
Bow Wow Wow...even the other reviewer knew who they are.
Sparklemotion had a hit on itunes from the Napoleon Dynamite Sountrack.
New Skin are a new English band produced by one of the guys who produced Depeche Mode and the Cure.
but whatever - the point is the album is really good - there's only one song I wasn't crazy about and for a soundtrack, that's saying a lot.
I can't say the same for the film...but oh well.
Yet Another 80's Mostly Lame New Wave Cover Song Collection by Mostly Unknowns.......2007-01-28
Except for Bow Wow Wow (glad to see they are struggling along still, but this IS DEFINITELY NOT their best work), almost all of these bands are probably unknown to 99.99% of the listening public. I have heard of Collide before this, kinda synthy darkwave band, very enjoyable, please go buy their other work ;) Almost of these songs lack the excitement and punch of the originals, why bother then making effort? I guess if I must, the first three songs are pleasant enough to listen to and I kind of like the Collide number as well...The rest can be safely deleted if you decide to convert these tracks to MP3s and just keep the aforementioned four tracks.

Album Description
Jerry Goldsmith's death in 2004 marked the end of one of the greatest careers in film composing. This lavish 57 track 4 CD set traces the path of his astonishing achievements and includes recordings conducted by Goldsmith himself. Featuring The City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, The Philharmonia Orchestra, The National Philharmonic Orchestra, and The Daniel Caine Orchestra. Includes over 280 minutes of music.Customer Reviews:
Awesome Set!.......2007-07-01
Elmer Bernstein Film Music Collection.......2006-11-03
Overall a strong Goldsmith sampler.......2006-04-11
Fortunately, even an ugly cover will not ruin good music. And the good news is that I'd say about 75 percent of the music is good....and on a 4 cd set, that's a lot. Like other Silva compilations, the strength of this compilation is the variety. There are selections from the big releases (Star Trek, Omen, Rambo), but there is also a healthy dose of tracks from the smaller releases(Under Fire, Lionheart, The Swarm).
Two examples come to mind. Capricorn One and The Great Train Robbery are two movies that are not exactly household names today, but are dominated by two of Goldmith's finest main themes. The City of Prague Philharmonic come through with terrific renditions. And there are plenty of other strong performances...a few being concert versions conducted by Goldsmith himself. Suprisingly, "The Wind and the Lion" works, which is no small accomplishment given the ferentic original performance of "Raisuli Attacks".
It's not a complete success. A few of the performances fall flat, particularly some of the more inventive scores. Total Recall is just bad, mangling the performance with poor percussion and synthesizer choices to boot. Also a letdown is the Klingon Attack from the first Star Trek movie. The Prague Philhamonic attempt doesn't sound bad--it's just that once you've heard the original soundtrack's "blaster beam" with enough bass to rattle your teeth...well let's just say Silva's version is a little tinny in comparison.
But I shouldn't dwell on the negative. Overall, this is a strong sampler of Goldsmith's variety. There are plenty of quality performances here, and despite a few omissions (noticeably Planet of the Apes)this is a very good release from Silva.
Jerry Goldsmith - 40 years of pleasure.......2006-02-22
Almost the perfect compilation.......2005-12-31
However, as sweepig as it is, there are a few holes in the selection. "First Contact", one of the sweetest and richest compositions from the Star Trek is absent. "The Ghost and the Darkness" is missing and the "Medicine Man" music should include the theme song. By dwelling on several selections from the Blue Max, these were squeezed out. Three full and important movie themes got the axe.
However, all but "The Ghost and the Darkness" are readily available and not overly expensive as is the "Ghost" CD. This is a must have for the TV and movie music fan.
Before there was Hans Solo there was Napolean Solo, before ER there was Dr. Kildare. Jerry Goldsmith IS Sci-Fi. "Resistance is futile.. you MUST assimilate this CD collection."

Some little gems there that I had forgotten!.......2007-03-30
I found it to be a very good selection overall, but I felt too much had already been heard on TV, which of course is what lots of newcomers to classical music might appreciate. I managed to find about 2 hours of tracks that I wanted to keep, which works out quite expensive per disc, but I did find some wonderful music I had completely forgotten about, so it was worth it. All in all, it represents good value, and I have only knocked one star off as so much of it had been used in adverts.
It is definitely a good introduction to classical music, and it has made me want to listen to more of it, so I don't regret this 'expensive' purchase one bit!
Classical Masterpieces of the Millennium [20 CD Set]
A very helpful collection.......2007-03-24
To criticize the set for not containing more composers, or more than just snippets of those who are in the set, is missing the point: it is a helpful introduction to finding your way in the huge maze of classical music. It succeeds admirably in this.
Sound quality is uniformly very good on an audiophile system.
Highly recommended.
Excellent!.......2007-03-08

