2 out of 5 stars disappointing.......2007-07-17

they have such potential for catchy yet throw-down music. a few really good tracks, but too many sissy girly songs for my taste.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2007-06-08

This CD is fantastic. I am an Australian and have never heard of The Faders until I watched She's The Man. I Love Them!! The only disappointing thing is that the new single Look At Me Now is not included in the album, but perhaps there is a reason.
Either way you won't be disappointed, all the singles are great, Track 9 Strange Boy, is a personal fave.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent CD packed with potential hits!.......2006-09-27

I heard a couple of their songs on Veronica Mars, and I immediately had to find out more about them. There are very few songs here that aren't spectacular.

4 out of 5 stars Great deput CD.......2005-10-19

I bought this CD after hearing only one song from the Faders (No Sleep Tonight). Unlike so many CDs, I wasn't disappointed with most of the other tracks. It's a good "rockin'" CD with a few softer cuts.

5 out of 5 stars Pickering Cartridge Funk.......2007-06-14

I know that my title may not make since to many but back in '68 I was 13 yrs old and the best needle and cartridge you could buy was a Pickering. It came with higher end Fisher stereos. Anyway, Eddie Harris, Houston Pearson and David "Fathead" Newman were jammin' back then. Listen Here has always been my favorite tune. When I first read that Eddie had an electronic device on his sax to produce that unique sound I was hooked. I have purchased four different albums with this cut on it just to make sure I never lose it. If you really want some gritty funk jazz get " Compared to What" with Eddie and Les McCann.

5 out of 5 stars Old outrageous albums and still the best many years later........2007-05-09

I am relistening to an album I purchased in 1968, Eddie Harris, Plug Me In. This still sounds like the ripping stirring jazz it was back in 1968. I thought this album was outrageous in 1968, I loved it then. And, after all these years, it is still outrageous and I still vibrate when I listen. How could this still be so vibrant after all these years? I don't know, I let the experts explain that. Also just listened to Les McCann and Eddie Harris, Swiss Movement, 1969, Cold Duck is still being played by everybody all these years later. What a great musican. This is great music, a classic. It don't get a better if it last nearly forty years.

4 out of 5 stars One of the founders.......2006-07-31

Eddie Harris was one of the founding fathers of electrified jazz saxaphone. Others that follow are David Koz, Kenny G and many others.

At least Ronnie Laws had the good sense to make a tribute album to Eddie for how he inspired Ronnie and Eddie's contributions.

I had this album when it was on vinyl. Never tired of hearing it because Eddie just played. No nonesensical or trite lyrics. Just genius tones, tonal combinations or great percussion.

The artists of today are very good. No question or arguement. However, I think they were inspired by this great gentleman of jazz.

The electrifiny Eddie Harris. If you like saxaphone jazz, listen to Eddie's recordings. He will electrify you too!

    4 out of 5 stars very Smooth&On Point.......2005-07-20

Eddie Harris is a Very Versatile Musician.two for One Albums here that showcase the various Grooves, tempos&Stylings on here.He has a cool vibe on the Sax.you feel the Music here covering a smooth Groove of Jazz, but yet it has a Funky Backdrop that is always Grooving.this is the kind of Multi Set that truly highlights a Artist who had His thing.this is a Good Collection&a Good Price.

    5 out of 5 stars Ghetto Jazz..........2001-06-13

....subtitled "Theme in Search of A Jazz CD Review".

....sub-subtitled "The Lounge Cats Ride Again".

Followers of these many reviews I have done for Amazon know that I really can't claim to be an all-knowing jazz purist type because, see, I never played any musical instrument and I was not privy to any great jazz era. (Not directly, that is.) Plus, I have listened to many things in all genres and I love a lot in all of them. I do remember some of the cuts that my Dad's hangout buddies, The Lounge Cats kinda dug. As an aside, I also have a great aversion to doing reviews on someone's total record/CD catalog. I mean, I may write something on one or two of Miles Davis' CD because I may personally like them...I ain't even gonna pretend to say I've heard and liked all of Miles output. No disrespect intended, Miles is great and all that, but I can't and never will front like that....

Members of the Lounge Cats, however, always, and I do mean always, give me suggestions of what to write about which artist.

This is Eddie Harris. Eddie would be in that group of jazz artists I would call Ghetto Jazz...background music playing on the stereo or juke box in some hole-in-the wall bar and grill or afterhours spot. Eddie would be played, so would greats like Jimmy Smith, Jimmy Mcgriff, Wes Montgomery, Bro Ray Charles, early Crusaders...you get the picture? Accessible and grooving tunes that are not too far out of reach to us commoners...

This is the CD with two, count 'em two, great Eddie Harris albums, "The Electrifying Eddie Harris" and "Plug Me In", I purchased recently upon hearing a poppin', hissing vinyl version of "Listen Here"....what can I say, but The Lounge Cats convinced me--by albeit primitive means, they got me grroovin' to something I would not have ordinarily. Ol' Guys like that are a treasure.

Normally, here I'd flex my reviewers prejorative and show you how I did my homework, ie read the liner notes, to list the many different players, the engineers, what time of the great 70s jazz era this was in, to show you how much a knowledgeable jazz expert I am.

But that ain't the point of this and I daresay any of these reviews I write. Good Stuff actually speaks for itself. I'm no expert, I'm an evvy day Joe who loves to listen to Good Stuff...

I'll let the great, late saxophonist's art speak, as it were, for itself...

My parting comments? I have been playing it in its entirety a couple days a week since I got it. Needless to say, I love it. And the ol' dog learned a few more tricks from some older dogs, once again....

