Billy Talent delivers a rock-intensive and at times eclectic disc that highlights the group's inability to write songs that have depth or elements of surprise. True, "In The Fall" has a hook that's as catchy as a soccer anthem and the anti-scenester rant "The Red Flag" proves excitingly attitudinal and carries with it a spot on Clash-meets-Green Day vibe; "Falling Leaves" and "Perfect World" demonstrate the unit's knack for crafting ear-perking opening riffs. But each of those tunes--and virtually all those found on II (save the closing "Burn The Evidence")--run out of gas by the end of the first chorus which is consistently placed as close to the front of the track as possible. I absolutely loved Billy Talent I and when they announced II was coming out, I could hardly wait. And it didn't let me down. Ben's vocals are amazing and so is the rest of the band. My favorite song being The Navy Song. Has anyone else noticed that Billy Talent has a number of sea themed songs (Beachballs, The Navy Song, Line & Sinker) Just something to think about. Anyways Billy Talent is amazing, they're the best punk thing out there right now. Woot.

Good Follow Up From The Toronto Quartet.......2007-01-12

Billy Talent finally swings the bat again, and if this disc isn't a home run, then it's a stand-up triple. These guys have a knack for writing catchy, original punk music with hooks that snag you twenty seconds into the song. Production quality is top-notch, musicianship is good, and the most has been made of lead singer Ben Kowalewicz's voice. "Devil In a Midnight Mass" and "Red Flag" stand out immediately, but mostly because they're the tracks that have received airplay, and have also been tapped by several video game manufacturers. Even if you put these two tracks aside, though, the deeper one gets into this CD the better appreciation you have for it.

While I do like this disc, I did find the songwriting somewhat formulaic - that doesn't make it bad, though. In fact, the group has capably built on the sound and success of their first disc. What will remain to be seen is if the quartet can come out with a third disc that will be fresh, yet still be faithful to their punk sound. The one thing they don't want to do is to fall into the Nickelback trap, and have everyone become sick of their material because it all sounds the same.

Way Good Punk Revitalization........2006-12-20

This album is an absolute home run to follow up their first one. If you haven't heard it , go to a store where CD's are sold or rented and buy it or rent it and listen to it. It is amazing. The metal feel from the intro to Devil in a Midnight Mass quickly fades into more of a punk guitar feel. The riffs from Red Flag, Sympathy, and Perfect World are great. The lyrics are the spotlight of the best album and there are some songs where they are featured again. Perfect World, Red Flag, Where is the Line, and others are all great songs. The bass really shines in Worker Bees.

Im not a kid too, but i only want to skip the bla bla bla stuff

This album is awesome because it unleashe's all the power that billy has. I prefer the second album, but this is too good for first one. I strongly recommend it has an hardcore punk metal whatever fan... A must buy, for your collection of top 10 albums, for real!!! props from PORTUGAL!

Surprisingly Awesome.......2006-12-27

I do not typically like punk rock, but I am never one to pass up a new music listening experience. I stumbled upon Billy Talent quite by accident, and now I can't stop listening to the damn CD. I recently purchased BTII, and I don't like it quite as much, despite the fact that it leans more on the rock side then it does on the punk. I definitely recommend this CD to...well, anyone. If I like it, anyone can. My favorite tracks are 'The River Below' and 'Standing in the Rain' although I must say... I like every track. The vocals are unique and rejuvenating and the music is well composed. Perhaps I say this because I'm not a punk music guru... but this CD sounds refreshingly ORIGINAL to me!

Sickk album.......2006-11-03

I thought this album was better than their latest, Billy Talent II. A LOT better. The 2nd album was kinda edging away from punk rock, and going into more "rock".

1. This Is How It Goes (11/10) Great start! I love this song! It's exciting and upbeat, and just flat out awesome. Lovethe guitar riff. The bridge isn't all that good though.

2. Living In The Shadows (7/10) Boring kinda. It's kinda repetive. Don't like it that much. I usually skip it.

3. Try Honestly (12/10) Everyone should like this song. Awesome. Chorus is just crazy.

4. Line And Sinker (8/10) Like it the first time you hear it. Then it just wears away. Fun to sing though.

5. Lies (10/10) Catchy. It's a fun and happy song.

6. The Ex (14/10) Love this song. It's my favorite Billy Talent song, and one of my favorite songs of all time. I just love the chorus alot, it's soo awesome. And the verses don't get any better. They could've made a better video though.

7. River Below (10/10) Popular song. Not too crazy about it though. It's great and catchy, and fun to sing. Just not too crazy about it.

8. Standing In The Rain (1337/10) LOLOLOLOL This is song is flatout funny! HAHAHAHA I don't even know why. lolz. It's fun to make fun of it, cuz the singing is horrible.

9. Cut The Curtains (6/10) Gets old really fast. It's boring and dull and annoying. Skip it.

10. Prisoners Of Today (11/10)Here's a good song. I like the beat, and the guitar. It's a good song, I thought it sould have been a single.

11. Nothing To Lose (13/10) Song about suicide. I think it's a really good song. Sad, and reflective.

12. Voices Of Violence (8.3/10) Don't really like this song too much. The chorus is weird. It's alright.

Overall, a great album if you skip the bad songs. I'd rate it 89/100. Good album. If you're thinking about buying Billy Talent II, get this first.

What happened to Pezz ??.......2006-07-24

Well I'v been following Billy Talent sinse they were called Pezz... I dont know if anyone really remembers that far back when they released there first album "Watoosh!". My favourite song from that album without a doubt was When I Was A Little Girl closely followed up by Bird In The Basement, they really made the band. But I have always wondered why they changed the name of their band I mean what was wrong with Pezz ?? I love Pezz they are the best lollies in the world... Who knows maybe they didn't want to be mistaken for a lolly. Anyway you guys are still high up in my charts although I beleive Billy Talent was a better album then Billy Talent II. Why ?? Because there where was way more hits on Billy Talent that could have gone all the way and there was a lot more use of Ben Harper's strange but addicting screaming. So if anyone remembers the days of Pezz and the reason for the name change please comment I would love to know.

I have this CD and it is awesome. First heard "Red Flag" on a video game (Burnout Revenge) and loved it. Bought the CD and now that song is not even in the top 5 on the CD. I like every song on the CD. Can't loose with this one.