"A pissed-off, 32-year-old divorcé's version of This Year's Model" is what Elvis Costello once called this 1986 noise-pop masterpiece. Following the foray into acoustic roots music that informed the heartbroken King of America, Costello immediately redubbed himself Napoleon Dynamite for songwriting and DIY-cover-painting credits, teamed again with the Attractions and producer Nick Lowe, and headed for the figurative garage. Spattered with bad love and strange dreams, nervy Beatles "tributes" (the deranged "I Want You" held the same end-of-side-1 place on the original LP as John Lennon's namesake ode to Yoko did on Abbey Road), and blurt after blurt of bent tunefulness, Blood & Chocolate was for all that an exceedingly artful, criminally ignored album. "Someday they'll probably make a movie out of all of this," Costello sings on the penultimate "Poor Napoleon." "There won't even have to be a murder, just a slow, dissolving kiss." Rhino's remastered edition adds a disc of bonus tracks, including the fabulous Sir Douglas Quintet homage "Baby's Got a Brand New Hairdo" and five solo acoustic performances of soul and country nuggets that bring the set full circle to King's stylistic core. --Rickey WrightAlbum Description

I love Elvis Costello..........2007-01-12
Great CD.......2006-03-04
One Of His Best Made Better.......2005-09-08
Fans of Costello will love this album. Newbies trying to get into his work, however, would be better off starting with Armed Forces or This Years Model.
Great, but..........2005-08-30
"Uncomplicated" - I didn't like this version at all the first time I heard it after the live versions, but listening to the album several times in one night it started to grow on me. I still miss the excellent guitar solo that trails off into the rest of the sounds until it's hard to tell what's going on. Also, it's not sung quite as good this way.
"I Hope You're Happy Now" - As said, not so angry as I wanted it, Elvis said the couple years going by put some humor in it, but I didn't think it would work as a funny song. It's like pop music here! I have yet to hear a live version, but I have high hopes.
"Tokyo Storm Warning" - This one's a gem. You'd think a song with one chord until the short last line of the chorus where it finally changes would get repetitive. Repetitive, technically yes, but boring or tiresome, not in the slightest. Excellent song with excellent lyrics and imagery. Everyone likes to use the word 'travelogue' whenever possible, so I guess I should too. The best travelogue since "I'm Mandy, Fly Me".
"Home Is Anywhere You Hang your Head" - This song speaks to me in ways few have - almost literally, but that's another story. As I said, I don't mind the slower songs on this album not being power ballads, because that would just suck. I like this song a lot.
"I Want You" - So many fans rave about this being so great. You ain't heard nothing if you ain't heard it live. I've got the I Never Talked To Jim Reeves CD, and that version absolutely murders this one. It just doesn't have the exceptional acoustic intro which is the most redeeming thing about this version.
"Honey Are You Straight Or Are You Blind" - This is actually practically the same song as "Mystery Dance" if you look at it musically, which is a good thing. The only problem I have with is maybe the keyboards on the intro should have been played a bit lower. It doesn't sound so pleasing to me, but that's just me. Otherwise, it's a good rock n' roll song like they used to make 'em. Live version is kind of interchangeable; no marked improvement.
"Blue Chair" - Pop music! It doesn't really sound bad, but the version on Live In Memphis is SO much better, I can hardly believe.
"Battered Old Bird" - Excellent song, sung very well. It feels like something is missing when I think about it, but when I'm listening to it I've got no complaints.
"Crimes Of Paris" - In many ways the "Jack Of All Parades" of this album. I love this song for so many reasons. It's catchy and melodic, it's got good lyrics, Cait O'Riordan's voice sounds heavenly in the last line of the chorus, but I really prefer the version on the bonus disc. It keeps closer in line with my feelings of what the album should be, despite the only real difference being he plays it on a barely distorted electric guitar and it doesn't have the vocal overdubs. I really only miss Cait's voice on it. Otherwise it is excellent. Oh, and I don't understand what all the "Oh Oh Oh Oh"s are for in the middle section.
"Poor Napolean" - Somebody said this is the only song that slows down the album. Not true. It's a good song, probably Steve Nieve's only noteworthy appearance with the cool organ, but that's not his fault (Elvis wanted this to be a guitar record and asked him to basically play rhythm, which he said was hard for Steve to do. An excellent player like him show some self restraint, especially when he'd always been allowed to go mad scientist on all the old albums? Poor Steve!). It sounds suitably murky from the recording setting. The thing that gets me is this almost makes it seem like there's some kind of story in the album, but there really isn't, but I want there to be. Maybe they should make a movie of all this.
"Next Time Round" - Another song that's catchy and kind of rocky, but the song never promised to rock my socks off like "Uncomplicated" so I'm not mad. A very suitable end for the album.
Highlights of the bonus disc:
On the bonus disc it really carries the feeling of the color red of the album cover. Does anyone know what I mean? It just feels red. The solo songs he plays at the end feel very combustable, despite their only difference from any other time Elvis plays solo being that he plays it on a pretty clean sounding electric guitar. "Leave My Kitten Alone" isn't actually very much different from the Kojak Variety version, but for some reason it is so much better, giving The Beatles' version a run for its money. It's that red feeling I think and the grittiness that comes with it. "New Rhythm Method" and "Forgive Her Anything" are excellent and all three of these songs would have fit in on the album perfectly. I'm not sure why "Baby's Got A Brand New Hairdo" is here and not on King Of America's bonus disc other than for time extension. Don't argue with me that it's because The Attractions play on it, because it was recorded during the King Of America sessions with The Attractions. The single version of "Blue Chair" is just incomprehensible to me, what with those weird and unnecessary overdubs. I wish the original version without them was either included here or on the King Of America disc. I'm not sure why they did "Uncomplicated" as they did, but whatever. You get to hear what "Battered Old Bird" would sound like if it were fast which is... interesting. I don't know, some people apparently really like it a lot that way, but don't be surprised if you like the original better. This twilight version of "American Without Tears" expands upon the lyrics of one of Elvis's best songs, though it doesn't really sound much like the original. I'm just happy for a continuation of a great song and I'll just imagine the second version being done the way the original was. This solo version of "Running Out Of Fools" is actually better than the one on Kojak Variety, in my opinion, though I'm not sure if the version of "Pouring Water On A Drowning Man" found on that album can be surpassed. All in all, this whole set is great, thus the five stars, great songs and some good, worthwhile bonus material, it's just not what I was expecting from reviews, interviews, and alternate performances, and I just thought I'd say it.
A GREAT RE-WORK BY RHINO, BUT..........2005-01-23
I will defer to all the laudatory comments listed here.
I had one comment, however, regarding this new version by Rhino vs. the previous, also-excellent version by Rykodisc.
The final track on the Ryko CD was "A Town Called Big Nothing (Really Big Nothing)", a wonderful, 5-minute+ little gem that Costello originally wrote for a Alex Cox film that featured some amazing Spanish guitar playing by Costello, accompanied by his father on trumpet.
However, it is NOT included on the new Rhino CD. This is a curious and unfortunate omission, so all of you Costello fans out there who are rushing out to replace your Ryko discs, FYI!
Perhaps Rhino will include it on one of the future Costello releases.