4 out of 5 stars FAT FREE GOOD MUSIC.......2000-01-26

Plug in and turn on, that is the most apt title for any cd i have ever seen. The music is enjoyable and really innovative. The only reason i rate this cd 4 stars is that some songs on this cd are totally naieve and easy. But this cd is a great buy and highly recomended toward building agood ambient trip hop cpllection. There is a good variety and you will not get board even if you listen to the entire cd at one time. This cd is to futuristic music what classical music is to the music od today.

    4 out of 5 stars GOO STUFF!.......1999-04-07

This cd is very cool...I like how the music kind of starts plane and simple and the picks up its tempo. I have heard many trip-hop rythems and some of the beats on this cd are really fantastic. Trip hop music has certainly come a long way and this Cd is a strong proof of it. I will certainly concider buying the rest of the cd's in this series!

    4 out of 5 stars undark smart geared*in 'intelligent'.......1999-03-29

One of my favorite trip-hop CDs (and I have quite a few of them)! These cool acid jazz tracks vary in speeds, but all have a rich sound an inescapable rhythm. At times, some tracks are reminiscent of Orbital. I consider this CD a Trip Hop Classic!

The Debut Album of Northern Ireland's Mcmanus Brothers which Rode a Wave of European Metal Bands that Gained Attention in the Us in 1982, Thanks to the Fledgling MTV Network Exposing them to a Mass Audience.

      Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Classic McManus - A must-buy for any rock music lover.......2007-03-08

What can be said about the music of the McManus brothers that hasn't already been said? For anyone who is a fan of Mama's Boys music, it is a privilege to finally own one of their classic albums on CD. For too many years, the only way to listen to this fusion of rock and Irish traditional was to have a record player. But thankfully, with these reissues on CD, a new generation will finally get to hear the Fermanagh trio in full voice.
"Plug It In" was their debut album, way back in 1982, but believe me when I state that the music is far from outdated. From the thumping opening of "In The Heat of the Night" through the sexy bluesy rhythm of the epic "Needle in the Groove" and the melancholy "Belfast City Blues"; there is something in this album that will appeal to everyone who has a love of rock music, with that slight hint of Irish trad influences.
So do yourself a favour and follow the instructions: Plug It In!

5 out of 5 stars Good raw rock--'Just how it should be.'.......2000-02-23

This is a fine example of how rock music should be played. With John's N.Irish accent adding to Pat's guitar solo's on the "flying V" and Tommy banging away at the back, the gap left by "Mama's Boys" has never been filled. The "boys" appeared on Irish TV in 1997/98 with a new band called Celtus--nothing since. "Plug it in" is an excellent CD for anyone who appreciates rock music the way it used to be, Hard and Loud!

      4 out of 5 stars Great CD!.......1999-05-05

Some of you out there might remember Mama's Boys from back in the mid 80's. They had some hits on MTV with songs like "If The Kids Are United" and their version of "Mama We're all Crazy Now". They are a group of 3 very talented brothers from Ireland (Pat, Tom, and John McManus) who have put together some great songs. My favorite songs on the "Plug It In" CD are "Runaway Dreams", "Straight Forward", and "In the Heat of the Night". I'm not sure what this group is up to these days, but I highly recommend this CD for anyone out there who likes some great metal and hard rock that gets you moving!

      5 out of 5 stars Essential CD........2001-11-10

In an age where electroic music various artist CD's are dime a dozen ..this one stands out bright and shiney. Great music..period. I am actually surprized that such a great Cd is on limited availability. Every track on here is a classic and most importanlly ...this is not a techno/rave CD!..this is 100% pure trip hop! My favoirit track on the Cd is the very first one. It reminds me classic old time early 90's trip hop. It almost sounds like acid jazz but not. It also pretty smooth. Also the track by knowtorious is excillent . K & D actually ruined it on the classic K & D sessions. It sounds much better here. Also mindless moments by moodorama is an excillent track. Again the version on this CD is excillent and better than the one on basement music. Lines by Taran....another excillnt sample drums and base driven trac and last but definalely not the least Charles by beanfield. Excillent version and addictively foot thumping. Over its a great CD and i hope amazon will actually mover it over to trip hop, where it belongs. Its a great buy and i hope we can save it from extinction.

5 out of 5 stars Just what I have been looking for.......2002-10-04

'Daydreams in Cold Weather' is one of the finest purchases I have made in quite a while. Perfect for relaxing, reading, working on the computer, and of course, daydreaming. It is similar to Plaid, but more subtle. The album is very well rounded and even features the legendary Divine Styler on a track. Plug Research appears to be on top of their game. In fact I would say there seems to be some really quality American electronic labels now, with Ghostly International and Schematic doing their thing. If you are sick of chaotic, pretentious, so-called experimental, this is what you are looking for.

For fans of Soulo, Two Lone Swordsmen, Aphex Twin, Jean Michel Jarre, Future Sound Of London...this is something you can not miss. This is not your average electronic record. Tejada sets his own genre. I enjoy it after a hard day of work, even during work I enjoy it, it relaxes me, as well as bed time story for me to be put to sleep by. I love this cd, I hope you enjoy it, if you already own it, I recommend Soulo.

If you are looking for fast attacking beats, this is not for you, if you are looking for a chill out, ambient style, then look no further.

I bought this CD with the anticipation that I was going to hear something in the same style as Tejada's track "The Matrix of Us", featured on the 'Panatone' compilation. What I ended up hearing on this CD was a series of what sounded like a blind-folded goofball toying with a Yamaha keyboard at the local music store.

Each tune, which none qualifying as "songs", lacked originality, depth, and tonality, as well as groove (which I thought was Tejada's trademark).

John, go back to the studio and redeem yourself! I still have faith!
