Customer Reviews:
My first Bonnie Raitt.......2007-01-12
Bought this when I was a kid back in the 70's and it has always been one of my favorites. Since I don't have "albums" anymore, I just had to buy the CD. I love all of Bonnie Raitt's music, but this CD will always top my list.
It shines like the stars above Laredo!.......2002-08-02
I bought this cd because a friend sang "Bright and Shiny Eyes" to me and I loved it. The whole cd is great, soulful, fun. I play "Bright and Shiny Eyes" incessantly--it is wistful and would make anyone nostalgic for their own long-gone days.
The Best of Bonnie.......2002-04-28
I have loved Bonnie Raitt for decades, and I have most of her albums. This one may be the best - because each song is not only a wonderfully written piece of music, but it is performed & recorded beautifully - especially great considering this was made in the mid-70's. Several poignant ballads ( I'm Blowing Away is one), and a number of hot blues tunes too make it a good mixture as well.....Grab it - you won't regret it, I know!
Groovy.......2001-08-10
Well, that was just one word that came to mind. Of all Bonnie's albums, and there are plenty now, I come back to this one time after time. Songs like "Good Enough" and "Walk Out the Front Door" are definitely groovy enough to make you want to dress up in something from the seventies and dance rather embarrassingly. Just remember to tone it down for some of Bonnie's most aching ballads, like the impossibly perfect "Run Like a Thief", and the sumptuous, almost Streisand-esque "My First Night Alone Without You". "I'm Blowin' Away" is another one. It's hard to choose a favourite, but they all have that ability to tug on you and make you part of the song. I defy anyone not to sing along to just about every track, right up to the simple bar-room singalong of "Sweet and Shiny Eyes", the perfect ending to one of my favourite albums of all time.
The Best.......2000-05-03
This was the album that got me thru all the broken love affairs of my youth. Broke my first copy and bought another that day. Now I don't have a record player and must have the CD. My favorite of all her brilliant albums

Customer Reviews:
Beautifully Made, not the best selections.......2002-04-27
The theme music from Morse was my reason for buying this CD, and I was not disappointed. The CD gives the viewer the opening theme and the slightly longer closing theme (2:10 and 2:32, respectively).
I wasn't overly impressed with the other musical selections on the CD. They certainly are representative of music from the Morse television series, but the pieces selected didn't show a wide variety. And the original music composed specifically for the series never reaches the same level as the Morse Theme.
But the CD quality is excellent, and Morse fans who collect the music from the series won't be disappointed. This CD delivers what it promises.
great stuff.......2002-01-16
this cd is worth buying just for the morse theme tune.
This cd evokes the show and Morse, himself........2000-10-10
I have been playing this cd, in repeat mode, for up to 6 hours a day at my office for many months. The music on this volume is more varied than on volume 2. It is the variety of classical music and the haunting and evocative theme that make this cd so extraordinary. This is the only cd I ever play that contains opera. Needless to say I yearn for more Morse shows, but in their absence I can make do with this cd.
Wonderful, relaxing, evocative soundtrack.......1999-05-04
We are in the process of ordering this CD plus Volumes 2 and 3 (which we have not yet heard). We had earlier purchased Cadfael -- another British TV series soundtrack, and this reminds us of that one. Very different style of music, but absolutely wonderful and uplifting to listen to.