Cream always flows to the top !.......2006-08-12
I, along with the court of justice do believe Micheal does not have a bad bone in his body, the fact that he needs kids around him is perfectly natural, because kids are sincere, this is wat he Michael and eveyone else needs to stay in touch with reality.
Thanks Michael for all the happy memories your music has brought us and hopefully will for a long time to come.
Who's Bad ?

Michael Jackson's Dance on The Blooded Floor: 2 stars.......2006-07-18
Blood On The Dancefloor is mainly to be regarded as an EP or a remix album, consisting of 5 ordinary songs and 8 remixes. The title track and the first single Blood On The Dancefloor is a funky up-tempo song with a fusion of keyboard and teasing synthesizers. Despite being released as the opening single, the song was hardly among Jackson's finest material. In fact, Blood On The Dancefloor even sounded dated in 1997 and it has certainly not aged very well. I always found that the song bore a resemblance to the Dangerous album in terms of sound. Perhaps the material on the Blood on the Dancefloor album was written for that particular album or during the same time period. However, the gruelling theme continues as the song Morphine reveals a character completely obsessed with the drug. The soft and hunting verses are a contrast to the sturdier choruses, yet surprisingly it works quite well. Superfly Sister is Michael Jackson's attempt to simulate Prince; however the repetitive, dull baseline is an unwelcome addition. Similar to the lead single, Superfly Sister suffers from the syndrome of ¨dated-ness¨. Ghosts and Is It Scary are enjoyable songs; however they are not among Jackson's greatest works. Notably, Is It Scary is a lovely track especially due to the shift between the soft verses and the tougher choruses. I considered it the best song among the 5 ordinary songs on the album. The remaining 8 songs/remixes are a Tour De Force of dance remixes. Generally, I do not like remixes, however the remix of 2 Bad, Scream-Louder and HIStory are not half-bad. Yet the remixes of the remaining songs leave a lot to be desired.
Blood On The Dancefloor is primarily an indulgence for hardcore Michael Jackson fans. The few ordinary songs are pleasant, however they are not on par with Michael Jackson's back-catalogue. If you like remixes in generally, I am positive the remixes on the album would surely appeal to you. If you have recently discovered Michael Jackson's music, I would advise you to purchase Number Ones or The Essential Michael Jackson in order to fully grasp the back-catalogue of Jackson.

