The Marvelous 3 is a band with an urbane name and a brand of pop-rock to match. Lead singer and guitarist Butch Walker often sings suspended notes in a timbre resonating heavily with nasal Bowie-ness. Drummer Slug and bassist Jayce follow suit with riffs that stop just short of grungy aggression, tempered with a polished reserve. Sound like the perfect Brit band? You'd say yes when you hear how Walker rounds out his words with proper British diction. But this trio from Atlanta would have you fooled. Maybe they're poseurs? Who cares. With lyrics cheekier than Ben Folds's and hooks far more memorable than Third Eye Blind's or Matchbox 20's, their songs are refreshingly structured and predictable in a way that is wholeheartedly gratifying. A combination of '90s noisy guitar rock, '80s pacing, and '70s glam, Hey! is unapologetically radio-ready and a hell of a lot of fun. --Beth Bessmer

Entertainment Weekly
It's tempting to write off this Atlanta trio as just another Third Eye Blind clone [but] Hey! is actually more Cheap Trick than cheap imitation.

5 out of 5 stars Woo Hoo!.......2007-05-07

This is by far the best CD in the Baby Einstein collection--it will put your toddler in hyperactive playful mode and exhaust you as you try to keep up. But for today's overweight, tv- and game- addicted children, this is great!

5 out of 5 stars Einstein.......2007-04-09

Anything that has an Einstein in the title my twins love. I used to play this for them at night while they slept.

5 out of 5 stars The baby danced........2007-03-09

I gave Baby Einstein: Playtime Music Box to a little boy on his first birthday. He loves it and dances and dances to the music.

5 out of 5 stars A Lot of Fun for Playtime.......2006-01-04

This CD is a lot of fun. The music is bubbly and upbeat and makes you want to get up and dance or just jump around. It's a great way to spend some play time with your kids. And the classical music exposure is a bonus.

1 out of 5 stars Synthesized dreck.......2005-08-13

Why did the producers use synthesizers for this music? It's awful. It's possible to hook kids on classical music using the actual instruments written for it - that's how I got hooked. That's what Mel Blanc and Disney did in their cartoons, Bugs Bunny and Fantasia. I do NOT recommend this CD to anyone. It was a shower gift. If you are not familiar with classical music, then I recommend "Baby Needs Beethoven", which is a collection of music using real instruments (albeit shortened - no full length symphonies here).

If you have all the British version Parlophone cd's...as MOST Beatle fans do....then you have all these songs in the format they are here.

Now....for the COMPLETISTS in the crowd.....If you are seeking the american versions that were mixed for Capitol.....You can find them all on the 3 Anthology sets....and if you purchased the first 2 CAPITOL ALBUM boxes...you have american versions there...They are planning to release a Vol 3 this year.

It really burns me to see these bootleggers passing off this stuff to thirsty collectors....

