From the Artist
Let the bloggers do the talking...Shout-out to the Spinto Band. First time I saw these guys it seemed like Ric Ocasek had seen the Strokes on TRL, decided the world needed to be shown how new wave guitar rock was done, grabbed six of his children, threw instruments on them and made them practice 7 nights a week until their fingers were sore. They were so tight (the cover of "Just What I Needed" was almost fascist in its perfection), so catchy and so enthusiastic (looked like they were 16 AND had choreographed moves) that I assumed an abusive dad had to be behind it all. I've seen them a couple times since, and my admiration has not waned. Their new songs are terrific (as soon as they release some new material I'll undoubtedly be shouting about it somewhere), they aren't afraid to rock the kazoos, their cover of the Motels' "Airport" is so fun I almost don't want to hear the original and if the audience is real nice they'll bust out their breathtaking rendition of "Walk The Dinosaur/Where My Dogs At?" Check it out.

Product Description
The Spinto story started back in 1996 when Nick Krill found some songs in the attic penned on the back of Cracker Jack boxes by his grandfather, guitar player Roy Spinto. Those lyrics inspired Nick and 6 of his high school friends to form The Spinto Band penning their own songs that the Philadelphia Weekly calls "...unlikely beauties somewhere between Pavement, Yo La Tengo and the Flaming Lips."

5 out of 5 stars Magical Melodies!.......2007-03-12

This album is absolutely superb. The songs are melodic with a bit of a twist (like the best pop songs!). Highlights for me are Oh Mandy (nothing to do with the Barry Manilow song) and Direct to Helmet. Well worth a listen!

5 out of 5 stars Switch me chairs.......2006-10-09

This is a funny, thoughtful original debut that has kept me returning. An impulse purchase that has continued to delight and amuse with it's kazoo riffs and catchy hooks. The comparisons to 'Clap Yours Hands Say Yeah'seem appropriate, particularly the vocals and sensibilities. I actually prefer The Spinto Band, though.

Songs like 'Direct to Helmet' and 'Late' caught me pretty quickly and have not let up, chasing old favourites on my 'most played' iTunes songs. They all have quirky, imaginitive touches and strong lyrics. I would definitly recommend this, and I will look out for future releases. I think it'll work out great for them.

The only thing better than listening to this band's recorded material is seeing them live. Saw them for the second time last night and I'm hooked!

5 out of 5 stars The Spinto Band - Nice and Nicely Done .......2006-07-27

This is proboly one of the best albums out there (in my opinion). Their work is so fresh and different.

Did I Tell You is a wonderful song. It's a great opening to the CD. Brown boxes is an awesome song and is easy to fall in love with and listen to it over and over and over and over. Direc to Helmet, Oh Mandy, Lost, and Japan is an Island are also some great songs.

This CD is definently worth buying.

5 out of 5 stars Spinto Band.......2006-06-08

I saw these guys live at the 9:30 club, and while they're not great live, they sound amazing on this album. They just don't copy all of the alternative and rock forumlas that are out there, and have created a pretty unique sound. Give it a listen if you're not locked into the mainstream.
