Though he managed a string of early successes, Art's post-Simon & Garfunkel career has been marked by sporadic releases and a seeming indifference to the often-difficult vagaries of the music business. It's that bleak background that makes this release such a warm and pleasant surprise. Garfunkel seems an artist who responds best to the challenges of creative collaboration, and producer Billy Mann has provided him with a sterling pair--singers Maia Sharp and Buddy Mondlock, of L.A. and Nashville, respectively. With the trio's harmonies locking into a familiar, seamless fusion, the resulting album is the freshest music Garfunkel's recorded in years and, conversely, from the opening guitar chords of the joyous "Bounce," a welcome reclaiming of a glorious musical legacy that was rightfully half his in the first place. The ghost of that legendary past doesn't so much haunt this record as breathe a resonant sense of place (New York City) and history (Art's life) into it. Also noteworthy are six songs that mark the singer's first recorded attempts at songwriting, the best of which stand comparison with the best of his fabled S&G canon. --Jerry McCulley

5 out of 5 stars I'm So Glad I Noticed .......2007-03-05

I looked at this because of Art Garfunkel, as I have always found his solo recordings pleasurable. I bought this after listening to a few snippets of the tunes available because I liked the general tone of the pieces. I enjoy it for those two reasons, but wasn't expecting the overwhelming satisfaction I've gotten from this CD. I'd never heard the other two performers before, and am glad I've found two "new" (for me, anyway) musicians. I've since purchased all three of Maia Sharp's available recordings. Buddy Mondlock's "The Kid" is a delightful song, and the lyrics remind me of days passed. It was also a treat getting some of Art's own work for the first time. Several of the numbers evoke vivid visual experiences for me. I haven't felt this good about something relatively new in a long time. I'd love to hear another effort from these three folks.

5 out of 5 stars Pop/Folk Perfection.......2006-10-10

It's been a long time since I've heard 3 voices effortlessly work together to create something so special; Sure, there are some 'la la' type songs here, but there is alot of material here with both considerable lyrical and musical depth; Every song offers something unique; 'Bounce' is pop perfection, while 'The Kid' offers a heartfelt story of missed opportunities and lost love. I know it sounds corny, but Art Garfunkel is one of the few people who can pull off such a feat. And with the addition of Maia Sharp and Buddy Mondlock, he has assembled a flawless pop/folk/country/bluegrass offering. I was so impressed with this album; And while there are 2 songs on this CD I can't stand, I still call it a perfect album for what it is trying to be. Very relaxing after a long day...Great production, too. Every time I listen through headphones I hear a new layer of harmonies or a gently spoken phrase off in the distance; This is obviously an album created with a love of music and a passion for all that is life. And no, I haven't been drinking. That's just how I see it...

5 out of 5 stars I can't say enough about this album.......2005-11-26

I found myself playing the songs back in my head in the morning. That hasn't happend to me for 10 years. Stunning. Beautiful. Capable of generating goose-bumps. His best work. In some of his earlier work he laid down tracks on top of himself to build the harmonies, which was effective but did not have the emotion and contrast that Ms. Sharp brings. Definitely the best album I have purchased in over a year.

5 out of 5 stars Cudos to Art ! Best Effort to Date !!!.......2005-11-03

First caught these three on " Live from the Bluebird Cafe ".When I bought the CD and listented to it for the first time I thought,Umm,kind of bland .After listening a few more times, all I can say is EXCELLENT !!! Excellent lyrics!! Excellent melodies!! Excellent Harmonies !! I hope these three pair up again ! Once more for the record EXCELLENT !!!

5 out of 5 stars The Signature Of Art.......2005-08-02

They say that when painters put their brush to the canvas,a certain energy flows out of their fingertips, through the brush and into the paint.Over time as the painter masters this craft-the energy becomes visable to the naked eye and it clearly resides in the the colors brushstroked on the canvas. This concept clearly defines the wonderful gift of ART GARFUNKEL. Without a doubt there have been many great singers in the history of popular music, but what makes Mr. Garfunkel stand out among the rest,is his gift of great craftsmanship.Mr. Garfunkel is one of those very few singers who knows how to sign his voice to a song.Every song he has ever chosen to sing, he has embraced in such a way that it has always come as a surprise to the listener that he didn't write the song. But what is no surprise, are the songs that he continues to chose to sing throughout his musical career.Carefully choosing rich and meaningful songs from such outstanding songwriters such as(Paul Simon,Jimmy Webb,Mike Batts and Stephen Bishop)just to name a few.
Therefore, it is no accident that Mr. Garfunkel chose Billy Mann to produce "Everything Waits To Be Noticed".Nor is it any accident that the great talents-Buddy Mondlock aand Maria Sharp have joined him in this project.Like a master woodworker who knows when a wood will work with another and when it won't- they harmoniously weave together different styles of sound evoking feelings of love and joy to feelings of empathy and self reflection. Each song is carefully threaded together by colorful rhythmic melodies and deep meaningful lyrics (some of which have been composed by Mr. Garfunkel himself).
Obviously these recordings are not meant for somone who approaches music as something you chew on till the flavor is gone and then trade in for the cut-outs.To appeciate such original music takes more than being able to hear it requires the ability to LISTEN.
Encountering such music as this is not unlike making a new acquaintance that quietly evolves into a deep and meaningful relationship. That leaves you feeling in a way that can only be descibed in the words that Henery Van Dyke once said"Be glad of life because it gives you a chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars".

    Album Description

Full title - Everything Waits To Be Noticed. Japanese edition of 2002 album includes a bonus track 'Perfect Moment' (Acoustic Version). As half of Simon & Garfunkel & as a solo act he has sold millions of records. 'Everything Waits To Be Noticed', a wholly new experience that, in the words of Jann Wenner 'combines elements of everything from the surging folk-pop of Buckingham/Nicks-era Fleetwood Mac to the crisp folk-rock sorcery of the Mamas & the Papas to the deft vocal-jazz direction of the Manhattan Transfer. But, above all, a startlingly original chemistry'.