5 out of 5 stars THE BEATLES A CROSS SECTION ,NON ALBUM COLLECTION ! .......2007-05-31

WHILE IT IS TRUE YOU COULD COLLECT 4 OTHER CDS AND HAVE THESE SONGS ,THIS IS A TIDY LITTLE PACKAGE OF WHAT WERE NON-ALBUM SONGS. THIS WAS RELEASED IN ALBUM FORM CIRCA 1970 ,WELL BEFORE 2 OF THE AFORE-MENTIONED CDS HAD SEEN PRINT. CONTRARY TO UNPOPULAR BELIEF THIS WAS ISSUED ON CD IN THE EUROPEAN UNION BY CAP/EMl,BREIFLY AND IS/WAS AVAILABLE INTERNATIONALLY. I AM SOMEWHAT AMAZED THAT CERTAIN "EXPERTS" DID NOT CHECK THEIR FACTS BEFORE MAKING SUCH SCATHING ASSESMENTS,BUT I SUPPOSE WE ALL RUSH TO JUDGEMENT SOMETIMES. THIS ISSUE IN PARTICULAR IS A RE-RELEASE, THAT HAS SADLY GONE OUT OF PRINT TOO. AS FAR AS S0ME WAX THAT ISSUED THIS,THE COMPANY THAT USED TO BE THE SUPPLIER STATES THAT THEY WERE A RUSSIAN AFFILIATE OF CAP/EMl.TO BE FRANK,I DO NOT KNOW IF THAT IS STILL TRUE AND THIS MAY BE THE REASON IT HAS GONE OUT OF PRINT YET AGAIN. MY UNCLE WAS ONE OF MANY BUSINESSMEN WHO FLEW OVER TO THE FORMER SOVIET UNION BACK IN THE EARLY '90S TO HELP THE RUSSIANS ESTABLISH BUSINESS SENSE,INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND GET THE ECONOMIC BALL ROLLING.THERE WERE MANY CONCESSIONS MADE TO THAT END.REMEMBER THE TIMES - WHILE MANY OF THE RUSSIAN NATIONALS WERE ALL FOR IT,THERE WERE STILL SEVERAL WHO WANTED THE COMMUNIST/SOVIET GOVERNMENT BACK. FOR THE WESTERN WORLD,THIS WAS CERTAINLY UNACCEPTABLE! THE U.S. AND IT'S ALLIES DID NOT WANT THE EMPIRE AS IT HAD BEEN CALLED,TO MAKE A COMEBACK. NOW YOU KNOW WHY THESE UNIQUE LITTLE CDS(AMONG OTHER ITEMS MARKETED),WERE ALLOWED.THIS PARTICUALR COMPANY WAS ONE OF THE FIRST(OVER THERE) TO ACTUALLY DO IT RIGHT AS FAR AS FACTORY PRESSING,EXCELLENT REMASTERING AND SPECIALISED BOOKLET PHOTOS,POSTER TYPE INSERTS. FOR NOW THIS IS A SUPERB PACKAGE,TIL THE WESTERN BRANCH WAKES UP AND ISSUES IT HERE. AT THE RATE THEY ARE GOING,I HOPE WE DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT CHOOSING BETWEEN PURCHASING DENTURE CREAM OR THE DOMESTIC VERSION OF THIS!

1 out of 5 stars Some Wax?.......2007-03-30

As an avid Amazon shopper, I am surprised my previous comments regarding this release were deleted. Since when is "Some Wax" a legitimate arm of EMI? I wish, truly, that EMI would release "Hey Jude" on CD, but that has yet to happen. "Hey Jude" is currently out of print as a vinyl release, and unfortunately, this release is not official. Believe me, I've got the original vinyl of "The Beatles Again" on Apple and the reprint on Capitol (purple label), and I've got my share of pops and clicks on each of them. I'd love this release to be put out on CD from EMI!

3 out of 5 stars good album, but not worth the money.......2007-02-05

the beatles are a great band, and this is a great album. but these songs can be found by much cheaper means. tracks 1 and 2 are on the A Hard Days Night soundtrack, and the last eight tracks are on the Past Masters releases. so unless youre a huge beatles collecter, this album isnt for you.

5 out of 5 stars The Ballad of John, Paul, George & Ringo.......2007-01-04

As cobbled-together albums go, THE BEATLES AGAIN (also known as "Hey Jude") is about as good as it gets. The 10 songs presented on it are from singles and B-sides, and cover the majority of the band's stellar career. Not one of these could be considered throwaway or filler.

John Lennon's lead vocals on all four of his songs are some of his most powerful ever. The track of "Revolution" presented is the one Lennon tried (but failed) to place on the White Album. Commonly labelled "the fast-version," the spine-tingling guitar work on it is unforgettable. All of Paul McCartney's tunes on this record were some of the biggest hits the Beatles ever had. George Harrison's lone contribution, "Old Brown Shoe," is high-energy and has an infectious hook.

If you don't already own this one, here is a "fab" opportunity to enjoy... THE BEATLES AGAIN!

All Butch Walker fans should own this CD.

This CD has so many songs that Butch Walker plays at his live shows, that if you have been to one you will already know most of the songs, and you will wish he would play the rest at future shows.

5 out of 5 stars This album cant be touched!!!.......2007-01-05

Simply one of the best albums of the last 25 years. You'll never hear or see a better performance than the ones that Butch, Jayce, and Slug used to give. Long live Marv3!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars M3 = Hooks+Witty Lyrics+Attitude.......2006-07-05

I found M3 through Amazon, ReadySexGo was recommended to me. Thank You Amazon. Though not as strong of an album as ReadySexGo, this is still a very good power pop/rock album. You're So Yesterday, Freak Of The Week and Write It On Your Hand are my personal favorites, but the whole album is pretty solid. Another review mentioned Cheap Trick - I agree that M3 sounds a bit like them. Butch Walker obviously had/has alot of different influences that can be heard. If you saw the VH1 Rock Honors, he played with the All American Rejects on the Def Leppard tribute.
If you like upbeat, catchy rock n roll - buy this album. But start off with ReadySexGo - it's simply a more solid album start to finish.

