Product Description
Since their formation, Chiodos have been focused on creating something different while letting their diverse influences shine through. Their resulting debut full length is only definable as a melting pot of electronic beats behind piano, metal guitar riffs and poppy melodic vocal lines that leave you humming. Heavy and harsh at one moment, beautiful and serene the next, seemingly as a rule staying away from 'verse-chorus-verse' song writing. Their debut EP was a raw effort of oddly pieced musical ideas and bedroom recordings, however it did not go unnoticed. Fans from their home state of Michigan and beyond buzzed about the release, along with praise of the band's explosive live performances. Leading to what would eventually become 7 full U.S. tours, thousands of CDs sold and countless enthusiastic fans. Influenced by Saves The Day, Queen, and At The Drive In, Chiodos create a sound both intense and versatile as they cross musical boundaries in every song. Chiodos is truly a beacon of light in a sea of music cluttered by cookie cutter mediocrity. You heard it here first.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good.......2007-04-08

This album is pretty good. Not amazing. Most of the songs are catchy, fun, and are good to sing along to.
But when it comes from All Nereids Beware...what? I downloaded the album before I bought it (as usual) and the version of All Nereids Beware I got was WAY better than the album version. On the album, it's way too slow, has quiet singing, bad sreaming, and wierd effects. I don't like it half as much as the one I downloaded/the one in the music video.

2 out of 5 stars Would be good, If they'd shut up and play .......2007-04-04

This cd would be more tollerable if they would shut up and just play the music. The music itself is pleasant to listen to. The beats are nice, the interludes of piano music are a dramatic touch --but then there's the "SINGING".

What most reviewers fail to mention is this: entire blocks of song are composed mostly of someone screaming into the mic--and not at all artfully. No, this man doesnt not have a pair of Maynard James Keenan lungs: he screams rather badly. And its a rare moment when our vocalist's pure tones can be heard (usually at that part of the song where the music dies down) and when they are, the moment is all-to-breif and soon to be followed either by more screaming or a girlish shriek.

If this type of music (with the abnoxious vomit-sounding screaming) is not your style, this cd is NOT for you. If you're into that kind of thing, go for it.

Word of warning, however: don't let them tell you "listeners of The Mars Volta and Circa Survive will enjoy this cd". You likely wont. These guys cant even come close to Volta or Circa Survive.

5 out of 5 stars great band.......2007-01-23

The Chiodos are an up and coming post-hardcore band. You may like them if you also like A Static Lullaby, Atreyu, or Thursday. It's a great cd and I would also recommend seeing them live. They are touring now.

5 out of 5 stars Incredible.......2006-07-29

I've been on a constant high since the first time I heard Chiodos. I saw them live with Armor For Sleep back in February.

I had actually never even heard of Chiodos, so they were news to me. When they started playing, I was amazed. No one could talk to me the whole time they played. They were that good. So I picked up their CD that night, and I've been obsessed ever since then.

I've never been a huge post hardcore fan, but I am now. They've gotten me into other post hardcore groups now, although in my opinion they're the best.

Chiodos is my fav. band. I recommend their album over and over again.

5 out of 5 stars break out of the scene.......2006-06-19

All's Well That Ends Well has to be one of the best records that came out last year. Chiodos can't be labeled by a simple word like 'screamo' because it's so much more than that. The band incorperates (yes screamo) with prog., metal, hardcore, etc. I know many bands say that they do this, but Chiodos rises far above those bands. The music has so much energy, you just have to rock out to it. These guys also put on a crazy show. I haven't had so many elbows to the face as I had at their show. If you're bored of the scene, check these guys out.

And P.S. don't compare this band to other bands. Chiodos isn't like them.

2 out of 5 stars So Progressive It lost me.......2007-01-19

It seems like alot of young bands are looking to do something different; something to define them in the vast ocean of artists that all sound the same. Certainly this is a good thing for both music and music listeners, but when it comes to experimentation, groups need to remind themselves that the ultimate goal is to write songs that the listener can really get engrossed in. Chiodos' debut album, ALL's WELL THAT ENDS WELL, flops on this priciple. Like many other progressive groups, the instrumentation tends to float and hover, then take off without any real musical reason or purpose, making it very difficult for the listener to go along for the ride. Vocally, it's pretty much the same thing... nothing really in the way of consistent tempos, so the songs lack a strong lyrical melody and there is very little one could call a chorus. This devastates the music, especially when the singer never challenges his vocal abilities beyond that of the typical whiney emo punk stereotype. Try as I may, I just couldn't find anything about this CD that made me want to come back for more. I really wanted this to be something that would I could really get into, but unfortunatly it's nothing more than a mildly interesting jam session at best

5 out of 5 stars One of the best CDs I own........2007-01-10

I don't own many CDs and I loved their original edition of this CD. Chiodos did a magnificant job recording this cd and the extra tracks plus DVD are awesome. The only down fall about the dvd is one clip from their live footage didn't play for some reason? It just took me back to the main menu. The dvd was also very short but it's expected because of it being included with this CD. Overall I looooove this CD/DVD very much and would recommend it to any chiodos fan. The bonus tracks are awesome also!

