4 out of 5 stars Rock N' Soul/Beat N' Soul.......2006-11-04

Great music! The Everlys' harmonies shine through clearly on this album.

5 out of 5 stars this is very golden good rock n roll that I highly recommend.......2005-10-26

I have waited 4O years to get these fabulous recordings on cd !
two original albums from early 60's are there + some bonus tracks.a few months after "it's everly time" and "date with the Everly brothers" which were masterpieces here are again past golden recordings by the Evs.inside this set are two original albums r n soul and b n soul.the first is musicaly very good (but unfortunately sound quality is by far under the level of previous warner recordings and that new cd edition does not solve the issue, now we know it came from the original masters unfortunately) while the second deserves more than 5 stars it should be 6 or 7 (amazon please open a new scale !) both for music and sound quality. if you like the evs when they are rocking you'll be jumping on your feet during all tracks : ALL are perfect, the evs voices are very strong dominating a band... but what a band ! it's just dynamite, see the names mentioned above by previous reviewer and that's the dream team !those who saw the evs on stage many times may have seen some "slow" and flying shows (so sad and slepless nights style) or "rocking" shows (both perfect dreams in my mind) and this (B n s) is indeed the rocking side of the everlys in full youth and strength ! rush to buy this double cd set as you won't find these cds available for a long time ! thank you warner uk that you put this box at last on the shelves just before Don and Phil are back for a tour in UK !
And I'll be there dreaming they will sing "man with money" while in Oxford ! Thierry Cordonnier

5 out of 5 stars great everly sound.......2005-10-20

If any one wants proof of the everly influence on the beatles this cd provides the proof. Amazon needs to hire someone to do correct editorials, if your looking for the greatest hits like cathys clown and bye bye love this isn't the album. What you get here is James Burton, Glen Campbell, and Sonny Curtis; bassist Larry Knechtel; drummer Jim Gordon; Leon Russell, and Billy Preston backing the everlys on there takes of some classics from the 50's and 60's. Man with money alone should have been a hit.Beat and soul was in my opinion one of the best albums the everlys did and certainly the closest thing to straight rock they ever did. a great deal for two albums in one.

5 out of 5 stars Aphrodite is not the NATURAL BORN CHILLERS!.......2004-03-25

I'm glad to hear that people still listen to and try to track down CHILLERS tunes. Look out for Chillers under the names of A.V, AUDIO VANDAL on NEW BREED RECORDINGS, DUB VANDALZ on white labels and VANDALZ INK on FAT RECORDS. 1 last thing.... All be it on URBAN TAKEOVER that is the only link Aphrodite has to the NATURAL BORN CHILLERS. We made the tune and signed it to his label, you will see that BADASS was released at the same time, ROCK THE FUNKY BEATS outsold this tune of Aphrodite's tenfold plus. We have a new mix of ROCK THE FUNKY BEATS coming this year, so look out for it.... If anyone wants to email the CHILLERS or any of the NEW BREED FAMILY contact us on info@newbreedrecordings

3 out of 5 stars An eclectic amassing of the evolving jungle/drumnbass sound.......1999-09-09

Sampling the vocals of Chuck D from Public Enemy, Natural Born Chillers add a level of rawness that one misses from the early 90's days of jungle (rawness that is altogether vacant from the current evolutionary genre of drum and bass). Although the beat falls into an unsophisticated any-4-year-old-with-a-drum-machine march that chugs along with an ever so perky bass riff, it's that vocal track that brings you back. On paper, "If you really like to rock the funky beat" sounds simplistic, lame, embarrassingly passe even, but Chuck D's almost hoarse rap, processed to become an almost rhythmic element unto itself, would make even the most jaded and well-versed DJ hard pressed to not sing/rap along...Plus with some surprising mixxes that have no family resemblence whatsoever to the original track/

5 out of 5 stars Rolling Basslines.......1998-12-31

I remember hearing this really cool jungle track at a party some time ago. It made me feel like i was floating. I later found out that it was "Reaching Out" by Natural Born Chillers. I searched and searched and could never find it, not even on vinyl. When i found this CD, the name of it screamed out at me. I knew that it had to be good...and i was right. Natural Born Chillers have serious talent. The bass never stops booming and the breakbeats never stop rolling. There is an Urban Takeover mix (Aphrodite), and two speed garage remixes by 187 Lockdown. But the best track is at the end of the CD, "Rollin' With the Chillers." If you are a jungle lover, or even just an electronic music lover, you must buy this CD because you need to hear this track. It is so fresh and chilled out, while it is hard and fast at the same time. It is the prototype of atmospheric drum'n'bass. Sometimes I wonder if Natural Born Chillers is actually Aphrodite using a different name. The song formats are almost identical: intro, bass and beats, breakdown, bringin' it all together, then each element tapers off while nearing the end. Think about it.

5 out of 5 stars A classic.......1998-09-29

I brought this single just before they took it off the shelves for some reason I definately recomend it.
