What a band.......2005-08-03

It's quite the pity that Vaya Con Dios never took off in the USA. I'm waiting for the day that we hear foreign songs on American radio, just like you hear American songs on European, African, South American and Asian radio.

Almost all of these songs are in English. This band is absolutely fantastic and if you're in the mood for stellar songs, great vocals and impeccable musicianship, start with their greatest hits.

I haven't met a person who wouldn't love this cd, I believe this music is enjoyable to people of any age and gender. This album is an emotional rollercoaster, you can listen to it whether you're happy or sad. I've been a fan for many years and never tire of Vaya Con Dios.

I've known Vaya Con Dios for 10 years and they've always made great music. The first song I've heard was Nah Neh Nah and it was a major hit in my country. I decided then to buy a CD - it was Night Owls, their second one. This CD contains their best singles and though I miss some tunes here, the CD is perfect.

It starts off with sinles from their first album, then continues with Night Owls, in the end there's Time Flies and some new songs composed for this album. Singer Dani Klein has a beautiful and I must say erotic voice that brings warmth to your soul. You can listen to this compilation whenever you want to, it always suits your mood. Though the perfect time to listen to it is driving on a sea coast on a hot summer day. That's what we did last summer on the Croatian coast and it is an experience I'll never forget - the music, the rocks, the sea,...

I suggest everyone who hasn't ever heard of Vaya Con Dios that they listen to this CD and then buy all the others. This is quality music that stands the test of time. And you'll never ever get bored of it.

I'vce heard the scurrilous lie that says the only things of any interest about Belgium are the ubiquitous Brussel Sprout, the site of the Battle of Waterloo, and Audrey Hepburn.

Well - let's add Vaya Con Dios to that list, folks. I've been a fan for some time, and just got my copy of the "Greatest Hits' CD in. I've listened to it twice, and it's spinning for the third time. I've owned it three hours.

It's great. Much better than Brussel Sprouts. Buy anything by Vaya Con Dios, and you will make yourself extraordinarily happy. These people deserve fame and fortune... get in and help give it to them.

Many people listen to the music while socializing, doing hous wprk, driving... this almbum is, however, one of those that you put in your CD player, dim the lights, sit back and enjoy the harmony of instruments and hipnotizing voice of the singer. i listen to all kinds of music, so i recommend this album to everyone!

This CD shows a very unique, wonderful band. Their songs remind me of a smoky Montmartre neighbourhood in some Toulouse-Lautrec atmosphere from the thirties. It is obvieus that leadsinger Dana Klein is fascinated by French singer Edith Piaf, especially in songs circling around the everlasting theme: Man leaves woman, what is she going to do now? But Vaya Con Dios is not only a nostalgic retro band, with their latin rhythms and the underlying pop tunes it is, well, one of the best bands of this decade - and they're from Belgium!

Frank Zappa 101. As close as anyone has come to a definitive greatest hits set, Strictly Commercial manages to encapsulate much, if not most, of a career that deliberately defied any such attempts. This is the most accessible single collection of Zappa's music available, containing familiar ditties such as "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow," "Joe's Garage," and the radio hit, "Valley Girl." Those skeptical of his guitar work will most certainly find the included selections, "Sexual Harassment in the Workplace," "I'm the Slimeand," "Muffin Man" to be educational. This is a collection of the "best" of Frank Zappa. Or, more accurately, the most "commercial" music from a decidedly non-commercial performer. Zappa's only "real" hit was "Valley Girl", although "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" and "Dancin' Fool" managed to achieve moderate success. All of these songs could be classified as "novelty" songs, which would probably tend to be the most accesible type of music Zappa recorded. Almost all of the songs here have at least some humour to them, other than the instrumetals, naturally. Some may complain that this CD doesn't explore a wide enough range of Zappa's music, but it is a good introduction to his music for the uninitiated. I find it thoroughly enjoyable.

frank Zappa could just be the greatest musician on the planet. this was the first Zappa cd I bought and trust me, worth every dollar.

Pros: Get a good diversity of Zappa's music; understand why everyone who listens to him loves him; great place to start if you haven't really heard any other Zappa music.

Cons:
2 of the songs are radio edits; they pick a couple of his pretty bad zappa songs (Be in my Video, Fine Girl); I wish they had some more of the European hits (bobby brown).

Even with the cons it is still worth getting. GO BUY IT!!!!!!!

For Beginners Only.......2006-09-09

I got this album for the single versions, but wasn't too impressed with the tracklist. It's Zappa, so it's cool.
Instead, i'd start with this, then freak out, then overnite sensation/apostrophe' if you can find it. and go from there you beginners, but i would NOT start with francesco zappa,hot rats, joe's garage or sleep dirt, or any of his more avant garde type material, start easier, kids.

If you don't know about Zappa, this is a great place to start. If you don't find something you like on this disk, give it up and get some pop, soft rock, boy band music or whatever. This doesn't go into his very bizzare jazz or ochestral stuff, but does give you a definite flavor to his maniacal genius musicianship. Also, don't get it if you are easily offended. I think he goes out of his way to try and offend everyone equally. Not your usual run of the mill radio... in fact Valley Girl is the only song I had ever heard before buying this, but now I'm on the hunt for more! An acquired taste to say the least.
