Time to Lay Back.......2006-04-14

Ok after getting locked tightly in the vice that is The Mars Volta just over half a month ago I needed more. Yesterday I bought this album along with Tremulant, and Scab Dates.

This album is a very awesome chill-out record, I can play this on forever and just kick back, it has very nice drumming,Keys and great effects killer Basslines. Megaton Shotblast knows how to hook you in,and keep you in.

De Facto is the strange precurssor to The Mars Volta.

Ikey Owens and later Eva Gardner, it was so tremendous a change was needed Thus The Volta was born out of De Facto.
Shortly after the Form of The Mars Volta Jeremy Ward Passed away and Eva Gardner Left the band. The core members of Defacto still carry on strong minus the late mr.Ward
The Mars Volta is in essence Defacto.

THE GENIUSES COME OUT WITH ANOTHER MASTERPIECE..........2006-03-15

Omar and Cedric, from the Mars Volta and AT the drive in, are in this strange latin jazz and reggae experimental band called De Facto. This album is pure experimental music with is sugar coated in latin and reggae influences. It is amazing. But i highly recomend buying, Relationship to Comand, Deloused, Scab Dates, Frances to the mute, maybe one of Omar Rodriguez solo albums before buying this. You should probably buy one of the above before listening to this, to get it. Because Omar and Cedric have a certain style which is hard to get. I give this album 4 stars because it is really good, but it is missing one star because it is just not fufilling for a mars volta fan who wants to hear cedric and omar smashing things and making "progressive rock" this is another side of there talent, and is highly recomended.

ANOTHER MASTERPIECE FROM THIS GUYS.......2005-09-12

Jeremy Michael Ward really was an amazing artist, as so are, Omar, Cedric and Owens. If you like experimental stuff and are searching for something, weirdly amazing, get this album, simply a masterpiece.

First Off...This ain't no ATDI kiddies. Not even close. There are similarities to The Mars Volta, but a lot more worldy. Latin/Salsa, Reggae/Dub, and a whole lot of experimenting run rampant throughout the 10 tracks of Megaton Shotblast. You really have to have an open mind before checking these guys out. But, if you are into the aforementioned genres, then I would definitely reccommend them!

I do like dub, don't get me wrong. But this screams out "I was made by white guys with dread locks and hacky sacks." although the masterminds behind this project are of hispanic heritage.

There isn't much amazing material here that hasn't been done in dub already. There are various "sampled" bits that aren't actually samples according to the back of the cd case and there are lots of random synthesizer sounds layed over very cliched dub reggae jams. I applaud the band for putting together such a good jam album but it will NOT appeal to everyone. Don't get me wrong. I love the Mars Volta and you can see some similarities between the two but this is an honest review.

Don't buy this album because you loved "Relationship of Command" or the new Mars Volta single on MTV, you won't listen to it more than once.