    4 out of 5 stars Twin Peaks=Deke & Mickey.......2006-06-18

This is a band, every member is a force, kinda like Deep Purple Mk. II. But there would be no Man w/o guitars...and we mean Deke Leonard & Mickey Jones. Very tasty, very tight. Plus they sing, and well, at that. Check em out, live @ the Roundhouse. Wish I could've been there. Welsh Connection, Born w/a Future...take no prisoners!

3 out of 5 stars Not so bad.......2004-06-25

This is a live album that is unlike any other Man live album. It was originally released as an LP, so it relativily short at only 41 minutes. It consists of relativily short songs by Man standards, with nothing over 7 minutes. And the sound quality is very good. The sound quality is so good, it is hard to believe at times that it was recorded live.

I thought I wouldn't like this album because it does not contain any of Man's long jams. And I didn't really like it the first quick listen I gave it. But as I listened it more closely, I realized the song were mostly good. There is only one bad track on the album, Hard Way to Live.

The album starts out with a very good, very unMan-like, bluesy Let The Good Times Roll. Then it goes into the Welsh Connection, which sounds like something Steely Dan would do, only with some good keyboard and guitar licks. The version of Spunk Rock is unlike any other version on record. While it isn't the best, it is still interesting. Born With a Future and Ride And View are both very good songs.

Should you buy this album? I like most of the songs on this album. But, I don't have the studio versions of these songs. It is my guess that the live versions of these songs are pretty close to the studio versions, especially since the lengths of the songs are about the same. So, if you already have the studio versions, this might not be worth getting. All you would end up with is Let the Good Times Roll, which isn't on any other album and a unique version of Spunk Rock.

Note that you can also get this album in a 2 CD set, along with Official Bootleg. Official Bootleg is not a very good album, so I don't think it is worth getting.

There are so many, much better Man albums to get before this one. I would start with Back to the Future, 1999 Tour Party, Live at the Rainbow or Live at Padgett's Room.

Two Original Albums Reissued on One CD.

        Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars There are so many others you should buy first!.......2004-06-25

This is a 2 CD "budget" set of 2 separate Man albums. A number of the old Man albums are being reissued as 2 disc sets. Sometimes you can find them at great prices (for about the cost of a single CD). Sometimes they are overpriced.

Usually when a record company creates one of these two-fer's, they put together 2 similar albums. That is not the case here. These are 2 live albums that are very different and were recorded 14 years apart. Neither album comes close to Man's best.

The first CD, (All's Well That Ends Well) is from a concert in 1977. It was recorded shortly before the band broke for a long period (they got together and toured in the eighties, playing some really bad concerts and didn't release a new album until 1993). It was released as part of a contractual obligation.

The first CD is only 41 minutes long, and consists of relatively short songs by Man standards. Nothing is over 7 minutes long. The sound quality is excellent and it is difficult to tell at times that this was recorded live. Most of the songs are good, but most are played similar to what is on the studio albums. The only bad song is Hard Way to Live.

There are two pretty good tracks: Let The Good Times Roll is an old standard that Man plays in a very bluesy manner. It is different than most other Man songs. Spunk Rock is played differently than on any other album. It isn't the best version, and may be the shortest, but it is still very interesting.

The Welsch Connection (which sounds like a Steely Dan song), Ride and View and Born With a Future are all very good songs. But, I am guessing they are played just like on the studio albums. I haven't heard the studio versions, it is just my guess.

Official Bootleg comes from 1994. The CD is 78 minutes long and the sound quality is OK. Only about half of this CD is any good.

There are some very good moments on this CD. C'mon has a great, spacy 6 minute guitar introduction and is 16 minutes long. It has the nice guitar work you would expect. Just like on the 1st CD, Ride and View is a great tune. Here it is stretched out to 10 minutes. It also has a 9 minute slide guitar solo tacked on to the beginning. It has some nice moments, but also some boring moments. Bananas at 14 minutes is also very good. I never really liked this song, but it has a very nice middle section.

They play Wings Of Mercury, which is dedicated to Quicksilver's John Chipollina. Deke Leonard asks, why is it always the good ones that die, why couldn't it have been Phil Collins? Nice sentiments, but it really isn't a very good song, and they do a pretty bad job of playing. Like many of the other songs on this disc, it is just noisy and harsh.

There are many other live Man albums to get before this one. I would start with Back Into the Future, 1999 Tour Party, Live at the Rainbow or Live at Padgett's Room. Or you might want to get Quicksilver's Happy Trails.

What if you have all those...should you then buy this? You can have my copy, after I pull off the few good tracks and burn a CD.
