I found out about Matt Wertz by stumpling upon his myspace earlier this year and have been addicted to his music ever since! His music/lyrics will make you laugh,cry,smile,dance...you will every emotion you can think of. I predict that Mr. Wertz is going to be HUGE since he is going on tour with Jamie Cullum in 2006.

What can I say about Matt Wertz! What an artist he is! No matter what I have to listen to his music daily either in my car or on my computer system, he has to be playing! One of thee all time best artist I feel! His songs are wonderful and friendly. I met Matt Wertz at Bethel College; I heard a few of his songs that my best friend told me about but never got into it....until that night of the concert! He was amazing, he is so awesome live and full of energy! Im sooooooo looking forward to his upcoming album this spring of 2006! He is better than John Mayer in my opinon! He is such an awesome and friendlist dude to talk to! He'll be hitting it big very soon and everyone will want to know who is Matt Wertz! God bless you Wertz!!! - alex a.

I was tempted to give this album five stars but only gave it four for a couple of reasons. One, I feel skeptical of anything that gets too many perfect reviews and perfect reviews give a person an awful lot to live up to. Two, I think he shows a lot of growth on his newest EP - Today & Tomorrow, which is more of a five to me. (Definitely check it out. Wanderin' Eyes has a great sound and the bass is sooo rich. I hope he continues with this style.)

I first got started on Matt Wertz because I was downloading Matt Nathanson and iTunes told me I would like Matt Wertz. I know it was a ploy to get me to download more than I'd intended, but it was right because I've enjoyed all three albums. If you're a fan of Jack Johnson, Marc Broussard, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Matt Nathanson, et. al., you'll definitely love this album. That said, Matt Wertz's only true fault is that he sounds like a lot of talented people with similar styles. Although if you're going to have a fault, it's not a bad one to have.

That said, I think he's a very talented songwriter, which in my opinion is the root of any great song. I also think the quality of his writing richly improves over his earlier album. As a result, I can listen to the whole album from start to finish and not have to skip over subpar songs. He also has an amazing voice that manages to sound both powerful and vulnerable at the same time. And having seen him in concert it's clear it's all him, no editing or audio retouching. In fact, his albums don't quite capture how talented, bubbly, and captivating he is as a performer. Always refreshing to hear someone who is actually BETTER in concert than on CD.

I've never written a review on Amazon before, but I thought I should start with Matt Wertz's CD "Twenty-Three Places." I actually knew Matt from our dorm floor when he first started in the at the University of Illinois in 1998. He recorded his first CD on his computer and hasn't looked back since. I still have that CD and listen to it all the time and now I have to say this latest CD is his best effort. It's a CD you can listen to anytime and he mixes awesome lyrics with great melodies. He has so much talent and I really think he's destined for big things.

I purchased this album because of the fact that I will be attending Belmont University in Nashville and Matt Wertz is going to be playing and at concert. I wanted to get a chance to listen to his music before I got there. The CD is a great one, and it is really easy to press the repeat button. You can put it on in the background while working or crank it up...either way it is a lot of fun to listen to. The album has some great toe-tapping selection that will have you humming the tunes/beats in no time. The guitar playing in the album is really cool and I would recommend this album to anyone.