5 out of 5 stars Classic! Must own album from M3!.......2006-02-21

This disc was their first release on a major label and it owned up to all expectations from their prior indy stuff. Loads of fun tracks from begining to end, pretty much the perfect soundtrack for driving down endless roads and singing at the top of your off key lungs. AAAHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

BTW: The band broke up because the label stopped promoting them NOT because of religion, its kind of hard to make money as a musician if you are owned by a label who won't let you record or tour.

5 out of 5 stars rock music with a punk rock attitude........2005-10-14

4 out of 5 stars Johnny Guitar.......2005-07-08

This is the first record of Johnny Winter that I heard. I watched his albums in stores but never listened to them. Then one of my friends gave it to me. I'm more fan of George Thorogood. But it is strange that when I put the cd in I can't take it out. There are few cathcy tunes, like the opener Johnny Guitar, She Likes to Boogie Real Low,...The cover of a christmas song Please Come Home for Christmas, that his duetting with his brother is kinda funny, but it's a good song anyway.

4 out of 5 stars A mixed bag but worth the investment........2004-08-18

Yes, I agree with Mr. Jensens review. This one is a mixture. Johnny & Edgar do a duet on 'Please Come Home For Christmas', and strangely enough, Bon Jovi also did the same song almost simultaneously and released it as a single at the end of that same year. Of course, Johnny & Edgar Winter had been doing this song together probably since they were 10 yrs old since there are earlier versions available of them singing it. Definitely a nod in the direction of Charles Brown. Johnnys version of T. Bone Walkers "Hard Way' is barnstorming.
There are some points where Johnny appears to be going through the motions, but then he makes up for it with the dynamic slow blues 'You keep sayin'that you are leavin''- what a gem! The lyrics are so true to life and humourous.. the guitar work is blistering.
'Check out her mama' is another high point. You wouldn't be disappointed when buying this one and it's one of the last occasions where you hear JW at full throttle*. It was almost a continuation of Johnnys former c.d. 'Let Me In', and he did really well in keeping the same feel.
**Johnnys next CD would be years later " Live In New York" on which he sounds heavily medicated and a shadow of his former self.

5 out of 5 stars So fine.......2003-01-19

They don't call him "Johnny Guitar" for nothing. Really tasty guitar work, really nicely recorded. I also recommend "Nothing But the Blues", but this might be an even better disk.

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous Blues, Boogie Woogie and Roadhouse Rock.......2000-11-15

Outstanding disc full of blues and rockin' music. Perfect CD for driving. This will quickly get your heart pounding and your foot stomping. Wonderful mix of tunes and the usual awesome guitar playing of Johnny. Not a bad tune on the CD.

    Album Description

Aside from the magical garage rock classic of "Shakin' All Over"(originally recorded by Johnny Kidd & The Pirates) by The Guess Who, the other thirty one gems that make up this wonderful new collection are probably being heard for the very first time by many of their fans. In 1965, when the first rudiments of this superstar act were just beginning to soar into the American and Canadian charts with the smash single "Shakin' All Over", three Canadian only released albums would follow over the next few years. Friday Music is proud to be issuing these fantastic three albums on one new compact disc for the first time anywhere for your listening pleasure.

Their debut album Shakin' All Over includes some of the finest musicianship to ever be recorded in their homeland of Canada. Other tracks like "I've Been Away" and "Like I Love You" make this first effort a memorable one. A very pleasing half hour of Canadian Rock 60's style that has stood the test of time. Even to this day, The Guess Who still perform the title track in concert.

Hey Ho (What You Do To Me) continues The Guess Who's sojourn with an almost English Invasion approach, which works extremely well on songs like the harmonica laden "I Should Have Realized" and Randy Bachman's stellar instrumental "Made In England." A nicely balanced album with a surprising rendition of Bruce Johnston's five star ballad "Don't Be Scared." Rescued from vinyl oblivion, Bachman's remastering job really shines on this second effort.