RED BLOODED MONSTER--JACKO.......2006-07-16
THIS ALBUM DO NOT HAVE QUANTITY BUT THE THING IS THAT THIS HAS QUALITY ONLY ONE SINGLE--BOTDF IS SUFFICIENT TO MAKE THIS ALBUM WORTH A WHILE
GO GET THIS ALBUM AND BE PROUD TO HAVE SUCH COMPILATIONS
great!! .......2005-12-12
Well, the thing is that I don't like remixes but there is one that's definitely good. That's the remix of track 'HIStory'.
Now on to the new stuff. MJ really did well by choosing 5 new tracks because it convinced me that his every song is different and innovative.
BOTDF, as fans often call it, has the
title track on it: this is an echo-filled, strong, blood-red composition of dance with a bit of techno, soul and rock. This is unique if you believe me.
I enjoyed it through a whole summer when I watched
the video for it every day!
MJ proves that he is a good and.. an even better dancer. A real surprise. Even a friend of mine who is far from being an MJ-fan, told me that he finds MJ a better dancer than he'd done before.
SUPERFLY SISTER is a rap-like but still strangely soulful track with a catchy beat and a great 'east coast' feeling I like very much. It's got a message, listen up!
GHOSTS is a great r&b song that is solid, consistent and you can easily get hooked on the melody. The video is awesome, too. I bet!
IS IT SCARY: brother of the previous one. Jackson's best vocal achievement since 1995's 'Smile' and before 2001's 'Unbreakable'. An r&b-based song that grows to a pop hymn - without a hymnical feature.
MORPHINE: This is I think MJ's most unique song ever, quite the 'Musicology' for him. This is fully composed & ordered by him, he even plays the instruments.
The song mixes an acid and steely beat with innovative vocal elements of metal and even a Jackson-style rap. So a closed composition emerges.
I hated Morphine first. But now I see it as a kind of masterpiece.
OK. Don't buy it. It's mess.
But I bet you still do. Enjoy!

Album Description
Their latest record follows a brief two-year hiatus and is their most diverse album in the past ten years. Angry and other times haunting vocals are forged to incessant beats, permeating melodies, and relentless bass lines. Fans of The Cure will love "Crushed", while experienced VAC listeners will appreciate the intensity of "Wound" and "Lust", at the same time finding a slightly different vocal style in "Parasite". "Lust For Blood" proves that VAC hasn't even begun to tap into the innovations they're capable of, even with a decade of musical experience under their belt.Customer Reviews:

Product Description
The haunting and versatile soprano voice of Michelle Belanger creates a wicked alchemy with the brooding and atmospheric orchestrations that have made Nox Arcana renowned in the realm of Gothic music. Timeless lyrics weave through rich layers of melody, telling stories of lost love and forbidden passion, drawing upon the ancient myth of Watcher Angels who abandoned Heaven for a taste of mortal love.Customer Reviews:
Haunting Gothic themes occasionally overdone.......2007-07-03
None of the songs are BAD, but in some I was honestly reminded of almost comically overblown poser Goth poetry. These kinds of songs shouldn't honestly make me want to laugh at their sheer pretentiousness, should they? The poetry angle that seems to be most of the inspiration for the songs makes for fairly simplistic melodies. There's nothing wrong with that, and I thoroughly enjoyed at least half the songs on this CD, but some of them rate more in the tedious category than haunting or inspiring.
My advice, buy this on the cheap if you need some inspiration for your next Vampire: The Masquerade game, or your next delving into the world of Goth.
Interesting theme, Horrid vocals.......2007-06-18
The lyrics enclosed were interesting, and may have made pretty good musical listening if someone else with talent and/or training had been singing.
Not Bad.......2007-05-17
Rebirth.......2007-01-16
Astounding!.......2006-10-18
The lovely voice of author Michelle Belanger is given full reign here, from powerful chants to amazing octave ranges, surpassing Nightwish and Evanescence's superb work. If you like love Nox Arcana and ambient music, Michelle's debut will leave you breathless. Fans of Phantom of the Opera will fall in love songs such as Bitter Ashes, one of my favorites. The title track however is a piece de resistance, with its layered vocals and emotional chorus.
Highly recommended- Corvis Nocturnum