A real find in this collection is the Canadian garage band classic It's Time. This amazing third chapter from this superstar band also introduced the world to the great voice of Burton Cummings. Along with founders Randy Bachman on guitar, the ever talented Jim Kale on bass and jazz rock drum style of Gary Peterson, these four gentlemen delivered some of the finest tunes ever with tracks like "One Day", the bluesy "Clock On The Wall" and the chain gang rock of "Seven Long Days." Never released on vinyl in the States, this newly remastered version should make a lot of Guess Who fans rejoice.

Shakin' All Over / Hey Ho (What You Do To Me) / It's Time were three definitive rocking chapters in the legendary career of The Guess Who. These recordings reveal a snapshot in Canadian musical history, never to be repeated again by anyone, but to be emulated by many. Their music is played on every classic rock and oldies station in the world, and fortunately for all of us, they continue to thrill crowds with their shopping list of number ones from multi-platinum albums recorded over the years. Now, you have your own eighty minute concert to enjoy courtesy of The Guess Who. Play it loud!

5 out of 5 stars Did The King Say That?! Pretty Rockin' Song!.......2003-02-15

This is a fun, rockin' update of an Elvis song. Guess it's part of a new film called HEY DJ. Should be a fun movie with cool music if this little CD is any indication. Cool stuff DJ Hound Dog!

Elvis never recorded "DID I SAY THAT?
I know everything there is to know about Elvis
and he didn't record this song... Yes it sure sounds like Elvis in the interview. I did some research but I can't find any reference to him saying what he says on this single. So they really must have found a lost interview... ( I checked the book ELVIS word for word and the Definitive Elvis DVD collection)
Looks to me like the song was written as a very witty response to the interview and to continue to promote Elvis to the Youth markets. Clever, I like the song alot. But it ain't Elvis..
It is good though. prove me wrong!

    THE EXPERT HAS SPOKEN!

5 out of 5 stars ELVIS FOR THE NEW GENERATION!.......2003-01-11

Just what the doctor ordered... Brilliantly inventive. In the same vein as A little less conversation! Elvis would definately be proud. I bet this is going to be a #1 hit single!

5 out of 5 stars Lost Elvis Song!?!?!?.......2003-01-08

Is "Did I say that?" a Lost Elvis song remixed?
It's similar to A little Less Conversation, but I prefer Did I say that?

Very cool and very witty with the radio interview at the begining which i've never heard before..

    Someone tell me please!

When did Elvis record Did i say that? i want to hear the original.

DJ Hound Dog is definately as good as JXL! He totaly brings Elvis up to date.

I also really like the track Johnny Famous.

2 out of 5 stars The second album from the before Guess Who band!.......1999-06-30

Before the next 1966 album "It's Time". The Guess Who were called before as Chad Allan & The Expressions without second lead vocals Burton Cummings is another chronicling detail story of their background music in history. Compared to as the fab four from britain called "The Beatles". And a lookalike reputation right here of this old album CD disc title and the song included called "Hey Ho (What You Do To Me)".I would'nt say this is the best music ever but when Burton Cummings voice is connected to my feelings of opinions then I'll know it's good for myself!

5 out of 5 stars Transition faze change debut in history for The Guess Who!.......1999-06-30

Winnipeg's own and most successful rock group's transition change period came to a beginning for their new direction was happening and this CD disc album will leave their milestones as they went on to become a Canadian psychedelic rock'n roll band. This proves a very true fact in their careers from the auto-biography book called "American Woman The Story of The Guess Who" by author John Einarson. Their music is compared to other musicians like The Kinks or The Who right here. From songs to "All Right", "Seven Long Years" and "Guess I'll Find A Place" performed are some of the highlights included!

4 out of 5 stars The More I listen, The More I like It!.......2003-09-15

Dave Mackenzie's 1995 release has been re-released this year as "the all new" Slender Man Blues. In actuality, the release is identical to the earlier version and that's a good thing. The CD showcases Mackenzie as a witty songwriter and an accomplished blues musician who plays with a hint of Nashville. Some of the songs bring to mind the lyrical style of Rick Estrin of Little Charlie and the Nightcats. The majority of the disc is acoustic based complete with slide guitar and mandolin. The disc is an enjoyable listen and a pleasant change of pace from the blues rock genre.
